Can a post-Capitalist socialist Economy exist without numbers? There are those who think it can. In this episode Mitchell, Robin and Antti are joined by accountant Anders Sandström (Author of Anarchist accounting) to discuss the topic of numbers in a socialist economy. And what have been people's reactions to it?Introduction by Noam Chomsky:“Parecomic is a graphic novel about something that affects us all: the system we live in—what's wrong with it, and how we might be able change it for the better. Written by Sean Michael Wilson, and drawn by Carl Thompson, Parecomic is about Michael Albert—the visionary behind “participatory economics”—and his life's struggle as a left-wing activist in the US.”Order the book: https://participatoryeconomy.org/book/parecomic/Sean Michael Wilson Website: https://seanmichaelwilson.weebly.com/parecomic.htmlSean Michael Wilson Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@boychildnew1/videosSupport the Show.Website: https://www.ParticipatoryEconomy.orgYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/ParticipatoryEconomyTwitter: https://twitter.com/pareconomyFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/ParticipatoryEconomySupport Us: https://www.paypal.com/donate/…

Episode 208 of RevolutionZ is me interviewing me - thus the tile, Hounding Myself. As interviewer I can be a bit more aggressive with myself than other interviewers tend to be. It may not be everyone's delight, but I had assembled some questions I would like to be asked and I decided, well, okay, why not ask myself. Some of it is familiar ground for regular listeners, some not. And I have to apologize. Hours ago, when I was editing it, I discovered that somehow there appears an intermittent periodic low level noise, not unlike some weird kind of drum. I don't know what the hell it was but I decided not to scrub the whole thing. Hopefully it won't be overly distracting. Me and Me are rather loud. Also, this episode one is long, almost two hours. How does Participatory Socialism or Participatory Economics fare against the ethical values and economic standards by which we earlier rejected capitalism and market and centrally planned "socialism." Does it deliver equity, diversity, solidarity, self management, sustainability, and classlessness, and even if so, does it have offsetting flaws?Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/revolutionZ)

This week I am delighted to welcome Sean Michael Wilson to the show. Sean Michael Wilson is Scottish comic book writer, who now lives and works in Japan. In the last couple of years, Sean Michael has released a couple of explicitly political graphic novels: 'Parecomic: The Story of Michael Albert and Participatory Economics' 'Fight the Power! A Visual History of Protests Among the English Speaking Peoples' He has also recently wrote a post for the Forbidden Planet Blog on how an anarchy-based economic system would benefit the creation of comics, and all art in general. We discuss the creative process of the comic-book writer, the emergence of the adult comic-book genre, the Walking Dead and it’s Hobbesian view of the world, why Hollywood does not do anarchy, progressive politics in comics, socialism and the world of art, and the need for revolutionary jokes. On this month’s terrifying episode, which may or may not have been recorded in an actual haunted house, we spend the hour with activist and economist Robin Hahnel discussing his book Of the People, By the People: The Case for a Participatory Economy. Robin tells us about the bone-chilling failings of free market capitalism, the spine-tingling reasons why he feels viable alternative economic models need to be part of activist discourse, and the blood-curdling details of how his proposed alternative to capitalism — called Participatory Economics — works in practice. Join us for this mortifying discussion about how humans organize their economic affairs — if you dare!Episode LinksOf the People, By the PeopleRobin Hahnel
