Your Daily Astrology and Horoscope Forecast with Kelli Fox

OVERVIEW   Your identity is at the very core of astrological events in 2021, Taurus. A rare Saturn-Uranus square is set to become exact three times during the year, in February, June and December, and on each occasion, it underlines the tension between who you truly are versus your public image, your status or your career.   The second week in January is when the tension begins to build in astrology, as Mercury conjuncts Saturn and Jupiter in your career zone, creating harsh aspects to Mars in your own sign, in your identity zone. When Mars conjuncts rebel planet Uranus later on January 20th, you may feel an intense desire to switch careers, or to abandon your public image in some other way – but once Mercury turns retrograde in this area on January 30th, it will be difficult for you to think straight. The first of the Saturn-Uranus squares becomes exact in mid-February, and this initial seven weeks or so of the year could feel very pressurized indeed.   March and April bring a boost to your income, Taurus supported by the arrival of Mars in your money zone, from where it trines Saturn in late March, and then Jupiter in April. These aspects should help to bring good news and potential around money and career matters. However, in late April Venus in your own zodiac sign squares up to Saturn in your status or career zone, suggesting that earning more money in and of itself is not the answer to your root unease.   In May, bountiful Jupiter moves from Aquarius and your status zone into Pisces and your community zone, urging you to aid society rather than simply look after your own interests. A late May Lunar Eclipse in your purpose zone points to an event which will underline this feeling too, as will the Mercury retrograde period in your money zone at the end of May. June 10th sees a Solar Eclipse in your money zone, putting an end once and for all to any latent materialistic feelings – just ahead of the second exact Saturn-Uranus square. Once again, Taurus, you will feel a need to change direction in order to have your working life better gel with who you truly are.   July and August give you some breathing space in astrology to work out what you want to do. Venus’ arrival in your love zone in September ensures support from your loved ones, and Mercury turning retrograde in Libra, your everyday work zone, in late September helps you to think outside the box on this front. In mid-October, Jupiter, having retrograded back into your career zone, turns direct once more, and clarity can be expected. It’s a Lunar Eclipse in late November in your own zodiac sign which will likely make up your mind on a future career direction. You’ll feel motivated to put the wheels in motion in late December, when the third Saturn-Uranus square takes effect; this is swiftly followed by the arrival of Jupiter into Pisces and your community zone for the second time this year – a more community-focused career seems a likely option, and one which will resolve your yearly career versus identity dilemma.     LOVE AND RELATIONSHIPS   Early in 2021, Taurus, your love life comes under pressure simply due to the angst and unease you are feeling in the rest of your life. The Venus-Pluto conjunction in late January, for example, highlights how your career dilemma is having a somewhat negative impact on your home life and your relationships too, as tensions rise in your yearly love horoscope.   It’s not all doom and gloom, however – Venus’ conjunction to warm-hearted Jupiter in early February provides a loving base from which you can wrestle with the challenges of the first Saturn-Uranus square in mid-February. If you are in an established relationship, this period will be testing, but highly likely to survive. Make time for your sweetheart away from the intensity of working life. Mid-March, when Venus conjuncts romantic Neptune, would be a great time for nurturing your bond, perhaps by sharing charity work or community interests together for some upliftment.   The expected upturn in your business or financial interests in March and April will also help to calm and stabilize an existing relationship, with the Venus-Uranus conjunction in late April in your own sign being a particularly lovely time for a romantic occasion or special event. If you’re single, this is also a hopeful period for meeting someone new. If you are looking for love, Taurus, watch out too for a potentially dramatic attraction in the workplace, especially in early May when Venus trines Pluto.   In June, as you grapple with changing your life direction under the guidance of the Saturn-Uranus square, some gentle and inspirational aspects from Venus to Jupiter, early in the month, and then Neptune later, suggest that friends and acquaintances will be supportive and encouraging. If you are single, this could also be a moment when a friendship becomes something more.   Watch out for a lack of family time in July, Taurus, when Venus in your family zone has some tough aspects to Saturn and Uranus in your career and identity zones respectively. Mid-July, when Venus conjuncts Mars in your family zone, could be either a point of intense attraction and passion, or a point of intense anger – your choice. By the time Venus arrives in your love zone in September, your family should be fully on board with what are starting to emerge as your new career plans, although again, be careful to prioritize family and relationship time so it doesn’t get lost in the mix.   November’s Lunar Eclipse in your own zodiac sign, Taurus, and the following Solar Eclipse in your psychology zone are tied up with issues of your identity, but you will be well on the way to resolving those at this time. Venus turns retrograde in your travel zone in late December, however, so you may want to avoid travel for romantic purposes during that period. Venus is set to turn direct again on January 1st 2022, so hold off until then for a romantic break.     MONEY AND CAREER   As already explained, your career is likely to be a central issue for you in 2021, given how tied up it is with your sense of identity and purpose. Your dissatisfaction with your current situation becomes clear in early-mid January, when Mercury, Jupiter and Saturn bump along together creating square aspects from your career zone to volatile Mars and Uranus in your own sign.   However, it’s with the first of the year’s three Saturn-Uranus squares in mid-February that the tension really becomes clear. Your initial reaction to growing disenchantment with your career may well be to simply try to earn more money. A series of supportive aspects in March and April may well enable you to do so, either through career promotion or perhaps through a lucrative side venture – but it’s not enough to ease your discomfort, as becomes clear in mid-May, when Jupiter leaves your career zone and instead turns your attention to what you’re contributing to society.   Expect the Lunar Eclipse in late May, which occurs in your personal growth zone, to jolt you into an awareness of what matters more than money and status. The quickly following Solar Eclipse in your money zone in early June will underline this too, ahead of the second Saturn-Uranus square. It’s at this point that you may start to feel seriously drawn towards a career which more closely embodies your personal values and identity.   Try to avoid taking financial risks in late July. A difficult opposition between luxury-loving Venus and retrograde Jupiter highlights a reckless urge to spend, as does the opposition of impulsive Mars to retrograde Jupiter the following week. During August, keep your family and loved ones in the loop regarding your potential career plans. As the Sun opposes retrograde Jupiter in late August, there are warnings that keeping too much to yourself could leave loved ones feeling hurt or out in the cold; it’s their lives too, remember.   During late September, you may be able to adjust your working patterns or schedules in such a way that brings you greater freedom, particularly when then Sun trines Saturn near the end of the month, helping you to free up space through better time management. An inspirational Mars-Jupiter trine in late October also brings ideas on this front and may help you to start to see possibilities where previously you’d only seen obstacles.   Look to the Lunar Eclipse in Taurus in mid-November to help you finally make a career decision. A slightly tricky Mars-Jupiter square in early December highlights the importance of having your family on board too, but by the time the third Saturn-Uranus square plays out in late December, your mind will be made up and you will have an action plan in place. With bountiful Jupiter settling back into your community zone in December, a future in a caring, community or socially responsible career role seems like it would fit the bill very well indeed.

Mid-March of this year was a uniquely devastating time for theater and the arts industry as a whole. Broadway and Off-Broadway here in New York as well as theaters all around the country began to close for what they thought would be a possible one-month shut down.  At the time playwright Lynn Nottage tweeted: “Emotionally and financially preparing for theaters across the country to be shut down. Mourning the beautiful work that will be lost. Alas, protecting our practitioners and our audiences is essential.” But as you and I know, it’s lasted much longer than anyone anticipated. And while the loss of jobs and the lack of theater options for audiences were immediately felt, there has been a further impact in communities and states around the country. From regional and local theaters to touring companies, stage work has a financial impact beyond just the box office.  For example, the 2016-17 touring season in cities like Charlotte, NC generated more than $38.2 million in economic impact. In Tempe, AZ their Broadway Season brought in $100 million. And more recently, in Denver the seven-week pre-Broadway run of frozen added about $30 million to the local economy. Theater and the arts are a driving economic indicator in cities and regions around the country, which is why it is vital that we save this industry and do what we can to become an arts hero. Be An Arts Hero is an intersectional grassroots movement emphasizes arts and cultures $877 billion value added contribution to the nation's economy, highlighting the human and financial toll of letting the contribution collapse. Carson Elrod and Brooke Ishibashi, two of the organization's founders, join the podcast today to share their goal of keeping all 5.1 million Americans who work in the arts 1) alive 2) in their homes and 3) with jobs to return to when the crisis subsides. Running solo, Eric D. (@HopSnobbery) launches the first episode of the Riff On podcast in over a year and a half as he looks back at the last 120 or so days of the COVID quarantine and his 100 days of being on the ketogenic (keto) diet. Mid-March, the schools shut down, cities and states shut down and businesses shut down. Unemployed since mid-March, Eric decided to take advantage of the controlled environment he would be in to try out the low carbohydrate diet of keto. Eric was familiar with the keto diet from acquaintances in the past, but also because of the YouTube videos of Thomas DeLauer, who himself lost 100 pounds due to the diet. Check out Thomas at www.thomasdelauer.com Not knowing the extent of the quarantine, Eric D. was reinforced by the instant gratification aspect of keto, which can have a fast weight loss up front, which included 10 lbs in the first week. Fed by grass-fed beef, green vegetables and black coffee, the first 30 days of keto went well with much success. Starting with only 20 minutes of Fitbit recognized activity a day, every single day, Eric focused on walking as fast as possible and trying to get 8,000 steps (four miles) in. After wasting time sleeping in the first month of COVID, about 45 days in, things started to click. On May 27, he started using #8000by8 on Twitter with the goal of getting 8,000 steps in by 8:59. A 100 days with barely any cheat days, except for a maple creemee https://www.vermont.org/experience/what-is-a-creemee I'm down just about 50 pounds and doing great. This could be the last episode of the Riff On Podcast, but, no fears! May 27, 2020: Protests Erupt After George Floyd Killing

AM Quickie

Welcome to Majority.FM's AM QUICKIE! Brought to you by justcoffee.coop TODAY'S HEADLINES: Minneapolis police killed George Floyd, an unarmed black man, in a horrific incident captured on video Monday night, which shows an officer kneeling on Floyd’s neck as he struggles to breathe. Widespread protests broke out across the Twin Cities on Tuesday night, which law enforcement responded to with more violence, firing tear gas and rubber bullets into the crowd. Meanwhile, Amazon’s high-powered PR unit sent around a pre-prepared script and news package to local stations across the country -- and at least 11 of them fell for it, airing the uncritical segment just as the company wanted it. And lastly, President Trump launches into the conspiracy theory that MSNBC Host Joe Scarborogh killed a staff member while he was a Congressman, and Twitter made the weakest possible response, despite the pleas of the staffer’s surviving husband. THESE ARE THE STORIES YOU NEED TO KNOW: The Twin Cities area of Minnesota erupted on Tuesday night following the tragic killing of an unarmed black man by police the previous day. On Monday night, Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin killed George Floyd after kneeling on his neck for several minutes, all of which were captured on video by a bystander. According to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, Chauvin had previously been involved in multiple shootings over his 19-year career, wounding a suspect in one. Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey said on Tuesday afternoon that Chauvin and other three officers who were on scene for Floyd’s death had been fired. But that action didn’t stop massive protests breaking out across the Twin Cities area, as thousands took to the streets to call for justice. The cops, however, reacted about how you’d expect: meeting protestors with force, firing rubber bullets, marking rounds and tear gas into crowds that battled them for hours in the rain. Floyd’s death was one of the most brutal captured on tape. In the video, Chauvin kneels directly on Floyd’s neck for an extended period of time while Floyd and several onlookers plead for Chauvin to release the pressure. Floyd eventually passes out, after saying quote “I can’t breathe, they’re going to kill me.” endquote. He was pronounced dead in the hospital. Mayor Frey said he had originally been stopped on suspicion of forgery. That’s all it took for the police to murder him in broad daylight. Local News Parrots Amazon PR Amazon’s PR machine has kicked into overdrive during the coronavirus crisis, in large part due to the fact that it has fired organizers within its ranks left and right while neglecting its already oppressed workforce. While diligent reporting by Vice News, the New York Times and others has held Amazon’s feet to the fire, other outlets… aren’t doing so great. On Sunday, Amazon sent around a prepared news segment specifically crafted to show the company in the best possible light. Most reporters, like Zach Rael at Oklahoma City’s ABC affiliate KOCO, who first publicized the pitch on Twitter, brushed it off. Rael, for example, instead asked Amazon to let journalists into the facility to do a story for themselves. But reporting by Courier Newsroom found that at least 11 stations around the country fell for the obvious PR job and ran the story exactly as Amazon scripted it, with anchors repeating the spokesperson-provided lines verbatim. The story is a troubling reminder of what our media could look like if corporations are allowed to completely control the conversation. There’s already a shortage of critical reporting in the country, and even the best-funded outlets often fall in line with what’s comfortable for the various powers that be. It’s just usually not this obvious. Twitter Delivers Weak Rebuke of Trump A strange, chaotic news day wouldn’t be complete without the president spreading conspiracies and lies online -- and it looks like Twitter, his platform of choice, isn’t willing to do much to stop him. On Tuesday, Trump again tweeted several references to the 2001 death of Lori Klausutis, a congressional staffer for then-Representative Joe Scarborough. Trump and Scarborough have been feuding over the usual petty cable news crap for months, and recently the president has decided to bring up the popular conspiracy that Scarborough was involved in Klausutis’s death. In a letter published in the New York Times, Klausutis’s husband plead for Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey to delete Trump’s tweets about the conspiracy. In response, a company spokesperson mustered up a pitiful response, expressing some token sympathy and saying QUOTE: “We’ve been working to expand existing product features and policies so we can more effectively address things like this going forward.” That means effectively nothing, obviously, but the company did take one concrete step. Late into Tuesday afternoon, it attached two advisory tags to Trump’s tweets -- not the ones about Kausutis, but instead Trump’s lies about vote by mail. The tags merely redirect users to Twitter’s news page for vote-by-mail stories and urge them to “get the facts.” Great job everyone, they fixed it. AND NOW FOR SOME QUICKER QUICKIES: The white woman who attempted to call police on a black man birdwatching in Central Park has been fired from her job at the investment bank Franklin Templeton. The woman, Amy Cooper, implied that she would use the police to inflict violence on the birdwatcher, repeatedly mentioning to the operator that he was “African American.” The altercation started after the man asked her to leash her dog. Four Uber and Lyft drivers in New York filed suit with the New York Taxi Workers Alliance against Gov. Andrew Cuomo, arguing that the state had failed to provide drivers with unemployment benefits. A 2018 decision ruled app-based drivers should be classified as employees and eligible for unemployment, but the drivers say the state is failing to process their claims quick enough to help them pay the bills. Congress’s pandemic EBT program, an emergency relief measure intended lessen child hunger during the pandemic, is way behind schedule and application, according to the New York Times. Congress approved the act in Mid March -- in Mid May, the Times reports only 15 percent of the kids it was supposed to feed are getting what they need. And finally, the Trump Justice Department is closing insider trading investigations into three U.S. senators previously caught trading stock they may have had advance tips on due to their position on Congressional committees. The only one still under investigation is GOP Senator Richard Burr, the former head of the Senate Intelligence Committee -- but the other three appear to be getting off scott free. Funny how that works! That’s it for the Majority Report’s AM Quickie today. Catch the full show this afternoon. Spark has revealed what it will cost to watch the 2019 Rugby World Cup through its Spark Sport app - plus a cover-its-bets approach that will see 12 games screen live or delayed on free-to-air partner TVNZ, including all pool games for the All Blacks, the AB's assumed quarter final, the semis and the final (see full list below). Those who purchase a "super early bird" pass in May will pay $59.99 to watch live every Rugby World Cup match. From June to early September, the price will be $79.99.Then in the "final few days" before the tournament starts in Japan, the cost will rise to $89.99.Single match passes will also be available for $24.99 once the tournament is underway.Source / Spark Sport.Pubs and clubs will be charged the same amount as individual consumers - meaning a bar could screen the tournament to patrons for as little as $59.99 but Spark warns "future sporting events will be priced at commercial levels" for commercial premises.Spark has also confirmed rumours it will take a conservative approach, with 12 games also screening on free-to-air partner TVNZ, and a fallback plan - as first revealed by the Herald on February 15 - for other games to be transferred to TVNZ's Duke channel "within a few minutes" in the event of technical glitches like those that ruined Optus' attempts to stream the FIFA World Cup to an Australian audience last year. The free games will be a mix of live and one or two-hour delay, following the model that Sky used with its Prime channel. The free-game line-up:• Friday 20 September / Pool A, Match 1 (opening match) / Japan v Russia / LIVESaturday 21 September / Pool B, Match 4 / NZ v South Africa / Delayed by 1 hourSaturday 28 September / Pool C, Match 13 / Tonga v Argentina / LIVEWednesday 2 October / Pool B, Match 20 / NZ v Canada / Delayed by 1 hourFriday 4 October / Pool B, Match 23 / South Africa v Italy / LIVESunday 6 October / Pool B, Match 27 / NZ v Namibia / Delayed by 1 hourWednesday 9 October / Pool D, Match 32 / Fiji v Wales / LIVESunday 12 October / Pool B, Match 34 / NZ v Italy / Delayed by 1 hourOne quarter final: TBC, but will be the NZ match, assuming the team progress past the pool stage / Delayed by 1 hourSaturday 26 October / Semi-finals, Match 45 / LIVESunday 27 October / Semi-finals, Match 46 / LIVESaturday 2 November / Final, Match 48 and medal ceremony / LIVERugby World Cup matches streamed on Spark Sport free-to-viewWednesday 25 September / Pool D, Match 10 / Fiji v Uruguay / Delayed by 2 hoursMonday 30 September / Pool A, Match 18 / Scotland v Samoa / Delayed by 2 hoursSpark has so far released web, iOS (iPhone, iPad) and Android versions of its Spark Sport app.Spark Sport was launched for the Melbourne Grand Prix in mid-March, priced at $19.99 a month. That price included all the sports in the Spark Sport stable bar the Rugby World Cup.Spark says you won't have to buy its $19.99 plan if you want the World Cup; you can choose to buy a RWC pass only. The insurgent sports streamer had a few technical wobbles with the second race of the Grand Prix with some on-demand footage freezing, but Spark said it was a process and human error issue rather than a technical problem and pledged to use the next few months to smooth everything out.Last week, Samsung said it would be the first smart TV maker to support the Spark Sport app, which will be added to models going back to 2016.Other TV makers are expected to announce their plans shortly, and Spark is expected to announce the availability of the Spark Sport app for more devices before RWC kick-off.Departing MD Simon Moutter has noted that Lightbox, Netflix and other streaming services have educated hundreds of thousands of households about streaming. That is true, but that still leaves an equal number who don't know Airplay from their elbow. A huge education campaign is needed between now and RWC kick-off on September 21.Mid-March, Spark said it had around 9000 Spark Sport subscribers. The co...

Correction: The Governor elect is giving the legislature up until a couple of weeks into March to come up with a fix to the Medical Marijuana amendment, and if they don't, DeSantis will drop the Smoke-ban appeal case. This does not mean that smokeable flower will be available by Mid March. My bad. Edacious Food Talk for Gluttons
103 - Gay Beery, A Pimento Catering. How did her family's circus background help in the art of Culinary Theater?

Edacious Food Talk for Gluttons

Catering is hard work. Chefs like Gabrielle Hamilton earned their stripes doing large corporate catering events and if you read her memoir, "Blood, Bones, and Butter," you know doing the job of caterer is no joke. There are long hours, unpredictable circumstances, and anxious customers hell-bent on having everything absolutely perfect. Ever watch Restaurant Wars on Top Chef? Well, a caterer builds a pop-up each time they do a job. Which can be multiple times a week in the busy season. How does the magic happen? Welcome to my FANTASTIC conversation with someone well aware of catering's triumphs and possible pitfalls. Meet Gay Beery of A Pimento Catering, a Charlottesville institution. "You build a restaurant for a night, and then you make it go away." Gay's life parallels Gabrielle's in many ways beyond food. Both women grew up in theatrical families with mothers who were dancers. Both fathers worked IN THE SAME CIRCUS! The story of how her parents met is one not to be missed. Gay credits her theatrical background with giving her the ability to perform Culinary Theater. A beautifully choreographed dance to make sure the food arrives hot and beautiful and perfect. No matter the location. Catering is theater and her employees are culinary actors and performers. At times it can be a circus. Many plates have to spin literally and figuratively in order for the magic to happen. And it's not just events! Gay also hosts once-a-month wine dinners at her beautiful space within The Glass Building. Phew! People sometimes complain about catering's cost. But imagine you take a group of folks to a restaurant. Now imagine that restaurant coming to you. Do the math. For an extra special event folks will remember, hiring a caterer beats plopping down a credit card at a restaurant hands-down. This is not, "Choose Beef, Chicken, Or Fish," catering. Gay and her team sit down with each customer, creating a unique menu from scratch based on the event itself, as well as their budget, wishes, and dietary needs. For those folks who can't tolerate gluten, Gail creates colorful, tasty dishes with vegetables, and REAL food folks can enjoy. No substitute flours or meats here people, because her beautiful vegetables and stunning crabcakes are something she's known for. "The jobs are like my babies." Birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, or the ever popular wedding, any reason you have to do a gathering, A Pimento can work with you. Catering has changed so much over the years. In the past customers were pretty hands off giving the caterer carte blanche to create whatever they wanted. Now customers are much more knowledgeable and opinionated about food, beverage, even fabrics. With price points, design choices, and multiple menus, hiring a caterer can be daunting. How does Gay make the process easy? And what about customers who walk in the door, Pinterest in hand, with no idea that what they envision is completely impossible within their budget? Pro tip: no ice cream cakes or croquembouche in an unairconditioned tent in July, please. THAT story made me do the ugly laugh. #sadbouche "My guiding practice has always been to always put myself in the seat of the client. What would make the client happy? That's what I want to do. What would make me happy? What would I expect? That's my guideline. If we can't meet that, then something's not right." Like a restaurant, catering does have busier seasons than others. Mid-March through June is crazy. July and August can be busy or not, but come September things ramp up again. Back in the day when Gay was first starting out she actually closed for a few weeks every summer because it was so slow. But the wedding industry changed that for good. Now she works year round. She moved here from DC almost 30 years ago, bringing with her catering experience she'd earned at a fancy grocery store. Initially, she couldn't even make a living in food. But that has certainly changed dramatically. What does she think of the changes? When you're the pre-eminent caterer in Charlottesville and the 2nd most popular wedding destination on the East coast, you've got more work than you can handle. How does Gay find balance? You don't want to say no, but you don't want to overwhelm staff either. Again, like a restaurant, Gay has to weigh staff needs and her own high standards in order to produce the most dramatic event possible. "Catering is the land of Shit Happens. And you have to embrace that from the beginning and be up for that, or it really isn't for you. Because we are building a kitchen in a tent...Anything can happen, and it usually does." What does A Pimento do when there are epic challenges? How does Gay make sure the performance still appears flawless if someone flubs their lines? How does behavioral psychology come into play? Any good Bridezilla stories? Where does she source her products? Does A Pimento have a signature dish? How does she navigate and work with the other folks doing the events like planners and florists? And what are Gay's tips for throwing a party on a weeknight for no good reason? Because we NEED that right now! What are her thoughts on the new Charlottesville Women in Food group? How can we help the young women just starting out? We spend a great deal of time brainstorming how business owners can share experiences. As Gay says, there are many of us, "...who suffer in silence." We enjoyed a nice rosé from Corsica during our conversation with some clementines and shortbread while the sunlight poured through her floor-to-ceiling glass windows. I could get used to this. Sure hope there's a second course sometime. Cheers! Stay edacious! March 2011 by Lisa Renee Dear Family, By the time some of you are reading this March newsletter you should be back standing nearly upright again. However like many of us in the Ascension crew, in recent weeks we have been maintaining a constant horizontal position nearly steamrolled to the floor at times. Activations upon activations coming in at all 360 degrees hitting multiple bodies - are buzzing nearly nonstop through our energy nadis and neurological system. Since mid February we have had massive sound waves at a vertical and horizontal axis collide and create an incredible impact on the planetary magnetic field. Not only are these Stellar Activations occurring in preparation for another Mid March shifting of consciousness, we are also in an incredibly heavy period of geo magnetic change from an onslaught of solar storms. Activations galore have had our bodies nervous system 'offline' ( when you're left horizontal during the day) or recalibrating many times daily. In fact if your nervous system and head are buzzing, you may want to work with the ES EMF Field calibration to smooth out your jangled nerves.
