1944 május elején az egész ország hallhatta, ahogy Kiss Ferenc színművész, akit karizmatikus orgánuma miatt a „nemzet hangjaként” ünnepeltek, a magyar rádióban felolvasta Erdélyi József Solymosi Eszter vére című költeményét. Adásunkban a fasiszta emlékezet történetének nyomába eredünk.Vendégünk Kékesi Zoltán kultúrtörténész, akivel e témáról nemrég megjelent, Memory in Hungarian Fascism című könyve kapcsán beszélgetünk. Az adásban említett tudományos művek:Fulbrook, Mary – Willems, Bastiaan – Bird, Stephanie - Rauch, Stefanie (eds.) 2023: Perpetrationand Complicity under Nazism and Beyond. „Bůh a mrtvý? Ne. Znovu se zrodil,“ zakončuje kanadských psycholog svůj takřka šestisetstránkový komentář ke Starému zákonu. Ale kdo to je, ten Petersonův Bůh? Bibliografie Brad East, Jordan Peterson Loves God's Word. So nice of you to agree and come over to our podcast. Thank you very much.Naveen Kishore: Thank you for having me.H: You were interested in theatre initially during your school days and college days. How did it lead to publishing?N: The theatre actually happened at school, everybody does theatre in school, so that was okay, but then I think it was in college that I really tasted blood, as it were, as far as theatre is concerned. But I remember there was a theatre group called the Red Curtain, which was essentially made up of young people from different colleges who had left school, started a theatre group as the school leavers. They started to do amateur theatre, but with great quality, aesthetic, style, production values. When I joined them, I was a backstage person. My first theatre experience was a play called Wait Until Dark, where I used to sit behind a refrigerator with a small cassette recorder. And every time the blind leading lady opened the fridge, I would have to put on the duct to create the sound of the machine and synchronize it with her shutting it. And at one point in this thriller, which was also a good film, this blind woman is trying to smash all the bulbs because she is going to be attacked by these two people. And I have to synchronize the swinging of her sort of stick to the bulbs and simulate a crash in a waste-paper basket with old bulbs and metal brass. This was my first beginning.H: Sounds too complicated.N: It was good fun. You were assisting backstage and then, immediately, you were plunged into the deep end. The next play was Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead by Tom Stoppard. The Red Curtain was a very democratic set up, so they said: You design the sets and light. I knew nothing about it, but the British Council Library was very useful, so I used to go and study lighting-design books. But at that point, I was playing by the rules, where I was lighting your face as an actor at 45 degrees. But I was frustrated because I couldn't achieve darkness, so that was a disaster.I made a mess of it, I think. But for the next play I designed, Ibsen's Ghosts, I think I threw the rule book out of the window and I started to light the air around the actors. In real...

Musikbeispiele in dieser Folge:1, 2: Luis Torres Montejo, El Grupo Nengón del Cauto, “El Nengón”, 100 Sones Cubanos, Vol. 5, J&N Records 2010.3: La Familia Valera Miranda, Danilo Orozco, “Nengón para tí”, Antología integral del son (1983), Virgin Record 1999.4: Azúcar Negra, “La farándula me llama”, Bailar con tacones, Egrem 2013.5, 6: Poncho Sánchez, “Nengón”, Soul of the Conga, Concord Records 2000.7: Los Muñequitos de Matanzas, “Yo también soñé”, Rumba de corazón. 50 aniversario, Bis Music 2002Video-Empfehlungen:“Los 100 sones de Cuba (documental de Edesio Alejandro)”, Youtube: https://youtu.be/SIGGqhHef-E, insb. ab 15:40.“El Son Cubano en Washington, D.C., 1989: Con Compay Segundo”, Youtube: https://youtu.be/FEHSYoI0IJ0, insb. ab 2:20. Today we've got a fun one. First, Rory meets another Yankee legend. Meanwhile, Mal doesn't like nose kisses (or any affection). Speaking of unwanted affection, Rudy Guiliani is a creep. We finally got Trump's mugshot and the memes didn't disappoint. Trackstar Noah Lyles takes shots at the NBA which leads to a disagreement among the team vs. Mal. Staying on American greats, the Navy Seal who killed Osama Bin Laden gets arrested for disorderly conduct. Then Miguel gets suspended during a show. We celebrate the life of tv show legend Bob Barker and Rory asks a question to the team. We discuss the recent music releases Victoria Monet, Russ, and Nicki Minaj being a playable character on Call of Duty. For the rest of the episode we are joined by Giggs. We discuss the cultural similarities and differences of London/New York. We share a classic tour story from the strip club. Giggs shares his favorite up and coming artists and shares his reaction to hearing his name on Jay's verse from “God Did”. We have a fun group of voicemails that leave Giggs astonished. Tune in as the guys discuss all of this + more!

Unser Literaturtipp: Micheal Thomas Clanchy: England and its Rulers, 1066-1307, Oxford 2006. Welcome to the PRmoment Podcast.Today we're reviewing 2022 from the perspective of a PR agency with Warren Johnson, founder of W Communications. W has a fee income of £13m, offices in London New York and Singapore, Edinburgh, Kuala Lumpa, Los Angeles. It employs approximately 160 people globally and 126 in London. If Year in Review Podcasts are your type of thing then do have a listen to our Year in Communications show with Charlotte West, executive director of global corporate communications at Lenovo. Before we start the PRmoment Awards 2023 early entry deadline is on 16th December, check out the awards site PRmomentAwards.com for all the details. If you miss the early deadline the final deadline for The PRmoment Awards is January 27th. Thanks to the PRmoment Podcast sponsors, The PRCA.Here's a summary of what Warren and I discussed:2 mins Despite what's been a pretty tough year for most - PR firms had a pretty decent 2022 didn't they?3 mins Have there “H1 and H2 felt quite different!”“(In H1) there were quite a few spurious pitches, second half we've opted not to pitch”“I'm a cheerleader for the industry. There are some really smart people who work really hard (in PR)...and I don't think you can say that about some of the adjacent marketing services industries.”5 mins Has PR's moment arrived?“Advertising is pretty shit now”“Best idea wins. That suits everyone, including most importantly the client.”“Taylor Herring's Peter Crouch campaign was a content piece that just got bigger and bigger”8 mins Has the dial moved in PR's market share of the CMO's budget?9 mins Warren talks us through the different phases of 2022 for PR agencies“At the beginning of the year there were lots of pitches and not many of them went anywhere.”“Q1 next year could be quite challenging…but hopefully a rosy summer!”“It looks like the government's done a half-decent job in terms of controlling inflation”11 mins When will the agency financial map of 2023 start to unfold - when do you know when it's going to be a good one or a bad one?12.30 mins Are PR firms increasingly starting to compete against in-house teams?13.30 mins How hot is the PR labour market at the moment?“There was clearly a moment of madness where we had some average people being hocked around the industry by recruiters…I'm sure we all made some bad hires at that point out of desperation. I think now things have settled down. It feels like there is equilibrium.”“There has been some mega wage inflation…we've now had time to calibrate that.”“Our wage bill is £500-600K a month, if that jumps 20% - no more Christmas party!”“We've had to have some difficult conversations with clients”21 mins How is the cost of living crisis impacting PR employees?22 mins Warren on Frankie Cory: “We've admired each other from afar.”“I saw her as a kindred spirit…who will hustle as hard as I will”Ben Smith: “So it's tag team to grow W?”Warren Johnson: “Yes” 26 mins Are the independents still having a good time or are the holding groups biting back?“We are taking money off the holding group but not often the PR division”

“Everyone was all for inclusion. There wasn't anybody who felt that this movement for inclusion was anything but good. But there were a lot of worries that in our focus on inclusion that we've turned away from thinking about the teaching of analysis per se - of what goes on with the analyst and the patient, teaching how we work with people, how we think about people. Countertransference can get lost in this way. Even though there is a focus on the countertransference in terms of discrimination, but that is just one factor. So, there was a lot of concern that we could lose interest in development and interest in intrapsychic life."     Episode Description: We begin by referring to Judy's first podcast (#83) where she reported on her interviews with former analysands about the nature of their termination experience. She has continued to rely on personal conversations to learn about the inner life of individuals in her current project of interviewing analysts over age 70 about their life in psychoanalysis. We discuss their generativity, their resilience, their personal difficulties, and their vision for the future of our field. Common to many respondents is their greater comfort in using themselves in their clinical encounters. We discuss the challenge of understanding long-term patients who maintain ongoing contact with their analysts seemingly without plans for termination. We conclude with Judy sharing with us her personal experiences of termination, loss, and her own resiliency and passion for her work.    Our Guest: Judy L. Kantrowitz, Ph.D. is a training and supervising analyst at the Boston Psychoanalytic Institute and formerly a Clinical Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School, now a corresponding member. She is the author of four books, The Patient's Impact on the Analyst (1996); Writing about Patients: responsibilities, risks, and ramifications (2006),  Myths of Termination: What Patients Can Teach Analyst About Endings (2014), and The Role of Patient -Analyst Match in the Process and Outcome of Psychoanalysis (2020). She has served three times on the Editorial of JAPA and won the JAPA paper prize for 2020. She is currently on the board of The Psychoanalytic Quarterly. She is in private practice of psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy in Brookline, MA.      Recommended Readings:    Erikson, Erik H: The Life Cycle Completed. New York & London W.W. In today's episode, co-founders of so she CAN, Celine and Alysa, talk about how different countries all over the world celebrate Christmas, New Years', and other holidays! We believe it's super important to be educated about the world around you and hope that by listening to this episode, you learn new things about how your neighbor across the world celebrates! By learning new information about other cultures and people, we can all become more interconnected and understanding of each other! Thank you so much to so she CAN team members Kalash, Devasya, Nehir, Sobiah, and Quinn for sharing their personal experiences about the holidays in each country! Our writer Serlina said this about the holidays in Indonesia: Thanksgiving in Indonesia isn't celebrated, and not much people are aware of it either, so there's no “thanksgiving spirit” here unfortunately. As for Christmas, most people here celebrate by going to church then continue by doing family gatherings such as lunch/dinner. Christmas in Indonesia is celebrated, however not as big as in other places such as London/New York where there are Christmas trees and decorations everywhere you go since Indonesia is not a Christian-majority country. As far as it goes, there are trees and decorations put up in shopping malls.

MUSIC - ~11 sec – instrumental This week, we feature a Blacksburg, Va., musician’s song that sets the stage for thinking about significant water resources issues.  Have a listen for about 45 more seconds. MUSIC - ~48 sec – Lyrics: Whatcha gonna do when the river runs dry? When there’s no more water in your well? You won’t know when to give it that one last try; You won’t be warned before the final bell. [I'm] takin’ it on the way, takin’ it on the way. Whatcha gonna do when the river runs dry?” You’ve been listening to part of “River Runs Dry,” by Kat Mills, accompanied by Rachel Handman, on the 2003 album “Long Time.”  As noted in a previous Virginia Water Radio episode featuring this music, the river in the song symbolizes the inspirations and sources of creativity on which Ms. Mills depends in her life and work.  But the song’s questions about what to do if the river or well goes dry provide inspiration for considering the challenges of actual water.  For example, water is a factor in three of the top worldwide risks over the next ten years cited in the non-partisan World Economic Forum’s “Global Risks Report” for 2020.  Those three are a water-availability crisis, climate change, and extreme weather. With U.S. national elections fast approaching, this Labor Day week offers a good time to consider some national and global water resources challenges awaiting the next president, Congress, and other federal officials.  If Virginia Water Radio could interview the presidential candidates, here are eight questions we’d ask, generated from various sources. 1. What water bodies should be regulated as part of the Waters of the United States under the federal Clean Water Act? 2. What are your plans for addressing the nation’s water-related infrastructure needs? 3. What should the federal government do regarding groundwater quantity and quality issues around the country? 4. What’s needed for all citizens to have access to adequate, safe drinking water? 5. What are your positions on climate change? And 6. What international water issues concern you? We end this episode with a question for you listeners: how, if at all, does water factor into your voting decisions this fall? Thanks to Kat Mills for permission to use this week’s music, and we close with about 25 more seconds of “River Runs Dry.” MUSIC - ~26 sec – Lyrics: “Whatcha gonna do when the river runs dry? I guess I'll have to pack up and leave my home.” SHIP’S BELL Virginia Water Radio is produced by the Virginia Water Resources Research Center, part of Virginia Tech’s College of Natural Resources and Environment.  For more Virginia water sounds, music, or information, visit us online at virginiawaterradio.org, or call the Water Center at (540) 231-5624.  Thanks to Ben Cosgrove for his version of “Shenandoah” to open and close the show.  In Blacksburg, I’m Alan Raflo, thanking you for listening, and wishing you health, wisdom, and good water. Recorded October 19, 2012 at the Heyman Center for the Humanities, Columbia University. Giacomo Marramao discusses his new book The Passage West: Philosophy After the Age of the Nation State. He will be introduced by Jean L. Cohen and Étienne Balibar. Giacomo Marramao is a Professor of Political and Theoretical Philosophy at the University of Rome III and Director of the Fondazione Basso. His publications also include Kairos: Towards an Ontology of Due Time and La passione del presente. Program: In introducing his argument - which resumes and develops the philosophical analysis of the phenomenon of globalization advanced in his book The Passage West: Philosophy After the Age of the Nation State (Verso, London-New York 2012) - Giacomo Marramao takes the film Babel, by the Mexican director Alejandro Gonzáles Iñárritu, as the point of departure for his discussion: the film depicts the globalized world as a complex space at once interdependent and differentiated in character, constituted like a mosaic, composed of a multiplicity of "asynchronic" ways and forms of life which are brought together by the manifold flux of events that traverse them. This cinematographic depiction perfectly captures the disconcerting bi-logic of globalization: the logic through which the mix of the global market and of digital technologies operating in "real time" generates an increasing diaspora of identities. The Babel of our contemporary world thereby reveals itself as a kind of planetary extension of the world of Kakania described by Robert Musil: a cacophonous compendium of proliferating and mutually untranslatable languages. In order to conceptualize, and produce a suitably fluid and dynamic account of this new "world picture," we must not only dissolve the spurious dilemma between universalism and relativism, but move beyond the current impasse encouraged by a normative political philosophy which tends to reify "cultural identities" and "struggles for recognition" by treating these as givens rather than as problems. The philosophical approach pursued in the following discussion attempts to liberate the concept of "the universal" - despite the etymology of the word - from the logic of the reductio ad unum, and apply it instead to the realm of multiplicity and difference. Developing a double phenomenology of the increasingly homogenising phenomenon of the market on the one hand and of the internally conflicted pandemic of identitarian and communitarian approaches on the other, the author indicates a variety of universalizing tendencies whose potential can only fully be evaluated in the context of a new theory and practice of translation. Marramao's proposal for a universalism of difference is predicated on the failure of the two principal models of "democratic" inclusion that have previously been attempted in the West: the republican or assimilationist model (that of a République founded upon what could be called a universalism of indifference) and the "strong" multiculturalism model (the so-called Londonistan model that derives from a mosaic of differences that also provides fertile ground for the growth of fundamentalist ideas). But to advance beyond the antagonistic complicity generated by this dilemma calls for a re-enchantment of the Political: the only way in which we may be able to read the signa prognostica, the “prognostic signs” of our present.

Since the lows of March of 2009, we have had a major rise in equity and commodity markets. Many pundits in the mainstream media opine that this is the start of a new major bull market and that Keynesian economics have once again triumphed over natural economic laws. For some likely contrary ideas to that mainstream thesis real estate professional and congressional hopeful, Dave Corsi, will be joining me as will London/New-York based hedge fund manager Gijsbert Groenewegen. After Corsi and Groewewegen tell us what they think from their perspectives as fundamental analysts, technical analyst Arch Crawford will join us to tell us what the movements of the planets may be suggesting. We will also be interviewing Australian gold producer, Crocodile Gold Corp and soon to be Texas uranium producer, Uranium Energy Corp.
