Join them as they talk about common podcast advice and why it can be bad advice for podcasters. KEY TAKEAWAYS “Don’t edit your show” This is bad advice; raw audio is not better. Don’t confuse authenticity with unfinished and unprofessional. “Just be consistent and your podcast will grow” Consistency is very important, but it has to be combined with other actions such as promoting and guesting on other shows. “Build it and they will come, you don’t need marketing just great content” If you have the right content and brilliant production, this can be the case on platforms such as YouTube, but good content alone isn’t enough. “Niche down as much as possible” Most people start to broad and need to niche down, which is why this advice is given, but it’s important to not niche for the sake of it or niche too much and alienate potential audiences. “You just need good guests” Good guests aren’t the only thing that will help your show or help you grow. You still need good production and promotion. You can also grow without good guests. “You must stick to strict format” Having a recognisable format is important, tying into consistency, but you don’t have to be super strict. “The more you post the quicker you grow” Quality over quantity! "You need the best equipment to succeed" Not true, there are some essentials, but they don't have to cost a lot. "SEO and keywords don't matter for podcasts" They absolutely do matter for discoverability. BEST MOMENTS “There’s two types of podcasting marketing, growth marketing and retention marketing” “Generally just really good content is a form of retention marketing” “The show seems to do really well when I’m active on LinkedIn” “Don’t niche for the sake of niching, niche because it makes sense” “A great guest is someone who has a loyal fanbase and talks about things they haven’t really talked about before but that alone won’t help you grow” VALUABLE RESOURCES Website EPISODES TO CHECK OUT NEXT https://omny.fm/shows/the-podcaster-s-podcast/how-to-launch-a-number-1-podcast-part-1 https://omny.fm/shows/the-podcaster-s-podcast/046-how-to-launch-a-number-1-podcast-part-2 Comparing Podcast Production Options | using AI? In this episode of Barely Adulting, Annie and Cheyenne dive into the best and worst advice they've ever heard—some inspiring, some downright ridiculous. They call out the classic “just believe and you won't be stressed” nonsense and debate the fine line between discipline and forcing yourself to stick with something just because. From high school myths about grades determining your entire future (spoiler: they don't) to the unrealistic dream Pinterest boards we all made, they keep it real about life expectations vs. reality. They also react to a spicy Reddit thread, roasting advice like “time heals everything” and “do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life” (tell that to rent). But it's not all bad—there's wisdom too, like embracing change, not overthinking what people think of you (they're too busy worrying about themselves), and the underrated truth that discipline is freedom. They also unpack the unsolicited “relationship wisdom” that should've been left in the drafts. Tune in for laughs, some hard truths, and a reminder that not all advice is worth taking.

In the episode "Worst Advice Ever Given? - Ep 542" of Behind The Bunker Podcast, the hosts explored some of the most misguided, humorous, and downright terrible advice they've encountered in the paintball community. Right from the start, the episode struck a balance between entertainment and education as the hosts shared their own experiences with bad advice and debunked myths that often circulate among newer players. As the conversation unfolded, the hosts delved into specific examples of bad advice they've heard over the years. They touched on common misconceptions like "paintball doesn't hurt, just wear a t-shirt," and the idea that "you should always shoot as much paint as possible" without any strategic thought. These anecdotes not only served as a source of laughter but also highlighted the importance of understanding the game and not relying on oversimplified or misguided tactics. The hosts also discussed the detrimental effects of poor advice on players' performance and safety. They shared stories about players who, due to bad advice, neglected proper safety gear or entered games with a reckless attitude. The conversation shifted to how critical it is for experienced players to mentor newcomers with the right information, focusing on safety, strategy, and respect for others on the field. Misguided tips could lead to frustration or injury, making it crucial to offer sound guidance. In addition to safety, the episode addressed strategic mistakes that are often passed off as advice. The hosts discussed how advice like "just rush in, it's more fun" without a plan can lead to poor gameplay, frustration, and quick eliminations. They advocated for more thoughtful approaches, encouraging players to balance aggression with awareness, communicate with their team, and develop a game plan based on the situation. In conclusion, "Worst Advice Ever Given? - Ep 542" offered a humorous yet educational reflection on the bad advice that circulates within the paintball community. The hosts made it clear that while some of these misguided tips might be funny in retrospect, they can negatively affect gameplay and safety if taken seriously. By sharing their own experiences and offering corrections, the episode provided valuable insights for both new and experienced players, emphasizing the importance of seeking out reliable advice and learning from seasoned players.

This episode is your reminder to put your blinders on, stay focused through the ups and downs, and to think long-term about building your business!

I am like you, in that most of us have playlists of music we like to listen to. It has dawned on me as I have gotten older how many of these songs I have loved contain stupid life advice. There is some good, but it is very rare. The song Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd is a beautiful song, but, there is a line in that song that is some of the worst advice you could be given. On the other hand, there is one song by John Mellencamp that actually gives some great advice, and a song by U2 that contains some of the worst advice, wrapped in a beautiful package. Let's examine them against the Word of God. What does God's Word say? Psalm 98:1-3 A psalm.1 Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things;his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him.2 The Lord has made his salvation known and revealed his righteousness to the nations.3 He has remembered his love and his faithfulness to Israel;all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.Episode 1,585 Links:Lynyrd Skynyrd, Simple Man The Beatles, Let It BeU2-One John Mellencamp, Your Life Is Now 4Patriots https://4Patriots.com/Todd Stay connected when the power goes out and get free shipping on orders over $97.
