Debuted May 10, 1997. Collette Reardon was a disheveled middle-aged woman who appeared to be significantly impaired by some drug or mixture of drugs. In the first two sketches, she would show up in a pharmacy with a stack of numerous prescriptions for unbelievably large supplies and large doses of an assortment of drugs, most of which were notorious for being addictive. Some of the prescriptions would be for clearly recreational drugs, such as peyote buttons, that would not be available in a pharmacy. The pharmacist (played by the guest host of the episode) was naturally skeptical of the legitimacy of the prescriptions. Subsequently, she appeared on Weekend Update as an "expert" and in situations where her impairment was particularly inappropriate. During the course of some of her appearances, it was mentioned that Collette drove a school bus for a living. Appearances: May 10, 1997: Host John Goodman as the skeptical pharmacist. Oct. 18, 1997: Host Brendan Fraser as the skeptical pharmacist. Nov. 14, 1998: Host Joan Allen. In this installment, Collette appears as a pharmaceutics "expert" on Weekend Update. Apr. 10, 1999: Host John Goodman. Collette again shares her expertise on Weekend Update. Nov. 6, 1999: Host Dylan McDermott. Collette is visited by a telephone repairman (McDermott) at her home. Mar. 11, 2000: Host Joshua Jackson. Collette embarrasses her nephew (Jackson) when she visits him at his school. Hank Rutherford Hill (born April 15,[1] age 41[2]) is the protagonist of King of the Hill. Hank has a central role in most story lines, along with his family (wife Peggy, son Bobby and niece by marriage Luanne). Hank's voice is provided by series co-creator Mike Judge. He expresses a fascination for of propane, knowing every intricate detail. Hank is known to threaten people who have angered him with saying, "I'm gonna kick your ass."
Austin is considering selling his Rydel franchise location, citing the need for more dedicated coaching and oversight as the franchise group has grown to 26 locations. He has identified two key motivators: 1) his own personal development and ability to have a greater impact on the franchise group, and 2) the strong performance of his current production and sales managers, Mark and Gabe, who have helped grow the location but are now ready to take on more. The group discusses the importance of having a strong internal coaching function within franchise organizations, drawing examples from successful chains like McDonald's, Chick-fil-A, and In-N-Out Burger. They note that this is a key area of focus for the Rydel franchise group as it continues to scale. Amer raises the idea of Contracting.com potentially offering bookkeeping services as an add-on for their customers. John provides insights on the bookkeeping services industry, noting the potential benefits but also cautioning about the high costs and maintenance required to build an in-house solution versus partnering with an existing provider. John discusses the value he has gained from participating in a local business networking group, including generating referrals, making connections, and learning from other business owners. He emphasizes the importance of being in a group where you are not necessarily the most experienced, in order to continue learning and growing. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/theweeklycall/support

Austin faced a challenge related to his podcast and was required to answer two out of three questions, but could only manage to answer one due to potential hacking. John and Amer participated in the discussion, which included issues regarding system access and the consequences of copyright violations. A humorous discussion about the "Bridge of Death" scene from Monty Python's "Quest for the Holy Grail" ensued, with Rydel and John taking turns answering the questions posed by the bridgekeeper. The conversation also involved a light-hearted discussion between Amer and Austin, reminiscent of a Monty Python sketch, where they posed various questions to each other. John noted that this was similar to a recent experience with Austin. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/theweeklycall/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/theweeklycall/support

Join Leo and me as we journey into the realm of Black Mirror, analyzing the societal implications of the Netflix series and its portrayal of our obsession with social media. We unpack the episode "Nosedive", examining its depiction of influencers, the burden and blessings of their platforms, and whether the show is a critique or an exaggeration of modern society. Listen as we share our insights into the role of recurring actors, and discuss the performance of Latisha Roy in "Black Museum", and how it propels the conversation about technology's impact on marginalized communities. Leo Rydel from Geekly Goods joins the Vodka Stream tonight to talk shop and the news of the week. There will definitely be a lot of Batgirl, Warner Bros. Discovery, and DCEU talk on this one.
In Chapter Seven, somehow thirteen year old me manages to cover five whole months of Ellanora and Oliver feuding without mentioning anything relevant--that is until Ellanora discovers the shocking truth about Rydel (and by shocking I mean a half eaten Cheeto could have seen it coming).
In Chapter Four, Oliver proves himself to be a real garbage human by leading Ellanora on about the Halloween dance and then asking Rydel instead. Ellanora continues to pine over him though he has been shown to have approximately zero redeeming qualities. While shopping for the dance at a consignment shop, Ellanora is shown some kindness by the punk cashier, Harriet.
In Chapter Three, Ellanora the insufferable drama queen encourages Oliver to ask out Rydel and then subsequently gets upset when he follows her advice. Thirteen-year-old me manages to cover an entire day in the span of six pages while still presenting absolutely no important information (which is almost impressive).
In Chapter Two, Ellanora is reeling from instant crush her best friend Oliver develops on the new girl next door, Rydel, because she has (ambiguously) always liked him too. The group spends like three pages talking about going roller skating. Ellanora writes down all of her romantic woes in letters addressed to her dead dad which she hides in the woods for some reason.

How can you charge premium pricing even when you are functioning in a commoditized market? On today’s show, we interview Adel Jawhary, Owner and CEO of Rydel Roofing who shares with us his distilled wisdom on pricing, sales, and growth. Adel and his team managed to rapidly scale up Rydel Roofing from 0 to $10 million in six years flat. But once they hit this sales mark, Adel realized why it was futile to function as a revenue-focused company. As quality issues and cash flow problems cropped up, Adel and his team decided to pivot and focus solely on high-margin, low-maintenance projects. Cutting back revenues by 35% allowed Rydel Roofing to shave their overheads by 50%. To compensate for this growth, Adel shares why he has decided to take the franchise route. "Blubber" up first, sporting a huge snare-build rising up to a pounding climax, topped off with an acid line driving the track ever upward. "Sunday Hangover" is a bit more melodical. Another month gone by, which meant another installment of GTA Digital Presents on Fnoob Techno Radio, and therefore another mix to add to the podcast series. This month I decided to get back to it after two banging guests. I've recently been looking for some older style hard, driving, percussive techno, but with some groove to it. Me and AJ talk about the 2020 Oscar nominees, whether we agree and who will WIN!
In July 1958, U.S. Marines stormed the beach in Beirut, Lebanon, ready for combat. Farcically. they were greeted by vendors and sunbathers. Fortunately, the rest of their mission—helping to end Lebanon’s first civil war—went nearly as smoothly and successfully, thanks in large part to the skillful work of American diplomats on site, who helped arrange a compromise solution. Future American interventions in the region would not work out quite as well. Bruce Rydel’s new book Beirut 1958: How America's Wars in the Middle East Began (Brookings, 2019), tells the now-forgotten story (forgotten, that is, in the United States) of the first U.S. combat operation in the Middle East. President Eisenhower sent the Marines in the wake of a bloody coup in Iraq, a seismic event that altered politics not only of that country but eventually of the entire region. Eisenhower feared that the coup, along with other conspiracies and events that seemed mysterious back in Washington, threatened American interests in the Middle East. His action, and those of others, were driven in large part by a cast of fascinating characters whose espionage and covert actions could be grist for a movie. Although Eisenhower’s intervention in Lebanon was unique, certainly in its relatively benign outcome, it does hold important lessons for today’s policymakers as they seek to deal with the always unexpected challenges in the Middle East. Veteran CIA analyst, National Security Council Staff member and Assistant Secretary of Defence Bruce Reidel describes the scene as it emerged six decades ago, and he suggests that some of the lessons learned then are still valid today. A key lesson? Not to rush to judgment when surprised by the unexpected. And don’t assume the worst. Charles Coutinho has a doctorate in history from New York University. Where he studied with Tony Judt, Stewart Stehlin and McGeorge Bundy. His Ph. D. dissertation was on Anglo-American relations in the run-up to the Suez Crisis of 1956. His area of specialization is 19th and 20th-century European, American diplomatic and political history.
