Delusion and Ego in the Art of Comedy Ft. Stand Up Comic Joe Sib. Subscribe to our channel here: http://www.youtube.com/@chatsandtatts Aaron Della Vedova, host of the podcast Chats and Tatts, welcomes local comedian Joe Sib to the show. Joe grew up in the Santa Cruz Mountains of Northern California and had a unique upbringing due to living on a ranch. As a result, he had limited access to what other kids were listening to and he would cruise around with a little blue radio, listening to Abba and the Village People, Elton John, the Eagles, and Carly Simon. After his parents divorced, Joe began visiting his dad in San Jose and discovered a new world of punk music at a skateboard park. He was hooked! The conversation takes us through Joe's career in music and his transition from owning Side One Dummy Records to stand-up comedy and how punk rock influenced the speaker's life. He. also delves into his love for the stage, the challenges he faces even today as a comedian, social media, the 'woke' movement and its impact on comedy, and invites you all to his upcoming headlining show in La Jolla, CA at the Comedy Club. Jay Mohr, Joe Sib, Cameo Roulette
Comic Joe Sib is that rare human who takes new endeavors that might normally intimidate the rest of us as a challenge. His punk-rock band Wax struck gold in the early 90's with a hit song California and a video directed by Spike Jonze known as the burning guy running in slow-mo video, then parlayed the success from that band into starting Side One Dummy Records, a label responsible for bands like Flogging Molly, Gogol Bordello and Gaslight Anthem among many others. Later, after the success of touring on his one-man show "Joe Sib: California Calling" he mounted the most grueling of challenges and one he'd been contemplating : life as a stand-up comic. He's toured with Jim Breuer often, even opening for Metallica for a tour, and has been a headliner across the US for the past decade, centering on a story-telling style that belies his punkrock past and leans into his life as a family man.
Joe Sib is a force of positive energy and a man who wears many hats. We chat comedy, music, life, perseverance, staying young at heart while passing the torch to the next generation and so much more. This is a super rad, uplifting episode. ENJOY!! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

This super special episode I got the chance to sit down with Joe Sib while he was on tour with Joey Cape and Jose from MakeWar. Who's Joe Sib? Well let's see this amazing comedian has shared the stage with um.... METALLICA for starters. How about Joe is Co-owner and co-founder of legendary record label SideONE Dummy (If you ever got the Warped Tour Comp, you can mail Joe and his team your thanks). Joe was a member of 22 Jacks a punk rock "Super Group" (if that's a thing, it certainly was in this case) as well as influential 90's Punk Rock group Wax. Look Joe rules and amazing and he's super fun. I plan on checking out Joe when he comes back to town. Check this episode out and make sure to catch him ASAP!

ReRevisited sound familiar ? This is the rawest, unedited episode to date. You’ll enjoy the behind the scenes stories of Metallica circa 2018-19 right here on ...APFA. They called it the LIGHT IT UP Preparty with Jim Breuer and Joe Sib. What 35 North American tour dates turned into for Joe Sib was truly amazing. Imagine DJing a 20,000 seat arena and then em-ceeing for an hour or two to keep us the Metallica fans entertained and engaged right to the opening of Ecstacy of Gold. Joe Sib did just that, treating it like a good friends get together in a back yard, cranking tunes, getting people fired up next to the keg, and then the local band shows up. Only the band is Lars, James, Kirk, and Robert for 35 dates sharing an in the round stage. Joe digs the “I Disappear Top 5”, and tells us about seeing Metallica in the late 80’s. Touches on his favorite crew members during the 2018-19 tour. For the encore Sib throws down probably the best “Memory Remains” moment when he discovered the band. It might take the trophy. Congratulations, you just won the toaster! Season 2, Episode 19 in......3, 2, ONE
The man of many talents JOE SIB stops by the show to cover his career in the entertainment industry. Toni & Jenny head down to Southern California in this Episode of PATH for a conversation with Toni’s childhood friend and comedian Joe Sib. Their chat is not necessarily what you would expect from a comedian… it’s not all jokes and laughs, but a heartfelt back and forth filled with rich, detailed storytelling and a great message about using the time and space we have been given to do something different. Joe leads Toni and Jenny through some incredible stories about how he grew up and the people who shaped him, showing his sense of gratitude for who he is today. He talks about the importance of community and connection – something that we at PATH give a nod to in almost every episode. There are some rough audio spots throughout as recording challenges came up during the interview but a few small blips cannot overshadow the message Joe shares about what he has taken away from his time during Shelter In Place; what is and is not essential to him. We think it will make you question what is essential for you, in your own life too. Joe Sib is many things! He's a skateboarder, otherwise I wouldn't talk to him.. haha.. He is a comedian, and I've seen him at the Improv and a few other spots, he is a dad which makes for much of his comedy. He is a musician, and will talk about his band Wax, playing Lollapolooza etc..... and the moment he realized he should get in the business instead of being behind the mic etc......Joe signed bands like Flogging Molly to his record company, and we will talk a little bit about that and how much we both love Matt Hensley (who doesn't love Matt Hensley)...Joe Grew up in San Jose and the skatepark was his babysitter.. Skateboarding is one of the biggest influences in his life if not the biggest like most of us who will listen to this show. Joe is a positive soul and I am glad to call him a friend.. We talked for almost two hours and I had a great time, and hope to do a follow up with Joe, as he always has lots going on.

On this episode I chat with comedian and musician Joe Sib. We talk about how he got into punk rock through skateboarding and how it's lead to a number of other things in his life. Like starting and running a successful record label called, Side One Dummy to the rad bands he's been in, WAX and 22 Jacks. Also we talk about radio shows he's hosted like Complete Control Radio and how he's applied all his talents into entertainment. We discuss his latest passion and that's for comedy, he's been doing stand up comedy now for 10 years, and is constantly touring and performing. We talk about one of his recent biggest accomplishments, and thats opening up every night for Metallica on their last tour. Amazing! Joe is a perfect example to never limit yourself to doing just one thing in life, so listen now to his stories of how he lives a healthy PMA (positive mental attitude) lifestyle and his approach on continually accomplishing his dreams. Stay Rad.
No one ever really knows for sure where the course of their lives will take them, and punk rock icon-turned-stand up comedian Joe Sib is no different. Joe first fell in love with the harsh sounds and unconventional aesthetic of the punk scene while taking his first ride through a Northern California skate park at the dawn of the 1980's. From then on, he knew that no matter where life took him, that music and that world would define everything he wanted and beliefs for which he stood. Life would, in fact, take him in many strange directions, including being kicked out of the band Frontline, having his band Wax dropped from one major label only to be picked up by another, founding SideOneDummy Records, and performing stand up as an opener for Metallica's latest tour. No matter what, though, the caustic, grinding soundscapes like those of hardcore punk giants Hüsker Dü's 1985 album New Day Rising have always remained a constant in Joe's life, just as they have left an indelible mark on the many artists whose careers Joe has helped foster. Comedian Joe Sib joins the Mike Herrera Hour.
This is the episode where comedian, singer, record label founder, podcast host, Joe Sib, and I discuss evolving from a magician, to punk rocker, to father/husband, and to comedian. Also in the episode are stories of being a lead singer for the bands WAX and 22 Jacks with some of the biggest names in music today. I also attempt to start a band with Joe, which I think he may have gone for. Such a great dude with a passion for everything he does. I'm a fan for life and you will be too after listening.
In this episode I talk to Joe Sib about Side One/Dummy Records, his latest comedy record, making great music as a musician and a whole lot more. This week I welcome my buddy, founder of SideOneDummy Records and comedian Joe Sib.
Joe Sib wears a lot of hats, he's the former lead singer of the punk rock band WAX, he's the co-founder of the record label, SideOneDummy, and he's also been working on his stand-up comedy career for the last decade or so. Sib just released his debut album, "Nowhere Near The Top" on 800 LB Gorilla records and he sits down with Matt to talk about the trip to get to that first album, how his comedy has evolved, and he even tosses in a few good stories about a The Ramones, Bad Religion, and a semi-feud he had with the band Weezer, one that Weezer was unaware they were in. I'm very excited to welcome comedian Joe Sib to the show. I've been a fan of his work for a long time, in the sense that he is responsible for introducing me to a lot of my favorite music through his label SideOneDummy. In turn, I was quite surprised to find out that he is also an incredible stand-up comedian. We talk about youth, naivety, and how Joe incorporated his love of punk rock into a career both on-stage and off. And he explains how all of this led to him performing stand-up comedy all over the country and releasing his debut comedy album, Nowhere Near the Top.Nowhere Near the Top is available now! Comedian, musician, and all-around rad dad Joe Sib (Wax, SideOneDummy Records) stops by to talk about what highway numbers mean, the iconic video for Wax's "California", David Lee Roth's craziest non-music job, fatherhood, and much more.
Joe Sib is a comedian, storyteller, musician and co-owner of SideOneDummy Records. He and Dave talk about the fear of being exposed as a fraud in your craft, and about being dick. Joe says he used to be a dick sometimes, and he worked to not be a dick anymore. Dave doesn't think he's a dick, though. At the end, Dave revisits body dysmorphia, as discussed in the Julian McCullough episode.
This week, we get a visit from the co-founder of Side One Dummy Records and former Wax frontman, Joe Sib. It’s our second show with the head of a record label, but our first show with first-hand stories about Spike Jonze!
Kira sits down with comedian, musician, and dad, Joe Sib. He is a man who wears many hats. So many hats that he doesn't get much sleep—and that's just the way he likes it. Sib spent the 90s playing in punk rock bands with a relentless touring around the world, then moved behind the scenes as co-owner of Side One Dummy Records where he signed and released albums from bands such as Flogging Molly, The Gaslight Anthem, ANTI-FLAG, and many more. Ever the music enthusiast with a wealth of stories only a touring musician could boast, Sib began hosting the Complete Control radio show in 2004, which airs in seven cities across the country, including 98.7FM in Los Angeles. Instead of abating Sib's energy, the show simply added more fuel to the fire and spawned not only his one-man show–California Calling: A Story of Growing Up Punk Rock—but also an unexpected leap into standup comedy.
