In Episode 8, Karrie invites Dr. Christy Bauman onto The Honest Pod to continue the topic of grief and talk in depth about what it actually looks like to experience grief with ourselves, God and others. Christy explains that when the feeling of grief arises within ourselves it is a gift to be able to release that pain through tears. The tears allow grief to move out of our bodies and she touches upon the physiological effects of grief on the body. Christy also shares that grief in connection with God can be complex and deeply personal. She candidly shares that her grief has often emerged as anger and rage for the pain that death brings, and that by bringing her grief and anger to God, she has been able to draw closer to Him. Lastly Karrie, asks the question of what it looks like to connect grief to community. Our culture has had such a shift around the ways we grieve as a community, that we need more examples of what it looks like when we engage in communal grief. Christy shares a story of grief in connection with community and explains that when we bring our bodies together it gives one permission to release a deep grief from within and have it witnessed. This witnessing allows our wails to be heard, our grief to be known and our souls to heal. How much should you charge for a talk? This the question Alyssa Zajdel has been trying to navigate recently as she was invited to speak at small, local organizations and a larger college group. As a graduate of the Money Skills for Therapists course, she's confident with her 1:1 pricing and the financial management of her solo practice. However, getting invited to speak on stage to a bigger crowd requires an entirely different math equation and goals conversation. Linzy coaches Alyssa through aligning her service offerings with her personal passions, business goals, and value delivery to arrive at some price options, based on the audience she'll be speaking to. They talk through establishing a starting point for her pricing, the topic, and what the modifiers might be. Linzy presents the concept of value-based pricing versus commodity-based pricing therapists are often used to. In today's episode of Coffee and Tea with CarrieVee, I'm pulling back the curtain on a myth I hear far too often: “I'm loud, I'm bold, I'm in-your-face... therefore, I must be empowered.”Let me be clear: empowerment isn't volume. How to Trust the Voice of the Heart. The heart is the most powerful portal we have. Natasha shares how she learned to step out of performance, drop the weight of people-pleasing, and instead live from the truth of her heart. You'll hear about:The moment Natasha realized she could no longer ignore her callingHow channeling her book became an act of surrender to higher wisdomWhy true freedom comes from unveiling who we really are—layer by layerHow the heart and intuition work together to reveal our inner artistThis episode is an invitation to stop performing and start becoming. We're living in a time of radical resentment — where even when people or companies change, some voices still say, “I won't forgive them even if they change their ways.” This posture leaves no room for growth, no chance for transformation. In this episode, I reflect on how forgiveness is upheld across the world's great faith traditions — from Christianity and Islam to Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, Sikhism, the Bahá'í Faith, and Jainism — and how Shinto and Taoism teach us that forgiveness can also be understood as realignment and balance.Forgiveness is not about excusing the harm; it's about creating space for something new. When we don't forgive others, we also withhold forgiveness from ourselves. I invite you to reflect on the last seven days: where have you been hard on yourself? Can you forgive that moment and release it? Because only when we forgive do we open the door to healing and change.Try a little radical forgiveness this week — it's a lot lighter to carry than radical resentment.Want to learn more about CJ Miller? In this week's podcast session, Karrie discusses the second step of healing which often comes after we have brought our story to light. It is a period of grieving. There is no unspoken timeline when grief needs to be resolved. We are always grieving. Grief is a part of our everyday life. But when we grieve in a God given way it moves us through the trauma and hurt, and it allows for us embrace peace because we are not eradicating parts of us. Common misconceptions about grief are:If I start grieving I will drownGrief is weaknessI need to stop being sadThere is a timeline on griefKarrie walks us through how we can find comfort in the grieving process and how we can share our grief with God and within safe places. Grieving inevitably happens when we are alone, but the fullness of healing comes when grief is communal. Reflection Question:What grief have you been holding back? In Episode 5, Karrie named the first step to healing involves connection with our own story. This week, Karrie is joined by Cathy Loerzel, one of the co-founders of the Allender Center, as well as an author, speaker, and story work coach, to continue the discussion of using story work as a tool for healing and how reconnecting to our story can lead us back to our true self . When do we know we need to look at places in our stories? When behaviors and patterns keep arising that prevent us from being who God wanted us to be. Why can't we just know something happened? Why do we need to go through a story at a granular level? Cathy explains that when trauma becomes embedded, we sometimes need to feel it again with an empathetic witness in order to process out what has been stored in the body. Kathy and Karrie share more about the consequences of stored trauma and how maladaptive behavior is created. What happens when art is created not just with the hand, but from the heart? For contemplative abstract painter Chad Glazener, painting has become a spiritual practice—one that grew from his past life as a pastor and now anchors his present as an artist. His layered compositions and organic marks emerge from silence, forming a visual record of presence that invites viewers to pause, turn inward, and encounter wisdom in new ways.Rooted in a background of theater and movement, Chad brings an embodied dimension to his art. Influenced by the Viewpoints method and Suzuki training, he explores tempo, space, and stillness as spiritual tools. For him, painting is less about how to hold a brush and more about how to hold consciousness. Returning often to a beginner's mind, Chad treats art as a playground of self-discovery—an exercise in knowing who he is and what he loves in the present moment.Silence is central to Chad's art practice. He describes it as “the fullness of presence in the present moment,” a bedrock that awakens him most intensely. After painting, he often experiences a creative afterglow, where solitude and silence deepen his connection to Spirit. For Chad, the heart space is the seat of divine presence, and art becomes a spiritual pilgrimage that reveals the fullness of life.In conversation with CJ, Chad shares how he moved from using words to describe Spirit, to embodying Spirit directly through painting and presence. Together they explore the intersection of silence, movement, and art as pathways to awakening—reminding us that painting, like life, is most powerful when lived from the heart space. For more information on Chad, visit https://www.glazenerstudio.com/ or follow. him on Instagram at glazenerstudioWant to learn more about CJ Miller? The First Step to HealingFrom the day we are born, we were created to be connected to God and to others throughout our lives. So of course it's no surprise that the first step to healing involves connection! In Episode 5, Karrie shares a recent story as an example of how patterns often resurface, even at the most unexpected times. Like the day Karrie found herself on a bench with two friends wondering if she would be able to overcome a narrative that had been deeply embedded in her own story. In her fear of being exposed or vulnerable, Karrie felt her body begin to panic and she was uncertain about how to move forward. The moments that follow reveal what it looks like when connection and healing intertwine..Karrie reminds us that we cannot avoid pain but we can live with peace through pain. The many patterns we struggle with in our lives, whether they be shaped by fear, anger, or shame, can be traced back to the particularities of our stories and through sharing those stories we begin to find shalom. Here are some actions to move toward healing in connection:: -Invite others in. -Share our stories.-Name the particularities of our stories.-Repeat the process. When Your Body Tells A Story You Can't Ignore With Tori Hein“No matter what I achieved it never felt like I was doing enough.” Our first Honest Pod guest, Tori Hein, Director of Strategy and Marketing for Freedom Movement, shares her honest journey with being stuck in the cycle of doing more. Tori reflects over the past five years how walking through painful parts of her story with God has brought tremendous self-awareness and has allowed her to bridge the disconnect between her external self that she allowed people to see and her internal self who was feeling exhausted and deeply in need of connection. Behind the need for “doing more” was a wound that was revealed during her own story work through Freedom Academy. What transpired shook Tori to her core and moved her forward in healing the narrative that was held over her. What if your creativity was already written into the rhythm of the Earth? In this conversation, Spiritual Artist CJ Miller sits down with visionary guide Moon Tucker, whose past work with the Spiral Return reawakened a living remembrance field carried by the Earth. Building on that foundation, she now shares her new framework called The Four Walks, a practice that helps artists and seekers dissolve layers of conditioning and return to their original creative tone.
Podcast Host CJ Miller shares how both the body and the planet carry within them an incredible, built-in self-healing mechanism. Drawing from his own journey with back pain and insights from a neurosurgeon, CJ explores how Creative Intelligence restores balance when we learn to step aside and remove obstacles—whether those obstacles are false beliefs, unhealthy habits, or the ego's need for control. With simple examples, like how a Band-Aid doesn't heal but only protects, CJ reminds us that healing is already wired into our design. He also references Louise L. Hay's classic book Heal Your Body, which connects physical symptoms with limiting belief systems, showing how shifts in consciousness can support physical healing.Extending this wisdom to the Earth itself, CJ reflects on how our planet has been fine-tuned for nearly four billion years with self-balancing systems. From flies as unexpected pollinators to the dangers of disrupting nature's delicate harmony, he reveals how Creative Intelligence continually works to restore balance. And this is relevant to an artist: what belief or behavior is limiting you from expressing your Creative Intelligence fully? CJ encourages listeners to trust Creative Intelligence, honor the balance of life, and get out of the way so that both body and planet can do what they do best—heal themselves.Want to learn more about CJ Miller? Your body is always speaking—through pain, posture, and even memory. In this episode, Dr. Colby Lovelace joins CJ to explore how neuromechanics, fascia, and neurotags reveal the hidden roadblocks to healing. Discover how listening to your body restores balance, wholeness, and flow.In this episode, CJ welcomes Dr. Colby Lovelace, a highly accomplished chiropractor with a background in Nutritional Sciences, Health and Wellness, and a Doctorate of Chiropractic from Parker University. With certifications in sports injury management, concussion treatment, rehabilitation, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, Dr. Colby brings a wealth of knowledge about how the body heals, adapts, and restores balance. Together, they explore what it truly means to listen to your body and honor its innate wisdom through the lens of neuromechanics.Dr. Colby explains the fascinating science of fascia—the connective tissue that links every part of the body in patterns of motion. He reveals how movement, even in simple forms, shifts fluid dynamics, stimulates neurological input, and restores the body's natural symmetry. A release in one part of the body can affect another far away, reminding us that healing is always about wholeness. CJ connects this to his own creative practice, where he encourages art students to move before they paint—because movement unlocks not just physical energy but mental and emotional flow.Listeners will also discover how movement can awaken memory, spark creativity, and shift brain function. Dr. Colby discusses how senses like smell and motion activate different regions of the brain, enhancing learning and dissolving blocks. He introduces the concept of neurotags—stimuli that can trigger old memories, emotions, or pain responses—and explains how movement and myofascial release can help rewire those patterns. Pain, he reminds us, is not just a nuisance but a message—a call from the body to pay attention and move differently. At the heart of Dr. Colby's philosophy is the belief that the body is a self-healing mechanism, equipped with innate intelligence. Sometimes, all it needs is for us to remove the roadblocks—whether they stem from thoughts, traumas, or toxins—the three T's that most often disrupt balance. This conversation is a powerful reminder that health is not about forcing the body, but about listening, aligning, and allowing it to return to its own symmetry. Karrie is back with a new season of The Honest Pod and she reflects on how much the podcast has been an integral part of the greater mission of Freedom Movement. Karrie leads Freedom Movement organization and its mission to create safe places that foster healing, hope, and the courage to love who God created you to be. Karrie started the nonprofit in 2014 with the understanding that every single one of us is broken and has wounds, many of which are not often addressed within traditional church environments. She saw firsthand that God's true redemptive purpose for our lives does not begin once we're free from pain, rather it stems directly out of that pain. This season of the Honest Pod will have an emphasis on moving from the places that are shattered or stuck in your story to restoration. Some questions that will be reflected on in the upcoming episodes: -What do we do with the pain in our stories? -Why are we still stuck? -What areas of my story do I still need to dive into? -How do we move forward from those places? Karrie begins with the story of Hagar and the pain surrounding Hagar's story. God meets Hagar in her darkest moment and asks her two deeply honest questions. God reveals to us healing begins with honesty and curiosity. By answering those questions, Hagar can step into who God created her to be. Karrie's work within Freedom Movement helps connect people to their stories and reach into difficult questions. God is always at the center of story work. Only God ultimately brings transformation and peace but there are things we can do to partner with God on our healing journey. In this episode of Coffee & Tea with CarrieVee, I'm inviting you into a heart-to-heart about the power of solution-focused leadership—and how it's shaped not just my business life, but my entire outlook on the world. Whether you're leading a family, a small business, or a billion-dollar organization, the truth remains the same: great leaders don't dwell on problems—they pivot toward solutions.I reflect on the profound influence my parents had on me, especially my mom, who was pioneering remote work before the internet was even a thing. She saw a challenge—wanting to raise her kids at home while also contributing financially—and created a thriving transcription business from her dining room table. Watching her turn limitations into innovations taught me that staying stuck is a choice, and solutions are always within reach if you're willing to get creative and stay persistent.I share how this mindset has impacted my work as a leadership and communication trainer and how I've seen firsthand what happens when people (and entire companies) stop circling the drain of the problem and start climbing toward the solution. If you're feeling stuck, today's episode is your gentle but firm nudge to shift your focus. Plus, I'll leave you with a journal prompt to help you start brainstorming solutions to whatever challenge you're facing right now.Until next time, keep writing, keep growing, and keep going—you.Radical Empowerment LIVE open for enrollment:https://carrievee.com/radical-empowerment-liveRadical Empowerment Method Book on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3Bdp2BCBook CarrieVee for a Speaking Engagement: https://www.coachcarriev.com/contact-meJoin the Confidence and Clarity Membership! https://carrievee.com/confidence-clarity-1Schedule your Discovery Call with CarrieVee!https://schedulewithcarrievee.as.me/?appointmentType=12343596
On this episode, CJ sits down with Santa Fe artist Eneida Valverde, whose life journey spans from her roots in Costa Rica to decades of teaching art in Maryland, and now, to the creative sanctuary of New Mexico. Surrounded by hollyhocks, peaches, and the ever-changing desert light, Eneida shares how her intuitional transcendental practice became the gateway to her current body of work—13 luminous angel paintings inspired by traditional retablos. Her process blends meditation, free-flow journaling, and intuitive mark-making, where shapes, patterns, and words emerge organically. Using watercolors, acrylic pens, and gold leaf, she transforms panels into spiritual expressions labeled with words like “Sanctuary,” “Attunement,” and “Alignment.” “I am following my soul and my spirit,” Eneida says. “I am connected to Spirit no matter what, and I am sharing it with everyone else in the universe. We are small, and yet we are huge.”Raised Catholic and deeply connected to nature, Eneida reflects on the importance of slowing down, sitting quietly, and letting each breath be a connection to Spirit. From teaching students to create loose, line-rich floral arrangements with sticks from the yard, to following her own soul's direction, her story is a testament to the beauty that arises when we stop judging ourselves and allow inspiration to flow.Learn more about Eneida and her classes, by visiting https://www.eneidasomarriba.comWant to learn more about CJ Miller? After returning from a one-month sabbatical in Santa Fe, CJ Miller shares a fresh perspective on the growing conversation around AI and creativity. In this thought-provoking mini episode, CJ invites spiritual artists to release black-and-white thinking, drop their defenses, and stay curious. Rather than viewing AI as a threat, he asks: What if it's simply another tool in the creative toolbox—like a brush, a ruler, or a camera? With a calm and centered voice, CJ explores how true creativity arises not from the tools we use but from the presence, intention, and feeling we bring to the process.
