This week in drone news, A new round of Blue UAS has started testing, a bird that was rescued using a drone, a drug-loaded large UAS lands on a police car, and DJI's latest announcement: Good things come in 3s. Blue UAS 2.0 A new round of blue UAS testing has begun. This round includes 11 vendors, such as Sense fly, Skydio, Harris Aerial, and Wingtra. The goal of this is to further expand the U.S. government's ability to obtain sUAS that are effective in their mission goals. We reported recently about how Blue UAS are not measuring up to the standards set by other consumer aircraft, such as DJI. This took place in Peru, a bird was tangled in a string that was attached to an electrical wire. Using a Mavic Mini or Mini 2, police attached a razor blade and cut the string. No info on weather proof details for this available which is the failing point of most gimbal units. but that big floppy screen could make a huge difference. Adidas has teamed up with Lego to make the Ultraboost DNA X Lego limited edition ! And ver limited as they are all gone. Creativity | Community | Clients: 3C’s Case Study This is a 3C’s Case Study examining the needs of our client DCEC and how to use storytelling and video to achieve the fundraising goals. Background The Developmental Center for Exceptional Children (DCEC) was founded in 1974 by Kristina Radcliff. Kristina saw a desperate need in her community and created DCEC to provide services to children often overlooked or ignored. In the days before children with special needs and disabilities received services in the public school system, DCEC provided care and instruction to children from birth to age thirteen. Since relocating to the Westside Community Center in 2014, enrollment has more than tripled. DCEC has grown to become a vital part of the greater Anderson County community. DCEC's outreach efforts have created strong partnerships and engagement from the community, and continue to grow and be holistic in the services provided to these exceptional children. Goal of Project The goal of this video project, to create a video showcasing the story inside DCEC with the narrative highlighting the parent's perspective. The second goal of the video was to showcase the inside of the facility, creating a virtual tour while showcasing the interaction between the children, the staff, and the parents. Bottom-line, create a compelling video story to be used as a fundraising tool during the 2019 “Moms & Mimosas” event; where roughly 300 women from the community would attend and potentially give. Production This project was a simple video production process were all the content was captured over two, separate half-days. The first on-site half-day production was to capture the interviews with the parents. Since this video was focused on fundraising, it was important to keep the narrative focused on the parents who could provide third party testimonials speaking directly to potential funders and the community at-large. The interviews were captured using a two camera approach: 1) Canon EOS c100 - Interview camera with boom microphone 2) Canon EOS 5Dmkiv - Second angle camera for a close-up of the face for expressions. The "broll" footage was captured during a second, half-day production. This allowed us to capture the parents and the children interacting with the staff. We used a small DJI OSMO+ so that the camera would not overwhelm the children. Given the fact these children had certain differing abilities, we did not want them to focus on large production cameras. So we chose the DJI OSMO+ as a portable camera, stabilized providing a beautiful 4K image and smooth movement. We ultimately edited this video project using the Adobe CC leveraging Premiere Pro, Audition, and Media Encoder. This project was produced in 1080p and delivered online and for an in-person event. Results This video project was unveiled at our annual spring fundraiser in May 2019 – “Moms & Mimosas”. This was DCECE's largest attendance since the initial event creation 4 years prior. An audience of approximately 300 professional women attended the 2019 brunch, fashion show and auction. It is estimated that 25 - 30 percent were first time attendees. The 2019 event raised 34% percent more in revenue than the previous year (approximately $7,500).

DJI Osmo 4 mobile phone gimbal is different it uses a magnetic disc that you put on your phone and balance once and then your good to go with high speed interchanging ! With a bucket load of featured moves added this $239 aud gimbal will sell like hot cakes. As like the zhiyun did it took the issue of attaching to the gimbal and balancing out of the equation which is why most people won't use them. Canon released R5 R6 firmware update today and testing already out i watched the boys at DP review talk about the increase in time for 8 k up to double existing times but the big improvement was the 4k und video getting useable 30 min sectors in! Still the big downside that can't be ignored the recovery time still quite substantial! Apple announces updates to their iMac line–the 21.5 iMac is now Retina 4K. The big news for digital media creatives is the expanded color gamut of the new iMacs. Apple says this is achieved by shifting the Retina display away from standard white LEDs to advanced red-green phosphor LEDs. Now all three colors — red, green, and blue — are more equally represented and show off real-world color with more balance and precision. The new color gamut is based on the DCI-P3 color space - once only available in high-end pro gear. The new displays allow for 25% more colors to be differentiated on screen. It seems like we’re stuck on old design conventions when it comes to cameras. It's like how the first automobiles looked like the horse buggies they replaced. Will camera manufactures finally break away from the DSLR and camcorder form factor and embrace new designs that help us as digital media creatives to embed ourselves in the action and capture the images we want without getting in the way? It looks like DJI - yes, the drone juggernaut - is doing just that with the release of the a clever new handheld camera and gimbal system called the OSMO. Had some new deliveries today. Things that are designed to make my time on the road a little better. One of the arrivals allowed me to install my new 110 High Speed Schlumpf Drive to replace the old one. Ill discuss exactly what a Schlumpf drive is and why I am replacing it in the podcast. Also listen to my take on being a traveling videographer and some of the gear I bring with me to produce the video content on the road. I am in the process of adding some new things to the kit, and a cool new product from DJI may have just presented itself as the “holy grail” of video tools… I hope.
