A highlight of the event was the panel discussion, "Irish Cloud Ecosystem Firms and the AI Infrastructure of the Future", which examined Ireland's evolving role in global data centre infrastructure as AI investments surge worldwide. Barry Cowen MEP, said: "Ireland has established itself as a European leader in data centre development, combining our natural advantages, such as climate, with strong technical expertise. What's particularly encouraging to see is how this sector has created a ripple effect throughout the Irish economy, supporting thousands of jobs not just in construction and operations, but across a whole ecosystem of Irish suppliers and service providers. We're seeing local companies develop world-class capabilities and export their expertise globally." Enterprise Ireland's Jenny Melia provided perspective on the broader impact of data centre investment in Ireland over the years, stating: "Over a short space of time, the data centre sector has become a significant part of Ireland's economy. Using the skills that they have developed on Irish projects, many of these data centre firms have gone on to expand their business internationally." Neil Morris, Country Lead for AWS in Ireland, emphasised the importance of firms like ATC Logistics: "Irish companies have shown themselves to be innovative and willing to adapt, take risks, and grow as the industry changes. The data centre suppliers, which we recognise through the Horizon Award, have been pivotal in helping to establish Ireland as a world-leading location for cloud infrastructure." In Ireland, AWS employs over 4,200 employees directly, and around 6,500 people in total across Amazon and AWS. According to Indecon International Economic Consultants, there are also more than 3,000 working for AWS suppliers and sub-contractors. These numbers reflect real opportunities for professionals in Ireland's growing tech sector. AWS investment has enabled over 500 homegrown suppliers to expand and grow in Ireland and abroad. ATC Computer Transport & Logistics (ATC), a leading Irish company providing highly specialised transport, logistics, and technical services to hyperscale data centre operators, high-tech freight forwarders, and original equipment manufacturers worldwide, has today unveiled a landmark investment of €22.5 million over five years to support its companywide 'Driving Green Strategy' including the ongoing transition of its HGV fleet from traditional combustion engines to battery-electric power. Zero emission goal for transportation fleet The announcement, which is one of Ireland's most significant private investments in a zero tailpipe emission transportation fleet, positions the business as a global leader in the Green Logistics sector. It is also an important milestone in ATC's ambitious target of achieving net zero by 2030. As part of the announcement, ATC has recently taken delivery of five state-of-the-art battery-electric Volvo HGVs and two additional Volkswagen ID. Buzz's for their Irish cloud logistics and technical services operations, adding to their European fleet of 142 vehicles. Four further battery-electric Volvo HGVs have also been integrated into the European fleet. ATC availed of the Zero Emission Heavy Duty Vehicle (ZEHDV) Purchase Grant Scheme, funded by the Department of Transport and administered by Transport Infrastructure Ireland, to support the acquisition of battery-operated HVGs for the Irish-based fleet. The €500,000 grant is awarded to facilitate companies and enterprises who wish to purchase zero-emission HGVs. Headquartered in Dublin, ATC has a footprint across Ireland, Europe and New Zealand, with major offices in Amsterdam, Frankfurt, and London. Employing over 250 people from over 31 nationalities, the business plans to increase headcount to 300 by 2026, and add two further international offices. As pioneers in the cloud logistics and technical services industry, ATC has significantly strengthened its commitment to its 'Driving Green Strategy' this year to create a more sustainable business model for the future. The business has grown its 'Driving Green Strategy' to assist clients in reaching their own sustainable goals by reducing emissions across services and decarbonising the final mile of customers' supply chain. The 'Driving Green Strategy' is designed to help ATC clients gain visibility of their carbon emissions in their Scope 3 emissions for subcontracted transport and logistics services. Veteran Tyler Merren will lead the team, marking his fifth Paralympics since Athens 2004. The squad also includes second-time Paralympian Calahan Young and newcomers Tre'Shaun Faison, Christian King, and Zion Walker. Head coach Keith Young expressed excitement about the team's blend of experience and emerging talent. A while ago, we interviewed Mindy Zemrak, who works as the supervising casting producer from Shark Tank. During our conversation, we asked her what her most memorable moment from the show was. Without hesitation, she said that her most memorable moment was the pitch from the founders of Cup Board Pro that left everyone--Sharks included--in tears. Cup Board Pro was invented by firefighter and 9/11 first responder, Keith Young. He was named a two-time Food Network Chopped Champion, and he invented this product to simplify the cooking prep process which always takes longer than expected. Less time prepping means more time with your family. Before Keith could get serious traction with his new product, tragedy struck. Keith's wife, Beth, passed away at age 47 from breast cancer, and it understandably crushed the whole family. And then, a couple of years later, Keith passed away from 9/11-related cancer, orphaning his three young children. It was their dad's dream to get Cup Board Pro into homes worldwide, so to carry on his legacy, Kaley, Christian, and Keira all went on Shark Tank seeking an investment to carry on his legacy. By now, we're guessing you can see why their pitch had enough raw emotional power to leave the Sharks in tears and create one of the most memorable moments in Shark Tank history. Keith Young is an education coach, trainer, and writer. Keith was raised in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains of northern Alabama. After a short stint at seminary, he pivoted to teaching secondary students for the U.S. government in Germany. In his first years of teaching, he developed a knack for leading and training colleagues. Eventually, Keith shifted full-time to training teachers and leading school improvement efforts at the school district level. Later, he became a principal, leading school turnaround work and regularly increasing student outcomes by double digits in Colorado, Puerto Rico, and Arizona. Along the way, Keith picked up a multiplicity of advanced education degrees. Nowadays, Keith lives on the coast of South Carolina and trains and coaches administrators, school leadership teams, and teacher coaches. As a coach, he's known for “telling it like it is” and using a blended coaching model. He packed more wrestling success into five years than most athletes manage in a lifetime of competition. Keith Young spent the next three decades returning those rewards to the sport with full interest. His Algona High School team didn't offer wrestling until his senior year, and when he joined the University of Northern Iowa you'd hardly expect a youngster of such limited experience to fill the shoes of one of wrestling's all-time greats, Bill Koll. But fill them he did, winning six national championships in three seasons. Undefeated in collegiate competition, he was NCAA champion at 145 pounds in 1949, '50 and '51, leading the Panthers of coach Dave McCuskey to the team title during his junior year. Young's three collegiate crowns matched Koll's total as Northern Iowa reigned supreme in the welterweight division six years in a row. The same three years, Young was National AAU champ -outstanding wrestler in '50 -and each year the Panthers captured the AAU team trophy. Rather than pursue post-graduate competition, Young turned immediately to high school coaching. In three years at Blue Earth, Minn., he produced a state team champion. Then he returned to Iowa, coaching a year at Osage before taking the reins in 1955 at Cedar Falls. There he produced more than 200 dual meet victories, two state champion teams, two runners-up and a host of individual winners. Far more important, however, was his influence on the lives of young men, as a teaching example of integrity and dedication. He also served the sport of wrestling for many years as one of its most widely respected referees, officiating at the high school and collegiate levels all the way to the NCAA and NAIA championships. In recognition of his outstanding achievements as a champion wrestler, and his long years of service to the sport as a teacher and leader of young athletes, Keith Fay Young is honored as a Distinguished Member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
