I was glad to buy him a clean car that didn’t smell funky.  Royals: Minutes 4:45 to 19:15 While we were off the Cambridges celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary and released cheesy anniversary portraits. We also got the typical stories embiggening Kate. Royal experts gave quotes that she was “revolutionising the royal social media game” and filling “the void” left by Harry and Meghan. Her uncle also said that Kate would be a great queen and that Charles shouldn’t be king before William. I play a segment from Zoom where we wonder what Kate does all day. William has been tagging along on Kate’s events except for going to a football club. Will and Kate visited a working farm together where they sat on opposite sides of a hay bale. I remember when they sat on opposite sides of a couch. Will and Kate also started a YouTube channel with a half minute video set to weird music. Chandra says it shows how out of touch they are. They’re embracing a conservative Victorian lifestyle. Dan Wootton has been doing these very weird pieces about the Cambridges in the Daily Mail. He wrote that they won’t divorce and will stay together “as long as they are both alive.” We remember the creepy open letter Wootton wrote to Prince William. Another royal commentator wrote Kate is “the antithesis of Meghan. She is in it for the long game, she does not expect any immediate reward.” If that’s the case, what about all the expensive jewelry and clothing she buys? Meanwhile the Sussexes keep working. They co-chaired the Vax Live concert and Harry spoke to a crowd of vaccinated frontline workers in a pre-taped event. Duchess Meghan wrote a children’s book! It’s called The Bench and is about the relationship between fathers and sons. We appreciate how Meghan doesn’t make announcements until her projects are done. Piers Morgan complained that Meghan shouldn’t write about fathers when her own dad is awful, basically, as if it’s her fault he’s like that. I play a segment from Zoom where April, Michelle, Ameerah, Karen, Tanisha and Sara talk about this. Meghan won another part of her lawsuit against the Mail on Sunday for publishing her father’s letter. They ruled that she owns the copyright to that letter she sent to her father which the DM published. She won the major part of her lawsuit in February. The DM just keeps trashing Meghan despite the fact that she won against them in court. All the royal Instagram accounts posted happy birthday to Archie on his second birthday. Prince Charles got some pushback for not posting happy birthday to his other grandchildren. We also got a cute new photo of Archie from behind, posted on the Archewell website. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez: Minutes 19:15 to 25 Ben Affleck was seen in Jennifer Lopez’s white escalade getting a ride to her house a couple of times. We know they’re together because they blanketed the press about how they’re “just friends.” Jennifer sang “Sweet Caroline” at the Vax Live concert and it was a nod to Ben as it’s the Red Sox song. It’s also a jab at A-Rod because he played for the Yankees. I play a segment from Zoom where we talked about this. This is for Jennifer’s ego and Ben is game. We wonder if Ben has ever been happy in a long term relationship. Right around the time we heard about Ben and Jen, a standup comic and TikToker shared a video Ben sent her on Instagram. Apparently she had unmatched him on Raya because she didn’t believe it was him. We thought it was creepy at first but then when the woman explained that Ben was just verifying that it was him it didn’t sound as bad. Not convicted murderer Carlos the Jackal but Carlos the Californian black bear and alleged killer of chickens. Meghan and Harry participated in the Global Citizen VAX Live Concert to Reunite the World this past weekend. I watched the Live Stream on You Tube along with 10s of thousands of others.  The music was almost secondary to the video clips and appearances by various heads of states and faith leaders,  urging either the equitable sharing of vaccines around the world, or alternatively asking everyone to get vaccinated.I hadn’t expected the Pope to make an appearance but there was Pope Francis giving a message pre-recorded at the Vatican. The Pope said he was adding his voice to what is a growing chorus of voices seeking wider and more equitable distribution of Covid-19 vaccines. Amid the “darkness and uncertainty” brought about by the ongoing pandemic, he said  “we need light and hope." The Pope encouraged everyone not to forget the most vulnerable, saying that  individualism and nationalism  makes us indifferent to sufferings of others. He reminded us that we are all interconnected.Meghan and Harry fulfilled their roles as campaign chairs of the concert, with both of them giving speeches, Harry’s in person and Meghan by video from a bench (maybe The Bench) in the garden of their Montecito home.Their respective speeches showed a lot about their personalities.Harry’s two speeches had an almost a military tone to them as befitting his past career,Meghan’s speech drew on her continuing work for gender equity and speaking as mothers do when concerned for the world that their children will face.  The morning after the concert Global Citizen were reporting the following. ·       $302 million pledged by Canada and Croatia, and $2.5 million from the private sector in support of the ACT-Accelerator to ensure the equitable delivery of COVID-19 vaccines, tests, and treatments.·       13.25 million COVID-19 vaccine doses pledged from Norway, Spain, New Zealand, Croatia, and the UAE to share doses regionally, and to vulnerable countries around the world.·       $39.6 million in commitments pledged by corporate and charitable partners in support of COVAX, the worldwide initiative aimed at equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines. These pledges have been matched in funding to the value of $23.6 million, totaling $63.3 million. Big news on the Meghan and Harry front with the announcement that they are the Campaign Chairs of Global Citizen’s VAX LIVE: The Concert to Reunite the World.  Meghan and Harry are helping a worldwide effort to ensure the equitable distribution of Covid-19 vaccines and treatments to everyone, everywhere.During the May 8th concert,  Harry and Meghan will be  among many who will be delivering messages for vaccine equity.  Other people slated to give a similar message are US President Joe Biden and his wife Jill Biden, US Vice President Kamala Harris, President Macron of France and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada.  A host of actors and comedians will also make guest appearances.  Selena Gomez with hosting the music side  of the event.According to a BBC news article, more than one billion doses of coronavirus vaccines have now been administered worldwide. But there are vast differences in the pace of progress in different parts of the world, with some countries having delivered doses to a large proportion of their population and others still waiting for their first shipments to arrive.Meghan and Harry write on their website:“Over the past year, our world has experienced pain, loss, and struggle—together. Now we need to recover and heal—together. We can’t leave anybody behind,” They add:“We will all benefit, we will all be safer, when everyone, everywhere has equal access to the vaccine. We must pursue equitable vaccine distribution, and in that, restore faith in our common humanity. This mission couldn’t be more critical or important.”The VAX LIVE concert is a fund-raising effort, seeking to raise what they call “dollars for doses” to help vaccinate more than 27 million frontline health workers, and to try and get governments, corporations and NGO foundations to pledge a total of $19 billion to get 1.8 billion COVID-19 vaccine doses plus tests and treatments to the world’s poorest countries by the end of 2021.Please keep looking out for future podcasts on all things Meghan, Harry and Archie.
