Tonight Trevor welcomes Marc "TNT" Stone for his final appearance of the football season and the two recap the NFL season, the big game and look ahead to the offseason and next season, with some way-too-early predictions. Then Trevor talks about the new "BEST OF" section on INHERENTDREAM.COM. To close the show, Trevor's Parting Gift features commentary on why he feels short changed by the big game and while not popular opinion, feels as if that game itself is merely background noise.

Easter is officially over, now what? What happened after Jesus rose from the grave, and what should we be doing now after the celebration of Easter? I find it interesting that we rarely talk about all Jesus did after coming out of that tomb. Why is that? We can't leave Jesus on a cross, we […]

As the song goes, love and marriage go together like a horse and carriage. How about gym and marriage? Just around the corner from Valentine's Day, this week's guests are a couple that's been married for 2 years, both with leadership jobs in popular gym. They offer some wisdom on fitness, faith and marriage on our podcast that I hope you subscribe to! (2:40) JR and Jaime Askew, both personal trainers with higher level jobs with Max Fitness in West Georgia, start off talking about how they met at the gym and fell in love, but not at first. They share a passion for fitness and helping others, but do they work out together? (8:20) They provide some keys to how we can all believe in ourselves and get "motivated" (not their favorite word) to get fit. It's about going deeper with your WHY, not just surface level of how you look but changes you want to make in life. The Askews also talk about common roadblocks that keep people from going to the gym. (12:00) And they agree, there are a lot of parallels between fitness and faith journeys. We can fall off on both, but hopefully the Holy Spirit's conviction doesn't send us further away...but knowing we are washed new often. One of Jaime's life mantras is "Chase God." She explains. 6 weeks into the new year, (17:51) some people may not be as pumped to go the gym as they were on January 1, but their take: it's never too late to start, and hopefully in a judgment-free fitness facility. They discuss helping others with workouts...overcoming fears...challenging yourself...and the benefits of hiring a personal trainer. The benefits of workouts are increasing physical and mental strength. (27:15) And can exercise help with your financial health and time management? (32:14) Losing weight is a goal for a lot of people, and food is said to be 50-80% of the battle, since "you can't outwork a bad diet." JR and Jaime discuss nutrition success and the differences between men and women. (37:35) They also share some things they've learned about marriage. One key word: compromise. And they set all kinds of goals - together. We close out with (43:26) a discussion on not caring about what other people think! Ordinary people can do special things, in the Bible and now. But who defines what's extraordinary? Some may build their life on a foundation of sand (like seeking approval of others), while ignoring outside opinions brings freedom. It took a long time for Jaime to learn that, opening up about how that's partly because she lost her dad before she was a teenager. I close out with a "Parting Gift" - reminding you how the Word inspired the name of this podcast - then a prayer. Thanks for listening to the #RunTheRace podcast! Bandcamp - SpotifyOn this episode of the Dance Cry Dance Break, “A Parting Gift,” written by James M. Maskell, inspired by Everybody Loves Christmas, the song by Seattle artist and producer Nat Bayne. James M. Maskell has taught high school English for over twenty years and writes poetry, flash, and a bit of humor in the early mornings before heading off to class. His poetry has been featured in Loud Coffee Press; he is a regular contributor to Friday Flash Fiction; and his first non-fiction work is forthcoming in Windmill: The Hofstra Journal of Art and Literature. He lives in Massachusetts with his wife, and is thankfully just a short drive from each of his three adult children.WebsiteA Parting GiftBy James M. Maskell It wasn't until after she decided not to decorate that Mary found the package tucked away in the closet one Friday morning in December. Its blue and green plaid giftwrap blended seamlessly into the folded stack of flannel bed sheets and she thought she may have even seen it before without realizing. Silver and white ribbon crossed impressively tight over the top of the box—something she'd insisted on for years—but the bulky, irregular folds under the taped edges were unmistakably his. It was the one thing he'd left behind after walking out last month without an explanation. “It's just not working out” he'd told her, his things already packed in the car when she'd arrived home from work. Last week a friend said she saw him out with a woman she had met once or twice, Katie or Kaitlyn, or something like that, and Mary wondered for how long that had been going on. She thought about the package her whole way to the office as the first snow of the season drifted down, thought about it through her morning coffee and into the staff meeting where management reminded everyone about the upcoming holiday party. Small decorations had begun to show up in cubicles since Thanksgiving, and now the more aggressive office-wide celebration was taking shape: garland hung over doorways; potted poinsettias on desks and countertops; a plastic menorah on the table by the watercooler; and of course, the horribly misshapen four-foot artificial tree in the corner, its cheap ornaments with their tattered satin threads revealing the Styrofoam core beneath. Of course, nothing could be tackier than the mistletoe someone hung over the copy machine. She suspected it was Derek, the office creep, but found out later it was actually Janice, the jovial assistant manager whose inappropriate office banter fell just under the radar of the general public. And yet, despite the poorly executed holiday displays at work, and the newly discovered gift left behind by the man she thought she'd eventually marry, the season still managed to hold for her a certain charm. Mary had loved everything about Christmastime as a child. Department stores transformed into shining lands of red, green, and silver. All through the neighborhood, ladders leaned against the gables and gutters of capes and split-level ranches as children fed strings of lights up to their fathers, untangling the lines one kink at a time and working desperately to finish the job before the first snowfall. And the music... Perry Como, Brenda Lee, Sinatra, Nat King Cole, and Mary's absolute favorite, the angelic and haunting “Carol of the Bells.” God, how she loved the music. What she adored most was the enchanting conversion that took place inside her childhood home. Her mother wrapped and ribboned the picture frames so imaginary presents hung from the walls. A wooden manger replaced the clock over the fireplace, as monogrammed stockings spread outward across the mantle, Mom's and Dad's on the left, hers and her brother Joey's on the right. And then, once Dad had set the tree in its stand and strung it full of lights, the four of them trimmed it with ornaments and silver tinsel, as the fragrant Douglas fir became the centerpiece of their home. Wrapped presents appeared beneath it, quietly, one at a time, over the next few weeks. But, with each passing year, Christmas shed just a bit of its magic. The strains of suburban life emerged as Dad's hours were cut and money grew scarce. Their tightening budget grew more noticeable as Christmas drew near. Her family maintained their holiday routines as best they could, but over time those traditions became little more than habits, as though they were merely checking off boxes with each decoration. Joey moved out three years before her and, after she graduated college and left for the city, her parents quietly divorced, sold the house, and moved on to their own lives. Mary brought a few of her favorite childhood ornaments with her when she and her boyfriend moved in together, and the past two Christmases, while quiet, were intimate and lovely, echoing many of the sights and sounds she'd adored as a child. Now she was alone and didn't see the point of a Christmas that couldn't be shared. When five o'clock finally rolled around at the office that day, Mary rushed home even more urgently than usual, ridding herself of the fraudulent workplace cheer. She got off the train a few stops early, the package once more consuming her mind. The snow, beautiful that morning, had melted mostly, leaving scant patches on the grass and gray, slushy clumps by the side of the road. Why buy me a gift if he was planning to leave? she wondered as she walked the damp and dreary path home. When she reached her building, the young couple from the second floor were coming out just as she was going in. The girl held the door for a moment and Mary offered a smile of recognition, but they were too busy smiling at each other to notice or even care. Inside her bare apartment, the package—the lone suggestion of the holiday season—sat on the coffee table where Mary had left it that morning. She suddenly felt a longing for Christmas that she hadn't felt since she was a child. Pulling off her hat and coat, and getting right to work, Mary dragged her decorations out of the storage bin, assessing what she had and what else she'd need to make Christmas whole for her again. The next morning, she shopped store after store and eventually the tree lot down the street to buy a sensibly sized but grossly overpriced Douglas fir, so she could catch that whiff of childhood once more. With a pot of wassail simmering on the stovetop, and her favorite Christmas movies on the television, she began to transform her apartment, laughing along first with Ralphie and then Buddy the Elf. When she hung the final ornament and placed the lone gift in the apartment under the tree, she curled up on the sofa with a mug of the steaming hot cider drink and shed a few tears with the ever-charming George Bailey. “I'll open you Christmas morning,” she said to the package before turning in for the night, and thought, I'll enjoy that gift... even if he didn't want me to. Mary worked hard to relish the season as Christmas approached, joining in on the silly festivities at work, listening to a holiday playlist during her commute, continuing to smile at that happy young couple when they passed on the stairs, letting her tree be the only light in the room each evening. But she couldn't ignore the fact that she was still alone. On Christmas morning she rose, excited to open her gift. Sipping her coffee, she stared at the package for close to thirty minutes before finally picking it up and tugging the ribbon off the corner, letting it drop to the floor. She paused once more and then slid her nail under the corner of the seam, separating the tape without tearing the paper and revealing the matte black jewelry box beneath. “Hmm... a necklace?” she wondered. And then with a laugh, “I hope it's real gold, at least.” She opened the box and got her wish, a lovely, fourteen carat gold chain with an ornately scripted pendant in the shape of the letter K. “K...” she read, searching for the connection. “Katie... Kaitlyn... whoever she is. Of course,” she said, discovering the answer to her question of how long that had been going on. Her throat tightened, but before a single tear could form in the corner of her eye, she imagined a Christmas morning somewhere across town where he was fumbling for words, trying to explain an M-shaped pendant to a woman she didn't know.Everybody Loves Christmas was written and performed by Nat Bayne and produced by Chaz Mazzota.“Another Christmas” was written by James M. Though the use of human bodies for anatomical study has been the cornerstone of medical training for over 400 years, precious few Irish people will decide to donate their own in 2022. What is the process, what are the benefits and what puts people off signing up for the scheme? Sarah Madden reports.

Full Text: The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality is accepting public comments on proposed regulations that would ban the sale of new gasoline or diesel-powered cars and light trucks after 2034. The only new cars available would be electric vehicles (EVs). These regulations were first adopted by the state of California on August 25. Now Kate Brown wants Oregonians to live under them as well. There are many flaws in the proposed rules. First, the average cost of an EV last year was $66,000. Most people won't be able to afford one. Second, EVs need regular charging. The Oregon charging network barely exists, especially for apartment dwellers. This will make EVs inconvenient for most drivers. Third, the primary reason for the regulation is to reduce “greenhouse gases” in Oregon, but the commercial electricity grid is powered mostly by fossil fuels and will be for decades. Shifting from internal combustion engines to electric motors will simply move vehicle-related emissions from cities to the countryside. The rules will also prove to be unenforceable. While the government can require manufacturers to offer EVs for sale, it cannot force consumers to buy them. Traditional cars will continue to be available, either as used vehicles sold in Oregon, or new vehicles purchased by Oregonians from another state. This proposal, which DEQ plans to adopt in December, is now being circulated for public comment. Voters should express their concerns to DEQ by email at the following address: Levzev2022@deq.oregon.gov. Comments will be accepted until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/coffeewithcascade/message
This 86-year-old (who turns 87 in December) just retired from doing triathlons after 130 races! He happens to be my uncle from Houston TX, and Jim Rosborough is this week's guest on the "Run The Race" podcast. He competed in the World Championships Triathlon in both Chicago and Cozumel. Later this week, don't miss my Friday podcast episode, recapping my latest marathon ran, in my 20th state. (3:01) We first talked about how Jim stays in great shape for his age, being in his 80s. He talks about the consistent training - running, swimming, and/or biking - he's done since the 1970's. Where and how does he find his motivation to just do it? He tells the story of how he (7:01) started running at age 35, thanks to a book about aerobics by an Air Force doctor. Fitness felt good to him! He moved on to marathons, running more than 25 of those, and enjoying the social aspects of running. (10:20) Tired of running so much? He was, and that was part of Uncle Jim's transition to triathlons. He breaks down the 3 distances: Ironman, half ironman, and Sprint. His favorite of the triathlon events is swimming, especially being in the water so much growing up in Aruba, where he also was a spear fisherman. But why retire now from triathlons? We also talk about (16:28) his training routine or weekly exercise rituals. Jim also discusses being mentally strong, through not only fitness challenges but surviving cancer. (22:08) Sharing the fitness journey with his wife is vital too. And he's got fans, including a standing ovation at the Triathlon Nationals. When he's now in the pool or on a bike, (26:05) my Uncle Jim mentors young boys, a rewarding thing he wish he had as a young man overseas. He did have an influential coach in Aruba. (33:50) He closes out the pod chat with a few favorite race stories like his rivalry with another 80-something competitor Boris at the World Championship, and missing a big turn at his final triathlon. After, i do some triathlon talk in "Food for Thought," some unique inspiration in "Parting Gift," and my closing prayer. Thanks for listening to the #RunTheRace podcast, which you should subscribe to! Share it with your friends. Also, write a quick review about it, on Apple podcasts. You need to hear this powerful story from a man who lost his wife to suicide more than a decade ago, a day that still haunts him. He now is spreading kindness and his passion for cycling around Georgia and beyond. He also finds symbolism for life in the extreme sports he jumps into. make sure to subscribe to the "Run The Race" podcast. (4:15) Bike shop owner Jason McKenzie - who's been in charge of "Ride on Bikes" in Columbus GA since 2009 - is a motivated man. In fact, right now, he's in the middle of the "75 Hard" challenge, so here's what he's doing daily until mid-November: https://andyfrisella.com/pages/75hard-info. We talk about that and how he wakes up at 5am to work out and finds balance as a busy business owner. (9:31) Jason tells his love story with Natalie. Earlier this week would've been their 12th wedding anniversary, then (13:25) he is vulnerable in talking about her taking her own life nearly 11 years ago...from his last encounter with her...to a frantic car ride back home...to being a suspect....and coping with the loss a decade later. Jason know he can't go back and fix it, be wants to do better now. (23:08) After his wife's suicide, Jason was mad at God, couldn't be in church anymore, but had an important chat with a pastor who gave him permission to go to God in anger. This bike shop owner says we need to be more open about suicide, forgive ourselves, and be kind to others! That's his main message in a viral video he put out, telling the story of his tragic loss: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQh27SVzDVI. Jason tells an inspiring story for the first time about a friend and business party that stole a lot of money from him, then how a fight turned into a hug, thanks to a vision involved his wife who was gone. It's about giving grace to yourself and others, a Christian principle. (32:08) His love for dirt bikes started at an early age, and since then, he's added skydiving, motorcycles, flying planes, motorbike races. He said the key to these extreme sports is you have to be ALL IN or it's dangerous, so in the now and hyper focused you're not thinking about anything else. Jason, who now realizes depression is real, also talks about how exercise can improve your mental health. His true passion is helping people with their cycling needs, whether they're new on a bike or very experienced. And there are a lot of different kinds of bikes. His shop rents, sells, services them. (41:40) Serving the community is also a priority, as Jason gives a lot to charity and builds special needs bikes. They see the bike shop as a vehicle for changing lives. (47:01) Speaking of sports, Jason ran his first full ironman in 2015, thanks to losing a bet. He argues anyone can do an Ironman, if it's an important enough goal to you. (51:41) Our chat closes with what you can do to help prevent suicides, because he had no warning with Natalie, Jason, who's now on the board for "Love Like Lexi" in East Alabama, says we all have negative thoughts and we all need to work on ourselves. (59:21) "Food for Thought" is about the health benefits of cycling. My "Parting Gift" is a lesson on kindness from the Bible, then my closing Prayer. Thanks for listening to the #RunTheRace podcast! College football season is here! And a couple who works on the campus of the reigning national champions, the University of Georgia, join me on the “Run The Race” podcast – which if you're not subscribed to, what are you waiting for? This husband and wife also went viral several years ago, with haters helping them gain some fame on national TV. (2:27) Chris and Ashley Reed, who met at Columbus State University, are both on staff at Chi Alpha campus ministry at UGA – that is Greek, by the way, for “Christ ambassadors.” They give us a quick take of what the national organization is all about, essentially helping students find their faith and community. (5:11) People may also know this couple from a selfie picture at a cousin's wedding in 2015, while they were dating, that a friend also shared on social media, getting 1.4 million views overnight and half a million comments – a lot of mean ones about the “mismatched couple” and Chris being overweight and rumors about disability because he was making a funny face. She responded to the haters in a new post online, which also got tons of views. All of this got them on CNN and Good Morning America, where they had an opportunity to share their faith and forgive the people who made mean comments, like Jesus would. They both feel like they've been called (13:55) to do ministry on UGA's campus, where there are 30+ faith-based groups for 45,000 students. It's been a step of faith for Chris and Ashley…but they know what it's like to be scared going to college, party temptations, facing newfound freedom vs. Christian “rules” so they want to make following God cool - from scavenger hunts to trivia to Georgia traditions. The Bible also talks about the early church doing life together! (24:01) Go Dawgs! As the reigning NCAA football champs, can football be a platform for sharing faith and getting more exposure for groups like Chi Alpha? This couple describes how they also get attention through giving out lots of free stuff and “tabling” random questions, which also causes some backlash and rejection. (29:55) Married almost 6 years, Chris and Ashley are open about balancing their marriage with ministry and working together. They also get to model love for each other – and Jesus – for today's college students who may be looking for Mr/Mrs. Right. (35:25) A sense of humor is also what the opposite sex is looking for. These too laugh at each other and at life, even when it gets hard. Gotta have fun! Finally, we discussed (40:20) if things are back to “normal” now on campus. Ashley moved to Athens and started working at UGA just 2 weeks before the COVID pandemic hit. They also raise their own money as missionaries on this Georgia campus, saying God provides! If you'd like to help them, go to: https://www.globalstudentinc.com/reed?fbclid=IwAR3PwJWatxgicmlORXlHVhASG6B3tXmkK6HqbPHO6tp4HGqqTiwfWTuDaAg. Chris and Ashley closed the episode in prayer, followed by my “Parting Gift” from the Bible. Thanks for listening to the #RunTheRace podcast! Also, write a quick review about it, on Apple podcasts. We met as teammates on a more-than-year-long virtual running challenge during the COVID pandemic. Before than, Chris Short lost 125 pounds in 9 months. Just recently, he completed the epic challenge of running 8 marathons in 8 days, or 212 miles for a cause bigger than himself. He's my guest this week on the "Run The Race" podcast, which hopefully you'll want to subscribe to. (2:10) Chris Short of PA, over the summer, did an 8-day segment in the MS Run the US Relay, which is overall is 3200 miles across America. He and 19 other runners have already raised $200,000 for people affected by multiple sclerosis. Why do this epic running challenge? Hear his answer, plus a breakdown of that challenging week, being injured at times, running past huge Iowa cornfields. Chris also talks about sleep, food, crew in RV during that relay. (20:48) Running has brought him transformation, which includes losing 125 pounds , a team effort with his wife to be disciplined with food and exercise. As he ran more, a nutritionist even told him to eat more! Gotta fuel properly, it's not just about the number on the scale. (28:38) Why does Chris run so much and how does he keep his passion for it? Here's part of how he describes it: ubplugging, solving problems while running, a mental reset, and burning off energy. He also has advice for you: when Motivation fails, that's when Discipline comes in. (33:34) Chris and I were also on a virtual relay team together in 2020-2021 for the Circumpolar Race Around the World (CRAW). Together, we completed 31,000 miles of running/walking or 50,000 km in 16 months! Chris was tops on our team with 4600 miles - that's 9+ miles a day during those nearly 500 days. He also has a (40:20) bond with his wife Melody through running, which gives them time together, unique goals, traveling. Chris finally got a BQ and ran the Boston Marathon this year, which he calls a "tricky race." (47:20) This avid runner also has some very sound advice for when the going gets tough, and staying positive to push through. He says break challenges into chunks...keep trying to do the right things daily...don't get overwhelmed...and celebrate victories. (52:22) This week's "Parting Gift" is an inspiring quote from an MS patient, then my closing Prayer. Thanks for listening to the #RunTheRace podcast! We have our youngest guest ever on the "Run The Race" podcast, which you really should subscribe to, for chats like this one with a young baseball star who's learning to put God first in his life while also learning from failure. (2:08) 19-year-old Columbus Chatt-A-Hoots (collegiate summer team in GA) 1st baseman and catcher Conner O'Neal is talking about how he keeps his competitive passion for the game of baseball. He's also focusing more on nutrition, sleep, building muscle to hit more homers - like the one he hit earlier this week when he was a triple short of the cycle. He has meditation/prayer before every game, to help give him peace in front of thousands of fans. (8:44) His superstitions include drawing a cross in the dirt before every at bat. Now, the team is playing for a ring, hosting a postseason game tonight (Friday July 29) at Golden Park in Columbus GA. (11:46) We also talk about the World Series champs Atlanta Braves, where his other brother played with their AA team, (13:43) As for fitness and nutrition, Conner has 4-5 meals a day,but what and when is he eating? You might be surprised. And the intense workouts are only when it's not a game day. (16:49) He also is focused on being spiritually fit, his family reminding him that his value does not come from baseball, but from the Lord - who doesn't promise an easy life. Facing temptations and other parts of life, Conner prays "let your light shine through me." Hoots teammates also open up to each other, pray together. (23:01) How does he handle adversity? This longtime catcher got a broken thumb while playing for GA State, but has since switched to 1B. (26:48) Conner talks about his favorite things to do in baseball, unique celebrations on the bases, amazing fans, what it's like signing autographs for fans. (29:29) Could he make the major leagues? And how could that dream become reality? Plan B is still in baseball, but as a coach. This almost-20-year-old also has a message for parents about kids enjoying sports like baseball. After a baseball-themed "Parting Gift" motivational quote, I close out in prayer. Thanks for listening to the #RunTheRace podcast! Share it with your friends. After he spent a decade in prison as an addict, drug dealer and gang member, this man went on to own a few businesses, but now is answering God's call to go into full-time ministry. (3:01) Blake Russell is the guest this week on the "Run The Race" podcast, which you should definitely subscribe to! He talks about that transition from steady work in the secular world to the unknown of doing what God wants and where He wants, giving scriptures about why. At nearly 40 years old, he's waiting on God to instruct him. Blake opens up about swallowing pride of not having to be the breadwinner, seeing has job now as "Hear from God on behalf of my family." Blake almost had the chance (14:29) to play Major League Baseball, but drugs steered him off the path, which started as peer pressure at age 13, the drug abuse only growing then landing in jail and prison. (23:52) What changed for this drug dealer - who was too thin and a shame to his family and full of gang tattoos? New rules at a stricter prison, and tears while watching a movie about Jesus, helped give him what he was looking for: Hope. What gave him faith and what did he ask God? How was that transformation different behind bars vs. the outside world? (32:52) We talk about who Jesus is, an outside who hung out with different people, showing everybody belongs. Blake's past also opens doors to share the Gospel with inmates, criminals. people on the street, (40:00) Fitness is also part of our testimony, he says so God can use us a long time, and so we're around for our family; gotta be fit for street ministry too. This former personal trainer preaches strength training with weights, but leans more towards cardio and running now. (46:52) He and his wife Krista also so ministry together, in person and on social media and YouTube videos. Their love story started as HS sweethearts, then a 13 year gap (he was in prison much of that). then the Lord brought them back together. And God restores! Blake calls it the goodness of God, who built back all that Blake had torn down. (55:35) My "Parting Gift" is a Bible verse about remembering God's faithfulness, then Krista Klumpp Russell has our closing Prayer. Thanks for listening to the #RunTheRace podcast! Easter is like the "Super Bowl" for churches, with the most attendance, but what happens after the holiday for churchgoers and others? For this podcast - which you need to subscribe to - I talked to a lead Pastor in Georgia about that, transitioning from small biz owner to the ministry, pastoring during the pandemic, plus he also explains gifts like speaking in tongues and the baptism in the Holy Spirit. (5:33) Pentecostal Pastor Paul Thomas, of Evangel Church in Columbus, says the focus is on excellence in services every week, not just Easter, as he discusses the importance of connections...after the holiday. (9:48) He also says Restoration is a vital post-Easter message, with the story of Peter from John 21. we all fall short! Food can also be away to bring people back together. He tells the story of (14:03) being saved at 8 years old, but straying from the Lord, eventually becoming a small business owner - building fences. He talks about learning true integrity from his boss (and father-in-law) when Paul came to work hung over. What is integrity? (20:55) This now-pastor also talks about how faith applies to our everyday lives and jobs, the importance of being authentic. As for his job, he describes how and why he started doing business work for a church then becoming a lead pastor, crying and overwhelmed in his first day on that job. (27:11) What did churches learn from the coronavirus pandemic? He talks about small groups, isolation, reaching out to the lost including those hurt by church. Nearly 35 years into his marriage, (34:53) Pastor Paul breaks down the order of priorities to successfully balance family and work and ministry. (38:28) And he didn't grow up in a Pentecostal church, but Pastor Paul breaks down the truth and misconceptions of Speaking in Tongues, how the Assemblies of God got started, (43:35) the Baptism in the Holy Spirit that anyone can experience, like he did alone in his kitchen. He says, "We don't seek gifts, we seek Jesus." Are we tapping in enough to the power of the Holy Spirit? (54:00) "Food or Thought" tackles a gut check for Christians post-Easter, a "Parting Gift" from a famous pastor about restoration, and the closing prayer is from local Youth Pastor Max Samples. He's one of the most famous competitors on one of the most popular TV shows of all time, SURVIVOR. Season 3 winner - in Africa - Ethan Zohn joins me on the "Run The Race" podcast to talk about being on that reality TV show 3 times, beating cancer twice with the help of fitness, helping kids worldwide through soccer, and how cannabis can help with overall wellness. (4:26) Ethan is also about to run the Boston Marathon - on Monday, April 18, to celebrate being in remission from cancer for 10 years! For that race, he's working with companies to promote cannibas and being active to fight cancer. He also talks about last running Boston in 2013 when the terrorist bombing happening, and being pulled 2 miles before the finish line. What was it like for (9:01) this former pro soccer player to be diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer in his mid 30's? It was ups and downs - with support from others too - then there's the fear of cancer coming back. (11:36) Fitness also played a big role in his cancer fight, and now he uses sports and his fame to deliver important health messages, including erasing the stigma on alleged "gateway drug" cannibas. (15:14) Ethan takes us through how he was picked to be in Survivor: Africa in 2001, thanks to an audition on VHS tape. He calls it a "game of relationships...and networking" that tens of millions of people watch. He also talks about how the game on TV has changed like with social media, how he went back for season 40, and how he lost 30 pounds in 35 days while on Survivor. This athlete (21:31), after experiences playing soccer in Zimbabwe and playing with HIV+ kids in Africa while on the show Survivor, also co-founded "Grassroots Soccer." We close our chat with his final preps for the Boston Marathon and I ask if he'll ever play "Survivor" again. (36:36) I also give a recap of my experience at GO!
