It's been two years since police arrested the alleged Gilgo Beach serial killer. The National Guard will stay in the New York City subway system, at least for now. Plus, the latest from WSHU's Long Story Short.

Perhaps nothing unites more baseball fans than the shared experience of playing Little League Baseball. But, until 1974, only boys were allowed to play. After that, it took until 1984, 41 years ago this week, before the first girl played in Little League's crowning jewel, The Little League World Series. On this auspicious anniversary, Mike and Bill look back at the origins and history of Little League Baseball, and of the Little League World Series itself. And, aside from a few significant bumps in the road, they find what's mostly a pretty feel-good story for once. Plus, happy birthday to Buck Weaver and Diego Segui! And farewell to Diego Segui, Bob Heffner, and Matt Murray.

Aries Spears criticized Ice Cube's artistry, stating he was not a fan of him as a rapper or actor. Ice Cube responded by calling Spears a "sucka". Spears defended his right to an opinion. Shannon Sharpe was let go by ESPN in July 2025, weeks after settling a high-profile lawsuit involving sexual assault allegations. ESPN did not state an official reason for his departure. Gillie and Cam traded insults, seemingly over comments about Jalen Hurts' performance. Nicki Minaj and Dez Bryant had a social media exchange that included Minaj offering Bryant $10 million to fight her husband. Both parties later apologized. Malcolm Jamal Warner died on July 21, 2025, at the age of 54, due to accidental drowning in Costa Rica. He was swept away by a strong rip current while swimming with a friend. Hulk Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, died at age 71 on July 24, 2025. His cause of death was acute myocardial infarction, or a heart attack. He also had a history of atrial fibrillation and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). Gilbert Arenas was arrested on July 30, 2025, and federally indicted for allegedly operating a high-stakes illegal poker ring from his mansion.
