Steve spends another week busy with HS hockey and Brandon has taken up Taekwondo as an adult. Night of the Lepus: Man's interference in nature comes back to bite him, with two giant anterior incisors. First, a farmer kills off all the coyotes on his land. Then, with no natural predators, the place is overrun by rabbits. What's he supposed to do now? Recruit a scientist to inject chemicals and hormones into the rabbits to kill them off, of course. But, as bad luck would have it, one of the modified rabbits is set free. That little fella procreates prolifically, as rabbits do, and soon, the Arizona countryside has to deal with a horde of giant bunny rabbits. Night of the Lepus final grade: Steve: Takes me back to the old days in Columbus, OH, hiding under my covers and watching creature features with Fritz the Nite Owl. Not a fantastically well-done movie, but the lighting is terrific and the nostalgia even better. 3.89/5.0 Brandon: A snuff film Elmer Fudd would love. Quaintly charming for its lack of special effects used on the "terrifying" rabbit menace. Worth watching if you're curious about stepping outside the standard horror spectacle. 3.03/5.0 MOCKtail of the Week: Sparkling Cherry Mocktail with Lime 2 oz Unsweetened Cherry Juice, "the expensive shit" 1 oz Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice 1 oz Cherry Simple Syrup Sparkling Water or Club Soda Combine all non-fizzy ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Shake to chill and combine, then strain into a rocks glass over ice. Top with sparkling water. Garnish with lime wedge/slice and cherries. To turn it into a cocktail, Steve added two ounces of vodka Mocktail Grade: A very good non-alcoholic drink. Also, with no articial ingredients and all that stuff, it's a great replacement for your soda of choice. 4.5/5 Cocktail Grade: Delicious and sweet as the NA version. Oddly, kinda picked up a hint of vanilla flavor with the added vodka. Tones down the cherry a bit. 4.5/5 ------------------ Contact us with feedback or cocktail/movie recommendations to: boozeandbmovies@gmail.com X: @boozeandbmovies Instagram: @boozeandbmovies Threads: @boozeandbmovies www.facebook.com/boozeandbmovies
This episode, we're joined by Eric Berlatsky, a professor of English who also happens to be a passionate fan of Watchmen. He's a lifelong comics fan who read Watchmen as it came out and has been a huge fan ever since. it was fun to talk to someone who's been a fan of the series since it came out! We go over issue #10, which is when Nite Owl and Rorscach figure out what's up! And is there more pirate comic book? Yes there is! And Professor Eric has a take on the pirate comic that the Milksops had never considered! That's just ONE of the cool insights we've get in this episode! Loose screws are: The Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown and the Marvel animated series What If, season 2? In addition to being a professor, Eric has is the editor of a collection of Alan Moore interviews called Alan Moore: Conversations. For more info on that, you can go here: https://www.upress.state.ms.us/Books/A/Alan-Moore
We welcome Alex Zalben of Comic Book Club podcast to discuss Watchmen issue 8. In this issue, the series becomes almost joyful as Nite Owl and Silk Spectre bust Rorschach out of prison. Sure there's a few brutal murders along the way, and another brutal murder after -- but the issue is somewhat happy. With Alex on board, the Milksops talk for almost two hours about this tremendous issue. Alex has loved Watchmen since he first read it. We talk about the time HIS comic book podcast reveiwed watchmen, and the cool Watchmen watch he just couldn't stop bragging about! (We loved it). Also it's episode 300! Thanks to everyone who has listened to us along the way! We're just getting warmed up! That's not true, we're about as warm as we're gonna get. But we're having a great time and thank you for listening! To subscribe for monthly bonus episodes, go to screwitpodcasts.com. 20% off annual plans through the end of 2024 with code HOLIDAY24.
Bryan Stratton from the terrific Marvel by the Month podcast joins us to go over Watchmen #7, the issue where Nite Owl II and Silk Spectre get together! But not before they have sexual anxiety, nightmares of nuclear apocalypse, and a quick run of saving people from a fire! Bryan talks about discovering Watchmen in his early comics reading days and why he loves it so much. We talk about what the function of Nite Owl is - are we supposed to relate to him? Or is he the fanboy completionist, but with powers? We also talk about how the Snyder film got this part of the story so wrong (while still looking so great). Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universes Last week, just two weeks ahead of the studio's return to San Diego Comic Con and the release of their sole theatrical outing for the year, Marvel surprised fans by releasing the teaser trailer for Captain America: Brave New World. Clocking in at just under two minutes, this first look is chock full of characters, set pieces and action, with a tense political atmosphere on display that certainly harkens back to 2014's much beloved The Winter Soldier. Marvel Animation has clearly found a voice they have a lot of confidence in, as What If…? series writer Matthew Chauncey has been hired to write the third season of X-Men '97. He replaces Beau DeMayo who wrote the incredibly well received first season of the animated revival as well as the yet to air second season, before being infamously fired by Disney ahead of the show's premiere. Chauncey previously stepped up into a leadership position when he replaced What If…?'s A.C. Bradley as the head writer for season 3. Beau DeMayo received a lot of retroactive praise for not shying away from social issues and commentary with his first season of X-Men '97. Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy's career seems to continue to be on the upswing, as his Star Wars film locked down a writer, Levy's frequent collaborator, Jonathan Tropper. Tropper wrote 2022's The Adam Project and is well established in the TV world, having created both Warrior and Banshee, as well as working as the showrunner for Apple TV's See. There are a lot of Star Wars films in the works these days, many of which were announced prior to Levy's and have yet to receive such significant updates. Despicable Me 4 held the top spot at the box office last weekend, becoming the first animated franchise to cross the $5 billion threshold. Newcomer Longlegs took second place with an impressive $22.6 million debut, setting a record for indie distributor Neon. Warner Brothers and Paramount have unveiled the first trailer for Watchmen Chapter 1, the first of two upcoming animated films set to release digitally on August 13th. The voice cast features Matthew Rhys as Nite Owl, Katee Sackhoff as the second Silk Spectre, Titus Welliver as Rorshach, and Michael Cerveris as Doctor Manhattan, among other notable actors. Michael Bay is in talks to direct Barbaric, a fantasy series for Netflix based on the Vault Comics title. It will star Sam Claflin and Patrick Stewart with X-Men First Class screenwriter Sheldon Turner writing and executive producing the series. Prime Video has ordered The Greatest, a limited series about Muhammad Ali from executive producers Michael B. Jordan and Ben Watkins with Jaalen Best starring as Ali. It is the first authorized scripted series with access to Ali's estate. Apple TV+ released a teaser for Severance Season 2, which premieres on January 17 and will include 10 episodes that release on Fridays weekly. A prequel series to Martin, the show that ran on Fox from 1992 to 1997 and starred Martin Lawrence is in development and will be titled Young Martin. Lawrence's production company RunTelDat will produce. Filming on Euphoria's third season is slated to begin in January 2025 — just about three years after the premiere of season two. HBO says all of the principal cast is set to return, including Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, and Hunter Schafer. Shelley Duvall who starred in seven films directed by her mentor, Robert Altman and is best known for her role in Stanley Kubrick's The Shining, died last Thursday. She was 75. Shannen Doherty, who starred on Beverly Hills 90210 and Charmed, has died after a long battle with cancer. She was 53. On Monday, Netflix released a behind the scenes video of production of the final season of Stranger Things featuring looks at the set, returning cast, and new characters. The series is currently expected to debut sometime in 2025.
Warner Bros. Discovery has announced the stellar cast for the animated adaptation of Alan Moore's iconic graphic novel, Watchmen: Chapter I, set to release on August 13. This adaptation features Matthew Rhys as Nite Owl, Katee Sackhoff as Silk Spectre, and Titus Welliver as Rorschach, among others. The movie will be available digitally and on Blu-ray (4K Ultra HD) on August 27, with Watchmen: Chapter II slated for 2025. Fans can also enjoy past adaptations like Zack Snyder's 2009 film and Damon Lindelof's 2019 miniseries on Max while they wait.

in the mandaorian season 3 episode 3 we got bo katan joining the children of the watch. This of course is a big moment considering she has been devoted to being a nite owl for so many years. First having joined Pre Vizsla, she was a strong member of death watch, a warring faction of mandalorians who became disillusioned with the ways of the new mandalorians that they deemed to be too pacifist. As we saw in previous mandalorian seasons and just in episode 1 of this third season, she really wasn't all for the children of the watch when mando told her about his quest to venture into the living waters below the mines on mandalore. She called it a bunch of superstition and never respected these outdated ways of not removing your helmet. If you remember at the end of the episode, she was staring at the mythosaur skull on the wall and the credits rolled. She didn't tell din about the mythosaur existing in the waters either. She is playing a game here, a game of chess and she knows that she will have to build a relationship with mandalorians in order to convert them to her cause once she rules mandalore either by way of dark saber or taming the mythosaur, dawning a new age of mandalorians. This new age would be her age of uniting all mandalorians under her way, one way, eliminating factions and keeping it to just one. from the dawn of time mandalorians with their dominant and aggressive nature have waged civil war on themselves just as much if not more than the wars they waged on the rest of the galaxy. I believe she would do a good job in rebuilding mandalore once she either gets the dark saber or mythosaur. I think she's a good manipulator and opportunist where she would unite them under a common enemy. Such as remnants of the Imperial forces or a new emerging threat. This shared struggle could solidify their alliance and help bring the Mandalorians together. Once the Mandalorian factions are united, Bo-Katan would likely focus on rebuilding Mandalore, both physically and culturally. This could involve restoring the planet's infrastructure, reintroducing long-lost traditions, and reestablishing Mandalore's place in the galaxy. The only concern I would have if I were Bo, would be the factions that don't support her leadership, like paz vizsla for example. Relative to pre vizsla, who was the leader of death watch, Bo eventually left his clan and deemed him too violent. I think Paz resents her for her betrayal. Even with a united Mandalore, Bo-Katan would likely face internal power struggles and challenges from other factions or individuals who might question her leadership. This could provide ongoing conflict and storylines in the show. I believe her affiliation with ahsoka tano could lead her to join her fight against Grand Admiral Thrawn, and with her Mandalorians on her side, it would surely be a great battle that would have to be explored in the ahsoka show and beyond. Before digressing much more, I believe Bo Katan is very intelligent and for sure is just playing the game by faking her compliance with the children of the watch, despite thinking they are an absolute joke. I think the children of the watch have so much honour that they wouldn't dare anyone to fake their true intentions, but Bo Katan, being a Nite Owl, isn't so rigid like the others. She takes her helmet off and lets her hair blow in the wind, facing battle head on, wheareas the children of the watch led by the armorer, believe in their old and elitist ways as being the only possible way a mandalorian should live. We hear a new revision of NiteOwl's matrix of Led Zeppelin 8/31/69 at the Texas International Pop Festival. Zack Snyder's Watchmen was relatively well-received by fans and overall was a box office success. Devoted to making a faithful adaptation of the Alan Moore/ Dave Gibbons graphic novel, the fact that Snyder's Watchmen film got made on the scale it did is a miracle. However, several other versions of Watchmen were in the works before Snyder got involved, with several coming close to being made. In this episode of WTF Happened to this Unmade Movie, we dig into versions that almost got made involving folks such as Terry Gilliam, David Hayter (who filmed a demo reel with Ray Stevenson and Rorschach and Iain Glen as Nite Owl), Darren Aronofsky and Paul Greengrass. Suppose any of these versions had gotten made. In that case, we might have gotten someone like Paddy Considine as Rorschach, Joaquin Phoenix as Nite Owl, and possibly even Tom Cruise as Ozymandias (in which case the adaptation likely would have had little to do with Moore's comic). In the end, perhaps it was best that no one succeeded in getting the movie made until Snyder, with it also paving the way for the excellent HBO limited series and maybe some future Watchmen stories to come.

Katie and Noah Mock rock both Nite Owl and Fizzy's Fountain and Liquors in Little Bohemia. I met Katie at the Aksarben Burger Battle where her crew was serving up a tiny yet tasty double patty tribute to the burger that I became deliciously familiar with at Fizzys. Katie, Noah, and I got to talk food and discuss the hardline table telephone ordering at Fizzy's along with insight into the world of their restaurants. I look forward to you being at the table with us….so Hang on to your fork and listen if you're hungry.
The owners of Nite Owl return to tell the tale of their newest venture, a soda fountain/ice cream parlor for adults. Three quarters of the way through Watchmen! The movie continues to be a combination of gross, boring, and most of all, blue! In this week's viewing, Rorschach is unmasked and Nite Owl is un-underweared. Will we find a way to shoehorn a third conversation about food into this episode? Yes! But more importantly, we read some more ScreenRant! Sam | Val | Gigalithic Twitter
