Michaela thought this was just going to be another episode...another walk in the freakin park...but nope! Roman had other plans! This ain't your grandma's Surprise Mechanics! She thought she could get away with just talking about Like a Dragon: Ishin! and Roman would be normal about it. Maybe he would talk about Helldivers or some bullshit comic book he read, but nope! He had to go SICKO MODE and do something TWISTED. Matthew Rao makes a surprise appearance and from there...well let's just say it gets preeeetttyyyy interesting, okay? That's right: they go all in on The Walking Dead. I'm talking Rick, I'm talking Michonne, and zombies? Uhhhh yeah, we're talking about those too! Is anybody out there? Does anybody care? wth is a Def Leppard anyway?
It's hard to go a few months without a remaster of a beloved RPG gracing our physical or virtual shelves, but when some of those are the quality of the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series or the recent Persona 3 Reload, we aren't complaining. This age of remasters also means updated or rearranged music is part of the package, so today we're showcasing some stellar new takes on music for eight RPG remasters released in recent years.Featuring: Michael Sollosi, Audra Bowling, Gio Castillo, Lucas Greene; Edited by Mike SalbatoTracklistBlock 1 - Final Fantasy Anthology0:06:02 - Battle on the Big Bridge (Nobuo Uematsu) - Final Fantasy V Pixel Remaster0:08:32 - Aria di Mezzo Carattere {English Language Version} (Nobuo Uematsu) - Final Fantasy VI Pixel RemasterBlock 2 - Yoko! Welcome to Shack Together! In this episode, host Asif Khan is joined by cohost John Benyamine, myself Joe Stasio, and Senior News Editor TJ Denzer. We discuss what games they have been playing recently, including Balatro, F-Zero 99, Like A Dragon: Ishin, and FFVII Rebirth. In our first ever installment of Backclogged, the crew uncovers their most backlogged games, naming their top 3 games of all time that we've perennially delayed jumping into. From Disco Elysium to Dragon Quest XI, the list is chock full of embarrassingly shameful titles. In Story Time, the latest news from the gaming world is discussed, including Rise of the Ronin, a new Super Mario Bros. movie, and the return of Halo 2 online matchmaking. All this and more on today's show!

For longtime fans of the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series, Like a Dragon: Ishin! is a fun "familiar faces in new places" ride, almost like seeing your favorite characters putting on a play. Your favorite faces and voices take on the roles of historical figures in 1860s Japan, as rival forces compete for the rule of Japan and reshape society as we know it. Dave is joined by Matt aka Stormageddon for another Producer's Choice episode, focusing on why we love the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series. Ryu Ga Gotoku's long-running crime melodrama series has introduced us to some of our favorite protagonists, side characters and level 100 weirdos through the years, so we wanted to take some time and talk about it. You can find all of Matt's wonderful podcasts ("Fun" and Games, Reignite, Screen Snark) on your favorite podcast app or at their website (https://linktr.ee/dj_stormagedddon). More brutal murders than John Wick and more mistaken identities than Twelfth Night. Ryu Ga Gotoku: Ishin! plays fast and loose with the events of Bakumatsu Japan, with multiple historical figures assuming second personas, a legendary alliance forged through a drunken brawl instead of careful diplomacy, and much more than can be contained in a mere podcast description. Kamurocho has nothing on the mean streets of 1860s Kyo. Ryu Ga Gotoku: Ishin! was probably a lost cause to most fans of the Like A Dragon / Yakuza series, but Sega shocked everyone last year with the announcement of a full remake of the 2014 historical fiction samurai drama to arrive in February of 2023. RPGFan had at least four panelists eager to play it, so they gathered here to form their own Shinsengumi to discuss the swordplay, writing, performances, and historical context of the Ishin! remake. Sure, everyone knows Doug Bowser and Bill Trinen but there are so many people behind the scenes doing some great and even historically important things that you may have never heard of. By the time you're listening to this episode we would have returned from Super Nintendo World! We share/try to manifest what our perfect day would be at the park so look forward to some vlogs where we share our experience with you. THIS WEEK: It's PlayStation's turn to give us the good with their latest STATE of PLAY, but did they? We FINALLY get an apology from one of the developers of MARVEL AVENGERS. Meanwhile gamers are upset as ROCKSTEADY may be making similar mistakes with their upcoming DC game SUICIDE SQUAD: KILL THE JUSTICE LEAGUE. STREET FIGHTER 6 continues the hype with their latest roster entries and a new comic book series coming soon. Then in our FINAL STAGE I played LIKE A DRAGON: ISHIN for the PS5. A couple of interesting alternate universes this week, reviewed by the three sexiest men alive in an alternate universe where the judging for such competitions was fair. We talk early impressions of Atomic Heart and Like A Dragon: Ishin!, Microsoft making an honest competing video game company out of Nintendo with a 10-year commitment, and a fair bit more. Plus we review a few pieces of equipment provided to us by Elgato, including the Wave DX microphone, Wave XLR audio interface and a couple of different mic arms. If you're obsessed with Delorians, The Mummy and Pizza you can discuss that stuff with him directly over on Twitter: @JakeBaldino- Lucy James is a Senior Producer at Gamespot and a Creative Producer at Giant Bomb. She's actually, like, experienced and credentialed and has real life skills and stuff, while the rest of the gang would be funemployed if the YT algorithm didn't kiss them for random, inexplicable reasons. - Jirard (aka The Completionist: https://www.youtube.com/c/ThatOneVide...) has been doing YouTube since before Noah wore short pants. Over the course of more than a decade, Jirard has completed HUNDREDS of games to bring you the quality of review that almost no other reviewer dare bring you, getting the 100% completion trophy for every title before putting pen to paper. Jirard has a let's play channel and in his spare time he fires off the occasional hot-take over on Twitter: @TheCompletionist- Skill Up used to work at McDonalds but he got fired for skimming too many chicken nuggets. Mark is joined by Jada Griffin, Brian Altano and John Davison as they discuss a much juicier than anticipated September Sony State of Play. There were plenty of surprises in Tekken 8, God of War: Ragnarok and a Star Wars PSVR 2 game in Tales From the Galaxies Edge Enhanced Edition, plus plenty of new reveals that piqued our interest in Pacific Drive, Syn Duality and Like a Dragon. All of that and we take a closer look at the flood of Assassin's Creed games that were revealed during the weekend's Ubisoft Forward. Beyond!
