Residential Clean Energy Tax Credit: 25D This 30% credit applies to purchase and installation costs for: · Solar panels · Solar water heaters · Fuel cell property expenditures · Small wind turbines · Geothermal heat pumps · Battery storage systems The amount of the credit you can take is a percentage of the total improvement expenses in the year of installation with no annual maximum or lifetime limit: · 30% for 2022 - 2032 · 26% for 2033 · 22% for 2034 Energy Efficient Home Improvement: 25C (Up to $3,200 Available Now) DESCRIPTIONThe Inflation Reduction Act significantly expands and extends the 25C tax credit, now known as the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit. Previously, this tax credit was limited to 10% of your project costs but is now increased to up to 30% and available on an annual basis. After January 1, 2023, qualified energy-efficient improvements to your home may qualify you for tax credits worth up to $3,200. ELIGIBILITYYou may claim the energy efficient home improvement credit for improvements to your main home. Your main home is generally where you live most of the time. You can't claim the credit if you're a landlord or other property owner who doesn't live in the home. For the energy efficiency home improvement credit, the home must be: · Located in the United States · An existing home that you improve or add onto, not a new home Homeowners can claim up to $2,000 for heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, or biomass stoves. Upgrade costs eligible for the credit can include equipment, installation, and labor costs. Homeowners can also claim up to $1,200 for other weatherization installs and energy-efficient improvements including up to: · $150 for a home energy audit · $250 for a new exterior door ($500 total for all exterior doors) · $600 for new exterior windows and skylights · $1,200 for insulation · $600 for an upgraded electrical panel. High-Efficiency Electric Home Rebate HEEHRA The Inflation Reduction Act includes $8.8 billion in rebates for home energy efficiency and electrification projects, which is expected to save American households up to $1 billion annually. This legislation provides point-of-sale discounts to low- and moderate-income households across America to electrify their homes. When households make qualifying electrification purchases, they will receive these rebates as immediate, off-the-top discounts. Your State will administer the program, which provides rebates on ENERGY STAR-certified appliances and other home electrification projects. It may take 1-2 years to get the program up and running in your state. Please note that homeowners can only receive a rebate from either the HEEHRA or the HOMES program (additional information below)—not both. However, it is expected that homeowners will be eligible, pending DOE guidance, to combine both a rebate from either of these two rebate programs with an energy efficiency tax credit at the same time.

Welcome to the PNB Podcast, where we help you make the most of your money. I'm your host, Wayne Weathersby, and today's topic is all about getting your tax refund back faster. We all know that waiting for your tax refund can be a frustrating experience, but there are some tips and tricks that can help you get your money back faster. SEGMENT 1: FILE YOUR TAXES EARLY The first tip to getting your tax refund back faster is to file your taxes early. The earlier you file, the earlier the IRS will process your return, and the earlier you'll get your refund. In fact, if you file your taxes electronically, you can get your refund in as little as 21 days. So, make sure you have all your documents in order and file your taxes as soon as you can. SEGMENT 2: CHOOSE DIRECT DEPOSIT The second tip is to choose direct deposit. If you choose direct deposit, your refund will be deposited directly into your bank account, which is much faster than waiting for a paper check to arrive in the mail. Plus, direct deposit is also safer and more secure than a paper check, which can be lost or stolen. SEGMENT 3: AVOID MISTAKES ON YOUR TAX RETURN The third tip is to avoid mistakes on your tax return. Mistakes can cause delays in processing your return, which means it will take longer to get your refund. Make sure you double-check all your information before submitting your return. Common mistakes include incorrect Social Security numbers, misspelled names, and math errors. SEGMENT 4: USE IRS E-FILE The fourth tip is to use IRS e-file. E-filing is faster and more accurate than paper filing, and it's also free if your income is below a certain level. If you use tax preparation software, it will guide you through the process step-by-step and help you avoid mistakes. SEGMENT 5: CHECK YOUR REFUND STATUS The final tip is to check your refund status. You can check the status of your refund on the IRS website or by calling their toll-free number. Checking your refund status will give you an idea of when you can expect to receive your refund --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wayne-weathersby/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wayne-weathersby/support

Wednesday March 22, 2023 - The Inflation Reduction Act provided the IRS with a boat load of money. The Act also put aside $15 million for the IRS to conduct a study to find out how to create a program that allows Americans to file their taxes for free. As we all know. There is nothing more expensive than when the government gives something away. This free tax filing plan was the brain child of Senator Elizabeth Warren. She insisted this provision be included in the Act before she would support it. What most of the public does not know is - there is already a free file program at the IRS. If you make less than $73,000.00 you can file your 2022 federal tax returns for free. However, the Free File progrqam is not used by many taxpayers. According to the IRS, More than 100 million people, almost 70% of all taxpayers, qualify for Free File. Since the program launched the Free File program in 2003, according to the IRS, less than 2% of eligible Americans have taken advantage of it. Attorney Steven A. In today's program, Trish Regan highlights the hidden truth behind the explosive Donald Trump tax headlines; the tax code is rigged against the middle class. Think about it, Regan says... Meanwhile, Private Equity billionaires still enjoy a huge tax loophole. How is that fair? President Obama promised to fix this... (for that matter, so did Trump and Biden)...and yet? The inequity of the U.S. tax code is now fully on display and we have our politicians to blame. Also in today's program: The future of home prices as sales plunge and interest rates skyrocket. What will Biden's promise for continual aide in Ukraine will mean for inflation? And, FTX crypto entrepreneur Sam Bankman-Fried returns home to U.S. to face the music.
