The last 15 years, Mike & Keys solidified their status as an iconic production team on the hip-hop scene. They defined the sonic approach of albums and mixtapes like de Dom Kennedy's Get Home Safely, Nipsey Hussle's Slauson Boy 2, Buddy's Harlon & Alondra, Dave East's How Did I Get Here. They also produced tracks for Snoop Dogg, BJ The Chicago Kid, Tha Dogg Pound, Casey Veggies, Dr. Dre, Blxst. With a few other producers, J-Keys et Money Mike helped to reshape the Soutch California rap aesthetic. In particular on the highlight Victory Lap, last and only studio album by the late Nipsey Hussle, where they found balance between the new airy sounds of the 2010's and twenty years of nervous groove from the Great Los Angeles area.As they were in London and Paris at the beginning of this year, to meet and work with some European artists, Mike & Keys took their time to talk with us about their career, their music heritage, how they met and learned to work with each other, and the most remarkable productions from their discography.Credits :Host : Raphaël Da CruzRecorded on January 20th 2024Recording and editing : Pauline AngladaVisual : Sébastien Le GallProduction : L'Abcdr du Son Hébergé par Acast. Hey guys, Ryan DeMent here from the Chasing Happiness Podcast. I hope you're having a fantastic day! This week, we're diving into some crazy times with a hot topic that affects us all—healthcare and health insurance. I'm thrilled to welcome Harlon Pickett to the show. With over 20 years in the health insurance industry, Harlon has seen it all and is here to blow your mind with game-changing insights. In this episode, Harlon and I will differentiate between health insurance and healthcare – two things we've been led to believe are the same. Spoiler alert: they're not! We'll discuss how the introduction of Obamacare has driven the cost of health insurance through the roof, making it unaffordable for many, and how deductibles and out-of-pocket costs continue to skyrocket. Harlon shares his journey of discovering better ways to get the care we need without being tied to traditional insurance plans. We'll explore why 61% of Americans won't see a doctor unless they're seriously ill and how 70% feel the healthcare system has failed them. Harlon will also reveal how to find high-quality, affordable physicians and clinics and why the average primary care doctor spends ONLY 5-7 minutes with each patient. If you're tired of the same old approach and want to learn how to break free from the sheep mentality in healthcare, this episode is for you. Tune in and redefine your healthcare journey! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/chasinghappiness/message

When Football Is Football is part of the Sports History Network - The Headquarters For Sports Yesteryear.EPISODE SUMMARYStories about unknown or undrafted collegiate players making it big in the NFL, are rare, but always entertaining! One such case occurred in December of 1953 when Chicago Bears' assistant coach Clark Shaughnessy was scouting the Blue-Gray all-star game in Montgomery, AL. A local coach shared that “the best end in this part of the country wasn't chosen to play in this game.” From the hotel lobby gossip, Shaughnessy learned about a rangy, and unstoppable, big end from Florence State Teachers College (now North Alabama) known as Harlon Hill who was not invited to the game simply because he was from a smaller college. The other coaches who had seen this marvel in person considered Hill a better prospect than any one from the bigger state schools such as Alabama or Auburn. This guy apparently had super-hero powers on the gridiron and could easily demolish any and all opposition. And yet, during his senior season, with his team running the archaic single wing offense, the talented end captured just 12 passes for 246 yards for the year. By that time, he was a marked man on offense due to his speed and exceptional hands........Read the entire episode blog post and check out some other cool info regarding this episode here.WHEN FOOTBALL WAS FOOTBALL BACKGROUNDEach episode takes the listener back to the very early days of the National Football League. Author Joe Ziemba will share a forgotten or lost story from one of the NFL's two oldest teams: The Bears and the Cardinals. Team championships, individual exploits, or long-buried items of interest from the earliest years of the NFL will be dusted off and resurrected for the listener. Not for the football faint-of-heart since these programs will document when the struggling Bears nearly went out of business or when Cardinals' players earned $15 a game and were proud of it! It's NFL history—with a twist!. Interview by Kris Peters,Despite the fact the COVID period is a part of our lives most would rather forget, there were a number of people who spent their time more productively due to the enforced lockdowns and regulations.Refusing to be defeated by an unseen adversary, Tim Coutts-Smith - vocalist for Melbourne fuzz rock outfit Jack Harlon & The Dead Crows - channelled his frustrations on an area that he knew would always provide hope.Music.Rather than using the time to create his own sonic landscape, Coutts-Smith instead looked deeper within to a musical time that quite possibly played a subliminal role in shaping his craft as a musician. He began listening to some of his personal favourites with a view to spicing them up considerably, before opening the process up to the public when he asked fans to suggest songs that could benefit from being he termed as Harlon-ified.A massive influx of material cluttered his social media with the main selection criteria being the chosen few would be from less mainstream artists that were not yet household names. He wittled the list down to eight tracks and sprinkled his own DNA over the new recordings with sensational results. This fuzz-drenched, genre-crossing love letter includes songs by under-the-radar icons like Bauhaus, God, Butthole Surfers, Joy Division, The Melvins, and more has hit the airwaves today, February 17 under the title of Hail To The Underground, with Coutts-Smith offering up some of his spare time to chat with HEAVY earlier today."I'm pretty stoked man," he smiled. "It's been a long time coming. I recorded this and finished it well over a year ago, so it's been a long year of waiting for it to finally come out."Even the concept behind tackling a project like this is enough to put most people off, but Coutts-Smith argues it actually provided him distraction from the world wide horrors that surrounded him at the time."It really started in lockdown when I was recording our second album Magnetic Ridge," he explained, "and towards the end of that process it was slowly disintegrating on my computer. There was one point where I nearly lost the whole hard drive and the whole album so I thought okay, I've got to get a new computer and new audio. Naturally when you get a new audio set up you wanna test it out, so I just started going through songs that I love and trying to make them as heavy as possible. Then I thought there's enough here that I should put an album out. I did a few carbon copy covers at the start just to test it out but I was finding the more I'd record, the more I would wanna add all these bits in so eventually I'm adding all of these parts that aren't in the original songs. I thought half of this record is now original so I might as well continue (laughs)."In the full interview, Tim talks more about how he chose the initial list of songs, what criteria he used to narrow it down, changing the structure of the music to put his stamp on it, which one he enjoyed covering the most, the recent 1000mods tour postponement, upcoming shows and more.

We also discuss how different the process may have been if she was in hospital or even if she had a midwife present at home. The cast hadn’t seen one another in months, and while talking about the success of season 1 was on everyone’s minds it was clear how much they missed one another, and were overjoyed to see everyone. Fans of the show have been blowing up social media with their love and reactions, especially about the season finale. No one in the cast knows who the other passenger in the car is, and while everyone attempted to drag it out of showrunner Sheryl J. Anderson, and EP Norman Buckley, they were not letting the cat out of the bag! What the entire cast was sure about was their gratitude for the fan reaction making Sweet Magnolias Netflix’s #1 most watched show, and what a magical time they all had working together creating the community of Serenity. We can’t wait for more Serenity! Harlon Accola is the National Reverse Mortgage Director for Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation, and reverse mortgages are all he’s done for the last sixteen years. More recently he’s been training other professionals in how reverse mortgages mesh with overall financial planning. It is true that if you do a reverse mortgage you will lose equity, but it’s not about losing equity, it’s about spending equity. A reverse mortgage is simply a way to get your money back out in a tax free way that you can use to fund your retirement. You lose equity but you will gain cash. You won’t have to pull that money out of somewhere else, which will allow your investments to continue growing. Everything is expensive if we don’t understand the value. Reverse mortgages are more expensive than most other mortgages, but that’s because of the protection you get from the mortgage insurance. Everything costs something, no matter where you take out the money you will pay to access it. The question is “does the value justify the cost?” A reverse mortgage can actually be better for inheritors than other options. If someone gets a reverse mortgage at 62 instead of waiting, they will have more cash flow during their lifetime, they will pay less taxes, they will have a higher net worth, and a bigger legacy to pass on to their children. What decreases the inheritance to children is long life and spending down assets, not reverse mortgages. By putting that money into a more effective investment, your children will end up better off. The alternative to living off your home equity during retirement is spending down all your other assets. By using your equity, it gives your investments more time to grow at higher interest rates. There are a number of new rules that have been put in place to make sure that people don’t end up on the street after taking out a reverse mortgage. The only way to lose your house with a reverse mortgage is if you don’t pay the taxes or stop living in it. Most fears around reverse mortgages are unfounded. Banks don’t want your house. If you die early, your heirs get whatever equity is left. The bank doesn’t become the owner of the home. If the reverse mortgage goes upside down by the time you die, your heirs won’t owe any extra money. If it doesn’t go upside, your heirs get the difference. Reverse mortgages are truly tax free, because borrowed money is not taxable. Because you are not selling your house you will not pay tax. Reverse mortgages can not cause a taxation issue, it can only be a tax deduction. A reverse mortgage is a source of money that isn’t taxable so it makes Roth conversions much easier to calculate and more useful. The majority of Harlon’s clients are mainly affluent and use reverse mortgages to optimize their retirement investments and decrease their taxes. Many investment advisors say that you can’t use a reverse mortgage to fund an investment product, but that’s not what’s happening here. It’s about using cash flow properly to replace money that is otherwise going to come out of higher cost and taxable accounts. There is $7.1 trillion sitting in people’s houses. If by working with advisors, we can create liquidity. We can change the way retirement is done in this country. Everyone is skeptical about reverse mortgages at first, but you should run the numbers to see if your skepticism is valid.
