Anti-diet does not mean anti-weight loss.  In this episode, Beth talks to colleague, Krista Muench about this common misconception and they dismantle the myths surrounding dieting and weight loss. They dive deep into discussions about the misconceptions that link intuitive eating to obesity, the damage caused by diet culture, and the necessity of focusing on healthy behaviors over numbers on a scale. Whether you're grappling with body image issues or seeking a sustainable path to wellness, this episode will empower you to transform your relationship with food and your body through evidence-based strategies and personal insights. Tune in to break free from weight stigma and embrace food freedom!About the Speaker: Krista Muench is a Registered Dietitian, Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor and owner of Dietitian Krista.   Much like many girls and women, Krista spent her early teens to early twenties trying to change her body through diet and exercise. Her obsession with nutrition was initially what led her down the path to become a dietitian. During her studies she realized that her behaviors were not only consuming her life, but that they also weren't at all healthy and rather quite disordered. She started taking a different approach to food, movement and self-care and from there her life and health improved immensely.  Krista see's way too many individuals struggling with body image issues, dieting and disordered eating much like she used to. As a result, she has made it her personal mission to help as many individuals as possible stop dieting for good, eat intuitively and improve their relationship with food and their bodies so they can live the healthy and fulfilling lives they deserve. You can find Krista at the following links:IG: @dietitian.kristaWebsite: www.dietitiankrista.comCONNECT MORE WITH BETH! Send us a Text Message. This week's guest is non-diet dietitian Krista Beck Muench.*Krista came from a dieting background where she exercised to burn calories and shrink her body and where she was caught in an unrelenting cycle of exercise, tracking macros and restriction. It was only when a friend introduced her to Intuitive Eating that Krista realised that there might be another way.Now she's on a mission to help women find acceptance in their today bodies and rebuild that sense of trust that is often disseminated by diet culture. This episode is one of my favourites as we jumped around a lot (popcorn brain!) but covered a great deal of issues that are very close to my heart. We spoke about the freedom that comes with relinquishing control over your body and allowing it to settle at its happy weight, whatever that may be.We discussed the followingHow we start to 'undiet' our livesRejecting the diet mindsetHow we can make peace with our changing bodiesAccepting that our bodies' happy weight may be higher than we'd like it to beThe dangers of weight cyclingKrista like me

T., Veith, K., Svergun, D. I., Skruzny, M., Sobott, F., Muench, S., Garcia-Alai, M. M. Abstract: During clathrin-mediated endocytosis, a complex and dynamic network of protein-membrane interactions cooperate to achieve membrane invagination. Throughout this process, middle coat adaptors, Sla2 and Ent1, must remain attached to the plasma membrane to transmit force from the actin cytoskeleton required for successful membrane invagination. Here, we present a cryoEM structure of a 16-mer complex of membrane binding domains from Sla2 and Ent1 that anchors to the plasma membrane. Detailed mutagenesis in vitro and in vivo of the tetramer interfaces delineate the key interactions for complex formation and deficient cell growth phenotypes demonstrate the biological relevance of these interactions. Finally, time-resolved experiments in solution suggest that adaptors have evolved to achieve a fast subsecond timescale assembly in the presence of PIP2. Together, these findings provide a molecular understanding of an essential piece for the molecular puzzle of clathrin-coated sites. Copy rights belong to original authors. Although no request was made for ransom, he was released unharmed and returned to his family. No one was arrested in connection with this crime. Abstract: Understanding how consciousness and cognitive function return after a major perturbation is important clinically and neurobiologically. To address this question, we conducted a three-center study of 30 healthy humans receiving general anesthesia at clinically relevant doses for three hours. We administered a pre- and post-anesthetic battery of neurocognitive tests, recorded continuous electroencephalography to assess cortical dynamics, and monitored sleep-wake activity before and following anesthetic exposure. We hypothesized that cognitive reconstitution would be a process that evolved over time in the following sequence: attention, complex scanning and tracking, working memory, and executive function. Contrary to our hypothesis, executive function returned first and electroencephalographic analyses revealed that frontal cortical dynamics recovered faster than posterior cortical dynamics. Furthermore, actigraphy indicated normal sleep-wake patterns in the post-anesthetic period. These recovery patterns of higher cognitive function and arousal states suggest that the healthy human brain is resilient to the effects of deep general anesthesia.
