This episode features Rabbi Chaim Jachter's scholarly examination of the relationship between kashrus and personal trust in halacha (kim lei b'gavei). By introducing the recent Responsa Atzei Besamim (Y.D., no. 10), Rabbi Jachter investigates the parameters of trusting individuals with varying kashrus standards. His discussion addresses key issues, including The halachic implications of relying on others' assessments, the boundaries of dining in others' homes, and the general interplay between unity, inclusivity, and halachic adherence. Rabbi Chaim Jachter serves as a Rebbe at Torah Academy of Bergen County, Rav of Congregation Shaarei Orah the Sephardic Congregation of Teaneck, a Dayan on the Beis Din of Elizabeth NJ, advises more than sixty communities throughout North America with their Eruvin (including our own), and author of 19 sefarim...and today we get a sneak peak at his upcoming work on many pressing contemporary Kashrus issues.

EPISODE 182: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:43) Ok I'm sorry for all the scatological references; I'm just fed up. A Federalist Society judge discovered by Chump's worms sitting on a bankruptcy court has ordered that the former Assistant DA for Manhattan HAS to sit for a deposition for Jim Jordan's Dog-And-Pony-Dung-Eating show and aid Jordan's effort to wipe Trump's ass with the Constitution. Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil has the nerve to insist no one is above the law and others are playing politics. Alvin Bragg should charge her with Obstruction of Justice. It's just more evidence that we must remember the GOP - The Party of Human Skid Marks - declared war on the rest of us in 2015 and we need to stop pretending they didn't. This country must be saved from the Republicans. B-Block (17:20) IN SPORTS: Max Scherzer of the Mets ejected for a game for allegedly using unauthorized sticky substances on his hand. Problem is: they've had this rule three years, there have only been three objections, and they've all been by the same umpire: Phil Cuzzi. We may be returning to the infamous 1998 era of "UmpShow" in which the arbiters ejected everybody they could find, including once, during a game that decided which team would go to the World Series - me. (26:07) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Nancy Mace is proud she once waitressed at Waffle House. She may be headed back there after what she said about Biden. RFK Jr makes the mistake of running for president and running on the records of his father and uncles. And OH THE HUMANITY: a Matt WalshBlog speech is terrorized by "Antifa" armed with... marbles? C-Block (31:25) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: 39 years ago this month I packed up and moved to Boston to start my dream job, for which they - and I - had waited ten months. The job lasted... FIVE months. The anticipation is truly greater than the event!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Here we are back at my alma mater NYU, where I received my Doctorate in Physical Therapy, with Marawan Aboelwafa a current NYU student who looks to go down my footsteps into Sports Medicine and one day work for a professional sports team. I remember some long long days and nights here at this library. I didn't think I would be coming back to do a podcast interviewing an NYU student, rather I probably thought I would be working on a major baseball player's shoulder, but here I am and couldn't be more excited to share this absolutely inspiring story of an individual who grew up in a very notoriously rough neighborhood as a diamond in the rough. Marawan shares with us his keys to succeeding throughout his education, the inspiration behind wanting to become a PT as he sought out answers to his own hamstring injury, and also how we can all learn to be better mentors by continuing to strive for own development. I am honored to be a mentor for Marawan as he continues his educational journey and can't wait for everyone to hear his story to inspire us with our own goals through the face of the many challenges we all need to overcome. For those Physical Therapists and Sports Medicine professionals out there looking to help mentor Marawan with his Pre-PT education in the New York Tri-State Area Please Reach out to Marawan at e-mail: mya260@nyu.eduinstagram: @marooo32and LinkedIn: Marawan AboelwafaLastly, for those out there looking for branding consultation...NYU Marketing Professor Raphael Bemporad can be found on LinkedIn and his company website BBMG can be found at http://bbmg.com/Thanks everyone and look forward to keeping this great week of Podcasts going!-Dave

Anthony was born on August 10, 1916 in Elizabeth New Jersey. His father was an immigrant who made his living as a bootlegger during these times of Prohibition. By the time Anthony was heading into high school, he decided his time would be better spent making whiskey and selling it to his Father’s customers. During the war, he left to work for Boeing aircraft company in Seattle. After the war, he returned to NJ and began gambling on horse races to earn money. Well, you can imagine the mob characters that Anthony was dealing with and eventually he crossed them one too many times. One particularly close call happened with the Mafia decided to teach him a lesson he would never forget. Anthony was beaten within an inch of his life and tossed into the Newark City dump, where he was left for dead. Instead of becoming a feather in the cap of the mafia - Anthony survived, and knew that he needed to get out of town and make a fresh start. Anthony decided to head south to Florida. He didn’t have much money - only $18 in his pocket when he saw a sign that said “See Key West”. Anthony stopped at the race track in Homestead and started inquiring about Key West. He had already missed the last bus heading to Key West, but instead caught a ride with the milk truck. When he finally rolled into Key West, Anthony couldn’t believe his eyes. Bars were on every corner, slot machines all of the place and there were more women of ill repute than he could shake a stick at. He immediately said to himself, “This place is for me!” Anthony got work in the shrimp yards, heading shrimp. He eventually had some shrimp captains take him under their wing and show him the ins and outs of shrimping. Later, Anthony got his Captain’s license and began his fishing career. He had a great career and became a highly sought after charter fishing captain, and he held plenty of records! Eventually, Anthony began spending more time in the bars on Duval street. He loved the night life. He got along great with gay people because his brother was gay. He loved a good party, and knew everyone in town. He eventually had an affair with one of the Navy wines he met at a bar and caused quite a scandal. Eventually, the gay bar owner left town and committed suicide. So Anthony’s favorite bar closed down. Anthony missed that bar so much, that eventually his friends talked him into opening that bar back up. The word-famous bar that used to be Sloppy Joe’s and plied booze to the likes of Ernest Hemingway and Truman Capote now became Captain Tony’s bar. Anthony or “Captain Tony” as everyone knew him kept the place just like it was and could be seen there nearly every day of the week, until a couple of weeks before he died. It was today in Key West History, November 18th, 1964 that this Establishment, formerly known as the Oldest Bar at 428 Greene Street was placed “on limits” to Navy personnel. Can you imagine the stories that building could tell? I mean, the gays, the shrimpers, the women of ill repute, and now the Navy boys - what a time they had. And that is what happened today in Key West History. Today in Key West History is brought to you by 43Keys Media. To learn more fascinating stories about our beautiful Florida Keys and the Eccentrics who have called it home for generations, visit 43keys.com

He writes and plays music he writes poetry, and is currently working on a manuscript, he studies politics, spirituality, symbolism, history and a host of other topics. Daniel is a true renaissance man in that nothing disinterests him. This interview was recorded a while ago in the beginning of the summer, and it took place after the release of his self published book of poetry, "Urban Jungle Mystic".
