Thais, in your experience, how often do you find that our 'inner shadows' are actually masquerading as societal or family expectations we've unwittingly accepted as our own truths?" 2. We talk a lot about 'breaking free' from our subconscious patterns, but how do we navigate the discomfort and the backlash that inevitably follows when we start pushing against the norm?" 3. Why do you think our society, that prides itself on progress and individuality, is so reluctant to embrace the concept of exploring and harnessing the shadow mind?" 4. It seems like 'Attachment Theory' makes some people uncomfortable, probably because it forces us to examine our childhood experiences and past traumas. Can you talk about why this discomfort is necessary, and perhaps even beneficial, in our journey to self-discovery?" 5. Thais, you've helped millions of people confront their inner shadows through your work. But let's flip the script for a moment – can you share an instance where your own shadows came to the fore during your professional journey, and how you harnessed that for your personal growth?"

Welcome, everyone, to another episode of "A Little Impolite," where the vibes are high, the topics are fresh, and yes, we sometimes toss the rule book right out the window. Today, we have a captivating guest whose journey takes us beyond the veil through profound near-death experiences. Joining us today is the extraordinary Sharon Sananda Kumara. Sharon shares her unique experiences and insights that bridge the spiritual and physical worlds. We can't help but be intrigued by her three cool names, leaving me curious about not having three cool names myself. From childhood, Sharon exhibited a remarkable connection to the metaphysical, sharing vivid memories of seeing spirits and experiencing psychic phenomena. These encounters, including a poignant moment surrounding her grandfather's passing, ignited her curiosity about life beyond the physical realm. We explore how her Catholic upbringing influenced her interpretation of these experiences and beliefs. Sharon unveils a pivotal moment in 2001, when a tubing trip in San Antonio took a dramatic turn. She recounts the heart-stopping fall from a bus and the subsequent out-of-body journey. Central to this experience was her profound connection with her stepfather and an encounter with Yeshua (Jesus), radiating love and acceptance. The episode delves into the lasting impact of this encounter, weaving together themes of healing, purpose, and the empowerment found in trusting one's intuition. A Little Impolite Newsletter: The Power to Abolish Fear: Unraveling the Narrative

Play Episode Listen Later Sep 8, 2023 4:18

The Power to Abolish Fear: Unraveling the Narrative Greetings, Seekers of Wisdom, Today, we're setting sail on a unique voyage into the depths of human emotion, a territory familiar to each of us: fear. Unlike our usual journeys, this one isn't a prolonged exploration; it's a brief yet potent encounter with fear, aimed at offering you valuable tools for navigating its labyrinthine corridors. For years, I found myself ensnared in the intricate web of fear, a masterful weaver of narratives that governed my choices, actions, and beliefs. It was as if fear had become an unwanted but influential companion on my life's journey. The narratives we carry, often shaped by experiences and societal expectations, can turn fear into a silent puppeteer, directing our decisions from behind the scenes. This revelation sparked my mission to unravel these narratives and discover ways to abolish fear's dominance. The Power of Learned Experiences It's no secret that our experiences and the stories we attach to them shape our worldview. However, when fear is at the helm, our perception of these experiences can become skewed. What was once a simple story can morph into a tale of dread, feeding the fear even further. But here's the liberating truth: we have the power to rewrite these narratives. We can shift our perspective and transform fear from a captor into a catalyst. In the words of Viktor Frankl, "Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom." Breaking Free from Fear's Chains Now, as we embark on this brief but impactful journey, I offer you three invaluable tools to help you abolish fear's grip: Self-Awareness: Begin by recognizing the narratives that drive your fears. Pay attention to moments when fear shapes your decisions. This self-awareness is the first step to reclaiming your agency. Reframing: Challenge fear-based narratives by reframing your experiences. Seek a different perspective, one that empowers rather than paralyzes. This reframing can unveil new opportunities for growth. Courageous Action: The most profound way to overcome fear is through action. Embrace calculated risks and step outside your comfort zone. Every brave step you take weakens fear's hold. These tools, when wielded with intention and courage, can transform fear into a source of strength. They are your companions on this short but transformative journey, and I encourage you to carry them forward as you navigate the labyrinth of life. With courage and curiosity, Deevo --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/fusionphotography/support

“We need to know how to drive our brains, and then life works,” says Britt Frank, clinician and trauma specialist, who believes that we must learn how our bodies respond to different stimuli and form emotions. Britt is less concerned with the “why” of things, and more about the “what” and the “how.” She's not interested in seeking or answering spiritual questions. If we learn how our bodies react to emotions, we can make better choices about our behavior, and life gets easier. Feelings, she says, are body cues, and emotions are the story or meaning we attach to those cues. The goal, she says, is to stop being a reactor and start being a responder. Britt and Deevo share their similar shock and disillusionment about what college turned out to be and the different ways that people, especially introverts, connect with people. Britt says as important as connection is, it can't come at the cost of health, safety, and integrity. They discuss the merits and limitations of psych meds, and the spiritual contradictions of abortion protesters. Hear Britt and Deevo discuss the importance of celebrating micro-wins, the importance of taking accountability and responsibility, and a basic set of actionable steps. Quotes • “Feelings are just body cues. Emotions are when we attach a story or meaning to those body cues.” (15:04-15:10 | Britt) • “Live your best life is sort of, ‘meh.' It's not live your best life, it's live a life where you get to make choices versus hanging around reacting to things all the time and not knowing why.” (17:37-17:48 | Britt) • “There's a degree to which life gets really crappy the more you know and then there's a pivot point at which eventually—assuming you have choices, and relative safety and access—you're no longer lled by your injury.” (21:22-21:36 | Britt) • “No matter how freethinking, no matter how outside the box, no matter how critical or unique you are, at the core of who we are as humans we still need to belong, we still need to have those connections, those conversations, some meaning, some depth. And that only comes from other humans.” (42:33-42:53 | Deevo) • “What are some key adjustments one can make for transformations. What do you mean by that?” (52:32-52:36 | Britt) • “I think personal responsibility is probably one of the keystone human emotions or human elements that if you don't have it, you're going to be lost for a long time.” (55:03-55:12 | Deevo) Links Connect with Britt Frank: Website | https://www.scienceofstuck.com/ Instagram | @brittfrank Connect with A Little Impolite: Deevo Instagram | @fusionphotog Lisa Instagram | @lisastaffphoto Business Instagram | @sproutconnectors Here it is! How Caffeine is Killing You with Stephen Cherniske

“Caffeine isn't energy, it's stress,” says Stephen Cherniske, author of many books including “Caffeine Blues,” who joins Deevo to discuss the many dangers of caffeine consumption. In fact, in nature, caffeine is an active toxic poison that is produced naturally by plants to kill parasites. According to Stephen, half of us can quickly metabolize it, and half of us cannot, hence all of the conflicting and confusing information regarding its benefits. What's more, men and women metabolize it differently given the differences in sizes of their livers. Perhaps the biggest detriment to our health that caffeine presents is not just that it stimulates stress hormones, but while this is going on, the body cannot produce DHEA, which is a very important healing and repairing hormones. Still, it remains a 460 billion dollar industry because so many people see having their coffee or their soda, as a ritual. They also vastly underestimate how much caffeine they are drinking, and like any substance, Stephen reminds us, dosage matters. Join us as Stephen explains how important sleep is, especially as we get older. Deevo explains the physical benefits he's noticed after giving up caffeine, including having deeper, better sleep and the return of his dreams. Quotes • “Dose means everything. Dose defines what a poison is. Dose defines what's nontoxic.” (10:25-10:33 | Stephen) • “Coffee is almost like a tribal talisman to modern society. It's like you have to have a cup of coffee so that you can fit into the group think.” (26:43-26:52 | Deevo) • “Three of the five items you listed in terms of evidence around caffeine's impact: anxiety, panic attacks, and hypertension. What about caffeine causes these to be so prevalent?” (45:33-45:46 | Deevo) • “The hormone of resilience is DHEA.”(49:29-49:31 | Stephen) • “There's good things to say about coffee, believe it or not, and one of the best things about coffee is that it has antioxidant activity.” (55:22-55:33 | Stephen) Links Connect with Stephen Cherniske: Website | TheHealthySkeptics.com Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/stephencherniske/?hl=en Connect with A Little Impolite: Deevo Instagram | @fusionphotog Lisa Instagram | @lisastaffphoto Business Instagram | @sproutconnectors Here it is! Handling Divorce with Melinda Previtera

“Instead of focusing on all the negativity surrounding divorce—which, let's be honest, there is,” says Melinda Previtera of Previtera Law Firm, “I want to change people's mindsets as to how divorce can be an opportunity for rebirth and growth through self-love.” Part of that self-love is maintaining a sense of independence in a marriage, otherwise people start to desire control and get resentful and keep score. Individuals and couples need to be clear with their goals and their purpose, both short-term and long term, and Melinda helps them do that. Above all, people have to be willing to change. Despite the prevalence of divorce in our culture and the upcoming generations who are foregoing marriage altogether, there is still a great deal of stigma around the subject. People tend to project their own indecisions and insecurities onto divorced people, and value the endurance of a marriage over how much it actually serves those involved, including the children. Once divorced and navigating custody, there are important dos and don'ts that Melinda discusses here. Join Melinda and Deevo discuss the antiquated beliefs around marriage, the many lies people tell themselves about what's best for the kids, and why divorce is the most radical act of self-love. Quotes • “I want to introduce a new perspective to this transition to this lifestyle reset is how I describe it, because when the decision to end the marriage is made, whether it's made jointly or by one party, there is an opportunity for growth, evolution, and a reset in your life.” (8:49-9:12 | Melinda) • “At the end of the day, everybody going through this process is in pain, no matter how amicable, it's a loss and there's pain. So, I treat it with that kind of respect and dignity, rather than trying to win a divorce case.” (14:44-14:58 | Melinda) • “When you hear ‘we've outgrown each other,' what that means is one person wants to grow and evolve, and the other person doesn't.” (23:40-23:48 | Melinda) • “I felt like when I was getting judged post-divorce, or even while I was in the process, I felt like some of the questions I was getting asked were people's way of using me as their litmus on how happy or unhappy they were (41:16-41:29 | Deevo) • “What's the most common reason you find people are getting a divorce in this day and age?”(53:15-53:19 | Deevo) Links Connect with Melinda Previtera: Website | https://www.petrellilaw.com/ Instagram | @lawyeringforlove Connect with A Little Impolite: Deevo Instagram | @fusionphotog Lisa Instagram | @lisastaffphoto Business Instagram | @sproutconnectors Here it is! Within six months of launching, Adam's first podcast “Creative Real Estate” ranked in the top one percent, and he's been honored by MeetUp for being one of its top six organizers out of 225,000. Now, he helps others to achieve success with their podcasts by building promotional campaigns that train the algorithm, particularly in those crucial initial 8 weeks. The key is engagement, and the key to engagement is asking rather than telling, he says. Whenever making announcements to your audience you should be asking for their help, and their opinions through open-ended questions that lead to more questions. On this episode of A Little Impolite, Adam walks Lisa and Deevo through his recommended scenario of best steps for promoting their upcoming photography business retreat, including busting some common misconceptions about where and how to include links, and the unique origins of his name. Quotes • “I kept hearing, ‘Your network is your net worth.' It was pretty much a tattoo on my brain.” (29:00-29:13 | Adam) • “I started helping people with podcasts in 2017, six months into my journey, and they were getting a lot more success than I was getting because they were starting it off right and triggering these algorithms early.” (35:36-35:52 | Adam) • “What sort of budgeting are you recommending for people in that space?”(39:47-39:50 | Deevo) • “There's scarcity and there's urgency.
