In dieser Folge von „Ganz offen gesagt“ diskutiert Stefan Lassnig mit den Hosts des Song Contest-Podcasts "Merci Chérie", Alkis Vlassakakis und Marco Schreuder, wie der Eurovision Song Contest von einer technischen Fernsehexperimentierbühne zu einem hochpolitischen europäischen Großereignis wurde.

Großen Raum nimmt die queere Geschichte des ESC ein: von früh queercodierten Chansons wie „Nous les amoureux“ über Drag-Momente, AIDS-Stille und Life Ball bis zu Páll Óskar, Dana International, Marija Šerifović, Conchita Wurst und der Ausstellung „United by Queerness“ in Wien.
 Sie sprechen über ESC als „Familienshow“ und queeren Safe Space, über Voting-Blöcke, kulturelle Märkte und nationale Rivalitäten, die mehr mit Popkultur als mit „Freunderlwirtschaft“ zu tun haben, und darüber, wie Social Media und TikTok das ESC-Publikum verjüngt haben.

Nur 11 Jahre nach Conchita Wurst gewinnt erneut Österreich den Eurovision Song-Contest. JJ, der eigentlich Johannes Pietsch heißt, überzeugt die Jury und das Publikum und bringt die Trophäe erneut nach Wien. Warum ein 24-jähriger Wiener Opernsänger gerade die ganze Welt verzaubert, wie es zu seinem Sieg gekommen ist und was das für Österreich bedeutet, erklärt Marco Schreuder, er berichtet für den STANDARD seit 2012 vom Song-Contest

Als Vocal Coach begleitete sie Conchita Wurst zum Song-Contest-Sieg. JJ, Österreichs diesjähriger Vertreter, hat vor der Abreise bei ihr vorbeigeschaut. Der ESC gilt heute als eine der grössten Veranstaltungen für die LGBTQ-Community. Der Grundstein dafür wurde schon 1961 von Jean Claude Pascal gelegt, der ein Lied auf die Bühne bracht, das man als Hymne gegen Homophobie interpretieren konnte. Seither folgten unzählige weitere solcher Auftritte. Angefangen hat das alles schon relativ früh. Bereits in den 60er-Jahren fanden schwule Männer in allen beteiligten Ländern den ESC wichtig, sagt ESC-Experte Jan Feddersen. Den Auftritt von Jean-Claude Pascal findet er mutig. Denn im Jahr seines ESC-Sieges war Homosexualität zwar nicht mehr verboten, aber noch immer verpönt. Im Jahr 1998 gewann Dana International, die für Israel antrat und als erste Transfrau an einem ESC teilnahm. 2014 schliesslich gewann Conchita Wurst den ESC. Es gibt viele weitere solcher Beispiele. Die Zeit bis zum Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel wird immer knapper. Das merkt natürlich auch die deutsche Delegation. Wie weit die Vorbereitungen drei Wochen vor dem großen Finale sind, erzählt die deutsche Delegationsleiterin Alexandra Wolfslast in ESC Update. Sorgen gab es ja zuletzt um Sängerin Tynna, die zusammen mit ihrem Bruder Abor für Deutschland antritt und lange krank war. Wie geht es ihr jetzt? Humoriste, vogueuse, DJ, chanteuse : un des grands mérites du succès de Drag Race c'est bien de nous montrer que le Drag n'est qu'un outil parmi d'autres et que les queens sont avant tout des artistes. La preuve, la première invitée de la saison 6 de Place des Fêtes est danseuse, drag queen et depuis le mois de mai, rappeuse, avec la sortie de son premier EP, Festin. Les plus attentifs avaient déjà remarqué l'attraction certaine de Piche pour la musique dans la saison 2 de Drag Race ou encore à l'auditorium de Radio France dans le cadre de l'Hyper Weekend Festival. Si on a déjà quelques rappeurs queers comme Lil Nas X, Piche est la première drag queen en France à s'aventurer dans un style musical encore souvent marqué par les clichés machistes. « Casse, casse le genre, c'est pas l'orientation qui fait la sexualité », balance-t-elle dans le morceau « Festin » qui donne son titre à l'EP. 7 titres qu'elle a composés avec son frère jumeau dans un joyeux mélange de punchlines, d'autotune, de camp et de confessions déchirantes. Mondialement connue depuis un certain soir olympique de juillet 2024, Piche n'en est pourtant qu'au début d'un parcours déjà éclatant. Il y a 10 ans, Conchita Wurst, autre drag queen à barbe, déclarait : « We are unstoppable ! ». En 2024, Piche plante son talon aiguille dans la porte du rap et ses deux premiers concerts parisiens font déjà salle comble. Message aux ouin ouin de la manif pour tous comme les désigne Akira et le Sabbat : il va falloir vous y faire parce qu'on ne retournera pas dans le placard ! Dans Place des Fêtes aujourd'hui, je reçois deux queens, Angèle Chatelier pour sa revue de presse musicale, et Piche, qui après avoir rempli les Étoiles le 6 novembre pour ce qui sera son tout premier concert, sera sur la scène de l'Élysée-Montmartre le 20 mars.

Wenn sich die führenden Privatsender in Düsseldorf treffen, dann ist etwas im Busch: Am vergangenen Donnerstag wurde gemeinsam – auch mit Disney & Co. – die Programmpräsentationen abgehalten. ProSieben überraschte unter anderem damit, dass Chris Tall exklusiv nach Unterföhring wechselt. An der Isar wird der Komiker zunächst mit «Chris Du das hin?» auf Sendung gehen. Der Fernsehsender Sat.1 hat sich mit Yvonne Catterfeld, Conchita Wurst und Bertram Engel drei Experten gesichert, die in «The Tribute» die Coverbands bewerten. Auch Fiction am Vorabend wurde angekündigt: «Die Spreewaldklinik», «Für alle Fälle Familie» und auch noch eine dritte Serie ist geplant. RTL vererbt «Lego Masters» an VOX und produziert mit «Splash! Der „Tödliche Dienst-Tag“ wird ausgebaut und natürlich geht Günther Jauch im Herbst sowie ab Neujahr mit seiner legendären „3 Millionen Euro Woche“ wieder auf Sendung. Veit-Luca Roth und Fabian Riedner bewerten die Neuvorstellungen.

Annemieke Bosman spreekt met Manique Hendricks en Maaike Rikhof, conservatoren van de tentoonstelling The Art of Drag in het Frans Hals Museum in Haarlem. Drag is overal. Denk aan het populaire tv-programma RuPaul's Drag Race en Songfestival-winnaar Conchita Wurst. Maar het is zeker niet nieuw, al in Griekse tragedies werd er aan drag gedaan en op theatrale wijze de spot gedreven met stereotype genderrollen. Ook voor kunstenaars is het een geliefd onderwerp. Hartjesdag, de van oorsprong Haarlemse feestdag waarop mannen als vrouwen verkleed gingen en andersom, is rond 1900  vaak geschilderd. Sommige kunstenaars deden zelf aan crossdressing of drag zoals Ferdinand Erfmann (1901 – 1968) , of maakten portretten van mensen die door deze uitingsvormen zichzelf konden zijn zoals Kees van Dongen (1877-1968). In de tentoonstelling vind je ook hedendaagse kunstwerken van Sin Wai Kin, Sarah Lucas, Gillian Wearing, Yamuna Forzani, Charles Atlas, Julius Thissen, Erwin Olaf, Ton van Rijn en Roza Ahmad die breken met de verwachtingen en stereotypes van mannelijkheid en vrouwelijkheid. The Art of Drag is de eerste tentoonstelling in Nederland over drag vanuit een kunsthistorisch perspectief. Kom kijken hoe kunstenaars hun liefde voor drag uiten op manieren die nog regelmatig op tegenstand stuiten. The Art of Drag is een viering van jezelf kunnen zijn, vrijheid en uitbundigheid!

In der aktuellen Folge des Podcasts "Axel Trifft" ist die Leipziger Band "Poulish Kid" zu Gast. Die Band, bestehend aus Paul (Gesang, Gitarre), Felix (Bass) und Max (Schlagzeug), ist aktuell in der TV-Castingshow "Ich will zum ESC" zu sehen. In der Podcast-Folge sprechen die Bandmitglieder über ihre Teilnahme an der Show, ihre Ziele und ihre musikalische Entwicklung. Paul, der Sänger und Gründer von "Poulish Kid", erzählt, dass die Band schon lange davon träumt, beim ESC teilzunehmen. Als die Band dann angesprochen wurde für "Ich will zum ESC", war sie sofort begeistert. In der Show werden die Bands von zwei Mentoren betreut: Conchita Wurst und Rea Garvey. Paul erzählt, dass die beiden Mentoren sehr unterschiedlich sind, aber beide sehr professionell und hilfreich sind. "Conchita ist sehr erfahren und weiß genau, wie man sich auf einer großen Bühne präsentiert", sagt Paul. "Rea ist sehr musikalisch und hat uns viele wertvolle Tipps gegeben." Die Band ist dankbar für die Unterstützung der beiden Mentoren. Paul, der aus Großenhain stammt, ist vor ein paar Jahren nach Leipzig gezogen. "Ich habe mich in Leipzig sofort wohlgefühlt", sagt er. "Die Stadt ist sehr lebendig und kreativ."Paul ist vor allem von der Musikszene in Leipzig begeistert. "Es gibt hier so viele tolle Bands und Musiker", sagt er. Pope Francis has opened up debate about his Church's most controversial teachings - on sex and the family. He's raised hope among those who'd like the Roman Catholic Church to change its stance on issues like homosexuality, divorce and birth control. But can he meet their expectations? In the first of a three-part series, Helen Grady reports from Austria, where priests and ordinary Catholics are already pushing the boundaries of doctrine. In Vienna, she meets Clemens Moser and Charlotte Leeb, a young couple who, although devout Catholics, are breaking Church rules by living together as an unmarried couple. And Wolfgang, a gay man who spent six years training to be a Roman Catholic priest, tells Helen about his decision to leave the Church he loves because of its opposition to homosexual relationships. In the village of Bad Mittendorf, deep in traditionally-conservative Alpine Austria, Helen meets parish priest Fr Michael Unger, who's proud of his most famous parishioner, the openly-gay performer Thomas Neuwirth - better known to millions as Conchita Wurst, who won the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest sporting a glamorous evening gown - and a beard. And another of Fr Michael's parishioners, Andrea Strimizer, explains how her decision to divorce and remarry means that she's officially barred from receiving Holy Communion, the central rite of the Catholic faith. Back in Vienna, Helen visits the city's seminary, where trainee priest Johannes Eibensteiner explains how he's preparing to minister to Austria's largely liberal flock with gentleness and pragmatism. And she meets the city's Archbishop, Cardinal Christoph Schonborn. A charismatic and influential figure, seen by many as a future Pope, Cardinal Schonborn has developed a special ministry for divorced and remarried Catholics. He says the Church must not lose faith in the traditional Catholic family, but meet people where they are and help them to inch gradually closer towards doctrinal ideals.
