Today’s guest is Guy Ferdman. This was one of the most fascinating interviews I’ve done to date, and literally felt high as if I was in an altered state when we had this conversation. Guy has a unique ability to merge ancient wisdom with modern practicality against the backdrop of everyday life. He is the host of the Acclaimed Mindset Podcast and co-founder of Satori Prime, an Educational community-based organization specializing in mindfulness, personal development, and spiritual inquiry. Guy has helped thousands of entrepreneurs in over 23 countries launch their businesses online. A marketing genius, the essence of his work has always been to coach people to profound breakthroughs at lightning speed. In this episode, we talk about how to become aware of your emotions and the sensations in your body so these emotions don’t negatively affect your body, and you can stay grounded and healthy amidst life's twists and turns. Guy shares how to stay connected to our primal roots that keep us healthy while still striving in our modern, tech- oriented world. We explore altered states of consciousness (with and without psychedelics and plant medicine) and a lot of other topics that in my opinion, are way ahead of their time. I had a blast talking with Guy and was so blown away with what he shared that I decided to split this interview into 2 episodes. Here is part 1, and without further ado, here is the episode. In a recent episode, I talked about what happiness means to me and how I see it affecting other people. In this episode, I talk about why I was at least partially wrong in that belief, and how I've been trying to evalute what happiness really means to me now. --- I am not a doctor, so do not treat this as therapy or medical advice. Homily. Christ is Born. Glorify Him. And a happy and blessed new year. If someone gave you new clothes you would be happy. If someone gave you a new car you would get excited. And if someone gave you a new house you would be hysterical. Getting new things always brings us great joy and that is one of the reasons Christmas is such a happy time of year. In addition to all the new things you recently purchased, in the next week or two you will receive at least one more new thing. It will be something you did not have before and something that may be with you for a very long time. Look for it in the mail. You will get a specially marked envelope announcing to you that in addition to all the new things you purchased you now have new bills and you are the proud owner of brand new debts. So, congratulations on all your new purchases, your new bills, and your new debts. There were a group of men in a very important meeting. They were all asked to turn off their phones and leave them in their jackets. But, during the meeting someone’s eel phone started ringing. One of the men quickly answered in a low voice then left the meeting and said “Sorry honey I can’t talk for long.” The woman on the phone said “Don’t worry, I just have a quick question. I was at the mall today and saw a beautiful dress. It is a bit expensive, but…” The man cut her off and said “Sweety, don’t worry, just buy it. I gotta go.” She was so surprised at his positive answer, then said “Honey, one other quick question. Before I left I noticed a very nice gold collector’s edition watch. I’m not sure how much it costs but it looks so nice and….” The man quickly cut her off again and said “Sweety, don’t worry, just buy it. I gotta go.” I promise I only have one more question: “As I was driving home our car was giving me some trouble. I went to the car dealership and the salesperson gave me a great deal on a brand new car with thousands of dollars of extras, outstanding features, and...” He stopped her and said: “Sweety, don’t worry, just buy it. I am in a very important meeting and I definitely have to go. Good-bye.” She said “Have a good meeting and try to be home by 6 because I’m going to prepare the best dinner ever.” He hung up then went back into the meeting and said: “Sorry guys, I just realized this is not my phone, but whosever phone this is, your wife wants you home by 6. She is preparing a great dinner for you and your family.” We live with the joy of getting and giving new things but we also live with a delusion when we think these new things have a lasting value. Things that are new may seem exciting for a while but the happiness they bring us does not last very long. In fact, most of the things we purchased has either made us fatter or given us a bigger debt. Usually the joy we get from new things quickly turns to disappointment. The Bible teaches us that we should be careful about becoming too happy when we acquire new food, new clothes, and new items. The Bible even warns us about new friends that like us for the wrong reasons. For example, we read in Proverbs 19:4. “Wealth brings many new friends, but a poor man is deserted by his friend.” We all wished each other a happy new year? But what is happy and what is new about this year? If our happiness comes only from what we bought or received, then we will not have a lasting happiness.Visit: https://www.holycrossmelkite.org/parish/homilies for the full homily description.Support the show (https://www.holycrossmelkite.org/donate)

What does it mean to be enlightened? Is it a place where you arrive or is it a state that comes and goes? Why do such moments of clarity, insight and lucidity not always last? Is it possible to wake up but not become permanently enlightened? Is it a good idea to try to pry open your 'third eye' without setting an emotional foundation first? In this episode, I ride solo, exploring the phenomena of awakening, enlightenment and third-eye opening experiences as observed and described by celebrities and comedians: Bill Hicks, Bill Murray and Jim Carrey as a means of understanding our own experiences in these realms. The week before he died, Hicks penned the following: “I was born William Melvin Hicks on December 16, 1961 in Valdosta, Georgia. Ugh. Melvin Hicks from Georgia. Yee Har! I already had gotten off to life on the wrong foot. I was always "awake," I guess you'd say. Some part of me clamoring for new insights and new ways to make the world a better place. All of this came out years down the line, in my multitude of creative interests that are the tools I now bring to the Party. Writing, acting, music, comedy. A deep love of literature and books. Thank God for all the artists who've helped me. I'd read these words and off I went – dreaming my own imaginative dreams. Exercising them at will, eventually to form bands, comedy, more bands, movies, anything creative. This is the coin of the realm I use in my words – Vision. On June 16, 1993 I was diagnosed with having "liver cancer that had spread from the pancreas." One of life's weirdest and worst jokes imaginable. I'd been making such progress recently in my attitude, my career and realizing my dreams that it just stood me on my head for a while. "Why me!?" I would cry out, and "Why now!?" Well, I know now there may never be any answers to those particular questions, but maybe in telling a little about myself, we can find some other answers to other questions. That might help our way down our own particular paths, towards realizing my dream of New Hope and New Happiness. Amen. I left in love, in laughter, and in truth and wherever truth, love and laughter abide, I am there in spirit. Hey, it’s Amy Newmark with some instant inspiration from Chicken Soup for the Soul. One of the things that fascinates me is the number of people who write stories for us about Chucking It All and Starting Over, with New Homes, New Jobs and eventually… New Happiness. Jeremy Stone said an amazing 7-week creative immersion in New York City gave him the courage to leave a 30+ year corporate career in a global professional services business. Needing to do something very different, Jeremy wanted to put himself out there, to feel, tingle, breathe and this was the catalyst to cause he and his wife to move to NYC and enrol in acting, painting, sketching and yoga classes. They also committed to getting to know one new person for everyday they were there, and were inspired by the stories of so many people, including local ‘creatives’, entrepreneurs and students and those connections are still ‘alive’. The couple lived like locals, explored like tourists and learned with the freedom of 5-year old’s. The experience tapped into the right side of the brain and was so amazing and beneficial, says Jeremy, which is why he and his wife co-founded Creative Cities 21 with the purpose to help people grow and re-energise through creative escapes in great cities of the world. The experience can unlock a person’s creativity, which is important because creativity has been identified as the third most required skill needed in the world. During this podcast Jeremy talks more about creativity and also mentions several other insightful topics one being wellness travel which is growing at twice the rate of normal travel. With lots of twists, fun, learning and hard work, the couple recently hosted their first group of participants in New York City and the results were remarkable! To find out more go to their website creativecities21.com where there’s a 10% discount with Promo Code MPT18 He also established Vaysh, an innovation advisory and investment company that assists organisations to grow by transforming and bringing new ideas to life.

God the Father enjoys watching His kids have fun. Why does the world believe, after watching us, that to become a Christian means to stop having fun? I do think we have to be careful. Our fun can become sin, or worse become our God. But does that mean no fun? Where is God on fun? Turn with me today to John 10:10.
