“By Faith and by Sight: Re-envisioning Cathedral Outreach for a Time of Trial”led by the Rev. Julia Mitchener, Canon for MissionWe live in a period of tension, uncertainty, and human need such as many of us have never before witnessed. Simultaneously, we at the Cathedral of St. Philip have been entrusted with unprecedented opportunities to make a difference among our most vulnerable neighbors. Two newly endowed outreach funds totaling almost $50 million dollars will allow us to become partners in some of our region's most innovative and impactful efforts to address cycles of poverty, injustice, and despair. The creation of Buckhead Cares, a collaboration of the Cathedral, three other churches, and the United Way, has brought direct, on-demand social services for those dealing with housing, food, and job insecurity back to our neighborhood for the first time in over five years.

Welcome to Business God's Way, a podcast that equips Christian entrepreneurs to build successful businesses that honor God and positively impact the world. In this episode, we explore the intersection of wisdom and business, drawing insights from James 1:5.We begin by discussing the importance of wisdom in business. As Christian entrepreneurs, we know that our faith should guide everything we do, including our businesses. Wisdom is essential for decision-making, problem-solving, and leadership. By seeking Godly wisdom, we can make wise decisions that align with our values and goals, build successful and fulfilling businesses that honor God, and positively impact the world. We then turn to James 1:5, which reminds us that wisdom comes from God and that we can ask Him for it at any time. We discuss the biblical basis for seeking wisdom and the importance of having faith when we ask for it. We offer practical tips for incorporating prayer, Bible study, and seeking advice from other wise and experienced Christians into our daily business practices. By making seeking Godly wisdom a regular practice in our businesses, we can experience the benefits of improved decision-making, stronger relationships with customers and employees, and a greater sense of purpose and fulfillment.Join us in this episode as we explore the intersection of wisdom and business, and learn how seeking Godly wisdom can help us build successful and fulfilling businesses that honor God and positively impact the world.__________Make sure you tune into the next episode. YOUR Mindset helps your team meet your goals. Over the years, there was not a huge amount of variance in the overall performance of our agencies based on the level of day to day work we as leaders put in as operators: answering the phone, doing endorsements, solving client problems, addressing challenges. We could put in 60 hours, still have plenty to do, and in looking at agency KPIs, not move the needle along at all. The role of the leader is not to be mired down in the day to day details. Imagine if Warren Buffet was at the Geico call center answering calls! You ARE your agency’s Warren Buffet. Own it! Once we understood the importance of finding people who could and would fill in the gaps in areas where our time was being spent fruitlessly, when we were able to set aside our egos, and delegate responsibilities and empower team members, using processes and systems, productivity soared. Between Us, we have 5 locations, and two commercial buildings, writing over 700 policies a month, I have more freedom than ever to pursue the goals and dreams we have always wanted to. Busy is way different than effective.Managing processes instead of people takes a lot of pressure off of the business owner. If the PROCESS isn’t being handled, we will have conversations around how the most important metrics aren’t being met and then rectify. Or ultimately, we will make a change. While we have felt bad over the years letting people go, ultimately it’s on them. If the expectations are properly set, and the accountability for those activities and results are consistently measured, repeated failure is not the fault of the leader, if they’re inspecting what they expect. So this leads us to Motivation Monday. We will bring it for you weekly. Our commitment is to bring a Golden Nugget of wisdom which you use to inspire your team, and to help you be the most effective leader possible. We will bring quotes, books, and other wisdoms from all places, in order tSupport the show (https://www.dudes4u.com)

Good Shepherd Barrhaven Sermon Stream

Christian life can sometimes confuse us. We hear that we are beloved daughters and sons of God, but we also hear that we are supposed to behave well. That means sometimes when we haven't behaved well, we can wonder if we really are loved. In today's sermon on Jesus' baptism, Fr. Stephen explains how this tells us something important about our own baptism. We are fully loved because we are fully part of God's family. Yet, just as a parent trains a child to grow into maturity, God's direction trains us to show the world what God is like. Tune in to learn more.Scripture Reference: Matthew 3:13-17Preached on the Baptism of the Lord, January 12, 2020 by Rev. Welcome to October! It's the time of year for fall leaves, pumpkin spice everything (if you're into that...ICK!) and seriously gory, scary true crime podcasts. But, you know what, every true crime podcast goes that route. So, we've decided to mix things up a little this year. For the month of October, instead of going creepy, we're going cozy! Seriously scary crime stories with super cozy statistics about safety. In our first story, we learn some new vocabulary and what people taste like. Then Diana turns the episode serious with a seriously unhappy ending (but really comforting numbers!) This week, we also want to support some great causes!   Jacob Wetterling Foundation has a proven history of helping kids and families. VisionEnd all forms of child abuse, neglect, and exploitation through training, education, advocacy, prevention and awareness, providing care and treatment for children, families, and adult survivors. MissionWe work to end all forms of child maltreatment through education, training and prevention while advocating for and serving children, adult survivors and communities.
