Patricia was the very first United Kingdom representative at the Eurovision Song Contest back in 1957 with the song "All" . Radio International takes a look back at her music and life in our tribute to Patrica Bredin. Patricia Bredin's performance at the Eurovision Song Contest 1957 in Frankfurt, Germany, with the song "All", created 3 important landmarks: 1. It was the UK's first entry at Eurovision; 2. It was the first song ever sung in the English language at Eurovision; 3. It was the shortest song ever to make it to a Eurovision Grand Final. Coming in at just under 2 minutes (1 min and 52 secs), (although Finland actually entered a shorter song, "Aina mun pitää", just 1 min and 27 secs long, in 2015, which didn't progress beyond the semi finals, in 2015!). His deal to buy the company hasn't gone through yet but Elon Musk is already working to give users a better experience of Twitter.   Over the weekend the billionaire Tesla founder Tweeted what he called very important information to fix your Twitter feed.   Following his instructions changed what you see from a tailored, personalised feed based on what Twitter's algorithm thinks you want, to something very different - consisting of a chronological feed from the people you follow.   To try it, tap the home button, then the stars on the upper right of the screen and then choose ‘latest Tweets'.   Musk said users who didn't do that were being manipulated.   You can switch back and forth between the 2 types of feed whenever you like.     UK Eurovision star Sam Ryder was trending after his excellent performance, finishing as runner up to Ukraine.   Sam came to fame via TikTok and I wonder if we might see future UK entries coming from TikTok or maybe even Sam competing again next year.   You can find Sam @samhairwolfryder on TikTok and if you want more Eurovision there is an official Eurovision app.   More tomorrow!

Babedom, you wanna Get Sexy with your temporary tattoos, don't you? We couldn't possibly leave you hanging without a "Sweet 7" appreciation episode. Joel and David are here to celebrate this glossy and often-sidelined last Sugababes album (to date) and the final single from Amelle, Heidi and Jade: 'Freedom'. Your favourite 2000s pop defenders pick things up in the rollercoaster year that was 2009 when Keisha Buchanan, Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah jump head first into a massive new era, after signing a US deal with Jay Z's label. Back with a brash, maximalist club banger - 'Get Sexy' - the trio looked set to prove haters wrong when the Bruno Mars-produced single shot to No.2. But a sudden line-up change altered the course of history with Keisha dramatically ousted and replaced by UK Eurovision queen Jade Ewen, who was midway promoting her sultry solo single 'My Man'. Despite the challenges, Sugababes 4.0 still turned out two UK Top 10 singles - 'About A Girl' and 'Wear My Kiss' - and delivered a major pop girl group album. It may not be a quintessential 'Sugababes album' but Joel and David can guarantee you'll find something to love here from 'Wait For You' to 'Thank You For The Heartbreak' and 'She's A Mess'! Goes without saying but nothing but absolute love and respect to all six 'Babes. We cannot wait to see the Origibabes - Mutya, Keisha and Siobhan - headline Mighty Hoopla in 2022! Why does the UK have such poor Eurovision results of late? Well the British press love to say that Europe hates us. The latest example? The Mail on Sunday claiming that BMG and other big labels are boycotting the BBC and refusing to send acts to Eurovision 2022 because of a perceived anti-British bias. While record labels may be nervous owing to a string of poor results, the notion of Europe disliking the UK and its artists is rather silly. We discuss. We had the pleasure of interviewing Natalie Shay over Zoom video! Natalie Shay is an indie-pop artist hailing from North London. The multi-award-winning musician has established an ever-growing presence and loyal fanbase through her explosive live performances and unforgettable anthems, recognising her as one of the UK's hottest emerging talents. Her relatable lyrics touch on love, self-discovery and the everyday experiences of a twenty-something.  Combining her youthful and charismatic aura with her classical training and time spent at the prestigious BRIT School, Shay has finessed the ability to produce undeniably catchy music, whilst maintaining a musical maturity. Compared to the likes of Haim, Little Comets and Fickle Friends, the Londoner has absorbed a similar energy and dynamic within her new music, resulting in a sound which oozes with passion and allure. Her latest single “Medicine Boy” plays on the theme of comparing a dysfunctional relationship with a boy to a drug. Shay explains, “The lyrics are written so that if I told you the whole song was about an addictive relationship, it would make sense. But if I also told you the whole song was about recreational drug use, every line would still make sense.” Capturing the essence of a bittersweet relationship, Shay plays with the idea that just because a relationship isn't “good,” it doesn't necessarily mean it's totally unhealthy. She confides, “I was very stuck in my own head and emotions at the time of writing, it was an uncertain time and I'd been doing a lot of thinking and growing up.”Shimmering synths, colourful, animated melodies and Shay's powerful, crystal clear vocals deliver the perfect, feel-good summer anthem, with her instantly recognisable sound shining through in the fresh and fun production. Occasional shadows of darker moments, melancholy lyrics and multi-tonal elements represent the back and forth of fighting for something that you know is perhaps a little toxic. Entering into a new wave of her sound, Shay admits how she now has a better understanding of her own feelings and emotions, allowing listeners to closely follow her journey through her early twenties, blossoming into a more mature and reflective individual. Shay continues to pique the interest of audiences across the globe. Garnering attention from notable publications such as Billboard, Clash and The Line of Best Fit, to name a few, as well as landing Spotify's New Music Friday playlist in nine countries, Shay has collectively amassed hundreds of thousands of streams. She has also worked on EDM tracks with the likes of Grum and Kryder, racking up over 2 millions streams to date. In 2018 she was asked to be part of the jury for the UK Eurovision competition. Continuing to forge ahead, Natalie Shay is quite simply a force to be reckoned with.We want to hear from you!
