Robert F. Kennedy Jr. visiting the Centers for Disease Control campus while himself being a leading voice in the vaccine skepticism that poisoned the mind of the alleged assassin at the center of Friday's deadly assault aimed at CDC buildings is quite something. At least he's acknowledged it - unlike the President or the White House at all. While here, though, RFK Jr. could've swung by Emory University to offer his apologies for pulling funding for mRNA vaccine research, but of course, he didn't. "“I don't think I've seen a more dangerous decision in public health in my 50 years in the business,” said Mike Osterholm, a University of Minnesota expert on infectious diseases and pandemic preparations."------Upon further review, I have to admit I came away from my interview with 2026 gubernatorial candidate Jason Esteves a little unfulfilled - mostly with my questioning. He did nothing wrong; I just didn't spend the time I had wisely enough. I'm pretty high on him for reasons other than policy, but he's said nothing policy-wise to sour me, either. Here's the thing: there are those who believe he doesn't definitively say much of substance at all. That has at least one Georgia progressive considering a run for the party's nomination - friend of the show, state Representative Ruwa Romman. She and I texted back & forth a bit yesterday and while I'll keep most of that between us, she didn't deny having interest. ------One reason a progressive like Romman is dissatisfied with the field might be the potential that former lieutenant governor Geoff Duncan is openly considering joining it. I've said it before and I'll say it again: ya just joined the congregation, Geoff. What makes you think you should already be a deacon?

We chat about what's next for the bourbon industry on this week's Access Louisville podcast.Specifically, LBF Bourbon Reporter Stephen P. Schmidt is on the show to talk about the coming year for the industry. Schmidt recently talked to several people in the industry for a two-part story on the year ahead in this signature Kentucky space. He heard a little bit of everything from speculation on acquisition deals to expanding the ways in which brands sell to their consumers. You can read part 1 of Schmidt's bourbon prediction story here, and part 2 here.A key takeaway: Last year was a challenging one for the industry — at least compared to the boom years of the last decade — and that's expected to continue in 2025.After that, we chat about a couple restaurant stories with Reporter Michael L. Jones. He tells us about a new location for popular Mexican restaurant I Love Tacos. He also shares an update about the former Pints & Union Space in New Albany, which will soon be home to a new tavern. Finally we wrap up the show with a discussion of Louisville's Hometown Heroes banners. The sepia-toned banners have for years decorated the sides of Louisville buildings with the faces of famous and notable Louisvillians. A new class of Hometown Heroes was recently announced, as Digital Editor Zak Owens recently reported. (Fun fact: One of the Hometown Heroes Honorees, Ken Clay, founder of Corner of Jazz, co-authored a book with Jones, 2024's "Soulful Sounds of Derby Town." You can hear Jones talk about the book on our show here.)Access Louisville is a weekly podcast from Louisville Business First. Teixeira, a Senior Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute and co-editor of The Liberal Patriot newsletter on Substack, is known for his books The Emerging Democratic Majority, and his latest publication Where Have All the Democrats Gone?. In this episode, we explore the "shattering of the Democratic coalition," examining the party's apparent loss of appeal with working-class voters – a shift that Teixeira argues has been underway for some time. Tune in to hear his strategies for how Democrats can reclaim voters as they chart a path forward. • [01:04] Introducing today's guest, Dr. Ruy Teixeira. • [03:11] What surprised Dr. Teixeira about the 2024 election results (and what didn't). • [06:12] Deliberating how close the election really was. • [09:32] The biggest vulnerabilities of the Democratic party in this election. • [15:54] Unpacking the role of identity politics for Democrats. • [18:41] Trump's divisive politics and why voters have such divergent perceptions of him. • [21:04] Understanding Trump voters' perspective regarding January 6th. • [23:59] Liz Cheney's in the Democratic campaign and why it wasn't enough to sway voters. • [25:03] How Democrats can reach working-class voters going forward. • [27:10] What to expect from Trump's second term. • [29:59] Dr. Teixeira's new book: Where Have All the Democrats Gone?
India-China relations are dynamic, featuring periods of marked conflict, competition, and some cooperation. Structurally, however, the relations face significant challenges today, in domains ranging from the boundary dispute and trade imbalance, to broader tensions surrounding leadership of the 'Global South', burgeoning US-China contestation, and competing visions for a regional order. And even though the structural faultlines cannot be wished away, they require a crisp and innovative means to think about achieving equilibrium and some stability. In this episode of 'All Things Policy', Manoj Kewalramani speaks to Anushka Saxena about a pathway towards achieving a new modus vivendi with China. He sheds light on the influential strands of thought shaping the two neighbours' policies toward each other, while also proposing a 6-part framework for India to consider as it approaches the 'China question'. Manoj's detailed ideas are also elaborated in his latest research paper for Takshashila, entitled 'Contours of a New Modus Vivendi with China'. Reading and understanding a medical consent form before you sign it can make the difference between acceptance and regret if you experience a complication. Cris Ross, the CIO of Mayo Clinic, shares his cancer journey and reflects on the complexities of surgery, recovery, and the lessons learned that inspired him to write a book on navigating healthcare. Key Takeaway: Avoid Regret Voice your preferences and priorities. You don't need to be a doctor or a healthcare professional, but you need to know enough about your condition and the alternatives to make informed decisions. Be realistic about the tradeoffs between different decisions. Talk about them with your physician and your family. Deliberating out loud is an effective way to make sure you fully understand the risks and benefits of different alternatives. Read the consent form. Really read it. Make sure it includes 4 key elements: purpose of the procedure, risks, benefits, and alternatives. For elective surgery, ask for the medical consent form at your pre-op visit so that you can review at home it without feeling rushed to sign it. Prepare for a profound journey into the realm of end times beliefs and prophecies. Guaranteeing an enriching experience, we'll guide you through the prophecy of the regathering of the Jews - a revelation that finds mention in the works of every prophet, bar Jonah. How is this prophecy, dating back 600 years before Jesus, unfolding in modern times? And more importantly, why is the fulfilment of this prophecy so imperative for God's master plan of human redemption?Moving on, we challenge conventional wisdom as we decode the scriptures of end times, juxtaposing it with major world events of our era. From the regathering of the Jews in 1948 to the prophecies of pre-tribulation, mid-tribulation, and post-tribulation, we leave no stone unturned. As we walk you through the possible links of these prophecies to modern phenomena like digital currency and the formation of a one-world government, you'll begin to see the intriguing matrix of faith, prophecy and reality. A thought-provoking dialogue ensues on the role of collective Christian response in shaping our world's future. Finally, we soften the intensity with a gentle reminder on the need for compassion and humility in these times of prophecy. Deliberating on the importance of prayers for peace in Jerusalem, we shed light on the human side of war. An inspiring narration about the son of the Hamas co-founder who chose Christianity over his father's path, serves as a fitting close. This episode promises not just knowledge, but also a renewed perspective on end times beliefs.Support the showSub to my RUMBLE: bit.ly/3OvIaVG
