In honor of National Nurses' Week, we're sitting down with Dr. Donna Fick – director of the Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence at Penn State University – and three of her Ph.D. student-researchers, Thakshila Dasanayake, Olivia Rubio, and Nahida Akter. While their backgrounds and upbringing couldn't be more different, these nursing leaders are bound by a desire to improve the lives of elders through groundbreaking research. By building on a growing evidence base for person-directed care and other more dignified and empowering interventions, Fick and her students are blazing a trail for the next generation of caregivers and elders. PART 2 It has been nearly two years since the National Nurses March in DC on May 12, 2022. We have stayed silent long enough. Why was there two separate nurse marches the same day in Washington DC? Why did the march keep changing it's name? Were the accusations of racism true? Why didn't the march(s) accomplish anything? Why didn't any nursing associations support it? Has there ever been a successful nurses march in Washington DC? How could that many nurses show up the same day in DC and have nothing to show for it? Why was this opportunity/this moment in time squandered? Will we ever have another opportunity like this with the same momentum? We are answering all this and more. Nurse Nina (@itsnursenina) joins Nurses Uncorked for part 2 of this two-part podcast to share what she experienced firsthand throughout the planning of the march. Nurse Jessica, Nurse Nina and Nurse Erica witnessed the unraveling behind the scenes, each from very different perspectives and involvement. After being bullied to keep quiet for nearly two years, it is time to tell the truth. For the first time ever, we are speaking publicly about what really took place and the abusive allegations one march made in an attempt at damage control against anyone that spoke out. Dr Dolores Fazzino I feel that we're in a time where it's about people taking their power back, learning how to trust their intuition, which we've been told is baloney, or quackery, which is actually our sovereign, right as a human being, Dr Dolores Fazzino 32:18 I think moving on. You just nailed it. It's just like, the only person you need to forgive is yourself. ABOUT DR DOLORES FAZZINO: Dr. Dolores Fazzino DNP is a Nurse Practitioner, Medical Intuitive, and an Energy Whisperer. She is a pioneer and visionary practitioner who uses energy healing to create true health and lasting wellness. Gifted since she was a child with intuitive abilities, being empathic, and a highly sensitive person, she is a medical intuitive, healer, and visionary; she's always been on the cutting edge. She worked under the revolutionary Dr. Bernie Siegel, an international expert and surgeon in the field of cancer treatment and complementary, holistic medicine in the 1980's. Dr. Fazzino believes healing is a multi-faceted and interconnected process. Our current healthcare system is exceptional at addressing the physical needs of the individual. However, the mental, emotional, and spiritual needs are lacking in our current healthcare system. When those needs are addressed, healing and lasting health and true wellness are achieved. Recognizing the many gaps in healthcare, Dr. Fazzino takes us beyond the mind-body paradigm to include spirituality in wellness. Through her companies Recovering Healthcare, and Spiritual Wellness for Life, this distinguished wellness practitioner offers customized programs and strategies to prepare clients through combining traditional medicine, energy healing, and intuitive counseling to assist clients in moving through dis-”ease”, life challenges, and reconnecting with their inner self with grace and ease She earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice DNP; degree in 2008 from Case Western Reserve University, one of the top nursing programs in the nation. In this special episode of the Nursing Strategies for Success Podcast, I am sitting in the Honolulu Airport waiting for my return red-eye flight to NYC and just simply beaming in gratitude for such an amazing experience! The Nurses Making Waves retreat was a truly transformative experience. The retreat was expertly planned and executed, with a perfect balance of educational sessions, self-care activities, and opportunities for socialization. The speakers were knowledgeable and engaging, delivering insightful presentations that left attendees (me included) feeling inspired and motivated. The retreat was also a wonderful opportunity for nurses to connect with each other, build relationships, and share experiences. The atmosphere was welcoming and supportive, with everyone genuinely excited to be there and to learn from each other. In terms of self-care, the retreat offered a range of activities designed to help attendees relax and recharge. From yoga and meditation to nature walks and massages, there was something for everyone. The spa-like setting and the beautiful surroundings only added to the overall experience. Overall, I would highly recommend the Nurses Making Waves retreat to anyone looking to rejuvenate and re-energize. It was a fantastic opportunity to step away from the demands of work and focus on personal growth and professional development. I came away from the retreat feeling refreshed, inspired, and ready to tackle the next challenge.Check out ways to connect with the individuals mentioned in the episode:Elizabeth Bockheim: Elizabeth Bockheim | LinkedInJanet Holliday: Janet Holliday, DD, MSM, MSN, RN, BC-NE, CDP | LinkedInJessica Ann McLallen: Jessica Ann McLallen RN, BSN HN-BC | LinkedInNena Hart: Nena Hart (MSN RN, CDONA, CHPN, CLHP, RAC-CT) | LinkedInMore to Follow:Follow the Nurses Making Waves Community: Nurses Making WavesFollow the National Nurses in Business Association: National Nurses in Business Follow NursesBond & ELEX Conference: NursesBond & ELEX Conference

Although some of the names, locations, and events have been changed or dramatized, it is important to remember this: this is what really happened to them, and it happened not only to them in New York, but in San Francisco, LA, Miami, and dozens of other cities in the US. Ellen and Valery were not alone, there were hundreds of nurses who went through this experience. They want to tell this story to give a voice to a generation lost, allowing the world to remember. The Pale Blue Dot is one of the most famous photographs ever taken, though you may not recognize the subject at first glance. NASA's Voyager I spacecraft launched in 1977 and traveled the solar system, transmitting images back to scientists on Earth and forever changing our view of our celestial neighbors. In 1990, as it was passing Neptune, Voyager turned its camera back to Earth and took a photo. This picture, taken nearly 4 billion miles away, shows Earth as a pale blue dot. The planet doesn't look like much, but it does show just how small we are in the grand scheme of things. And it's breathtaking. On National Space Day, we celebrate the wonder of the universe and what they teach us about life on Earth. In the midst of the Civil War, an unlikely hero emerged. This person was not a soldier or even a politician. Clara Barton, a trained nurse, was working as a patent clerk, when she decided to leave her civilian post to serve in the conflict. She attended the sick and injured troops on both sides of the front line, bringing food and medical attention wherever it was needed most. This earned Clara Barton the unofficial distinction of being an Angel of the Battlefield. She went on to found the American Red Cross and is celebrated today in both the North and the South. On National Nurses Day we celebrate the hard work and dedication of the people on our front lines today. I'm Anna Devere and I'm Marlo Anderson. Thanks for joining us as we Celebrate Every Day. OVERVIEW: Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast talks about the importance of surrounding yourself with like-minded people. He shares highlights from the conferences and seminars he recently attended noting a key benefit is socializing, interacting, and learning from other people to shift your mindset. EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: Jason recently led a workshop for a live audience at the Northwest Anesthesia Seminar in Las Vegas. He taught attendees about ketamine therapy and how they can start their own ketamine practice. Funnel Hacking Live is a popular conference for online marketers and business owners who use ClickFunnels' software. At this conference, HEA received two ‘Two Comma Club' awards for generating $1 million in sales each for two online courses. Only the top 1% of businesses receive this award. If people could become rich by simply following a 10-step plan, more people would be starting businesses. The top performers in any industry, business or niche, are the people who put in the hard work to get extraordinary results. Socialize, interact, and learn from other people to get your mindset in check. Jason made the greatest investment in his education to date - $25,000 to train with Russell Brunson. To increase your odds of success, find the right people with the right plan and then model it to meet your needs. Find people who will lift you up. Jason will be participating in a virtual presentation and roundtable for the National Nurses in Business Association Conference. The HEA raffle was a great success! There were six winners and Jason gave away more than $7000 in prizes. Thank you to everyone who participated and to all of the HEA podcast listeners! Stay tuned - more raffles are coming in the near future! 3 KEY POINTS: Teaching live is one way to hone your presentation and speaking skills. When you attend seminars and conferences, not only do you get to listen to amazing speakers, you also get networking experience and validation. Sometimes you need to go out, join a mastermind group, and socialize with like-minded professionals to get in the right mindset. Hello friends! It's Episode 25 of Smoke Til It's Gone Or Die! Patty's stoned ass was shocked that she hadn't yet covered one of her favorite psychological phenomena, Munchausen by Proxy. She covers the heartbreaking tale of Garnett Spears, whose mother Lacey strategically poisoned to garner attention from health care professionals and her social media circle. Trying to cover an equal but opposite topic, Rylee covers the story of William James Bresnahan Jr., a young boy who killed his parents over an argument while camping. The real twist comes when we see how his life turned out after this horrible tragedy. Patty's Probable Cause this week comes in the wake of the recent uprise of hate crimes against the Asian community in the US. The Asian Mental Health Project at https://asianmentalhealthproject.com/, recognizes that there is a pervasive cultural stigma that often discourages members of the Asian American community from receiving the help they need. In many Asian American communities, and in the greater American population, there exists a general lack of knowledge about mental health and mental illnesses. Because many of the symptoms of suffering are “invisible,” it is often harder for mental illnesses to be acknowledged. There is a misconception that struggling with mental health is a choice or a sign of weakness. They are here to dispel this belief and provide resources that are accessible to all. Rylee's Probable Cause is the American Nurses Association, as National Nurses week just passed. The ANA, at https://www.nursingworld.org/, believes that dedicated nurses deserve the best practice environments, and to be supported to live the healthiest lives. ANA is committed to safeguarding nurse wellbeing, for improved patient outcomes – and happier nurses. Let your friends know that they too can have their ears berated by the silly stoners that talk to you through your phone screen on every streaming service out there. Thanks for listening! Bye! Under Massachusetts' Chapter 94G and California's Proposition 64 Bills it is legal for us two assholes to possess and consume MaryJane, medically known as cannabis, in our respective states. We do NOT condone the illegal consumption, possession, or sale of cannabis in places it's not supposed to be smoked, man handled, or acquired from a legal dispensary. But we DO condone what the awesome humans at Marijuana Policy Project are doing to support legislation at the state and federal level to decriminalize cannabis across the country, and advocate for those who have been incarcerated for cannabis possession. Does Your Password Start With 123456? Welcome to May 6th, 2021 on the National Day Calendar. Today we celebrate stepping up security and the heroes on the front line of medicine. Anna: 123456. 1234567. 123456789. Marlo: Why are you counting? Anna: I'm not. Those are three of the most common computer passwords that people used last year. Marlo: Wow. That's terrible. Anna: Yep. And those are only a few. There's also the classic “abc123” and “password.” Marlo: You're kidding. Anna: I wish I were. In the movies, people create elaborate security systems that take forever to crack. In real life, we practically roll out the red carpet for cyber troubles. Today is World Password Day, a perfect time to update your computer security and make sure that your information is protected. On National Nurses Day we celebrate the hard working people with the same dedication and courage found on our front lines today. I'm Anna Devere and I'm Marlo Anderson. Thanks for joining us as we Celebrate Every Day!

Something very exciting is going on in the nursing community today. We’re seeing many nurses recognize their “inner entrepreneur” and start a small business both in and outside of healthcare. That’s where the NNBA comes in.
