AND JUST LIKE THAT WE'RE AT 52 EPISODES! One for each week of the year. It's quite something when you think about it. There are 2 things about the year of podcasting I probably appreciate the most: The first one is the feedback I get from you, the listeners. It truly makes my heart sing! The second one is the interactions I have with my podcast guest. The wisdom....! So... I didn't want Episode 52 to be about me. Instead, I wanted this 52nd podcast to celebrate the podcast guests who openly shared what happens in the messy underbelly of our businesses. We had copious amounts of skills knowledge. That speaks. But my guests also invariably share the doubts, the constant learning, the process of trialling and failing and pivoting and ultimately ...figuring it out. THOSE are the precious moments. So, without further ado, here are YOUR FAVOURITE SNIPPETS FROM 5 RECENT GUESTS that are absolute gems. SAVOUR THEM, AND IF YOU HUNGER FOR MORE (AND I PROMISE, YOU WILL!

The pandemic affected her goals for the year, but it also opened up opportunities. Erica hopes that we all do our part to make things work and get through this health crisis. Despite having to do things virtually, the pandemic has given many of us the time and opportunity to connect with more people and further explore our relationships. Erica's Work as a Brand Strategist She guides her clients about the ins and outs and the emotional soul of their business. Erica aligns her clients' vision, mission, and purpose with other people to form relationships that will breathe life into their brand. Similarly, her brand has also evolved since she started. She now knows that she needs other people to make things happen. The only way you'll know how your brand lives and breathes is if you get in there and do something with it. Before Becoming a Brand Strategist Erica has always been on the development side of businesses. In the retail space, her job was to make sure the staff handled the customers with care. After moving to Florida, she was in the service-based industry. Her work revolves around helping people understand their customers' needs and how to deliver those. The Love the Work You Do Podcast She launched the podcast in November. Not everyone is a good fit for her services. That said, Erica believes the biggest gift she can give to people is to meet them where they're at in their journey by providing information, inspiration, and encouragement through her show. Her favorite thing about podcasting is having guests over and learning from their stories and journey. Do what you need to do until you can form systems. Then, find the people who can support your vision, mission, and purpose. Reaching Out to People According to Erica, she was only able to accomplish her goals because she reached out to people. Taking the time to learn and be curious about others served her well. She used to be very introverted. Working in retail, Erica can put on the charm and talk to people because she knows customers are interested. It was different for service-based businesses. You need to put yourself out there to succeed. Listen to the full episode to hear Erica's tips on how to navigate in-person networking! Erica's Marriage Erica and her husband Ed have been married for over seven years. They met in a networking event back in 2011. They were both previously married. After they both got divorced, Erica and Ed attended an event together for her work, where some people thought they were a couple. The week after the event, he sent her a message asking to talk, and the rest is history. Her husband is an insurance agent. Making Relationships Work Early in their relationship, they decided that it's not their job to make each other happy. It's our job to show up and make ourselves happy. It's not right to put all the pressure on your partner, whether it's about happiness or household concerns. Challenge yourself as a couple to do something epic every year. Listen to the full episode to learn about Erica and Ed's goals! Training Together for the Ironman Triathlon As a couple, they wanted to challenge their abilities, so they committed to participating in a marathon. After the marathon, their next goal is to join the Ironman Triathlon. Erica figured they need the guidance of someone who knows what they're doing. They found a team to train with, and she went from not knowing how to swim to swimming outdoors with dolphins. Listen to the full episode to learn more about their adventures while training for Ironman! Advice for Women Who Are Suffering Many of us have a tendency to make excuses. We need to step up to the plate and make decisions based on how we feel instead of blaming our circumstances. Ask yourself what you can control in the moment. 5 Powerful Quotes from this Episode “Don't get good; get done.” “I feel like the biggest gift that I could give people is giving them real-time examples and giving them like information where they're at.” “You do what you do until you can form the systems, and then you find the people that can support your vision and mission and purpose. “[In] any aspect of your life… If you just make the decision that you're going to move towards that goal, and you just show up every day and attempt to do something towards it, something freakin' magnificent will happen.” “We are grown people; we can step up to the plate and make decisions based on how we feel about things. And if we're letting outside circumstances dictate how we're showing up, we're doing wrong.” About Erica Erica Castner is the founder of Castner Consulting & Coaching. Following the words of Steve Jobs with today's guest entrepreneur finding the freedom to joining us on the Join Up Dots free podcast interview is going to be such a delight. She is a the host of not just Blog - The Queen Of Results, but also the Power Factor Biz Chat and has such a similar story to many of the guests who have appeared on the show that im sure most of you will be the same too. One of burnout, lack of confidence, debt and a myriad of other things, not least not seeing the family that she loved because she was working so hard. She had no freedom and a lifestyle that was totally out of wack. As she says in her own words ” I was incredibly burned out. So burned out, that all I wanted to do was drink a glass of wine or two and crash, only to get up and fake a smile through my next day. I felt like I was on a hamster wheel. Always moving but going no where. To make matters worse, my beautiful teenage “gift” daughters were crying because they wanted more quality time with me and their dad, but we were always working. That was the final straw. Later that summer, I made a commitment to get control in my life. I was tired of letting my circumstances get in the way of my happiness. I deserved to live out my dreams and I was determined to “rock my universe”. But then something came along which did rock her universe, even though she couldn't quite see the gift that had been placed in front of her at the time. Which lead her to start changing her life and break free from the 9 to 5 grind that had done so well to trap her for the last decade or so. And now she spends every day teaching business owners how to do the same. How to create a lifestyle that fits around the business, and not the normal route where business comes first. So has it been harder to change direction so drastically, or did things become easy when she started playing to her strengths? And as we ask all the time, when you have the freedom to control your own calendar how do you get anything done? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots and following the words of Steve Jobs, with the one and only super entrepreneur Erica Castner. You can choose to lead with only the good, but there is no grit to that. Style of Leadership Erica’s style of leadership is leading with a team mentality not a dictatorship. What Are You Excited About? Erica is launching The Queen Bee Revolution, hoping to end the worker bee mentality. Leadership Practice She asks herself three questions each night: “What are the things I did really well today?”, “What were the things I could do better?” and “What are my intentions moving forward into the next day?” Book to Develop Leadership The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom (A Toltec Wisdom Book) by Don Miguel Ruiz What Would You Tell Your Younger Self? To trust herself first and foremost. What you feel in your gut, will probably work out in your favor.
