Our next guest, John Orosco, is revolutionizing this landscape as CEO of Red Rover Health. With over 25 years of healthcare IT experience, including his foundational role at Cerner developing their first API platform, John witnessed firsthand how rigid integration systems stifle innovation. This insight led him to co-found Red Rover Health, creating a normalized SaaS platform that serves as "the App Store for healthcare." By enabling true best-of-breed solutions through standardized APIs, John is breaking down the barriers that have long frustrated healthcare organizations. Join us to discover how Red Rover's pioneering approach is empowering providers to choose the tools they need while maintaining seamless EHR connectivity. Let's go!Episode Highlights:Healthcare's open integration platforms often get shut down when they threaten vendor sales of proprietary solutionsRed Rover Health serves as "the App Store for healthcare," enabling seamless third-party app integration with EHR systemsThe joke "if you've seen one HL7 interface, you've seen one" reflects how every integration requires custom codeHealthcare CIOs often function as "EMR administrators" rather than true technology innovatorsAI/ML represents the next frontier, with Red Rover positioning to enhance data access with AI-powered insightsAbout our Guest: John is a healthcare IT entrepreneur and expert in Electronic Health Record (EHR) integration with over 25 years of experience. John Orosco, CEO and Co-Founder of Red Rover Health is focused on interoperability in the healthcare industry and the potential impact of AI and automation in streamlining healthcare processes. The emergence of revised industry-wide standards has helped improve integration, but true ease of data sharing remains elusive. An app store approach and real-time data access are the next steps in the evolution of integration methodologies, allowing providers to access the best solutions and integrate them with the core EMR systems. John elaborates, "The app store concept, which goes back to what I was saying when I started in this industry in 1998, was the approach. It was to pick the best solution regardless of the vendor that solves this departmental workflow need and let's implement the best solution. Well, integration with the core electronic medical record system was so tough and so painful and so ugly that pretty much the entire industry shifted to one vendor of record. They were like, we're just going to select one vendor. We're going to forego and give up feature functionality. We know that other solutions are better, but everything will be integrated. So, the entire industry shifts to one vendor. With the advent of APIs and interoperability becoming less painful, that was the right model." "So an app store helps facilitate this notion that any provider, regardless of where you're in the country, should have access to the best solutions that any of these vendors offer. They should be able to integrate it with the medical record. It shouldn't be up to the EMR vendors, let's say, to dictate which solutions do and don't integrate or that their solutions are the only ones that are available. A true app store concept would open the door for all these great solutions that providers would have access to, and they get to decide which ones they want to implement and use." #RedRoverHealth #HealthcareInnovation #HealthTech #Interoperability #DigitalHealth #HealthIT #AIinHealthcare #SeamlessIntegration redrover.health Download the transcript here

The speaker highlighted the biblical principles of submission in marriage, stressing that submission should be voluntary and respectful. The impact of separation and divorce on children was also addressed, with a strong warning against supporting such actions. The overarching theme was the need for careful associations and beliefs to prevent divisions and maintain the integrity of Christian assemblies.

The blessings and woes are not two sides of a game of Red Rover in which one side might win over the other. They are not about dividing us or what will happen to us after we die. They are about how we see one another and how we lift up one another in this life, in act four—the life of the church—the body of Christ.

97% of domestic violence survivors say that concern about leaving a pet was a factor in their decision to leave an abusive situation. Yet, only 17% of domestic violence shelters accept pets. Emergency sheltering for victims of domestic violence is a critical need. Not everyone has access to the homes of family or friends as a means to find safety. Not enough shelters in New Jersey allow pets. And that needs to change. This is an issue the Community Foundation of New Jersey has leaned into thanks to a generous donor, Karen Lindemann, who left CFNJ a bequest that was designed to ensure that considerations around pets would not stop survivors from seeking help. In Karen's memory, the Community Foundation has launched an ambitious goal to ensure that at least one domestic violence shelter in each of New Jersey's 21 counties is outfitted to include survivors and their pets. Over two decades ago, an innovative partnership between The Planetary Society, NASA, and LEGO created the Red Rover Goes to Mars program. Today, we reflect on the program's remarkable achievements with our chief scientist, Bruce Betts. We're also joined by two extraordinary people whose lives were forever changed by their experiences as student astronauts in the program during their high school years. Courtney Dressing, an associate professor in the Department of Astronomy at the University of California, Berkeley, and Abigail Fraeman, the deputy project scientist for NASA's Curiosity Rover at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, share their inspiring journeys through the program and beyond. Then Bruce Betts returns to share more of LEGO's involvement in space exploration and a new random space fact. Often times, when we think about safety planning for survivors of domestic violence, we don't always think about the choices they have to make about one of the most special creatures to them - their pets. Join Racheal Reed-Maloney (she/her) and Katie Campbell (she/her), the Director of Collaboration & Outreach at Red Rover, as they discuss how perpetrators of violence use pets as a way to maintain power and control over survivors, the impact domestic violence has on pets, and options survivors have when they are considering leaving an abusive relationship.Check out the resources and statistics mentioned in this podcast below!Volunteer Opportunities with Red Rover redrover.org/responders Instagram: @redroverorgDomesticShelters.org Safe Havens Mapping Project https://www.safehavensforpets.orgNational DV Hotline https://www.thehotline.orgDon't Forget The Pets Project https://dontforgetthepets.orgMy Dog is My Home https://www.mydogismyhome.orgMy Pitbull is Family https://www.mypitbullisfamily.orgThe Michaelson Foundation https://www.foundanimals.orgNational LINC Coalition https://nationallinkcoalition.org25 by 2025.org. https://25by2025.orgPet Power & Control WheelIf you are in crisis and need immediate support, please call our 24/7 interpersonal violence helpline at 303-556-2255.Request an Appointment with an Advocate athttps://www.thepca.org/online-appointment-requestRequest a Violence Prevention Presentation at https://www.thepca.org/prevention-educationInstagram @phoenixcenter
Discussion of county secession in some states has been ongoing for years, and this sort of civil-war-style debate has now been expanded through movies and both political parties threatening chaos depending on the outcome of the Supreme Courts ballot decision for 2024. But the bigger issue is the border dispute between Federal and State officials over Eagle Pass, Texas, and the implications this has for future border security. The Executive Branch is clearly in violation of Article 4, and possibly Amendment 10, yet is asking the SCOTUS to override the authority of Texas in securing their border. The media has lied nonstop about the issue and many have denied there are even illegal crossings, or that they have exploded in numbers. Now Federal officials are blaming immigrant drownings on Texans and anyone who doesn't want an open border, which ultimately benefits Republicans and Democrats with labor, and Democrats in particular with votes.

The WHEN DATING HURTS podcast has covered many facets of the domestic violence issue. But this one is new. Abusers often have patterns of violence towards all members of a household including children and pets. It's difficult enough for the abused to find shelter for themselves. For that reason, many survivors stay in abusive homes for fear of subjecting their pets to continued abuse if left behind. And sometimes, it's not only abuse, it's torture or death. RedRover, established in 1987, sought to do something to bring animals out of crisis. We will talk about the work of this wonderful organization with Katie Campbell, RedRover's Director of Collaboration and Outreach. Contact RedRover here. Jenn's professional journey started in music education, and it was after her transition into school administration that she discovered her deep-seated passion for leadership and conflict resolution. After watching a positive workplace fall apart, Jenn made it her mission to share her powerful message of how personality and leadership intertwines, making her a perfect guest for our podcast! In this interview, Jenn tells us about creating positive culture with complex people, conflict as posture, and the importance of rest. Creating Positive Culture with Complex People "Welcoming people as whole people creates more productivity at work." Jenn shares that workplaces should be viewed as communities, not families. By fostering an environment where colleagues are welcomed with open arms, individuals feel at ease being their authentic selves at work. This approach not only promotes diversity and contributes to a positive workplace culture where emotions are valued, but it helps people experience that wonderful sense of belonging. Jenn's strategy, known as Joyosity, revolves around what she calls the "Three E's" - Exploration, Engagement, and Experience. This approach encourages colleagues to freely explore their work, become deeply engaged in their tasks and responsibilities, and ultimately have a great experience by feeling welcomed and appreciated. Conflict as Posture "80% of conflict is miscommunication." Viewing conflict as a posture is simple - instead of thinking of conflict as individual vs. individual - Jenn says it should instead be looked at like the game ‘Red Rover', where it's an intertwined team fighting to break the conflict across the field. It's not people vs. people, it's people vs. conflict. Additionally, most conflict stems from limited resources and different angles. Instead of framing these situations as conflicts, consider them opportunities for problem-solving that can help the identification of miscommunications and lead to the resolution of the "conflict" in a much more straightforward manner. The Importance of Rest "As leaders, we should encourage people to take time off." It's simple, when we're not rested, we're not effective. Jenn shares that most of the Western world overworks themselves and has lost the true definition of rest. Rest is recognizing that we're limited, and when we accept and work around those boundaries, we become much more productive. Jenn highlights that she has three essential keys to achieving proper rest. First, she emphasizes the value of taking mini-breaks to relax the brain. Second, utilizing all of your allocated vacation time can significantly contribute to productivity. Lastly, she underscores the critical importance of tending to your body's physical needs, which includes maintaining a healthy diet and ensuring adequate sleep to get true rest. What starts out as a segment about phobias quickly devolves into a conversation about being afraid of everything. Fun fact, the US government has done some pretty messed up things through the years, all in the name of "helping" other countries. Also, the guys continue to lament their lack of black friends and discuss hiring one (is that legal?). Miami & butts, Red Rover, and bath salts. They are THOSEGUYSYOUHATE!

Pete Warhurst probably would not have picked “entrepreneur” as a career when he was growing up. He loved his job as a firefighter and paramedic and might have done it for life, had a colleague not recruited him to help launch a company to build 911 call systems. After that business sold, Pete began to think about new problems to solve – like a better way to move and store our stuff. In 1998, he began disrupting the self-storage industry with PODS, a system that brings storage containers to the consumer, then transfers them to a warehouse. The business quickly spread from Clearwater, Florida to franchises across the country, eventually selling for about $450 million. But Pete still thought there was a better way to schlep your stuff to a storage facility, so he launched yet another business—Red Rover—that now competes with PODS. Our editors, joined by both Matt Peterson and Helen Roy, have thoughts on the logic of the draft decision, as well as where we go from here.
