On this edition of Parallax Views, Donald Trump recently opined, in a now infamous with Laura Ingraham for Fox News, that Democratic Party Presidential candidate Joe Biden was being controlled by "people in the dark shadows". This, of course, should come as no surprise given that conspiratorial mutterings about globalist elites hellbent on destroying the United States of America has become a hallmark of Trump's base. In fact, one can find ideations of a paranoid variety amongst rather visible elements of the American right-wing going back to the day of Senator Joe McCarthy and the Red Scare as well as in right-wing media outlets and organizations like WorldNetDaily and the John Birch Society. Even prior to Trump, figures like Alex Jones and Jerome Corsi promoted what historian Richard Hofstadter referred to as "The Paranoid Style in American Politics". In the 1990's, the militia and "Patriot" movement were driven by fears that the Clinton administration, specifically after Ruby Ridge and Waco, would usher in draconian martial law with the help of agencies like FEMA or, in some theories, the United Nations. Interestingly, then First Lady Hillary Clinton was roundly mocked at this time for offering a paranoid alternative to the right's vision of dystopia being ushered in by her husband. There existed, she said, a "vast right wing conspiracy" to undermine Bill Clinton's Presidency. This, of course, was roundly mocked as the delusional rantings of a "moonbat" or "wingnut". But was Clinton's accusation completely unfounded? Has the American right-wing been projecting when it lobs allegations of unpatriotic and sinister plots against Democrats and the Left? Veteran journalist Anne Nelson makes the case in her new book, Shadow Network: Media, Money, and the Secret Hub of the Radical Right, that the American Right, specifically through a sorely underdiscussed and shadowy organization, has been engaging in a certain kind of subterfuge that isn't far off from being a "vast right wing conspiracy". In this explosive new book Nelson, whose journalistic exploits includes covering the U.S. support of right-wing death squads in El Salvador during the Reagan Presidency, details the under-the-radar machinations of the Council for National Policy. Modeled as a conservative equivalent to the Council on Foreign Relations, a favorite target of right-wing paranoia, the CNP claims 501(c) 3 status. But, as Nelson notes, the CNP operates in a completely different way than the CFR. According to Nelson, it acts as a network that connects the right's ideologues to the money people that can fund their movements. What a Potpourri we have for you today. The Census bureau, Kansas, Wisconsin, Koch Bros., Louisiana, Fox, taxing churches and non-profits, indictments, medical errors, a Paul Ryan confession (but he still wants to come after our Social Security and Medicare), a math lesson, the deficit, and the Space Force. Whew!

What an election season. Congressional house seats flipping like pancakes at the annual firemen's breakfast. State legislatures flipping too. Musical chairs for governor seats. Check. Another Koch Bros. experiment in state government (Wisconsin) that has failed can now be fixed. Kansas was the first and they're elected democrats now. Maybe it'll take one more failure of a state for the Koch Bros. to realize their economic experiments don't work and they'll finally throw in the towel and "QUIT!" Sessions, Rosenstein, Whitaker, Clovis, and the el Presidente's exaggeration of numbers all come in for scrutiny.  Colorado election results plus other states. Funny how people want better roads and schools but don't want to pay for them. Listen to the reasons and you'll understand. This week, we talk the right wing think tank Koch funded study that proved that #MedicareForAll saves trillions, Rex Tillerson stopping Saudi Arabia from invading Qatar, and the #BanPlasticStraws movement.

Arizona teachers are the latest to walk off the job en masse to demand livable wages and full public school funding. More than 1,000 Arizona public schools were closed on Thursday as #RedforEd took to the streets and marched on the state Capitol. Arizona teachers were joined by their neighbors to the Northeast as Colorado teachers also walked off the job for better pay and full funding of public schools. A new report, “Advancing White Supremacy Through Academic Strategy,” exposes massive campaign funded by the Koch Brothers and other right-wing billionaires to push alt-right agenda on college campuses. The Intercept published secretly taped audio of House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer trying to pressure a progressive candidate to get out of the race for Colorado’s 6th legislative district. DCCC had already picked a corporate lawyer and Army vet, Jason Crow, to back in the race. Republicans in Congress are now pursuing a technical strategy to dramatically roll back regulations. They want to use the 1996 Congressional Review Act to “defund the administrative state.” Things still crazy in Trumplandia. Trump loses it on Fox and Friends; Michael Cohen has a burner phone collection; Dr. Ronny “The Candy Man” Jackson will not be the next VA Secretary; and, Scott Pruitt gets grilled on his improprieties. And, let’s not forget that the week started out with yet another white, male “sovereign citizen” killing four people in a Waffle House in Tennessee with an AR-15. Meek Mill released from prison after spending five months in prison. Pennsylvania has the worst parole system in the country. Pennsylvania GOP sees staffers leave en masse and only have $16,000 in the bank for payroll. Right-wing PA Republicans got what they paid for Wednesday as their RAND Corporation commissioned study recommends dramatic changes for PASSHE universities. The one thing the study did not consider was properly funding PASSHE schools. Currently, PA ranks 47th out of 50 states in per-capita funding for public higher education. Kutztown University votes to implement new “Campus Support Fee” on students in the amount of $488 beginning next academic year. The second part of Raging Chicken’s exclusive interviews concerning the Colleen Bradley whistleblower case is released. Kevin Mahoney interviews Bradley’s legal team, Daniel Kearney and Ed Mazurek, about the Constitutional implications of her case. And in today’s last call, Sean has a weekend off for the first time in a long time. He contemplates buying a new camera lens. Funny memes of Rachel are now circulating. A principal gave a graduation speech in support of the school cheerleaders that caught hell for dressing up as “Mexican gangsters.” He admired them for their strength and courage.

The Koch Bros and Sheldon Adelson are teaming up for campaign season to collectively rig the election in their favor. Cenk outlines the Koch Brothers' favorite candidates as well as Adelson's. A heavily armed gunman with an armored vehicle started a shootout with Dallas Police at the police station on Saturday. He was a Conservative that felt the PD was too Liberal, and blamed them for his losing custody of his son. CNN's Fredricka Whitfield called the shooter courageous and brave while talking about his plan to take on the entire police force. Video of her comments and eventual apology after she caught hell. Cenk is annoyed by the level of Political Correctness coming from Conservatives over this. Gun advocacy groups are up in arms over proposed legislation to force potential gun buyers to have a license and be at least 21 years old. Meanwhile, an Iowa mall cop whose online presence was full of open carry gun toting memes and 2nd Amendment talk, has been arrested for shooting and killing a 20 year old woman that worked at the mall. After she reported him for sexual harassment, he was fired, and he returned to get revenge on her.Hour 2: Ana joins Cenk for SCS. Despite the drought California is experiencing, some rich residents are complaining about water limits that they feel should exempt them. Ana quotes a Conservative talk show host that gave the WashPost an unbelievably elitist quote. Seth MacFarlane responded to criticism over Family Guy's past jokes about Caitlyn Jenner's transgender identity. Keith Ablow gave his 2 cents on “transracial” Rachel Dolezar by connecting it to Caitlyn Jenner and his desire to claim he's a senior citizen eligible for Medicare. A man facing a paternity test for a newborn baby sent a lookalike to take the test so he could be off the hook for child support, but was busted. Ana gives her theory on dating a good looking guy and how many women throw themselves at him.
