Hey there! Hello, hope you're doing well and had a great start to your day. This week has been quite interesting for me, from being drafted into a full day at the practice to a mastermind meet in London with fellow business owners. In my latest podcast episode, I dive into the details of these experiences and share insights from a mastermind group where we discussed challenges, strategies, and business growth. Wednesday in London: I met up with a diverse group of entrepreneurs, including real estate fund managers, business performance coaches, software SAS business founders, and more. We exchanged ideas, tackled challenges, and learned from each other. Mastermind groups are invaluable for gaining different perspectives and insights, especially in areas like organizational leadership and strategy. Thursday Team Day: This week marked a significant moment – the first time my entire team gathered in the office together after almost three years. While we've been working remotely successfully, I sensed a need to strengthen our team cohesion. In this episode, I share the leadership strategies and exercises I used to build trust, foster open communication, and address challenges within the team. Trust-Building Exercises: I draw inspiration from Patrick Lencioni's work, particularly "The Five Dysfunctions of a Team." One exercise we did was the "Personal Histories Exercise," where team members shared where they grew up, their siblings, and unique childhood challenges. This vulnerability-based trust is crucial for fostering healthy conflict, commitment, accountability, and achieving collective results. Redefining Remote Work: While I still advocate for autonomy in work, I've realized the importance of occasional in-person interactions. Our team day reinforced the benefits of face-to-face communication and personal connections. It's about finding the right balance and understanding that remote work doesn't mean sacrificing the value of shared physical space. Looking Ahead: I've committed to more regular team meetings, sharing achievements, discussing challenges, and reinforcing our collective vision. Additionally, I'll delve into Patrick Lencioni's "Death by Meeting" principles in future episodes, exploring the four types of meetings for maximum productivity. So, join me in this episode as I reflect on the nuances of remote work, the power of team dynamics, and the strategies to build a cohesive and thriving work environment. Working from home became the norm for millions of us around the globe during the Covid-19 pandemic, but now three years on some major employers are insisting on their employees returning to the office, for at least some part of the working week. The levels of working from home currently vary, depending on the country and its culture. The Netherlands are looking at legislation to allow employees the ability to work remotely, whilst in Japanese culture the preference for employees tends to be going into the office. So how do we navigate a future where both business and personnel needs are met to provide a good work life balance. This week on the Inquiry we're asking ‘Is work from home working?' In this episode, Taylor dives into what it's been like being a stay-at-home working mom.Back in 2013 when Taylor had her baby, she and her husband decided it would be best for her to be a stay-at-home mom. Her husband traveled for work a lot, typically home for 10 days and gone for work 10+ days at a time. This came with a lot of challenges, but was the best decision for their family at that time in their lives. Neither of them wanted their son to be in daycare and raised by another. While Chris would be away, Taylor was responsible for taking care of her son and everything at home. Taylor used that time to go to school, take courses, and start her own businesses that could be done from home. Since then, Taylor has built multiple businesses. Taylored for You Coaching, which is an online and in-person fitness business, Hula Hoop Fitness Utah, which is a hula hoop fitness business where she teaches people how to hula hoop for fitness and dance, Notary Signing Services, which is a business where she is a notary signing agent. On top of this, Taylor rents out her home gym to those who want a private space to work out.If you're interested in joining TFY Coaching there are limited spots available at this time. APPLY HERE

I have a love-hate relationship with working away from home every week as part of my job as an electrician. It often involves staying in different locations due to the nature of the work. While there have been both positive and negative experiences, ranging from staying in less-than-ideal accommodations to even enjoying the second-best hotel in China, The years I've spent working far from home on the other side of the world have provided me with cherished memories and incredible moments. In this podcast, I delve into the highlights of my lodging experiences throughout my apprenticeship. I share the remarkable moments and fantastic encounters I've had while being away from home. Episode #218 // The dust is well and truly starting to settle on the Covid pandemic, and life is back to relative normality. But one of the lingering hangovers that hasn't yet lifted is the issue of hybrid work. Many companies are increasingly keen to see their employees return to the office… but many of their people increasingly don't want to do so.How is the work landscape developing, and what does it mean for leaders who have to manage their people's return to the office and, in many cases, set the rules for future expectations and behavior? While we immerse ourselves in arguments about the productivity benefits of working from home, many people are becoming jaded with the new work paradigm, as their sense of purpose, team culture, and identity continue to decline. In this episode, I look at the latest research, surveys, and expert opinions on the return to office minefield. In a broad-ranging episode, I explore some of the challenges that this presents, including what top executives are planning for their companies in 2023, and how to manage the 4 obstacles that could hamper a successful return to the office. This is the last in a 3 part series I've been doing about publishing my webcomics as print-on-demand books on Amazon. I thought I would share this on the art podcast as I'm doing the setup for my fourth book this year. In the previous episode, I shared how my webcomic transformed from something I was just posting on my website, to a thing that I could find multiple uses for at once. In this episode, I go over the actual publishing process using Amazon KDP to make the book and what the royalties are after Amazon takes out the printing cost from the sale price of the book. I recently made a series of videos about publishing my webcomics as print-on-demand books on Amazon. I thought I would share this on the art podcast as I'm doing the setup for my fourth book this year. I've been doing my webcomics since 2017 and every year I put together a collected version of them into a book. I hope that this helps anyone who has been thinking of making a book out of their own artwork or will benefit anyone that may have been thinking about transforming their own artwork into a book. What stops a space feeling just right? From Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs through to research on the challenges of hot desking and the realities of working from home; perched at the kitchen table... this episode explores how do we create the most conducive space for us to be FULLY present.I also raise the question of what are the unspoken rules we've created or adopted - the rules that somehow determine the way we're using a space. And from there, what are the tiny changes we can make to the space we're in, so we can REALLY belong.Henny xhttps://www.hennyflynn.co.uk/Shop The Heart of Change, my NEW bookhttps://www.shookbop.com/products/the-heart-of-change-by-henny-flynnIf you enjoyed this episode, please do leave a review on Apple Podcasts.Watch the unedited version on YouTube... https://youtu.be/7SKqR-XqxTM and please do subscribe for future episodes Join the mailing list & receive the mini-course '3 little acts of self-compassion', completely free https://hennyflynn.ck.page/6e83d0227eExplore Henny's coaching, books, retreats, courses & events https://www.hennyflynn.co.uk/
As millions of us have had to stay away from our workplaces during the pandemic, Claudia Hammond explores the psychology of working from home versus the office. Some people have loved not having to commute and quietly beavering away at home, but others have missed the buzz of the office, found balancing family and work at home very difficult with lack of space or limited internet access. So in the future when Covid is less of a worry what does the evidence tell us about where it's best to work? This week is a solo episode where I share a HUGE milestone in my journey. I shared it on Twitter and thank you to all the kind words and support. Matching my old monthly corporate earnings working for myself was a milestone that felt so far out of reach just 6 weeks ago that it shocked me when it happened seemingly so quickly. Like most stories, this wasn't fast, easy or without a lot of work from me and support from so many others. I break it all down and walk you through how I got here. It's said that loneliness can increase your risk of death by 26% and poor social connections are as bad for your health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. Being a solo or an at-home worker increases your chances of being lonely, something our host Rebecca Seal dealt with and a feeling that led to the creation of The Solo Collective. Chartered Psychologist and Author of How to Build a Healthy Brain, Kimberley Wilson joins us for the series finale. We explore how we can stop it in its tracks by learning about loneliness and celebrate the working revolution as a united front instead. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
