Quiero hacer énfasis en lo que vendría a ser el COP15, que es un convenio sobre la diversidad biológica de las NacionesUnidas que se celebró en el 2022 en Montreal. En ese convenio se acordó proteger al menos el 30% de tierras y océanos para el 2030, y está conocido como el objetivo 30x30. Es decir, que nosotros tenemos que procurar generar áreas protegidas, oceánicas, para asegurar la biodiversidad tanto de la fauna como de la flora.En este momento poco menos del 10% del océano global está bajo algún tipo de protección. Está establecido que si se logra este 30% de protección ambiental, nosotros vamos a generar una diseminación de esa situación a nivel global. Porque está establecido que las áreas protegidas marítimas tienen que estar cerca una de la otra. Se establecería algo que nosotros llamamos como una especie de sinapsis. Es decir, una intercomunicación de animales, de especies, exactamente deecosistemas, y eso estaría diseminándose en muy poco tiempo en forma globalhasta llegar al 30%.

Hay viajes que son más que viajes. Son regresos. Regresos a un lugar, a un ambiente, a una manera de entender la vela. Casi quince años hacía que no ponía un pie en una regata del circuito RC44 —hoy 44Cup—. La última, en Cascais. De aquellas todavía con Russell Coutts, presidiendo una clase diseñada a imagen y semejanza de los añorados AC75 que brillaron por última vez en Valencia 2007. Y, sin embargo, al llegar… nada parecía haber cambiado. Las mismas miradas. Los mismos saludos que parecen congelados en el tiempo. Los organizadores: idénticos. Las rutinas: intactas. Uno diría que el tiempo no pasa para la 44Cup; pasa por nosotros. Y cuando algo permanece, es cuando descubres lo rápido que vuelan los años. Y lo importante que es aprovecharlos. Porque esta sigue siendo una clase donde el armador no solo paga la fiesta: también la conduce. Literalmente. Son ellos quienes llevan la caña. Pero alrededor, un elenco que haría palidecer a cualquier circuito internacional: Francesco Bruni, Ian Percy, Iker Martínez, Vasco Vascotto, Cameron Appleton… Y paro, porque la lista es larga y a cual mejor. Es una clase peculiar, casi familiar. Y quizá por eso la familia Calero se enamoró de ella en su momento. Fueron pioneros. Después se ausentaron —sí, unos quince años— y la temporada pasada volvieron a probar. Este año ya han hecho el circuito completo. Y esa es, de verdad, una de las mejores noticias para la vela española: tener un equipo nacional compitiendo al máximo nivel. Que nuestros regatistas vuelvan a tener un escaparate y una oportunidad. Porque españoles en la 44Cup ya había. El Peninsula, por ejemplo, de John Bassadone: bandera de Gibraltar, tripulación española. Y luego los ilustres de siempre: Javi de la Plaza, Víctor Mariño… veteranos de los RC44 que nunca abandonaron el barco. En sentido literal y figurado. A todo esto se suma algo que en en cualquier otra regata cuesta explicar pero que en Canarias se entiende perfectamente: organizar bien, y con cariño. La familia Calero lo hace desde hace décadas. Pepe, José Juan, Daniel… y en tierra, Pilar , una fuerza de la naturaleza. Si en el agua sumas a María Torrijo dirigiendo con precisión quirúrgica, y a Nico y Pedro Martínez capturando imágenes, simplemente no puede fallar. Me alegra ver al Lanzarote Calero Sailing Team de vuelta. Me alegra que Calero Marinas apueste otra vez por grandes eventos. Foto: Michael Weyland Der Reisetipp: Sant Jordi liegt wie bereits erwähnt grade mal 45 Autominuten vom Flughafen entfernt, aber erfreulich weit weg von Ballermann und Co. - fast an der südlichsten Spitze der Insel in der Gemeinde Ses Salines. Von dort aus haben wir die Insel 10 Tage lang ohne Stress erkundet. Aufgrund der Lage von Sant Jordi empfiehlt es sich, zuerst an der Ostküste der Insel entlang zu fahren. Starten sollte man aber mit einem kurzen Trip in den südlichen Teil, zum 1863 erbauten Leuchtturm Far des Cap de ses Salines. Er liegt an der südlichsten Spitze der Insel, Luftlinie 7,5 Kilometer entfernt, mit dem Auto dauert es eine allerdings gute halbe Stunde. Foto: Michael Weyland Von dort geht es dann weiter in Richtung Norden, wir empfehlen als nächsten Stopp das gut 15 Minuten entfernte Santanyí, einen authentischen mallorquinischen Ort. Ideal für einen Besuch ist der Samstag. Dann ist Markttag in der Stadt, man sollte nicht zu spät dort sein, wenn man noch einen Parkplatz bekommen will. So bietet sich auch ein Frühstück in einem der Cafés rund um einen der schönsten Märkte der Insel an. Für essenstechnische Selbstversorger DIE Gelegenheit, landestypische Nahrungsmittel zu kaufen.    Foto: Michael Weyland Weiter geht es für rund 25 Minuten in Richtung Norden nach Cala d'Or , zu gut Deutsch, die „goldene Bucht“, mit einem kurzen Zwischenstopp am Hafen von Porto Petro, einem kleinen Hafenort mit gerade einmal 500 Einwohnern. Hier kann man am kleinen Yachthafen spazierengehen, sich einen café con leche gönnen und einen Blick auf die eine oder andere Yacht werfen.  Die Fans von größeren Yachten sollten allerdings gleich nach Cala d'Or weiterfahren. Foto: Michael Weyland Mit rund 600 Liegeplätzen kann man den Ort neben Palma, Port Adriano oder Andratx – zu den größeren und luxuriöseren Marinas zählen. Die meist zweistöckigen Gebäude haben fast immer eine weiß getünchte Fassade, die Architektur erinnert an Ibiza und so ist es auch gedacht. Nun können Sie sich entweder auf den rund 40-minütigen Rückweg nach Sant Jordi machen oder über Porto Cristo und Cala Millor bis hoch in den Norden der Insel fahren. Tomás Azcárate: “La gobernanza del mar sigue siendo la gran asignatura pendiente del turismo azul” Tomás Azcárate, presidente de Marinas de España, de la Federación Empresarial de Turismo y Ocio Marino y representante en Canarias, subraya que la gobernanza del mar es hoy una de las principales problemáticas que afectan al desarrollo sostenible de las actividades turísticas vinculadas al medio marino. Durante su intervención en La Diez Capital Radio, Azcárate señaló que, a pesar de la creciente importancia del turismo azul como motor económico, existe una falta de coordinación institucional y normativa que dificulta la gestión eficiente de los espacios marítimos y costeros. “El mar no puede seguir siendo un territorio sin una administración clara. Hay demasiadas competencias dispersas entre ministerios, comunidades autónomas, cabildos y ayuntamientos”, afirmó. Esta fragmentación, explicó, genera incertidumbre entre los empresarios y profesionales del sector náutico, que se enfrentan a trámites complejos, regulaciones contradictorias y ausencia de planificación común. El presidente de Marinas de España incidió en que esta situación “frena la inversión, limita la innovación y, en muchos casos, compromete la sostenibilidad de las actividades marinas”. Azcárate insistió en la necesidad de una estrategia nacional de gobernanza del mar, en la que participen tanto el sector público como el privado, y que permita conciliar el desarrollo económico con la conservación ambiental. Destacó que el turismo y ocio marino representan una oportunidad clave para diversificar la oferta turística española, especialmente en archipiélagos como Canarias, donde el mar es un recurso natural, cultural y económico de primer orden. “Hablar de turismo azul no es solo hablar de playas o puertos deportivos; es hablar de investigación, de formación, de empleo cualificado y de sostenibilidad real”, subrayó. Para Azcárate, el reto está en pasar de la retórica a la acción: “Tenemos que ordenar el mar del mismo modo que hemos ordenado el territorio, con criterios de sostenibilidad, de equidad y de gobernanza efectiva”. Con esta reflexión, el presidente de Marinas de España invita a repensar la gestión del litoral y del mar como un espacio compartido, donde confluyen intereses turísticos, pesqueros, energéticos y medioambientales. “Si no hay una gobernanza del mar sólida, no habrá un futuro sostenible para el turismo náutico ni para las comunidades costeras”, concluyó.

Te despierta un sonido extraño. Es un golpe en la ventana. Pero vives en el piso 12, ¿quién o qué podría estar llamando? Los golpes son cada vez más fuertes. Vas a la ventana, tomas la cortina y la apartas abruptamente ... Lo que ves es fantástico. Hay pequeños peces voladores (o flotantes) fuera de su ventana. ¡Miles de ellos! Un cardumen de sardinas que se eleva directamente al cielo. Algunos golpean tu ventana al pasar. Hay tantas sardinas que no puedes ver lo que pasa afuera. Pero cuando el último pez pasa volando, la imagen completa se abre ante ti. Peces grandes y pequeños vuelan entre las casas. Los pulpos cortan el aire con sus tentáculos formando una nube de lluvia. Una enorme ballena se desplaza lentamente hacia el horizonte. Sobre el techo de una casa cercana, dos tiburones persiguen a cuatro leones marinos. Un vecino te saluda. Sostiene una caña de pescar de la ventana y espera a que el pez muerda. Una bandada de delfines pasa volando por tu ventana. Silban alegremente, como si te estuvieran saludando. ¿Que está pasando? Las criaturas marinas de la Tierra han aprendido a volar, ¡dejando el océano y llenando el aire! ¡Sí, es uno de esos locos escenarios hipotéticos que tanto te gustan! Joe Harwood had a head start on becoming an owner of yacht clubs and marinas on Grand Lake. Joe was introduced to lake life because his father loved lakes and boating. It was during a summer break from college that Joe's first job was at Bomar's Marina on Grand Lake.After graduating he went to work full-time at the marina where he sold, repaired boats, and pumped gas. As a child, Joe dreamed about owning a marina. The dream came true when he purchased Arrowhead Yacht Club in 1982.He also developed Bomar's Marina into Arrowhead South Marina and, in 2007, he became the owner of Cherokee Yacht Club all in Duck Creek. Here is todays Let's Ask Paul Question: Here is my question: I live in a coastal area and have constant contact with customers that have a private dock with boat lifts. Typically, I see a 20- or 30-amp 250 volt rated GFCI protected circuit for the boat lift. Many times, I see a 120-volt as well, 15/20-amp GFCI protected receptacle at the dock. They label this outlets convenience outlets. Since article 555.33(A)(4). Required shore power to be rated not less than 30-amps how should I address this issue. Countless times I go to these boat lifts and see the convenience outlet being used as shore power. I know what the code reads but is there some reason that shore power is rated a minimum of 30-amps. This is Zack Fuss. Today, we are breaking down the U.S. Marina Industry. In the U.S. there are more than 11,000 marinas, grossing over $6 billion in sales.  Today, there is a 12 to 1 ratio of registered boats versus the supply of rentable wet slips and dry storage spaces. Zoning regulations lead to limited supply growth, which has led to a sustained backdrop of strong, profitable growth for the industry.  To break down the industry, I am joined by David Chesner, co-CEO of Grove Point Marinas, and Josh Koplewicz, managing partner of Thayer Street Partners. We discuss how Marinas are currently evolving from a largely local and independent model to one that is institutionalizing as an asset class and lowering the industry's cost of capital, helping to finance growth. And, to illustrate the unit economics, we cover the largest players in the space, including publicly traded Sun Communities' Safe Harbor Marina business.
