From Apple WWDC 2022, Some Accessibility and system stuff I have come Across so Far   Thought I'd focus on Mac OS for the Moment   System Preferences   Completely new interface with a Table to choose preference settings, and then a scroll area to use for VoiceOver users.   In other words, similar to the iPad Settings layout.   Also in System Settings/Accessibility, under Audio, you can now choose Background sounds, similar to iOS.   Clock   The Clock iOS app is now on the Mac giving the same access to World clock, Alarm, Stopwatch, and Timer.   FaceTime or Zoom   In Preferences within Zoom or under the Video menu in FaceTime, you can now choose your iPhone as the video camera. Using the back camera for video. Your iPhone will make a sound when the camera is connected to the Mac.   VoiceOver   VoiceOver will now detect Tabs, double spaces etc.   VoiceOver Utility   Under Speech, you can now choose Eloquence voices, similar to iOS. Also many other voices available for English and Non English voices.   Speaking of Apple WWWDC, Remember Swift Playgrounds for Learning Coding   If you have a Mac or an iPad, you can use Playgrounds (Swift Playgrounds) to learn how to code in a fun way plus in my case, have fun coding a Drone (Tell Edu) or a Robot (Dash) to fly or roll around playing songs and flashing lights.   A Reminder about Audio Description   Continuing on from the excellent job that Apple does in Audio Describing all their Apple Keynotes, I'd like to remind you that there is a lot of content available in Disney, Netflix, Prime Video, and also Apple's own TV Plus that has lots of content that is Audio Described. I'm currently enjoying the Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series in Disney, and Love Death and robots on Netflix. Let us not also forget that Audio Description is still on ABC and SBS digital TV as well. Today on the show, we're overjoyed to be joined by the talented Hossein Amini, writer of 2011's cult smash thriller Drive. Based on the 2004 James Sallis novel of the same name, and directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, Drive told the story of a stuntman by day and getaway driver by night, whose dual lives collide after he strikes up a friendship with his neighbour, Irene (Carey Mulligan). From there, Hossein's screenplay submerged audiences in a dangerous, hyper-stylised LA criminal underworld, strapping viewers into the passenger seat next to a captivatingly unknowable protagonist, simply named the Driver (Ryan Gosling).If you've read the novel, you'll know that Hossein had quite a task taking the lyrical, very interior prose and plot of the book, and turning it into a movie. Luckily, the Iranian-born storyteller is a bit of a master when it comes to adaptation: from 1997's The Wings of the Dove to his 2014 directorial debut The Two Faces of January, Hossein relishes the task of taking a story from page to screen, adding a subtle sprinkle of his personality and past to the recipe along the way.Across an engrossing chat, Hossein explains why Drive is in fact a fairy tale. We talk about what the film expresses about our culture of violence, why an early draft of the film featured the death of Irene, and how his storytelling habits were shaped by a childhood in the shadow of his parent's divorce and the Iranian revolution.
