In our first ever recording in front of a live audience at the VinePair HQ, we're revisiting the Old Fashioned, a drink that embodies the very definition of the cocktail and a concoction that has not only withstood the test of time but tells the very evolution of modern craft cocktail culture. Joining us to unpack that journey and dive deep on ingredients and technique is returning guest Steve Schneider, partner, bar manager and bartender at New York's Sip & Guzzle, and partner at Employees Only Singapore, The Odd Couple in Shanghai and The Elysian Café in Hoboken, N.J. Listen on (or read below) to discover Steve's Old Fashioned recipe — and don't forget to leave us a review wherever you get your podcasts!Steve Schneider's Old Fashioned Recipe - 2 ounces 100-proof rye whiskey, such as Rittenhouse (or bourbon)- 1 heaped bar spoon Demerara syrup (2:1)- 3 dashes Angostura bitters- Garnish: orange twist and brandied cherryDirections 1. Add all ingredients to an Old Fashioned glass filled with ice or one large rock.2. Stir briefly until chilled and incorporates (much shorter stir for single large cube).3. Gus Clemens on Wine explores and explains the world of wine in simple, humorous, fun posts

This is the weekly columThis column runs on Wednesdays in most markets—Christmas Day in 2024. If you have not secured your wine before now, no chance today. We can, however, look forward to New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.Sparkling wines are stars of New Year celebrations. Statistics indicate roughly 25 percent of all Champagne is sold between Christmas and New Year's Eve. Something like 360 million glasses of sparkling wine are consumed on New Year's Eve.People who don't usually drink sparkling, drink sparkling around the New Year celebrations. On a more sobering and serious note, New Year's Eve statistically is the most drunken night of the year, with sparkling wine playing a major role. The unfortunate quip is “New Year's Eve is amateur drunk night.”Enjoy wine in moderation so you can be around for the next annual celebration. With that in mind, a primer on the types of sparkling wine:• Champagne. Produced exclusively in the Champagne region of northeastern France (no matter what some rogue labels claim) using the traditional method (méthode champenoise) with secondary fermentation in the bottle. Three primary grapes—pinot noir, chardonnay, and pinot meunier.• Crémant. French sparkling made outside the Champagne region, using grape varieties typical to their regions using traditional method.• Cava. Spanish sparkling, primarily produced in Catalonia. Made using traditional method using Spanish grapes xarel·lo, macabeo, and parellada; also chardonnay and pinot noir.• Prosecco. Italian sparkling from the Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia regions using the Charmat method where secondary fermentation occurs in large tanks. Glera is the prime grape.• Franciacorta. High-quality Italian sparkling from Lombardy primarily made with chardonnay and pinot noir using traditional method.• Asti and Moscato d'Asti. Sweet sparklings made in the Piedmont region of northwestern Italy using the moscato bianco grape. Asti is fully sparkling (spumante). Moscato d'Asti is semi-sparkling (frizzante).• Sekt. German sparkling made with various grapes, some using traditional method, others Charmat.• New World Sparklings. Made in U.S., Australia, New Zealand and some other countries using traditional grapes and traditional method.• Cap Classique. Sparkling in South Africa using various grapes, primarily chardonnay and pinot noir, using traditional method.• Junk Sparkling. My term for very cheap wine infused with CO2 in the same way as soda pop. Guzzle this dreck at the close of 2024 and it is unlikely you will enjoy the dawn of 2025.Last roundMan walking home after too much sparkling at a New Year's party. Policeman sees him weaving and asks where he is going. There's a module for that Module name/project name: Drupal.org Username Field Brief history How old: created in August 2019 by hussainweb AKA Hussain Abbas of Axelerant Versions available: 2.0.0-beta4 Maintainership Actively maintained, that release was made less than 6 months ago Test coverage Number of open issues: 8 open issues, none of which are bugs Usage stats: 1 site Module features and usage The module provides a new field type, along with its own widget and formatter With a simple checkbox, you can get the module to validate that the provided username is registered on drupal.org What's really powerful about this module is that it can also pull other information from the drupal.org profile, such as first and last name, country, bio, and more It does this by leveraging a Guzzle-based API client for drupal.org that Hussain created as part of a DrupalCon Asia developer contest I believe the intended use of the modules is to use a provided drush command to copy the values from the drupal.org username field into other fields, where they would be displayed to site visitors Although this module isn't something that a lot of sites will need, I could see it being really useful for Drupal camp websites, to automatically collect a lot of the information that many such sites ask users to populate manually I think it's also an interesting use of the Drupal.org API, and could be a useful reference for anyone needing to implement a custom integration

It's Tuesday June 14th, 2022, and this is a look at the information security news from overnight. From BleepingComputer.comA new Linux rootkit malware named ‘Syslogk' can force-load its modules into the Linux kernel, and hide directories and network traffic. It also loads a backdoor called Rekoobe, which lays dormant until specially crafted "magic packets" are used to wake it up. The malware is currently under heavy development. From TheRegister.com:The Gallium group, believed to be a Chinese state-sponsored team, has begun using an upgraded remote access trojan called PingPull, that is very difficult to detect. The group is also broadening its scope, adding financial service firms and government agencies to the telecoms companies it usually targets. Their geographic focus continues to be Asia, Southeast Asia, Europe and Africa, From BleepingComputer.com:Metasploit 6.2.0 has been released with 138 new modules, 148 new improvements or features, and 156 bug fixes since version 6.1.0 was released almost a year ago. Great for the pen teasters. Unfortunately, also great for the threat actors that use it as well. Details in the article. From PortSwigger.net:Attacks on smartphones require physical access to the device and interactions with the touchscreen. Or at least they used to. According to new research an attack can execute taps and swipes on the phone's screen from a distance of up to 40 millimeters. The attack, called GhostTouch, uses electromagnetic interference to manipulate the touchscreen and can initiate calls or even download malware. And last today, from SecurityWeek.comThe Drupal team has released a moderately critical advisory for serious vulnerabilities in the third-party library Guzzle that handles HTTP requests and responses to external services, and can be exploited to remotely hijack Drupal-powered websites. The vulnerabilities do not affect Drupal core, but may affect some contributed projects or custom code on Drupal sites. Details and a link to the advisory in the article. That's all for me today. Have a great rest of your day. Like and subscribe, and until tomorrow, be safe out there.

It's Friday May 27th, 2022, and this is a look at the information security news from overnight. From BleepingComputer.com:Microsoft security researchers have found high severity vulnerabilities in a framework owned by MCE Systems that is used by Android apps. The vulnerabilities expose users to command injection and privilege escalation attacks. The apps have millions of downloads on Google's Play Store and come pre-installed as system applications on devices bought from operators including AT&T, TELUS, Rogers Communications, Bell Canada, and Freedom Mobile. Patches have been issued. From PortSwigger.net:Guzzle, the popular HTTP client for PHP applications, has addressed a high severity vulnerability leading to cross-domain cookie leakage. The flaw resides in Guzzle's cookie middleware, which is fortunately disabled by default, so most library consumers will not be affected. Drupel is one of the applications that use the third-party library and has released updates to address the issue. From CNN.com:A ransomware attack has forced officials in Somerset County New Jersey to switch off their computers and set up temporary Gmail accounts so the public can communicate with key agencies like health, emergency and sheriff's departments. The county says the attack has only affected email and IT systems and that phone lines and emergency service systems are all working properly. No word on the threat actor or specific malware involved. From BleepingComputer.com:The Austrian state of Carinthia has been hit by the BlackCat ransomware gang, who demanded $5 million to unlock their encrypted computer systems. Evidently thousands of workstations have been locked by the attack. The government says there is no evidence that BlackCat actually managed to exfiltrate any data, and that the plan is to restore the machines from backups. From ThreatPost.com:Multiple flaws have been found in Open Automation Software, a popular platform used by industrial control systems. The two critical and five high severity vulnerabilities could allow unauthorized device access, remote code execution, or denial of service that could ultimately threaten the stability of critical infrastructure. The flaws affect OAS Platform version 16.00.0112. See the full Cisco Talos report in the article. And last today, from BleepingComputer.comWindows previewed its upcoming cumulative update, which unfortunately has some compatibility issues with some of Trend Micro's security products, including the ransomware protection feature. The issue affects the User Mode Hooking component used by several Trend Micro endpoint solutions. The company is working on a fix to address this issue before the updates are pushed to all Windows customers as part of their June Patch Tuesday. That's all for me this week . Have a great holiday weekend. Take a moment to remember those that gave their last full measure to secure the freedoms of the rest of us. And until next time, be safe out there.

#115 - Our number one necessity as overland travelers is unquestionably water. We can only survive approximately three days without water, so for us it's at the top of the list. One of the challenges on water was the weight of carrying larger volumes, along with the space requirements. At 8.3 lbs per gallon, and the approximate need of roughly one gallon drinking water per person, per day; not considering the estimated 10.9 gallons per day the average person uses just from their household faucet, this gets out of hand quickly! Thankfully there's a plethora of options available. Therefore, being able to store and purify water had lots of potential solutions. Our hangup was the weight of carrying large amounts of water (20 gal. +), the required space, along with being able to pump water from numerous sources, while not pumping potentially harmful water into a container, relying purely on filtering it later. Something about contaminated water from every source we ever pull from being added into a container to continually grow who knows what, relying on filtering after the fact, was bothersome (to us).Full Show Notes at: https://ghtoverland.com/guzzle-h20

On this episode of Creepy Kids Radio, I introduce a brand new segment: "GUZZLE 'N GULP"! Each installment will be a (drunken and stoned, but, ultimately very utilitarian) guide to building a seasonal meal and pairing cocktail (or beer, wine / spirit). This is my chance to prove to you idiots that I do actually know about cool, smart-people things too. Bougie things. You know what the fuck I'm saying? I'm talking about things other than just weed strains and fuckin Death Grips factoids. Things other than just ass & titties. Fuckin TikTok kids and Jeff Bezos's space-dick joyride. Imagine that. Today, I'll be mixing up an ice cold, shaken Paloma and pairing that with a sweet and spicy Southwestern Chili. In addition, we'll be having Hot Red Andouille Sausage "Pigs in a Blanket"s as a stick to your cute little ass and ribs, less than humble side dish. This is a nice curveball to your normal summer grill-fare and is a perfect meal if you're lucky enough to catch a cool breezy evening or a Mid-July lightning storm. Just don't expect to fuck or eat pussy after downing this. I really do mean that. This is gunna fuck you up a little bit. But, thats never stopped you before, so, have at it. And to those of you who may be saying: "wtf haha what an asshole." Maybe you should be asking yourself if you can even count the amount of times that you acted too smart or cool to enjoy something simple and wonderful and unpasteurized by fucking Target Corporation or Coopted by Disney Plus or whatever and how many hours you've wasted away on preconceived notions instead of just living sensually and with fuckin childlike, playful instinct. And not in some Joe Rogan, "I'm right and you're wrong", Elk meat eating Republican idiot, doomsday "Prepper" pervert, kind of way. No, not like that at all. Fuck you. To you I am simply trying to say: Eat the chili. Drink the fucking delicious Paloma and shove a fucking dough wrapped hot dog down your stubborn too good for fun hole. >:) Paloma: Tequila (Blanco), Grapefruit soda, Orange Curacao, Limes (freshly squeezed) - Best served shaken with light ice in a "Highball" glass. Garnish with Grapefruit (sliced). Southwestern Chili: Ground Beef, Onion, Tomato, Garlic, Serrano Chili, Black Beans, Kidney Beans, Beef Broth, Tomato Sauce, Chili Powder (Seasoning Mix), CocaCola (optional) - The longer you let this one sit, the better. Keep it at a low temperature and get to smoking some weed, dumb dumb. Red Hot Andouille "Pigs in a Blanket": Louisiana Style Andouille Sausages, Cresset Roll (dough sheets), Sharp Cheddar Tracklist: 1. Fortunate Youth ft. Matt Liufau - Jah Music 2. Madvillain, MF DOOM, Madlib - Curls (Instrumental) 3. Dr. Dog - Engineer Says ("Midi Swamp" Version) 4. Junior Murvin - Police & Thieves 5. Together Pangea - Friend of Nothing (Acoustic) 6. The Christmas season is here! Well, Christmas lasts about 5 months in this part of the world, so it’s actually been here since we still needed air conditioning. Anyway, Home Alone! It’s the G-rated Straw Dogs. It’s also the movie where we root for a housebound child to practically murder 2 men for trying to steal the VCR. Kevin will probably grow up to be a big fan of the 2nd Amendment…or perhaps a cancer-stricken serial killer who really digs booby traps. Anyway, this John Hughes/Chris Columbus blockbuster is packed with cartoonish violence & cartoonish performances and a resourceful kid gets to be the hero by any horrific means necessary. Arrest that burgeoning sociopath! Anyway, the movie ISN'T packed with much meaningful character development (especially amongst the jerky members of this strange family), but it remains entertaining and fun. Macaulay Culkin wasn’t even 10 years old when Home Alone came out 30 years ago, but it made him a movie star. So don’t give up. Be thirsty for more…of the 370th Ellises’ Analysis! Vulgar (guitar/vocals) made it in six months in spring 2018 with Jeff Giant (bass) and Blake “Bovver” Hill (drums), two guys who’ve been the beating about-to-burst heart of the Organism for about three albums now, including one for Third Man and one for In The Red. “I’ve been on almost every single underground garage punk label there is,” says T.V. proudly, and now he’s the fresh meat on Burger. But when you hear a Timmy Vulgar record, you will know it’s a Timmy Vulgar record and nobody else’s record, and Survival of the Fiendish is an extremely Timmy Vulgar record. Even more Vulgar! It’s as Vulgar as Vulgar gets. Sure, make connections: “Guzzle Gasoline” is like Raw Power-ed freak rock; “God of Comedy” is like Destroy All Monsters on a solo Roky nightmare trip; “Bitter Pill” is like one of those Cleveland 197X tearjerkers—Rocket From The Tombs, Dead Boys, ain’t it fun?—about losing your mind to and “Wall Of Grey” is post-apocalypse proto-punk just like Chrome and Mick Farren knew would come true. It’s been almost twenty years and Timmy Vulgar is still the king of hard-to-make (and harder to fake) rock ‘n’ freak ‘n’ roll made from black light and white heat. He’s been covered in bloodstains, killed by death, ripped from the crypt and sent back from the grave. He worked long and hard to get you this music. He went out into the dark and brought back fire. Oh boy. Today’s show gets a little forward thinking by identifying ways that energy companies can monitor your activity for the benefit of your wallet. Information is power and in this case that power is literal! It’s your power bill, your energy bill. Knowing how you’re using energy gives you the information you need to save money. And that’s what the utility companies are hoping to accomplish with 3rd party monitoring. They’ll even pay YOU to participate! The end result is you save money and in learning how to do so, you even get paid. That’s a great deal. Good for all. Knowing the relationship to solar panels and the size of your home, you can really save money on solar and invest it in other options to help you save both money and have a more comfortable living environment. “Just right” solar is the way to go once you’ve gone through the reduce before you produce process. It’s one thing to save a bunch of dough but what if you also got rebates as a result? How do you know what you’re entitled to? You’ll hear the answers in today’s show. Thermostats can range from complex to the most basic and simple. Guess what? When your house is sealed tight and operating right, do you really need all the gizmos? Is there a simpler way? Of course there is. You don’t have to have the latest greatest operating systems if your home is truly efficient. A simple on off temperature thermostat could suffice and still keep your home running right. If all you’re doing is setting and forgetting, that’s perfectly fine. The boys take a trip to old town Pasadena - just like a little old lady they might have met along the way - for Alien Con 2018. But beer, as always, was at the forefront of their minds, so they sought out the small Stone Brewery tasting room/filling station at the Pasadena train station to sample more of the mammoth craft brew giant’s consistent selection of west coast IPA’s, including the new Impeach and Idolotrous. Night 2 we prayed at the altar of the Cathedral-themed Congregation Ale House - a small franchise in southern California that brews its own beer, serves fine sausages (which you know we love sucking down) and has a plethora of guest libations to pour over. Is Pasadena worth a visit when playing the craft brew game of life? Is the Stone gargoyle petrifying in it’s risk averse offerings west coast styles during the hazy revolution? Do we truly understand bacon canyon udder sputter from grammy’s old teets? Guzzle down with us and find out!

Nestled between the OC’s two major sports stadiums, Noble Ale Works’ popularity is on the rise. With consistent, limited releases of New England/Hazy/Juicy IPA’s like 48K Juice, Creature from the Murk Lagoon, and The Juice is Out There; as well as massive stouts like Whoomp! There It Is, 2017 has been this formerly solid, if a bit unexceptional, brewery’s second coming out party, with widely sought-after can releases powered by a new Head Brewer, and a hard-earned expansion to it’s facility and taproom coming soon. Does this recent spike of hype justify them as the noble ruler of the Anaheim, CA beer scene? Guzzle down with us to find out!

1. Let's grab a beer after work. 2. A glass of red for me,thanks. 3. She just pounded another Bacardi.pound的本意是重复的重击,在这里引申为很快地喝掉一瓶酒,往往带有一些诙谐甚至讽刺的意思。 4. Dad loves sipping ErGuoTou. 5. Guzzle it! 6. Break out the champagne. 7. Hit me. 答曰:“Hit me.” ②斟酒pour a drink. Fill the glass to the top ④酒溢出the drink overflows. Let's make a toast. ⑥碰杯touch/clink glasses. Bottoms up! /cheers!⑧一口闷drink in one gulp.⑨微醉的tipsy

Not... Look, we go into every episode with a plan, maybe not the most detailed plan, but some semblance of a plan. Sometimes we hit our marks and other times we go off script and talk, at length, about the various contexts of the word guzzle. This episode is definitely of the latter's persuasion and honestly it's fine, it's our bread and butter. Disjointed, incomplete, often wrong - that's Totpod to a T. An hour or so of honest conversation, that's what you'll get every week and will continue to get every week until life (or the authorities) force us to stop. So for our Season 3 finale, we offer to you the same as we offer you every week - Chaos. Trying out a slightly more professional format with questions, Phil manages to avoid talking over everyone. Winner! This show has a history of talking about FIG stuff as it is hard to avoid. The group is working on so much cool stuff and prominent figures of the community are involved. We got two more prominent figures, who also happen to be involved with FIG stuff: Beau Simensen lead developer of Sculpin and Michael Dowling lead developer of the wonderful HTTP library Guzzle, who also works at AWS on their PHP SDK. We discussed each of their projects, some of the plans for the future, specifically whats coming up in Guzzle 4 and how that all ties in with the new PSR-7: HTTP Message, currently in “Draft” status. Conveniently Beau, Michael and Phil are the three FIG members who make up the working group for PSR-7 who will all be working to get this “Accepted”. See, it all fits! What are your thoughts on using Bash as a provisioner? Why or why not use it? – Edmund Zynda Thoughts on the new github Atom editor – Matthew Reschke Beau & Michael, you’ve both been managing open source packages (OSP) for a few years. What’s the best and worst part of managing an OSP? – Jeremy Lindblom @Michael do you think a simple HTTP Server interface would fit PSR-7? That would be a good replacement for StackPHP, no? – Marco Pivetta I’m curious about how this HTTP client relates to the pecl/http extension. There’s been talk in the past of including that extension in the core. – Ben Ramsey What different circumstances dictate how long a PSR takes to get from proposal to blessed by FIG? – Edmund Zynda So, plenty for you folks to watch here on the YouTube video!

## Track * What is the theme of the track? I tried to make the theme consistent with the overall DrupalCon Prague theme of “One to many”.  Leveraging new paradigms in Drupal 8: improving your projects and workflows Drupal as an application platform Integrating Drupal’s API with other systems and libraries So we really want to present Drupal as a unifying platform, that can consolidate many technologies.  Part of that is what Alex is going to talk about in his featured session - removing some of the Drupalisms that we have all gotten used to in favour of incorporating best-of-breed open source components from outside the community. I think Symfony’s components are the most obvious example there, but there are a lot of other components too (like Guzzle, Doctrine). Another element is the general move to OO, PSR-0, and the adoption of modern design patterns which bring us up to date with other major PHP projects. The plumbing is there now to integrate with other frameworks - and we’re doing that. I’ve kind of been talking about low level code integrations, But theres also a lot that can and has been achieved with Drupal as it is today, by incorporating integrations with outside systems via web services, or supplying services to other systems. So I would like some of our presentations to cover how Drupal integrates, and maybe in ways you hopefully haven’t thought of. ## Session * What is the name of your session, and what is it going to be about?
