Join Row on Triple M's latest gig review of The Darkness's recent performance at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of their debut album, "Permission to Land," The Darkness delivered an unforgettable show, tearing through hits like "Growing on Me," "Love Is Only a Feeling," and "I Believe in a Thing Called Love." The episode takes you on a rock journey, featuring exclusive insights into how the band, led by the charismatic Justin Hawkins, combined their signature sound with surprising elements, including snippets of Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" and a special cameo by Dan Hawkins on the drums. Row captures the essence of the live experience, highlighting Justin Hawkins's phenomenal 5-octave vocal range, stage presence, and the band's interaction with the crowd, which added a personal touch to the night. The synergy between band members, including the cool Frankie Poullain, the talented Dan Hawkins, and the energetic newcomer Rufus Taylor, son of Queen's Roger Taylor, is explored, showcasing how their collective performance elevates their music. This episode also gives a nod to the vibrant support acts, Cry Club, DZ Deathrays, and You Am I, who set the stage with their performances, including a humorous tribute to Spinal Tap. Shane Parsons and Simon Ridley (and in recent times, Lachlan Ewbank) – aka DZ Deathrays, from Queensland, Australia – have been responsible for some of the most fun music around since as far back as 2008. Now, on June 2nd, the Brisbane group release their new full-length release, R.I.F.F, a record that is expressly designed to combat misery with melody, while also expanding the group's sound by infusing it with more synth, more complex arrangements, while keeping all the skill riffarama you would expect from a band who have always been, at the very least, extremely exciting in all that they have done. Join Chris from Triple M as he takes you on a thrilling musical journey through Regurgitator's electrifying Unit 25 tour. Experience the essence of an unforgettable night, featuring not only the iconic Regurgitator but also incredible performances from Butterfingers, Custard, and DZ Deathrays. From the moment the crowd gathered, anticipation built as Butterfingers, Custard, and DZ Deathrays set the stage on fire with their mind-blowing sets. By the time Regurgitator emerged, adorned in vibrant yellow and black Kill Bill track suits, the energy was palpable. Chris describes the concert experience, with Regurgitator kicking off with the energetic track "Sucker" and a selection of their non-Unit hits. The trio then disappears momentarily, only to return in silver body suits that left little to the imagination. The atmosphere intensifies as they dive headfirst into their legendary album, Unit. Joined by Shane Rudken, donning a bunny suit and playing the keytar, the band even surprises the audience with an Enter Sandman intro, adding an unexpected twist to the performance. Unit reaches its crescendo, with Chris personally highlighting "The Song Formerly Known As" as a standout moment. The night doesn't end there, as Regurgitator returns for an encore, delivering an exhilarating rendition of the fan-favorite "Kong Foo Sing." To close the show on an uplifting note, the entire audience joins in a spirited singalong to Tears For Fears' classic hit, "Shout." Don't miss out on Chris's detailed review of this sensational gig, exclusively on the LiSTNR app. Stay tuned for more captivating reviews and be sure to immerse yourself in the pulsating world of live music through Triple M.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Burke Reid is a Canadian-Australian producer, who began his career as part of the seminal Australian alt-rock trio Gerling. After ten years in the band, and 4 critically and commercially successful albums, he left to pursue a career solely in production. His very first full length role, The Mess Hall's Devil's Elbow won the Australia Music Prize and set him off on a fascinating and varied career as one of alternative music's most interesting and in demand producers. Work with Courtney Barnett - whose album “Sometimes I sit and think, sometimes I just sit” also nabbed an AMP Award, DZ Deathrays, Flyte, Julia Jacklin and Sports Team have followed. He relocated to the UK just as the world went into lockdown back in 2020, but we were lucky to be able to speak with him in person at my studio, Hackney Road, and hear the story about how he went from cult rock star musician with Gerling, to cult rock music producer. The Process of Production is presented by Lawrence Diamond and Bob Matthews. Lawrence cut his teeth playing and writing in Indie bands before finding international success and touring the world with his band CITIZENS! During that time he worked with a host of revered producers including Liam Howe, Mark Ralph and Alex Kapranos. Since the band ended in 2016 he's been using that experience to help other artists develop their careers as a writer and producer while continuing to release his own music under various different guises. Bob learned his trade as the producer and multi-instrumentalist in Electronic Pop duo Alpines, whose career spans 3 albums, releases on major and indie record labels, shows with Florence + The Machine, The xx, Emeli Sandé, and a top 20 hit 'Tidal Wave' in collaboration with Sub Focus. In recent years he has turned his focus to producing other acts and has a studio in Chiswick in West London. It's been a while between drinks once again but we're back for OnlyBands Episode 6, Return of The Jedi! This one was recorded a while ago, so some of the things we talk about in hindsight are tragically funny. Regrettably we never will get another Violent Death Rats tour featuring Gooch Palms despite talking about it so enthusiastically. This time around we have Simon (DZ Deathrays, Velociraptor, Total Pace) and his good mate Jai (Haters). Our guests talk about touring with the Wiggles, go-to hangover cures, accidentally having to play with the world's most objectionable band, doing the truffle shuffle in Amsterdam, impending fatherhood, and embarrassing yourself in front of Frehnzal Rhomb by playing the wrong song. In-between all of that, we pit Simon and Jai against each other in our totally original game of categories as well as testing the limits of their craft beer consumption courtesy of Jed, his expanding beer belly, and Newstead Brewery.
On this week's pod Lachy educates us on hamboning, we discuss the unaffordability of backline and why it's too expensive to play with a live drummer, come up with song names for our new project “Death Seminar”, and give the lowdown on our band's unfortunate phishing incident from earlier in the week.Shout outs @therealerewbank @dzdeathraysSign up to our Patreon for a bonus pod each week (that's double the pod!) and other VIP stuff for just $5 a month:https://patreon.com/whatagreatpunkJoin us all in the TNSW Discord community chathttps://tnsw.co/discordWatch our Comedy Central Mockumentary series and TNSW Tonight! on YouTube:https://youtube.com/thesenewsouthwhalesFollow us on Twitch:https://twitch.tv/thesenewsouthwhalesTNSW on Spotify:https://open.spotify.com/artist/0srVTNI2U8J7vytCTprEk4?si=e9ibyNpiT2SDegTnJV_6Qg&dl_branch=1TNSW: @thesenewsouthwhalessJamie: @mossylovesyouTodd: @mrtoddandrewshttps://patreon.com/whatagreatpunkhttps://thesenewsouthwhales.comShout-outs to the Honorary Punks of the Pod:ClaireHugh FlassmanHarry WalkomMagnusIsaacOli MossElliott FlassmanJimi KendallEdmund SmithNickZacAngus LillieLachy TanBenBen NelsonDan DingusObjectors Nork

Easily recognisable in his red skivvy with a guitar around his neck, Murray played in the band for 20 years and recorded an enormous amount of records (an album every year and sometimes more!). At their peak they were known to play up to 40 shows a month and on average were playing to a million people every year, that definitely makes them one of the hardest working bands in showbiz. Guitar Magazine once speculated that since Cook was one of the first guitarists children were exposed to, he might be the most influential guitarist in the world, nice one Murray! Since leaving the Wiggles in 2012 Murray has been focusing on his new project The Soul Movers which just released a new record entitled ‘Evolution’. Murray and I caught up in Sydney to talk about infinite Wiggledom, American stalkers, The Soul Movers, touring like a madman, what makes a children’s hit single and a bunch more.
