Fear loves to run its mouth. It shouts worst-case scenarios, whispers doubts, and reminds you of every past failure. But here's the deal—fear gets a voice, not a vote. In this episode, we're talking about how to manage the soundtracks fear plays in your head and how to make sure it doesn't get a say in your decisions. In this episode we talk about how the things in our lives that we don't like can show us where we are resistant and attached, and can trigger new ways to transcend and learn from those daily occurrences. • Includes a guided meditation that shows us how we can hold two opposites in our minds together, for instance, pain and ease, anxiety and peace, as a way of healing resistance. It had been a long time since I'd seen a play, so I was kind of excited when the lights went down. When they came up, one of the three women on stage said, “Where should we begin?” and my head just sank into my hand in disappointment. I instantly knew the play I was going to spend the next couple of hours with, would not be great. Well, it's official: Donald Trump will be the 47th president of the United States. So… now what? For those in and out of the States, the news comes as a bit of a shock. Despite the presidential race being a tight one, particularly over the past few weeks, there were those who held out hope that Kamala Harris and her “new way forward” was going to win out. But no. Instead, the convicted felon with a history of sexual abuse toward women won. This week on rabble radio, rabble editor Nick Seebruch joins parliamentary reporter Karl Nerenberg by phone from France to discuss what Trump's win means for America, Canada and beyond. Karl Nerenberg is an award-winning journalist, broadcaster and filmmaker, working in both English and French languages. He is rabble's senior parliamentary reporter.
Can 'degrowth' solve our economic, social, and ecological problems? Economist Timothée Parrique thinks so. On this episode of the Mongabay Newscast, he joins co-host Rachel Donald to interrogate this 20+ year-old concept that critiques the notion of limitless growth in a finite world, and which offers tangible gains for people and planet. The current economic model stretches the ecological limits of the planet – the Planetary Boundaries. Parrique says degrowth is a pathway for rich countries to scale back production and consumption – much of which contributes nothing to human well-being, research indicates – making room for low and middle-income nations to raise their standards of living, while allowing natural systems to continue supporting the ecosystem services humanity needs, like clean air and water. Who am I creating art for and why? Who do you think about when you think about selling or sharing your work? Are they individuals or a faceless crowd?Yes, I venturing into a conversation that revolves around selling but even if you don't sell, considering the value of your work, even if it's just to show to online viewers or give to family and friends, can really help increase the joy you get out your creative process and your artistic life. I think you'll also be surprised at some of the faulty ways we look at the process of selling, our perception of money, and how we as artist value, or don't value, the work we create.Join me in my cozy corner for a different kind of conversation about the role of sales and sharing in your creative process and artistic life. Fokus. This week we're talking about recording; our experiences, our first recordings, our favourites and our recommendations!
In this month's episode, we're continuing our Winter Activism series with an interview with Dr. Jacquelyn Gill! Not only is she an Associate Professor of Climate Science and a paleoecologist, but she's someone cool enough to have her own Wikipedia page. What does the environment have to do with feminism? Is this the same as ecofeminism? Can we still do something about climate change? Listen as we tackle these questions and more! Image credit: Markus Spiske via Unsplash

After almost two years of podcasting, we've finally reached the summit of 100 episodes! We've spent a lot of time wondering how we should celebrate such a massive milestone, and the only logical conclusion is to take a BFF quiz from Teen Vogue. Yes listeners, we're going to share our deepest darkest secrets with you, and should we fail to answer, well the punishment will be a shot of something truly awful. What have been our most embarrassing moments, do we believe in ghosts, and what were our worst dates? All will be answered as we delve into the darkness of our own psyches, and share all the lurid details that we can remember. Before there was Rosa Parks, there was Ida B. Wells. Before there was Esther, there was Vashti. And after all of them was Brenda Salter McNeil. Those who say “No!” stand on the shoulders of many others who also had the courage to resist before them, making the powers tremble. We too have the opportunity to say “No” to oppression and exploitation. Do not fear being reduced to a naysayer, for our “No” ultimately allows for a “Yes”; a YES to the liberating, loving, and just Way of Jesus.Sermon begins at minute 8:25.Esther 1.1-22ResourcesBibleWorm podcast, Episode 152: Resisting Ethnic Nationalism, Amy Robertson and Robert Williamson, Jr., August 3, 2020.The Forgotten Books of the Bible: Recovering the Five Scrolls for Today, Robert Williamson, Jr., 2018Rabbi Zalman Schacter-Shalomi at Purim, reading Esther - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-p05qJWlTk. Large podcast conferences are at a crossroads, with the podcasting community wondering how next year's conferences and beyond will be reshaped by the winds of change. Here are three possible futures. #podcasting https://podcastpontifications.com/episode/podcast-conferences-cancel-culture-human-dignity Photo by https://www.pexels.com/photo/climate-sign-outside-blur-2990644/ (Markus Spiske from Pexels) But before you say, "Ugh, not another hot take about the kerfuffle at Podcast Movement 2022"—rest assured, I'm not adding another hot take on what happened. Instead, I want to present three possible futures I believe are likely to play out for future podcast conferences—not just Podcast Movement. One quick caveat: There's no way in hell I'm going to "both sides" this issue. I've zero patience for deplorable people. And if you're already bristling at my use of that word, you have been warned. 1. The Free-Dumb Future For Podcast Conferences If the free-speech-at-all-cost torchbearers are not curtailed, expect protests. Activist attendees with clever slogans on t-shirts. Panelists and presenters naming names. Disruptions from the audience toward panelists or presenters who seek to undermine democracy. 2. The Status Quo Future For Podcast Conferences Equally likely is a future where...nothing happens. I believe many event organizers and attendees are counting on this future. This keeps marginalized voices away, and conferences cater to the bigger, more monied side of podcasting. 3. The Responsibility-First Future Of Podcast Conferences Or perhaps podcast organizers do make a stand and carefully vet every speaker, sponsor, and possibly even attendee. Or more conferences like https://www.shepodcasts.com/she-podcasts-live-2022/ (She Podcasts Live) and https://www.blkpodfestival.com/ (BLK Podcast Festival) come into existence. Will those conferences create echo chambers? They can, sure. Do they restrict "different opinions" from being presented and limit the inclusivity they claim to uphold? Oh, FFS. Give me a break. Anyone saying that is either being disingenuous or still has no idea what an asshole they sound like to the rest of us. If they want, they can—and probably will—form their own conference where they can collectively pine for a return to the world of segregation, don't ask don't tell, and a time when less than half the population had the right to vote. Fuck 'em. ----- Sponsored by: https://evoterra.link/captivate (Captivate.fm, the world's only growth-oriented podcast hosting company) ----- Links ----- https://2022.podcastmovement.com/ (Podcast Movement 2022) https://www.shepodcasts.com/she-podcasts-live-2022/ (She Podcasts Live) https://www.blkpodfestival.com/ (BLK Podcast Festival) Mentioned (and then the standard links and credits will follow: Got a podcasting service? https://podcastpontifications.com/about/sponsorship-information (Become a sponsor of Podcast Pontifications).

Let’s put Microlearning in focus for Customer Education (Photo by Markus Spiske on Unsplash) In this “mini” episode, we focus on microlearning and share some things we learned from one of the industry experts on the subject. At DevLearn 2019, we had the great opportunity to talk with Carla Torgerson, the Director of Instructional Design at Bull City Learning immediately following her “Create Effective Microlearning” course. We covered our experiences at DevLearn in Episode 28. What does microlearning entail? How can a Customer Education team benefit from using it in their Education Strategy? A hint? A micro format “with particular, targeted focus on something a customer wants to do“, maps well with our mission in Customer Education to help get customers up-to-speed quickly, and helps to increase adoption / avoid churn of our products. Customers get to choose if or when they’re going to consume your content. This “micropodcast” will give you some other tools to think about adding to your toolkit.

With all the hype and buzz around machine cognition and artificial intelligence (AI), it's hard for business leaders to decide how to adopt AI, let alone plan to embrace it through technological and cultural change within the business. In this episode of The Data Binge Podcast, Tony Abell, Data Solutions Architect for Microsoft, joins us to answer the tough questions around AI and what businesses should really be looking for as they prepare their digital strategies for a new era of technology. Some enlightening moments in the conversation:-AI adoption isn't happening at rates as alarming as executives and shareholders think - most businesses aren't ready…find out why from Tony-skills, hardware, and software are not the biggest limitations with adopting an AI driven business - its the company culture-grass roots change usually never works in technology adoption, there needs to a connection in interests from both the doers at the bottom who are getting things done, and the decision makers at the top-business leaders should look more into how they incentivize around performance and change, versus doing what has always been done to surpass challengesYou can contact or follow Tony Abell at Twitter or LinkedIn Resources:Gartner Hype Cycle for emerging technologies: https://www.gartner.com/smarterwithgartner/top-trends-in-the-gartner-hype-cycle-for-emerging-technologies-2017/MIT Sloan, BCG survey: https://www.bcg.com/publications/2017/strategy-technology-digital-is-your-business-ready-artificial-intelligence.aspxPlease feel free to follow me on LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, Medium, or at my website: www.derekwesleyrussell.comThank you so much for listening!
