Hear the confession of a Kodak technician who admits the film was edited in real-time, and learn why the “lone bullet” theory is debunked by JFK's stolen brain. The truth isn't hidden—it's staring you in the face.

In the aftermath, over 2,000 books have delved into the events of that fateful November day, spawning one of the most enduring and captivating conspiracy theories in history. Enter Eric, Sean, and Jorge as they embark on an exploration into the mysteries surrounding JFK's assassination. The trio sets the stage by dissecting the findings of the Warren Commission, the investigative body convened by President Lyndon Johnson to unravel the truth behind Kennedy's death. Nearly six decades later, the shadow of JFK's demise looms large, prompting relentless scrutiny and debate. As the world grapples with questions surrounding the assassination, the hosts navigate through the intricate web of evidence and speculation, peeling back the layers of intrigue to reveal the heart of the mystery. Delving deeper into the Warren Commission's report, the focus shifts to the timeline leading up to the tragic demise of Lee Harvey Oswald and dissecting the Commission's controversial conclusions. Was Oswald the lone gunman or a mere scapegoat in a larger conspiracy? The hosts sift through the evidence with a critical eye, challenging conventional wisdom and shedding light on overlooked details that may hold the key to understanding the truth. The spotlight then shifts to Lee Harvey Oswald himself, a figure enshrined in infamy as either the perpetrator or the pawn in a larger game. Join the hosts as they unravel the enigmatic life of Oswald, exploring the tangled web of circumstances that surround him. From his troubled upbringing to his mysterious connections, every aspect of Oswald's life is scrutinized in search of clues that may illuminate his true role in the assassination. As the series progresses, the trio uncovers a labyrinth of mysteries surrounding the assassination, from peculiar witness accounts in Dealey Plaza to the bewildering testimonies surrounding the shooting of Officer JD Tippit. The chaos of Parkland Hospital and the contentious autopsy at Bethesda Naval Hospital only deepen the intrigue, painting a vivid portrait of a nation grappling with shock and disbelief in the aftermath of tragedy. In the climactic exploration, Eric, Sean, and Jorge dissect the myriad conspiracy theories that have swirled around JFK's assassination for decades. From the enigmatic Umbrella Man to theories of an "accidental" shooting, the trio sifts through the outlandish and the plausible in a bid to uncover the truth. We move beyond the Texas School Book Depository, and explore the events and evidence that doesn't relate solely to Lee Harvey Oswald - from the Grassy Knoll, to the Magic Bullet, to The Umbrella Man and JFK's missing brain. This is where the mystery of the day really kicks in. Were there shooters behind a picket fence, was there a signal from a mysterious man standing at the curve in the road, why did the doctor who conducted the autopsy burn his notes? Who were the men seen in the railroad yard in the moments around the shooting? Was a puff of smoke seen on the Grassy Knoll as the shots rang out? We delve down into the further layers that make up the parts of the many JFK conspiracy theories, and ask what can be relied on, and what is debunked - as we explore what it is that ensures this story endures to this day. Plus we track how the story evolved in the years after November 1963, as a newly released video and a Hollywood blockbuster ensured the public could never lose the obsession with this unsolved mystery.

On Thursday's show: This week's Supreme Court ruling temporarily blocking a Texas social media law from taking effect demonstrates it's not always strictly about political ideology in the courts. But as South Texas College of Law Houston's Rocky Rhodes tells us, it is about politics a lot more often than it used to be. Also this hour: We talk about the state of our politics with former Houston Mayor Annise Parker and former Harris County Judge Ed Emmett. Though the two differed on politics, they always worked well together -- in particular during major storm events and other emergencies. But the world of politics has changed dramatically even in the last several years. We seek their wisdom on how to navigate it and how to improve our public discourse. And we revisit a performance by the Houston group Nick Gaitan & The Umbrella Man. Gaitan performs June 5 at Cowboy Surfer.

The David Cassidy Connections

This week my special guest is talking about his amazing life journey which took him from being a songwriter for The Partridge Family to discovering, producing and managing Bruce Springsteen. Mike Appel always wanted to be a songwriter and musician starting his career in the Brill Building which was the heartbeat of the music industry in New York. Born in Flushing, Queens, he was a member of groups in the 1950s and 1960s including The Balloon Farm, co-writing their 1967 hit, A Question of Temperature. Mike worked with song writing duos including Leiber & Stoller, Hugo & Luigi. With his writing partner Jim Cretecos, five songs they penned together were recorded by The Partridge Family – the million seller Doesn't Somebody Want To Be Wanted along with I Can Feel Your Heartbeat, Somebody Wants To Love You, Rainmaker and Umbrella Man. Mike went on to discover and manage Bruce Springsteen. He produced Springsteen's first two albums and co-produced Springsteen's third and breakthrough album, Born To Run. In our conversation Mike talks about the skills he has learnt from other songwriters, his own writing technique, the first meeting of songwriters at the pilot showing of The Partridge Family, the legacy of that music, and how he would have managed David Cassidy. He is currently working on a Broadway musical, Stage Door Johnny, and his autobiography. Visit his website: Mike Appel: writer, musician, singer, arranger & producer

Episode 75  continues  the story of the autopsy.  This episode  is the  fourth  in a    multiple part series that covers the ARRB testimony in 1997 of Jerrol Custer the principal X-ray technician that performed the radiology studies on the President at Bethesda.  Join us in this twelth  autopsy  episode  which begins to reveal even more fantastic events that occurred during the autopsy.  And join us  for a  whole series of episodes about the fantastic goings on that encompass this part of the JFK story.   There is  more direct forensics to come in this series of  forensics episodes.  Stay tuned,  and eventually we'll explore  more of the physical evidence involving use and ownership of the   Mannlicher Carcano rifle and  evidence  recovered from the Presidential limousine, as well as damage done to the vehicle.  Our episodes have now begun  to explore  an array of matters that  dive into a deeper  darkness  related to what  went on that day in Dallas and in the  period before and after the assassination.  Matters   that possibly point  to a  wider  and more sinister  plot to kill the president and  that clearly call into question the theory that there was a  lone assassin.   Complex cases without  an eyewitness that can actually identify the shooter make the forensic and circumstantial evidence that much more important.  Ironically, problems abound with much of the evidence in this case. Evidence that is complex, incomplete and sometimes conflicting. Even as early as 1964, rumors and serious concerns over  the lone gunman theory and the evidence that might contravene it,  were becoming a major concern for the government and the commission. Conspiracy theories were contrary to the government's stated narrative from the very beginning. Stay tuned as there are many more episodes to come! This series comprehensively explores the major facts,  themes, and  events leading up to the assassination in Dealey Plaza and the equally gripping stories surrounding the subsequent investigation. We  review  key elements of the Warren Commission Report , and the role of the CIA and FBI. We explore the  possible involvement of the Mafia in the murder and the review of that topic by the government's House Select Committee on Assassinations in the 1970's. We explore the Jim Garrison investigation and the work of other key figures such as Mark Lane and others. Learn more about Lee Harvey Oswald the suspected killer and Jack Ruby the distraught Dallas night club owner with underworld ties and the man that killed Oswald as a national TV audience was watching.  Stay with us as we take you through the facts and theories in bite sized discussions that are designed to educate, and inform as well as entertain the audience. This  real life story is more fascinating than fiction. No matter whether you are a serious researcher or a casual student, you will enjoy the fact filled narrative and story as  we relive one of the most shocking moments in American History. An event that changed the nation and changed the world forever.

An in depth tutorial and discussion around the assassination of John F. Kennedy, (JFK) the country's 35th president who was brutally murdered in Dallas Texas on November 22, 1963.Episode 49 begins to wind down our time in Dealey Plaza with the witnesses there,  and  our initial journey into the mysterious world of the Grassy Knoll and the idea of a conspiracy.  This episode is  dedicated to  telling the story of the Umbrella Man.  He stood dangerously close  to the motorcade as the final shots rang out with his large black umbrella fully engaged.  And he did it on a  day when the misty light rain of  the morning had already given way to  rain free weather by parade time,  So who was this man  and why was he displaying that umbrella.  Umbrella man did not immediately  come forward after the assassination  and that allowed all sorts of sinister theories to proliferate  in the absence of his identification.  Finally, some fifteen years after the assassination, the puzzle is solved. So,  let's  here the story of the Umbrella Man.     After we wind down our coverage of the Dealey Plaza witnesses,  the next series of episodes waiting in the wings will cover a wide array of forensic topics including the autopsy.   These episodes have begun  to explore  an array of matters that  dive into a deeper  darkness  related to what  went on that day in Dallas.  Matters   that possibly point  to a  wider  and more sinister  plot to kill the president and  that clearly call into question theory that there was a  lone assassin.   Complex cases without  an eyewitness that can actually identify the shooter make the forensic and circumstantial evidence that much more important.  Ironically, problems abound with much of the evidence in this case. Following the events at the Capitol Building last week, we want to offer several conversations to help us work through how we ought to respond as people of faith and in the spirit "Umbrella Man." For our first conversation, Chris talks with Hank Habicht. Hank is a member of the LIDE community, and has worked at several levels of politics over the course of his career. He has worked with the Department of Energy, in the Justice Department, and with a few different administrations. This gives him a unique perspective as both a person of faith and what it means to work in bipartisan environments. This is an extended version of the conversation that we aired on last Sunday's Digital Gathering. Jump to 8:30 if you want to skip past the first part of the conversation that was in that service.

Joe Biden hasn’t yet announced his VP choice, so David Waldman and Greg Dworkin present a KITM that we can listen to while we wait: Have you been saving your urine for something important? Dr. Stella Immanuel wants dibs. If he scores that second term, Donald Trump is on the record as being very impressed with Stella’s Witchfinder General curriculum vitae. Her ABEM seems kinda FUBAR though. Trump’s declining approval now includes Republican declining approval. Donald Trump faces a much bigger task than he did in 2016 The thing is, Donald has never been that big on tasks. Absentee voting requests are skyrocketing. Republicans can only wish dead people voted as often as they’ve claimed. Donald turned off the lights in Michigan, just as Joe turned them on in Georgia. Trump is losing blue collars in Scranton. Independents go blue everywhere. Joe’s voters begin to feel the love, Donald’s are just going to stick around until one of them dies. You can believe the polls, if not the interpreters. Republicans literally can’t believe the mess they’re in. Like their constituents, they need to really feel the symptoms before they can imagine the illness. By the way, Louis Gohmert has tested positive. How a neurological disease latched onto those three brain cells, we might never know. If these guys can't deal with a pandemic in their midst, how can they deal with… anything? Don’t worry, Donald Trump assures us that federal troops will be deploying into urban centers in swing states with vaccine guns in the near future. What does Donald talk to Vlad about? Oh, nothing important. Martha McSally promised voters that her campaign would "suspend all campaign fundraising" but she didn’t say they wouldn’t be collecting a little pocket money. Black Lives Matter protests attract white supremacists, boogs, Hells Angels Aryan Cowboy Brotherhood, etc., and Black lives are probably not their #1 priority. The “Umbrella Man” was a white supremacist. Meanwhile, if you’re walking to your post office, and one fed says “Hands up!”, while the other says “Freeze!”, you just disobeyed one of them, a federal offence. Here, sign this.

The warrant refers to the person as “Umbrella Man,” a 32-year-old dressed in all black, carrying a black umbrella and a sledge hammer he used to break storefront windows. His most recent address is at a home in the Anoka County city of Ramsey. MPR News is not naming the man because he has not yet been charged with any crime. Most of us — all of us, hopefully — had a small, comfortable group of friends in high school we seemed to do everything with. The folks who seemed to always be around, showing up, dragging you out to do this or that. Today’s story concerns the end of just such a group of friends as they begin their senior year of high school. These four aren’t lucky enough to simply grow apart, however, because some twisted and crooked thing has endeavored to make their parting far more deadly. This episode brought to you by: Care/of: Use offer code wf for 25% off at checkout!Support us on Patreon or by purchasing some merch!Follow us on social media: Twitter | Facebook | Instagram Join the Westside Fairytales Horror and Lit ClubSend us an emailArtwork by Yui BreedloveThis month’s recommendations: Literature recommendation: “It” by Stephen KingRandom horror recommendation: “Dead by Daylight” from Behavior Interactive See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

President John Fitzgerald Kennedy ushered in an era of hope in the United States, working to mend relations with the Soviet Union, refusing to invade Laos and Cuba, and promising to further social benefits for all Americans. Before Kennedy could begin to make good on his promises, he was killed while visiting Dallas, Texas, allegedly by a lone gunman named Lee Harvey Oswald. Since 1963, the world has scrutinized the assassination of JFK and the subsequent killing of Oswald, implying that the truth is far darker than what the official story alleges. In the third part of our JFK Assassination series, we tackle many of the controversial and bizarre elements of the case that have led to the birth of hundreds of conspiracy theories. Matt and Kayla discuss the conflicting Warren Commission and HSCA reports, the grassy knoll, Umbrella Man, Badge Man, the Three Tramps, and more. It’s the “Schwapisode” this week! Hosts Phil Thompson and Eric Armstrong get right into the middle of things (or at least, into the middle of the vowel space) to talk about the mid-central vowel, the most popular vowel in the English language.Show Notes:Schwa, the term: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schwa#The_term " The word schwa is from the Hebrew word shva (שְׁוָא shewa’, /ʃəˈwa/, modern pronunciation: shva /ʃva/), which designates the Hebrew niqqud vowel sign shva,” “that in modern Hebrew indicates either the phoneme /e/ or the complete absence of a vowel. Also the Hebrew shva is sometimes represented by the upside-down e symbol for Schwa, a misleading transliteration, since the Schwa vowel is not representative of modern Hebrew pronunciation of shva and is not characteristic of earlier pronunciations either (see Tiberian vocalization → Mobile Shwa = Shwa na'). The spelling "schwa" is German in origin."From the online etymology dictionary: lit. "emptiness."Schwa is [uh] the [uh] sound that many [uh] English speakers use as a [uh] filler sound.
