The High Key Club will open at the Disneyland Hotel, celebrating Disneyland in 1955. The overall aesthetic will be mid-century modern and will nearly double the previous club-level lounge in the Adventure Tower. A second club-level lounge will open at the Grand Californian. The new two-story space will celebrate the California Craftsman style and be located on the 5th and 6th floors overlooking the Great Hall lobby. This space should open in 2026. – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/exciting-new-additions-hotels-of-disneyland-resort/ All guests of the Grand Californian will benefit from this next update. New decor will added to every guest room, including the Disney Vacation Club Villas. The new designs will feature bright colors inspired by California wildflower blooms. – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/exciting-new-additions-hotels-of-disneyland-resort/ Two new suites are coming to the Pixar Place Hotel. The Incredibles Suite will be a mid-century modern design with a “spy-fi” twist. These rooms should open this summer. – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/exciting-new-additions-hotels-of-disneyland-resort/ Two stores in Downtown Disney have finally opened! Disney Wonderful World of Sweets, which replaces Marceline's Confectionary opened last week. The shop is spacious and offers many of the same items as Marceline's. A new offering is the Werther's Original Caramel popcorn. There is a nod to Marceline, MO in the train display in the window. Storyland Boutique, which is in the old Wonderground location, also opened offering a ever-changing theme. Currently, the theme is “cure, cuddly, and plushy.” The store currently has create-your-own headbands, plush characters, and Pooh and Stitch merchandise. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2025/01/22/phenomenal-popcorn-news-theres-a-new-disney-store-selling-werthers-caramel-popcorn/#more-1003589 https://www.micechat.com/344054-disneyland-news-downtown-disney-expansion/ The Disneyland Resort will have a new President starting in March. Anika Noni Rose, the voice of Tiana from Princess and the Frog, was interviewed on the “Kelly and Ryan” talkshow and made a comment that the Splash Mountain refurbishment had a projected opening of 2024. This is the first time that a solid timefram has been spoken about. Disney would not confirm of deny the information, but released a statement that they will have more to share at the Essence Festival of Culture in New Orleans in July. – https://www.micechat.com/323486-disneyland-update-new-views-booking-up-locking-out/ At Star Wars Celebration last week, it was announced at one of the panels that new scenes would be coming to Star Tours. No details have been released on what the scenes will be, but it is always a welcome addition to have more options. Once we know more, we will be sure to talk about it on a future episode! – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/05/27/disney-hints-at-new-star-tours-scenes/ As we reported last week, Radiator Springs Racers was forced to close after an incident where smoke was coming from one of the ride vehicles. After a 10-day closure, the attraction reopened on Friday, June 3rd. Still no official word on what the cause of the incident was, but a former Disneyland Maintenance Cast Member told MiceChat that the ride vehicles break down regularly and curcuit breakers in each car will cause the vehicle to stop when problems arise. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/06/03/disneyland-reopens-radiator-springs-racers-after-smoking-car-closes-ride-for-more-than-a-week/ and https://www.micechat.com/322588-disneyland-news-radiator-springs-racers-incident-blue-bayou-return-info/ and https://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/disneyland/fantasmic-dinner-packages/availability-modal/ Guests at Disneyland can dine at a favorite restaurant that has recently reopened in a limited capacity. The Blue Bayou has returned and is not taking online reservations, but guests can join the walk-up wait list for lunch or dinner at the podium at the restaurant, or through the Disneyland mobile app. Pirates of the Caribbean is still closed for refurbishment, so the view may not be as magical as normal. The Fantasmic! dining package lists reservation times starting on June 16th. – https://twitter.com/DisneyParks/status/1532803837068824578 MiceChat was able to obtain aerial photos of Toon Town progress this week. From the air, we can see that all of the pavement in the land has been removed and is currently dirt. The facade of the El CapiTOON theater is looking more and more complete. The area where the new park will be located has been cleared and awaiting work to start. Both fountains in the land have also been removed, along with the gazebo in front of the City Hall building. – https://www.micechat.com/323486-disneyland-update-new-views-booking-up-locking-out/ The former entrance to Tarzan's Treehouse has come out from behind walls this week. The area is much more open now for guest traffic heading out of Adventureland toward the bridge over the Pirates queue. Once again, there is not any theming on the new concrete. The lack of the entrance also allows parts of New Orleans Square to be visible throughout Adventureland. – https://www.micechat.com/323486-disneyland-update-new-views-booking-up-locking-out/ We are one week into June, and Celebrate Soulfully has officially kicked off at Disneyland. In Disney California Adventure, groups have been performing at the Hollywood Pictures Backlot stage, and in front of Carthay Circle daily, and seasonal food offerings scattered about. – https://www.micechat.com/323486-disneyland-update-new-views-booking-up-locking-out/ For anyone who has never seen Fantasmic! or would like some tips on how to best experience it, the Orange County Register posted some tips. Among the best tips are to make sure to find a spot in front of one of the mist screens. They are located in front of the island, and on both sides. If you find yourself in the middle of the screens, the view isn't as good. The other stand out tip is to catch the second show of the night. The second show is always less crowded and it is impossible to sit for hours holding a spot since the entire area is cleared after the first show, and fireworks afterward. The longest you will have to wait is about an hour. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/06/03/7-tips-for-watching-the-return-of-fantasmic-at-disneyland/ Much like the electrical parade, there is a favorite treat at Disneyland that keeps on returning. The Fluffernutter churro is available once again at Willie's Churros on Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure. The churro is a standard churro, topeed with a peanut butter sauce, marshmallow sauce, and chocolate chips. The churro is available for $6.75. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/06/review-fantastic-fluffernutter-churro-returns-to-disney-california-adventure/ When we were there last month, there was a line of walls up in front of Ariel's Undersea Adventure. Those walls have finally come down to reveal that they were just replacing the concrete in this area. This is just some of the walkway repaving that has been going on around the entire resort. – https://www.micechat.com/323486-disneyland-update-new-views-booking-up-locking-out/ Discussion Topic: Nicolasa from the Disneyana Fan Club

News: Some new and returning entertainment is coming to Disneyland in 2022. An expanded “Celebrate Gospel!” will debut in February at the Fantasyland Theater, and “Tale of the Lion King” will return in the spring, also to the Fantasyland Theater. The Main Street Electrical Parade will return to Main Street in time to celebrate its 50th anniversary in June. Fantasmic! and World of Color are also announced to return, with no firm time frame yet. Finally, Disneyland Forever fireworks will also be lighting up the sky once again in 2022. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/12/more-fan-favorite-entertainment-returns-to-disneyland-resort-in-2022-including-celebrate-gospel-and-tale-of-the-lion-king/ Nothing quite beats a food festival at Disneyland! Lunar New Year and Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festivals are returning in 2022. The Lunar New Year celebration in 2022 is based on the Year of the Tiger, so Tigger will be joining the festivities. Raya, from Raya and the Last Dragon will make her debut at Disneyland for the celebration as well. The Lunar New Year runs January 21st through February 13th. Starting March 4th and running through April 26th, the Food and Wine Festival will return. Sip and Savor passes will be offered for both celebrations. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/12/fan-favorite-limited-time-festivals-return-to-the-disneyland-resort-in-2022-lunar-new-year-and-disney-california-adventure-food-wine-festival/ As we have been covering for a few weeks now, Jessica Rabbit is taking over Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin. Last week, Jessica Rabbit, dressed in her best detective outfit, made her appearance in the attraction. A new figure was placed next to the car trunk that she used to be inside of, then where she held the sledgehammer, she has been changed over to the new look, and finally, her silhouette has been updated in the queue to reflect the new look. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/12/11/photos-new-detective-jessica-rabbit-animatronic-debuts-at-disneyland/ and https://www.micechat.com/309922-roger-rabbit-cover-up-at-disneyland-jessicas-new-starring-role/ The Disability Access Service, better known as “DAS” has been improved! Starting with visits on December 20th, guests who utilize the service can pre-register for the service virtually with a Cast Member. To do this, guests use a live video chat feature as early as 30 days prior to their visit, but no less than 2 days before arrival. Guests can then book up to two one-hour return windows for select experiences, per day in advance. In the future, Disney says that guests enrolled in the system will be able to same-day self-select an attraction, without having to visit with guest relations. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/12/07/guests-can-now-virtually-pre-register-for-disneylands-disability-access-service/ It was great to be able to ride it's a small world on it's first day of operation for the holiday season, but it took a lot of work to get it open! The Disney Parks Blog documented the process. The underground maintenance room of the attraction, known as “the pit” flooded on November 10th, while refilling was underway. Almost all of the ride control machinery is in the pit, and was submerged in at least 7 feet of water. Twenty different teams sprung into action to get the attraction working again. They set a timeline of 4 weeks to get it operational again. More than 200,000 gallons of water needed to be pumped out of the pit before teams could even begin to determine the damage. Teams worked to determine what could be cleaned and salvaged, and what needed to be replaced. Many of the spare parts which they could use were stored in the same pit. The team reached out to small world attractions around the world to get the needed parts. They met the goal of under 4 weeks and reopened the attraction on December 6th. The timeline was expected to be several months under normal conditions. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/12/how-disneyland-resort-cast-rallied-to-open-its-a-small-world-holiday/ We saw first hand how the launch of the Genie system in Disneyland went last week. The first hour or so worked well as we were able to buy our Genie+ service, and make a couple of Lightning Lane reservations for Guardians and Midway Mania. We were even able to mobile order some food and have a lot of PhotoPass photos taken. About an hour into the day, the entire system went mostly unresponsive. The free Genie service to plan the day only displayed an error, and reservations for Lightning Lane attractions could not be made. Even the Lightning Lane+ pay-per-attraction options were not available. However, around 5pm, the system seemed to come back online and continued to work for us perfectly until the end of the night. Even the couple hours the next morning, the free portion of the service seemed to be working well. – https://www.micechat.com/309918-disneyland-update-genie-fail-entertainment-holiday/ If, like us, you were in the parks on December 10th for the launch of Genie+, and you used the service, you may have received an email from Disneyland. The email states that they are “working to provide recovery” for the launch. Not exactly sure what that means at this time, but it is possible that Disney will either refund guests, or provide some other perk for the inconvenience. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/12/13/select-disneyland-genie-users-to-be-provided-recovery/ A new Star Wars photo opportunity has come to Downtown Disney. Next to the Star Wars Trading Post, there are two new displays for The Book of Boba Fett, the new Disney+ show coming later this month. The first is a throne that Boba can be seen sitting on in the trailer for the new show. The second is a sand crawler, which fans will know from the original movies and the Mandalorian. – https://www.micechat.com/309918-disneyland-update-genie-fail-entertainment-holiday/ A strange construction project that drew a lot of attention has finally been completed. The right side of the walkway to ToonTown has finally come out from behind construction walls and has been revealed to be an ADA access ramp. Theories had been talked about like a new Lightning Lane queue, or other odd options, but this is just an ADA ramp for people needing the less bumpy path and slighly less grade going to ToonTown. – https://www.micechat.com/309918-disneyland-update-genie-fail-entertainment-holiday/ It is going to be easier to spot former Disneyland, and other Disney Parks Ambassadors in the future. New gold Disney Ambassador Alumni name tags have been created that take their inspiration from Walt Disney's Disneyland employee #1 badge. The new name tags were presented to the current alumni at a recent alumni gathering. So, next time you are in the parks, be on the lookout for a gold name tag to see if you are in the presence of a former Disneyland Ambassador. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/12/new-alumni-name-tag-for-disney-ambassadors/ It has been a little while since guest's paper parks have been able to grow – until now. Last week, Disneyland hosted a Galaxy of Wishes fundraising event in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. The money raised from this event will help the Make a Wish Foundation be able to grant more wishes for children with critical illnesses. Disneyland was part of the first wish back in 1980. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/12/galaxy-of-wishes-disneyland-resort-and-make-a-wish-join-forces-to-create-more-magic/ We wanted to have the final update on the Cast Member union negotiations and voting that took place a couple of weeks ago. Josh D'Amaro announced at the IAAPA theme park expo in Orlando that the land would close in March of 2022 to make the changes. The only confirmed information is that there will be a reimagining of the entrance to the land, adding a couple of green spaces for parents and children to relax and play together. The current ToonTown park will expand into CenTOONial Park. It appears that the Jolly Trolley and tracks will be removed and replaced with a new fountain. The concept art also seems to show changes to Roger Rabbit's Cartoon Spin, and possibly even another entrance to Galaxy's Edge. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/11/mickeys-toontown-at-disneyland-park-to-be-reimagined-with-new-experiences-and-more-play-and-interactivity-for-young-families-in-2023/ and https://www.micechat.com/307775-disneylands-toontown-closing-in-2022-for-enhancements/ The holidays at the Disneyland Resort kicked off this past Friday. Mirabel can be seen as part of the Viva Navidad celebration in the Paradise Garden area of Disney California Adventure. The celebration lasted through the weekend at the parks, with a blue carpet greeting for guests at Disneyland on Friday. All of the park icons were lit up in “Disney+ Blue” for the occassion. Special photo opportunities were around the parks as well. On Disney+ itself, a lot of new shows and movies debuted, along with announcements of future shows like Agatha: House of Harkness, Marvel Zombies, and Echo. The new documentary film, Angels and Saints - Eros and Awe, grapples with an American culture which has historically seen the body as “bad” and the spirit as “good.” It features a diverse group of clergy, sex educators, therapists, and workshop leaders who have learned to integrate eros with wisdom or spiritual awareness. Combined with dance, music, poetry, Angels and Saints offers their personal stories and broader insights. Leftscape co-host Robin Renée speaks with Rodney Whittenberg, Emmy-Award-winning "renaissance man" who handled co-production, camera, composing, and editing for the project, and Mx Chris Paige, author of OtherWise Christian: A Guidebook for Transgender Liberation, who appears in the film. News: Some of the rules at the parks will be updated when they reopen. Most notably, Disney reserves the right to request a guest to leave if they are not wearing an approved face covering, violating any of the existing park rules, or for using profanity or offensive language towards Cast Members or other guests. This is in response to the guests that have caused altercations in Walt Disney World upon it’s reopening. – https://blogmickey.com/2021/04/following-guest-outbursts-at-disney-world-disneyland-warns-against-profanity-towards-cast-members/ and https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/04/16/news-disney-will-kick-guests-out-for-using-profanity-towards-others/ With the parks reopening in just over a week, the Disney Parks Blog has posted their Dining Guide. Select locations will open for dining booking on April 22nd, with limited capacity. Reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance. For a complete list of the locations that will be open, with links to the menus, check out the link in our show notes. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/04/disney-parks-foodie-news-dining-guide-to-disneyland-resort-reopening/ One thing that the food guide does not explicitly touch on is the more limited menus when dining returns. Currently, the Plaza Inn only has fried chicken as an entree for example. Beignets are also disappearing from Cafe Orleans, making them only available at the Mint Julep Bar. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/04/19/no-beignets-there-are-some-major-menu-changes-at-this-disneyland-restaurant/ and https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/04/20/we-hope-you-really-like-chicken-big-menu-changes-are-coming-to-this-disneyland-restaurant/ More locations are being added to the long list of locations accepting mobile ordering. The Tropical Hideaway, French Market Restaurant, and the Plaza Inn will now be mobile friendly. Studio Catering Company in DCA will also join this list. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/04/19/mobile-order-will-be-available-at-four-more-restaurants-when-disneyland-reopens/ Last minute dining reservations can now be secured through the mobile walk-up waitlist feature. This allows guests to get on a wait list for the location without having to interact with the host for the location. For now, it is only in place at Lamplight Lounge and Carthay Circle Lounge. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/04/20/theres-a-new-way-to-get-last-minute-dining-reservations-at-disneyland-resort/ Dining locations at the Grand Californian Hotel and Spa, including GCH Craftsman Bar, GCH Craftsman Grill, and Hearthstone Lounge, will be open for dining, but you must be a hotel guest to eat there. The hotel, along with these locations, is reopening on April 29th, one day before the parks return. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/04/16/disneyland-hotel-dining-will-be-open-to-a-select-group-upon-reopening/ With limitations being put on who can enter the hotel areas of the resort, scan in gates are being added to the Disneyland Hotel entrances. These scan in gates are expected to be used in the evenings after the grounds close to the public to allow hotel guests only onto the property. – https://wdwnt.com/2021/04/photos-disneyland-hotel-will-be-open-to-all-guests-during-the-day-scan-in-gates-to-be-available-for-hotel-guests-at-night/ Visit Anaheim has some great deals listed on their site for local hotels. Some of the promotions include Legacy Passholder rates, regular discounts, and a free limited-edition Disneyland Resort castle stainless steel water bottle. These deals seem to run until June 30th, but act fast as they are sure to book up fast! Visit the link in the show notes for all the locations and deals! – https://www.visitanaheim.org/hotel-spring-promotions/ Last week, we talked about the updates coming to the Haunted Mansion, including updates and additions to the pet cemetery. In Florida, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the price just increased from $199 to $219 per builder. The price at Disneyland is still listed at $199, but that could change before reopening. – https://wdwnt.com/2021/04/handbuilt-lightsaber-price-increased-at-savis-workshop-in-disneys-hollywood-studios/ One of the last holdouts in Downtown Disney has reopened for guests. Splitsville Luxury Lanes returned this past week with some new health and safety measures. Bowling is open with limited availability, and indoor and outdoor dining is open. Like most other locations, plexiglass has been installed where groups might be close together, face masks must be worn except for when eating and drinking, and a lot of sanitation will be utilized. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/04/photos-splitsville-luxury-lanes-reopens-with-enhanced-health-and-safety-measures-at-downtown-disney-district/ With April being Earth Month, Disney has announced that some of its classic dolls will be packaged without plastic, and instead use 100% recyclable packaging. The dolls with this packaging will be available at shopDisney, select Disney Stores, and Disney Parks. Also, someone in the comments noticed that they included a boy and a girl playing with the dolls, which helps to normalize those who wish to do so. – https://www.instagram.com/p/CN2bYIjjwum/ Discussion Topic: Original Fantasmic! In today's News: Some charges dropped against pro-life journalists Additional charges against two pro-life investigative journalists have been dropped in the case of the People of the State Of California vs. David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt of the Center for Medical Progress (CMP). In a hearing held over Zoom yesterday, two of the ten charges against Merritt and one of the ten against Daleiden were dropped, according to My Valley News. Daleiden and Merritt are the undercover journalists from CMP responsible for exposing the fetal body part trafficking scandal taking place at Planned Parenthood affiliates around the nation. Yesterday, California’s criminal case against them went before Judge Suzanne Ramos Bolanos in a hearing to request the dismissal of all or some of the criminal charges. the charges that remain for the journalists include recording Planned Parenthood staffers without their consent. New Jersey is challenged on worship restrictions Attorneys from the Thomas More Society filed a motion for leave to file a third amended complaint in a federal religious liberty lawsuit against New Jersey Gov. Philip Murphy. given the decline of covid deaths and hospitalizations to near zero in the state, the Rev. Kevin Robinson, a Catholic parish priest, and Rabbi Yisrael Knopfler, leader of an Orthodox Jewish synagogue, have expanded their claims for relief against Murphy and his administration on account of indoor “gathering” restrictions that interfere with worship. Robinson and Knopfler are asking the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey to prevent Murphy and other state officials from enforcing executive orders that bar their respective houses of worship from holding indoor religious worship at more than 25 percent of capacity, leaving them with only minuscule congregations. 'Baby Lives Matter' A pro-life activist painted a blue and pink mural displaying the phrase “BABY LIVES MATTER” in front of a Planned Parenthood clinic in Washington, D.C., during the weekend and plans to paint more murals across the country. This mural is the latest effort of the Baby Lives Matter movement, which began two weeks ago after artist and pro-life activist Tayler Hansen spent seven hours painting a baby lives matter mural on the street in front of a Planned Parenthood abortion facility in his hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah. College officials block talk from pro-life speaker An evangelical university in Minnesota has blocked a conservative student group from hosting a lecture by African-American pro-life activist Star Parker because of what the administration called her “radically” held beliefs. the University of Northwestern – St. Paul informed its chapter of Young America’s Foundation, a conservative student group, last month that it could not hold an open event featuring the 62-year-old conservative activist. Parker is the founder of the 800-pastor Network Center for Urban Renewal and Education and has long argued that the conservative agenda of traditional values, limited government and free markets are the greatest benefit to low-income Americans, especially African-Americans, in inner cities. She has also long spoken about the negative impact that abortion and Planned Parenthood has had on the African-American community.

This week we talk about last week's PAX Prime event! We even had a man in the field. His name is Andrew. Week in Geek: Andrew hosts trivia with the 12th source for all nerdy and geeky news and discussion podcast, Nerdhole (check out their website for some terrific PAX Prime 2015 coverage), while Dan gets emotional and nostalgic as he watched a father play through the Oculus Rift Apollo Moon Landing demo. PAX Prime 2015 News: Some announcements were made and news was had at this year's event. Dan and Andrew go through the things that piqued their interests. PAX and Nerd Conventions: Andrew and Dan go over how PAX fits into the convention circuit that dominates the nerd world right now, what conventions mean––how those meanings have changed over time––and what it means for nerds in the future. PAX Megagames: Andrew gets a chance to hop the velvet rope and actually work for a megagame at PAX, and they discuss the differences due to his role, where it took place, and how the game played. Question of the Geek: Did you like the 2005 Battlestar Galactica reboot? If so, how did it get its hooks into you? If not, why did you dislike it? We also talked about the financial returns of the great Atari E.T. dig, and Dan will be at Sacramento's Art Mix | Crocker-Con event on September 10th. Get details (and tickets) here. This week Ben and I talk about the importance of practicing little things, in small steps, one at a time. Seems like there's a divide among the shooting community where some trainers tend to have students practice large, complex drills, and other folks (generally the more competition minded) tend to break things down a bit more. We've both found that breaking things down for a bit, and then putting them back together tends to work well. Gear That Doesn't Suck New segment this week! We get asked a lot about different pieces of gear, and what our thoughts are on different things, so we're going to be promoting a piece of gear on every show that we've used and can recommend. This week we talk a bit about the Howard Leight Impact Sport Electric Earmuffs that we've both been using for a few years. They're inexpensive, rather durable (I finally broke mine after about 4 years of use) and they work well. The News: Some guy shot himself in the restroom at a Chick-fil-a. Apparently his Glock "went off" while he was pulling up his pants. Don't fiddle with your blaster in the restroom, leave it holstered. A heroic High School teacher tackled a school shooter. Interesting that he was able to get into position to do it, and took the initiative to do it. Bravo. H562 (The big omnibus firearm bill working it's way through the NCGA) is still alive. There's a good read about it here, which I reference in the episode. Contact: - luke@triangletactical.net - ben@triangletactical.net - (919) 295-6128

Our poor little dog Widget threw another fit this morning. Why? Dogs don't know about daylight savings time. They don't realize you've changed the schedule. So this morning and every morning since November 1st around 5 AM Widget has to go outside, now! Every week when I visit many of the member blogs for the podcast I notice some people posted daily, some weekly, some monthly, and others well I think they might have forgotten they have a blog. In this era of Twitter, Facebook, and other like services, many of us forget to post in the long form. So this got me asking myself if I can do something to get you to blog. The answer I got back was probably not, but I'm going to try anyway. So I'm suggesting to the Oklahoma blogging community to declare Wednesday, September 9, 2009 as "Oklahoma, Go Blog Something Day!” There are no suggested topics. No events to promote. No propaganda to spread. In fact there is no reason what so ever for this day other than the fact to get you to post something to your blog. Okay I will suggest one thing, post something longer than 140 characters. This is your opportunity to reestablish yourself in paragraph form. Tell your friends, post to Twitter, Facebook, or where ever you've been hanging out. Encourage your fellow Oklahomans to go blog something on Wednesday, September 9, 2009. It's that time of year once again that is both joyous and frustrating for young and old alike. It's back to school time for Oklahoma. It's joyous to see all your school friends again, and frustrating to have to get up before noon now. It's joyous to see your children off to school for another year of education and growth. It's frustrating because one you'll miss them, and two its so damn hard to get them out of bed, dressed, and out to meet the bus some mornings. Please keep in mind on your daily commute to work that all the school zones are now active once again. So please keep an eye out for those kids walking to school or getting on or off the school bus. Spring has shown me something unique in our yard, an almost perfect circle. The cause of this near perfect circle, a dog named Widget. Widget resides in our backyard on a twenty foot leash. And just like a famous cartoon dog chasing after an equally famous cartoon rooster, Widget is always discovering the end of his leash. He has manged to dig a trench in our backyard in a near perfect circle. At his parameter Widget is ever vigilant, barking at anyone walking down the alley or even a block away. It's another windy day in Oklahoma, and this isn't just another windy day. It's the 4th day in a row of high winds here in the West OK. It's been 4 days of howling wind, rattling my windows, shaking my trees, and blowing new trash in to my yard. Annoying as it is, the wind does have its benefits. Just over the horizon from my home is a brand new wind power farm. Generating much needed electricity to our state and beyond. Wind is the past, present, and future of Oklahoma. Oklahoma just had one of the worst snowstorms in recent history this past Friday. Many of our friends in the northwestern part of the state are still digging out. For us here in Elk City America the snow got about ankle high. But here it is Sunday and the snow has already melted away. I can see my lawn again. I am however particularly worried about all the plants around the state. It is spring after all, and every thing was starting to turn green. I took a tour of my yard this morning and everything that was green and blooming has wilted. So let's hope all those plants bounce back soon. Hopefully everyone around the state survived the storms well and happy, everyone safe at home nice and warm. I started preparing this week's podcast with something funny, but ended up a on a short rant about social networking data overload, which you'll find in the second half of the program. Every once in a while just have to rant. You read something in news, that just sets off that part of your brain forces you to comment on it. And I did. I think ranting is good every once in while. In fact I'm going to encourage you to rant on something this week. If you don't have your own podcast or radio talk show, get an Utterli account. It's free. You call a phone number and rant away. Other people will hear your rant and they'll comment or rant about themselves. Start a chain reaction rant. So your goal this week dear Blog Oklahoma Podcast listener, go rant about something.
