Kyle Sandilands is suspended due to ‘serious misconduct' and both shock jocks, Sandilands and Jackie ‘O' Henderson, are said to be considering their legal options. One of Australia's biggest radio shows has come to an explosive end after an infamous on-air spat. Kyle Sandilands and Jacqueline ‘Jackie O' Henderson will no longer present the KIIS FM breakfast program together after Sandilands berated Henderson during a live broadcast last week. TV producer and host of The Beefing podcast, Alexandria Funnell, is questioning why this particular incident ended the show. "The two are known for the biggest stunts in Australian radio history, aren't they? So this is a pretty clever one if it is, it's getting a lot of coverage, they're giving a lot of information about things that are going on behind the scenes." Australia's highest-paying radio show has come to an explosive end. Sydney's Kyle and Jackie O Show has collapsed after Kyle Sandilands reamed out his co-host Jackie ‘O' Henderson in a seven-minute-long exchange she later described as an attack. It led to the program being taken off-air and Henderson quitting the show, and a 14-day suspension and potential contract termination for Sandilands. Australia Correspondent Steve Price told Mike Hosking the company is probably going to be very happy they can get out of the $200 million contract. Israel's launched fresh strikes on Iran and Lebanon as the war in the Middle East intensifies.Both Iranian and Israeli news agencies are reporting the IDF has attacked an Iranian industrial area and several airports, while the US says it has now struck 1700 targets in Iran.Iran's Red Crescent says 787 people have been killed in the country since the war began on Saturday.Iran has continued to retaliate with attacks on oil and gas infrastructure and US embassies in gulf countries, and continued attacks in Israel.Meanwhile, Israel has continued strikes in Lebanon, targeting senior Hezbollah figures and financial institutions.US President Donald Trump says he believes Iran was going to attack first, contradicting comments made by his top diplomatSecretary of State Marco Rubio told reporters the US had to strike to stop an "imminent threat" because Israel was planning to attack Iran, which would have prompted Iran to attack American interests.But President Trump says if anything, he feels he forced Israel's hand, saying he felt Iran would attack, although he didn't provide any evidence.Officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade have been told to cancel all non-essential overseas travel as the government prepares for a potentially massive consular response in the Middle East.Up to 115 thousand Australians are in the Middle East, with many stranded due to the ongoing closure of airspaces.DFAT has now activated its 24 hour crisis centre to help coordinate the response to the situation which foreign affairs minister Penny Wong has described as "unprecedented."  Former Liberal member for Menzies, Keith Wolahan, is urging his party to heed the lessons of an election review which found the party's policies and leadership had alienated women, young people and migrants.The Prime Minister tabled the review, which the Liberal Party decided not to make public, during question time yesterday.Mr Wolahan says the Liberal Party needs to appeal to urban Australia, and better speak to, understand and fight for aspirational multicultural families.Jackie Henderson has resigned as co-host of the Kyle and Jackie O show, following an on-air argument late last month.Ms Henderson handed in her notice stating that she couldn't continue working with Kyle Sandilands, terminating her 100 million dollar contract with ARN Media.Sandilands has also been taken off-air for a two week period, and if he doesn't respond to a written notice from ARN in this time, his contract will be terminated.ARN says the show is being taken off-air immediately.  

The US says it's struck nearly two thousand targets in Iran, as the war in the middle east intensifies.Israel's defence force says it's begun a large-scale wave of new strikes targeting infrastructure in Iran's capital Tehran. Today's discussion comes from our most recent annual conference “Existential Crises: Is the Georgist Paradigm Part of the Solution?” and was recorded in July of 2024. This is the penultimate panel of our conference content on the polycrisis afflicting the globe. Thus far, we have discussed the four most important crises, followed by how Georgism can alleviate these crises, which was then be followed by how to make Georgism more politically palatable, and will now conclude by with different Georgist policy solutions. Today's panelist is part of our fourth and final panel, “The Policy Options.” Our speaker for today's episode is Professor Roger Sandilands. Professor Sandilands is the president of the Scottish League for Land Value Taxation and Professor Emeritus of Economics at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. Dr. Sandilands has held numerous research and teaching positions focusing on monetary and international economics at Simon Fraser University in Canada, National University of Singapore, Lund University in Sweden, and Sophia University in Japan, as well as others. He is the author of two books: The Life and Political Economy of Lauchlin Currie and Monetary Correction and Housing Finance in Colombia, Brazil and Chile, as well as numerous journal articles. He also served as the Managing Editor of the Journal of Economic Studies. Professor Sandilands earned his bachelor's and Ph.D. from the University of Strathclyde. "We sometimes forget that the knowledge systems we use to conceptualize the world are not necessarily exactly the same thing as the world that we're conceptualizing. We mistake the model of the model for the thing that is being modeled. We mistake the map for the territory. We mistake the word for the thing." In this episode, we welcome Catriona Sandilands, a professor of environmental arts and justice at the Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change, York University. Having written, edited, or co-edited four books and close to 100 essays and articles, her research areas include queer and feminist posthumanities, critical plant studies, biocultural histories, ecocriticism, and public environmental engagement through literature and storytelling.
