Tony welcomes sisters Sarah Bailey and Karla Cragg, who share a passion for enhancing the social lives of individuals with autism. They introduce their Breaking Social Barriers PEERS program, an evidence-based social skills training course designed specifically for young adults on the autism spectrum. Their program is based on UCLA's acclaimed PEERS treatment model, the only research-backed method proven to help young adults with autism form and maintain meaningful friendships. They emphasize the importance of honoring autistic individuals' authenticity while equipping them with the social tools they may need. The conversation also explores key topics such as the differences between autism and highly sensitive person (HSP) traits, the impact of diagnosis and labeling, and the increasing demand for targeted social skills training. Sarah Bailey is an impressive triple threat: successfully managing to combine writing a series of bestselling crime thrillers with running an award winning advertising agency - at the same time as having a baby in her 20s, 30s, and 40s.

The Writing Diaries with Sarah Bailey & Dani Vee
We all have doubts and uncertainties; but is the whole idea of faith simply not credible? Questions and doubts are not opposite faith…they are part of a life of faith. But questions and doubts can either drive us to or drive us away from exploring the Christian story. Some questions often asked about religion, faith, or Christianity are rooted in misunderstanding or faulty assumptions. "Negative" apologetics is trying to deal with these misunderstandings so that others might consider giving faith a fair hearing. If we can clear the air a bit, we might be able to engage in a conversation that allows the gospel to speak on its own behalf. In this first lesson, I share why I believe in “a faith worthy of our questions.” The sermon today is titled "A Faith Worthy Of Our Questions." It is the first installment in our "Worthy Faith" Series. The Scripture reading is from Exodus 18:13-15 (MSG). Originally preached at the West Side Church of Christ (Searcy, AR) on October 23, 2022. All lessons fit under one of 5 broad categories: Begin, Discover, Grow, Learn, and Serve. When Dinuka McKenzie first sat down to write a novel, she had no dreams of publication or experience in the craft of fiction. She was the working mother of two young kids, feeling like everyone wanted something from her all the time, and in search of something that was purely for herself. Now she's the award-winning author of The Torrent, a police procedural set in small-town Australia. We talk to Dinuka about why she chose a pregnant detective as her main character, how her own experience as a working mum influenced her story, and how she managed to find time to write with everything else going on in her life! Dinuka McKenzie is an Australian writer and book addict. Her debut crime-fiction manuscript The Torrent won the 2020 Banjo Prize. She works in the environmental sector and is part of the Writers' Unleashed Festival team. She lives in Southern Sydney with her husband, two kids and their pet chicken. In this episode, Chris Rivers and Scott Freeman discuss Grace Church's Shepherding Values—Love Patiently, Know Thoroughly, Speak Wisely, Direct Biblically, and Pray Diligently. The Shepherding Values were created as a guide for effectively equipping community group leaders, as well as other leaders who carry shepherding responsibilities. Scott and Chris give an overview of each of the shepherding values and the possible implementation of each. As leaders, we are often using many of these values at the same time or in correspondence with one another. Scott talks through why we have recently added the fifth Shepherding Value—Pray Diligently. We believe that in order to be effective leaders, we must be prayerfully dependent on God while we Love Patiently, Know Thoroughly, Speak Wisely, and Direct Biblically. It is important to be self aware as a leader in knowing which values are your strongest and which are your weakest. Some of these values may come more easily than others, and it's not possible to encompass all of them perfectly. However, there is room to grow and challenge yourself in the areas that you are weak. You can use the resources listed in the episode notes to work through the applying document. As you continue to implement these values into your leadership, you will see that they become more natural. In this episode, Chris Rivers and Scott Freeman discuss the key components to launching the start of the community group year. The first few community group meetings of the year have the potential to set the tone for how the rest of the year will go. In this episode, Chris Rivers and Scott Freeman discuss the new Sermon Question Process for community group leaders. Scott shares why we are transitioning to a new way of doing sermon questions, the advantages to this new process for both leaders and members, and how leaders will get this new resource. The community group experience serves as an opportunity to dig deeper into God's Word, share life with other believers, and apply biblical teaching to our everyday lives. This process can look different yet still have the same outcome—authentic, biblical community. Our hope is that this new process will serve to create expectancy for what is coming as we look ahead to future sermons. Our desire is for community groups to engage with the Scriptures and share honest thoughts with one another in anticipation of the upcoming message. Your host learns all about Dark Romance from author Sarah Bailey, and asks all the questions you might have been too afraid to ask! We talk about dark romance vs taboo, Reverse Harem and LGBTQIA representation, dangerous book recommendations, and the all important research that goes into writing spice. She was such an exciting guest to have, and gives a truly unique perspective on this particular sub genre of romance. Out of context quotes: "Do you want a cowboy? Or do you want a Biker?" "Is she pregnant? I need to know..." Sarah writes dark, contemporary, reverse harem, erotic and paranormal romances. She adores all forms of steamy romance and can always be found with a book or ten on her Kindle. She loves anti-heroes, alpha males and flawed characters with a little bit of darkness lurking within. Meet Sarah, She is an empathetic, driven 25 years old singer/ songwriter who has been passionate about music and storytelling ever since she was a kid. Taylor Swift has and still is a huge inspiration in her life, and guess what on December 8th, 2020 Taylor has messaged her personally about a post that she had about raising money for the local food bank in her hometown. In this episode we talk more about why she has this love for music, what she wants out of her singing career. We go through the process of how she writes her songs, and what inspires her, and she talks about some obstacles she goes through as the creator of her songs. Not only does she write her songs, but she also does the whole production, she comes up with the Melody, the Lyrics and combines them together to create her own unique art. One of the questions I asked her was do you care about creating music that your fans like or something that speaks to you. Check out the full episode to see what she has to say. Sarah Bailey is an Advertising Exec by day, crime writer by night. In fact she is the best selling and award winning author of The Dark Lake, Into the Night and Where the dead go. It became very clear to Sarah from an early age that if she wanted to get what she wanted she needed to set goals and manage her time effectively. In this episode Sarah explains her relationship with time and how she has let go of "pre worry and post worry" in order to find pockets of time and clarity that allow her to pack in all of her doing. As Sarah says, the only way to get it all done is to "spend less time worrying and more time doing.
