Sarytogan Graphite Ltd managing director Sean Gregory joins Jonathan Jackson in the Proactive studio after the company identified significant market potential for its Micro80C graphite product, targeting the grey cast iron industry as a potential high-volume application for its recarburiser. Testing has shown that this product is effective in reintroducing carbon during cast iron manufacturing. In this process, up to 6% carbon is added back to improve durability and malleability, a practice known as recarburising. The grey cast iron industry, producing approximately 31 million tonnes annually, consumes about 1 million tonnes of recarburiser, presenting a substantial offtake opportunity for Sarytogan. Gregory noted that this market represented a base load opportunity that could drive further expansion of the Sarytogan Graphite Project, complementing recent pre-feasibility study results. The next phase involves processing 20 tonnes of trial-mined ore from the Sarytogan deposit in Kazakhstan, with milling scheduled in Karaganda. From this, a tonne of milled ore will be transported to Australia to produce flotation concentrate, a portion of which will then be shipped to the US for purification. The resulting product samples, expected in quantities sufficient for vendor testing and customer qualification, mark a crucial step toward commercialising the 229-million-tonne Sarytogan resource. #ProactiveInvestors #SarytoganGraphite #ASX #Micro80C #GraphiteProduct #CastIron #Recarburiser #IronManufacturing #GreyCastIron #HighVolumeMarket #Kazakhstan #GraphiteMining #CarbonAddition #IronIndustry #MiningInnovation #OreProcessing #GraphiteConcentrate #ResourceCommercialisation #MetalProduction #SustainableMining #SeanGregory

Darcy and Darcy welcome back Steve Chedester, Director of Policy and Programs at the San Joaquin River Exchange Contractors Water Authority (Exchange Contractors). Steve shares some innovative infrastructure news that for us Water Nerds, is super exciting! The Exchange Contractors partnered with the San Luis Water District and the Grasslands Water District for the Los Banos Creek Detention Dam Reservoir Re-Regulation Project. (That was a mouthful!) This reservoir was once only used for the Central Valley Project Flood Control and now, through strategic improvements and re-purposing of existing infrastructure, yields new water reliability for the partners. The Project was made possible through Federal funding opportunities championed by Congressmen Costa and Duarte. Steve also provides an update on the San Joaquin River Restoration Project. You guessed it! It's been 15 years and not a lot of infrastructure progress yet, the price tag for the project continues to go up. A needed project without a viable funding source is problematic and additional funding is necessary to move forward. We Grow California Podcast is paid for by the Exchange Contractors Federal PAC and Exchange Contractors State PAC and is not authorized by any candidate or candidate committee.

You may have read about the shipping containers converted to housing for unsheltered people in Downtown Atlanta. It's called The Melody and it's the product of a City of Atlanta initiative for finding land the city owns and potentially using it for housing. The effort is supported by an analysis of city properties done by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). We talk with Kyle Wedberg, Ph.D. Senior Manager, Research and Consulting at GFOA about that analysis, and with Joshua Humphries, Senior Housing Advisor to Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens. The great value of making better use of the city's land is clear. But can we also make sure the results are putting lower-income residnets in homes that are part of walkable, transit-served neighborhoods? Anthony Randazzo owns Paradise - Plus lodge in Venice LA. Today, he joins the podcast to show us some new uses for an old standby knot. The Palomar knot has always been considered one of the strongest ways to tie a hook or lure to the end of the line. But today, Anthony shows us how to tie it on a bare spinning reel spool. This is a really good trick because it eliminates the need to spool monofilament, then tie the braid on. When braid is tied to a bare spool it is so slick that anglers have seen the entire spool of line rotate around the bare spool without ever finding purchase. Tape, or rubber gaskets have been used to create that purchase or simply using 10-50 yards of mono also works. This trick eliminates all of that and allows for much quicker spooling.
