The Spin Chagrin, a concept that finds Frank having to watch a movie he's never seen before based on the random spin of a wheel filled with off-the-wall genres, continues into its third year; the twist this year is that all the categories are quotables from Frank himself. In this episode, Frank's category was "Aztec Ally.” For this category, he watched and reviewed three different movies: the horror, non-comedy Phantom Fun-World, the Korean action-comedy The Roundup, and the most recent The Peanuts Movie from 2015.

Arthur Levine is a Theme Park Journalist at AboutThemeParks.fun, and has been covering the amusement industry for more than 30 years. Arthur has regularly contributed to USA Today, About.com, FunWorld, and several other publications where he covers all aspects of theme and amusement parks. His unique career has taken him all over the world, where he was able to attend the grand opening of Shanghai Disneyland, the 25th anniversary of Walt Disney World, and be among the first riders on Iron Gwazi at Busch Gardens Tampa and Mako at SeaWorld Orlando. In this interview, Arthur talks about theme park journalism, turning your passion into your career, and blending nostalgia with technology. Theme park journalism "I have a responsibility to the parks and to the readers, and I take that very seriously." The landscape of journalism has changed drastically over the past few decades, and the attractions industry has had to adapt in the way that stories are shared. While many of the core fundamentals of reporting remain the same, the ability for readers to respond and engage in dialogue has created challenges in today's landscape of social media - including clickbait, gratuitous negativity, and controversy for the sake of controversy. In response to this, Arthur has launched his own Substack, AboutThemeParks.fun, that allows him to offer a subscription service that avoids many of the challenges listed above. Both free and paid subscriptions are available, with bonus content made available to paid subscribers. Turning your passion into your career “If you can enjoy the work that you're doing, that's a great blessing.” Arthur has been passionate about amusement parks for as long as he can remember. As early as two years old, Arthur visited Revere Beach in Massachusetts with his mother and grandmother, and while everyone sat on the beach and looked at the ocean, Arthur faced the other way, enamored by the rides in operation at the park. Since then, Arthur has covered the theme park industry extensively. While there are many perks to his career, many people overlook the amount of hard work that go into producing quality content and meeting deadlines. Blending nostalgia with technology "There's a deep sense of nostalgia, but there's also a great sense of wonder to experience something new." One of the reasons people visit amusement parks is to relive memories from their childhood and to share these experiences with their families as they create new traditions. This creates an opportunity for parks - whether they are trolley parks that opened in 1800s or Disney theme parks - to preserve their heritage for years to come. It also creates a challenge, considering much of today's consumer demands greater use of technology. However, much of the industry was founded on the premise of showcasing new technologies that allowed them to wow and awe their guests. Therefore, when parks embrace new technology, it allows them to maintain their roots of providing cutting edge entertainment to guests. To subscribe to Arthur's substack, visit AboutThemeParks.fun. I've had a huge realization lately! One of my big takeaways from teaching fitness since the pandemic started is that when we make fitness FUN, more of us will choose it! Most of us gravitate towards fun and inviting. We can only sustain up-hill and push energy for so long. One of my favorite questions lately has been, “How can this more fun?” IN THIS EPISODE, I TALK ABOUT:When we make “hard things” FUN, we can receive it! What if fitness was more fun? What if we made the idea of mental health more fun? If you loved this episode, it would mean the world to me if you SUBSCRIBED to the podcast on your favorite podcast app and give it a 5 star review. The great value for American citizens also cannot be compared to what you’ll get for your dollar at its Asian counterpart. The conversation also includes talk about factors outside of the resorts. In addition, we look at cities and countries around these two hotspots that may add value to a trip.Tune in to hear more about these destinations, the best casinos and the kind of ice buckets you can expect to find!Key Points From This Episode:• Han’s provocative tweet about Macau being better than Las Vegas.• The top reasons why Han’s claim may indeed be accurate.• Enjoying the exploration element and jumping from one property to the next in Vegas.• Getting both the casino experience and the great hospitality in Macau.• The different kinds of casino vibes that the two places offer.• Michael’s fantastic experience of a trip ‘around the world’ in less than five days.• A point of view that Macau offers less excitement and energy.• Playing baccarat and being accepted by the Chinese around the table!• Differentiating between the different kinds of baccarat and how Asians tend to approach it.• Questioning whether Macau is really worth the effort it takes to get there.• Keeping in mind the distance from the airports to the casino hotels in both cities.• The advantage of Macau’s proximity to other travel-worthy places.• Why many people are still going to Vegas and the incredible value for Americans.• The value you can expect to get for your gambling dollar in Macau.• Mohegan Sun in Connecticut: A table lover’s ideal casino.• Why cluster casinos like Vegas and Macau will remain more popular than a standalone.• A funny story about a plastic ice bucket at Bally’s Atlantic City Hotel.Links Mentioned in Today’s Episode:Han on TwitterEric Rosenthal on TwitterAlso, you can find Eric Rosenthal on The Bettor LifeWSJ (paywall) article: Macau, Asia’s Vegas, Can’t Beat the Real McCoy for Fun World’s top gambling hub wants to be more like the Strip by getting tourists to spend bigger on entertainmentChasing Macau | Part 1 | Someone Is Opening A New Joint – Wynn Palace CotaiEmbrace ALL Gamblers | Why #Vegas Casino #Loyalty is BrokenMohegan Sun Encore Boston HarborZorkCast FaceBook Group- JOIN TODAY! The hosts discuss tracking versus email list retargeting and the best examples for using each at your attraction.“Retargeting ads are a form of online targeting advertising and are served to people who have already visited your website or are a contact in your database.” NEWS/Quick-TakesWhen: The Scientific Secrets of Perfect TimingBook by Daniel H. PinkBrad’s take: The book is a quick read that I didn’t completely enjoy, but there were some valuable takeaways. The chapter about the importance of endings was interesting and directly applied to attractions. “Endings are very important. Several studies have shown that experiences are judged by their ending. Peaks and endings are most prominently remembered. Just look at Yelp and TripAdvisor reviews. Signaling an ending can make people appreciate things more. For example, in a chocolate taste test, participants enjoyed the last chocolate more when told it was the last chocolate, even though it was exactly the same as the other chocolates. The hosts discuss tracking versus email list retargeting and the best examples for using each at your attraction. “Retargeting ads are a form of online targeting advertising and are served to people who have already visited your website or are a contact in your database.” NEWS/Quick-Takes When: The Scientific Secrets of Perfect Timing Book by Daniel H. Pink Brad’s take: The book is a quick read that I didn’t completely enjoy, but there were some valuable takeaways. In which Piers' podcast takes you on a subterranean, drifter-themed tour of all your favourite theme parks, and Erik champions both art and the art of making lists by ranking forms of art against each other Mortal Kombat tournament style. A wonderful episode to listen to if you're interested in Flinstones-centric Canadian theme parks, rude things being said about burlesque and crochet, hiding from cops, the works of Hanna-Barbera, unconventionally attractive nudists, tournament brackets, and the exact math of planning out a show schedule.

This week Ryan and Corey are Gina-less as they watch 1992’s Bebe’s Kids, a movie that is so fine it will make you want to get a job. A movie we all loved growing up, because it had bad language and wasn’t the typical animated fluff we were used to. A movie that to this day people still quote, especially the line “We don’t die, we multiply.” Sadly, this movie is a product of it’s time and doesn’t hold up whatsoever. The main draw was that it was a cartoon you weren’t supposed to watch and it really wasn’t 100% for kids and I think that’s why we all liked it so much. For those of you who don’t know, Bebe’s Kids is about Robin Harris recounting his disastrous first date with the ever so beautiful Jamika. Tagging along for the date are Jamika’s mild-mannered son Leon and Jamika’s friend Bebe’s three rude and obnoxious kids to a theme park called Fun World. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/bmoviebreakdown/support
Dear Listeners of CoasterRadio.com, Thank you so much for being a part of our lives during the past two years. It was a great experience producing the show and we couldn't have done it without the support of the thousands of you who came along for the ride every week. Working on this show reminded us of how much fun it is to go to an amusement park with your friends and forget about everyday life for awhile. We hope that listening to this podcast did the same thing for you. There were a lot of great moments both on-air and off-air, but here are some of the highlights: * We produced 80 original shows (about 48 hours of podcasting!) * We produced 13 on-location shows at The Walt Disney World Resort, Holiday World, Hersheypark, Six Flags Over Georgia, Kennywood, Busch Gardens Europe, Knoebels, Paramount's Kings Dominion, Six Flags Great Adventure and Dorney Park. * We were the only non-official podcast invited to the grand opening of Expedition Everest at Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom. * We were Commissioned by the State of Pennsylvania Office of Tourism to produce a "road trip podcast" to four of its amusement parks. * We interviewed Disney Imagineers Joe Rohde (Expedition Everest), Eric Jacobson (Rock 'n' Roller Coaster) and Mike Lentz (Mission: Space). * We interviewed Holiday World's Will Koch and several of the designers from The Gravity Group (The Voyage / Hades). * We were featured on Adam Curry and iTunes' Podfinder podcast. * We were featured in a July 2006 article about theme park podcasting in the amusement trade publication Funworld. All of these things happened because we were able to point to an large, active and loyal group of listeners. Without you guys, the show would have never taken off. This week, we present our series finale. It clocks-in around two hours long because we wanted to get in as many of your e-mails, voicemails and questions as possible. We also have a few surprises in there for you as well, including an original song written for the end of our show by Deidre Rodman of the Lascivious Biddies. Even though this is the end of the weekly version of CoasterRadio.com, we're hoping to keep this site alive to continue the friendships we have made while doing the show. We'll probably even produce new "special" episodes of the show during holidays and other times when it makes sense. So make sure you stay subscribed to our RSS feed! We're also working on a new podcast that will hopefully premiere sometime in 2007. While it won't be strictly about coasters, I'm sure we won't be able to go very long without mentioning them once in awhile. Thanks again for listening! We'll see you at the parks! Your friends, Mike, Mario, Flava, EB & Greg
