Sid's a fascinating chap; coming from a family background of East Coast (USA) liquor stores, he created Beverage Trade Network to operate spirits, wine and beer contests just about everywhere, as well as advise brands, all with the goal of helping brands market themselves and succeed in the marketplace. There's a lot of cold hard truth truth in this episode about building brands, and we do a little crystal-ball gazing to guesstimate what'll happen where & when in some liquor categories in the future. Welcome to the third episode from a new podcast series TRAVEL POD produced by Senior Times in association with Travel Department. Senior Times meets Hilda Smith a well known Blogger - Over the Hilda Hilda give us her recommendations to some of the far off destinations we should all experience. In this episode we feature South Africa USA , India & Vietnam Hilda says , when you've spent 34 years teaching English to young people between 12 and 18, reared two daughters, and run a household (just to name a few things), there hasn't been too much time – or even incentive – to record life and what it throws at you. Now that I've retired (early, six years ago), I still have the energy and motivation to keep the brain cells working with my ‘Over The Hilda' blog in my carefree post-work life. Just mastering a computer keyboard and uploading material to this site has been challenging, but I'm getting there! A wife, mother, friend and confidante, sports enthusiast, lover of fashion, food, wine, theatre, travel and reading, and definitely someone who enjoys life. Like many, life has had its share of ups and downs. Surgery for a slipped disc put paid to my Hockey-playing days over 30 years ago, a gap that was filled by Tennis to a pretty competitive standard until recently when persistent back pain sadly put paid to that activity. Golf, though, has been my saviour, so I am learning how to play this most frustrating game while I have to admit to being totally addicted to Bridge (another activity to keep the mind active, don't you know!) Travel Department is Irish Owned and Operated with over 25 years' experience perfecting tours to 100s of destinations worldwide, their guided holidays typically include flights, accommodation, transfers and excursions. In this week's podcast, Dale Pickles from B Squared is joined by Al Start. Al is a singer-songwriter who specialises in music for children and schools through her company Go Kid Music. Al has worked with children through creative art organisations and local authority play services. Al has also toured the UK and East Coast USA performing her music. There are different types of sign language, British sign language or BSL is the primary language used for deaf people, and less than 1 in 10 people in the UK know more than two words in British Sign Language. There is also Makaton tht uses symbols sign and speech to support communication. Sign language isn't always an alternative to speech, it can be used to support speech. Why use signing in your school? How can you introduce it to all students? How can your staff learn? Why is it important? Visual communication methods such as Makaton support spoken language and help everyone understand. Many schools do not use signing, some do but only in a class with a child with send, but there is evidence to show kinaesthetic learning is your secret weapon as well as being inclusive, fun, creative, supportive, respectful and beautiful! We remember songs for years, we remember nursery rhymes from our childhood. They help in so many ways. It make sense to use songs and music more widely in school. The next step is to use topic-based songs for learning the vocabulary, key facts, retaining information and bringing a new dimension to cross curricular topic work. By introducing music and singing into all areas of the curriculum and not just for music lessons, schools can enable a mixed ability class to learn collaboratively, creatively, and ‘level the playing field' in terms of ability. This enables students who may struggle to learn in a conventional way to take part and feel confident in their learning. Resources: Songbooks published by Collins Music: “Sing! Play! On this episode of Take Note by Stage Whisper-Her, we're chatting with The Backfires, a rock band from both sides of the Atlantic and made up of frontman Alex Gomez, Bassist Matt Walter and guitarist Harry Ruprecht on their success and popularity since the release of their latest EP "Consider the Backfires". A rock band that formed in London in 2018 under the unflattering and pompous name "Qualia Noir", these boys have been managing to write and record hit songs from both the US and the UK. They've played gigs all across London and East Coast USA and we can't wait until their next live show post-pandemic. Recognize the name? You might have seen The Backfires' band member Alex and Matt perform at Stage Whisper-Her's first ever show back in December! We're happy to have them back at SWH to chat about their successes and have an exclusive listen to a potential new single! Let us talk about COVID-19 and it's effects on the south coast- Is Jamaica getting ready for Post Covid-19? ECO Community Tourism definition::: It is the type of tourism that helps the local economy while preserving the areas and not changing the lifestyle or income level of the communities negatively.. Eco - Community tourism provides sustainable income to the LOCALS and most of not all businesses are locally owned from Hotels, Villas, Bed and Breakfasts, Restaurants, Attractions and culturally attractive places to visit. It affords locals to benefit from the resources in their own communities, without much change in their lifestyle and how the villages live . Fishing is almost 90% of direct income to Alligator Pond, and the Eco-Community Tourism theme applies to fishing in this great community.. Let us talk about how this vital industry to the people of the area on this beautiful part of Jamaica's South Coast is being affected by COVID-19 and what we can do to preserve this great and traditional culture.. Interview with Tim McDonald Targeting species spearfishing with Tim McDonald, what a treat! We have a good Q&A session about finding and hunting Barramundi, Pearl Perch and the infamous Green Jobfish that challenge many spearos. There are some hairy stories in here about boating mishaps, sharks, big fish stories as well as some mindset discussion that might help you take your spearfishing to the next level. Listen into this episode with one of Australia's best spearfisherman, Tim McDonald. [] 'Fan-boy alert' - Tim's been one guy I've looked up to since I started spearfishing 6 years ago. He used to feature heavily in the now extinct Spearfishing Downunder Magazine DVD's, of which I spent countless hours watching. He's an interesting character that many of you may recognize from a highly popular YouTube video 'Spearfishing a 138kg Black Marlin' (vid at noobspearo.com). He gets taken for a ride with his reel gun and captures the entire experience on film. When he's not in the water, Tim serves as a Christian Pastor in the Western Suburbs of Brisbane where he also lives with his family. Funnily enough his son now has the spearfishing bug and has begun slowly usurping many of the Queensland state junior records.
