Have you ever said something in an emotional state that you regretted later? Do you find yourself having intrusive thoughts when you feel angry, frustrated, or sad? And I promise you - it's a life changer! We are not our thoughts. Our thoughts are not us. And our thoughts are most often, not even true.In this episode, I discuss a challenging situation I recently went through where I almost reacted in a negative manner to my thoughts, what I learned from that experience, and some tips for YOU to keep yourself from saying and behaving in ways while in an emotional state that you'll regret later. Learn how to become a watcher of your thoughts, instead of reacting to them. Thanks for being here. Xo, KandisDid you like this episode? In this episode of the podcast, Kandis talks about resilience - the ability to bounce back from life's challenges quickly and effectively without causing downtime or internal distress. She shares key insights and personal experiences related to resilience that can help us become more resilient and perform effectively, both in our personal and professional lives.Everyone faces challenges every day, big or small, and these challenges can cause stress and frustration, to say the least. But by developing resilience, we can learn to face these challenges and obstacles with confidence, overcome them quickly, and grow from them.Kandis shares personal experiences where she faced a variety of different challenges and how these events took her down a path of applied mindfulness and neurolinguistic programming to help herself deal with, overcome and grow from these experiences. And now she helps her clients do the same.Resilience involves more than just confronting extreme adversity. It also includes facing everyday challenges with courage, staying positive, and being able to manage stress effectively. This allows us to go after what we want in life, be successful in our endeavours and even build better, stronger relationships as we come to terms with our own emotions and growth in the process. By learning how to regulate our emotions, we can be in a better position to respond to adversity and uncertainty without being overwhelmed. When we are less overwhelmed - no matter how large the adversity - our brain is able to function more effectively to choose the optimal path forward. Ultimately, Kandis notes that resilience is the most important skill to learn in life.Kandis encourages listeners to reflect on their own experiences and start taking small steps towards building resilience. And by practicing resilience and staying focused on our goals, we can overcome any obstacle and create the life we desire. Are you ready to increase your resilience and build a life you love? Have you ever thought, “Why am I unhappy?” There are a lot of unhappy people in this world. Maybe you're one of them.Maybe you're just not as happy as you'd like to be. Or even you feel that way only sometimes.Either way, I think this conversation provides a lot of inspired insight into why that is. After watching a reel on Instagram, I got super inspired to share these thoughts with you about why so many people are unhappy. Accepting Change and Letting Go.... Humans are funny creatures, in that we often know that change is NEEDED in our life... yet we are too scared to actually make the change. In some cases, we are not even conscious that we're too afraid, we just come up with a ton of excuses why it's not possible. Have you ever stayed in a painful romantic relationship longer than you should have, because you were afraid of what life MIGHT look like when you left? Have you ever stayed at a job that was crushing your soul, just because you were scared you wouldn't be able to find something else? Have you ever avoided a difficult situation with someone, because you were scared how it would make them feel? But then NOT having that conversation has made the relationship worse? Change, whatever that may look like in that moment, is often the only way to really make life better - and yet, so many of us never actually make that change. In Today's episode, we discuss: The neuroscientific reason that we fear change (even when we know it's good for us) How your subconscious mind thinks it's keeping you "Safe" when it's actually keeping you "stuck" How to move more confidently through change and actually accept it and learn to appreciate it--Want to get your hands on a copy of my book? kandisjames.com/bookDid you like this episode? How many times have you heard, "THE PAST IS THE PAST"? Here's the thing... the past IS the past. And that has two different meanings. a) The past is the past, we can't do anything about it, so let's keep moving onb) The past is the past, and the person you are today and the life you live is based on everything that has happened, everything you've experienced in the past which means the past is in part creating your present which creates your future :) So what does this mean? Every situation you've experienced in the past is shaping how you see the world, and who you are within it. Sometimes this is a good thing, like you're super confident and believe you can do anything, so you accomplish amazing things. Or...Perhaps you have difficulties staying committed in relationships and end up hurting others (and getting hurt) in romantic relationships frequently. You want a life partner, but something always seems to shift when it gets serious. You struggle to be vulnerable with those close to you, and that's preventing you from having close friends you can talk to and lean on - making you feel alone/lonely.You get angry easily, or find yourself lashing out at those close to you and feel regretful about it later. These are not simply 'personality traits' as some people will call them. Rather, they are defense mechanisms that your subconscious has created for you in an attempt to keep you safe, or out of harm's way. In this episode, learn how to identify how your past is affecting your present, and how we can start to reprogram your subconscious to let go of these negative behaviour patterns so you can finally be free to live your best life. --Did you like this episode? It's that time of year again, to reflect back on the previous year, and wow - what a doozie! -My third near-death experience, among other things, have given me a lot to reflect on this past year. It taught me some incredible lessons and pushed me towards a path in life that finally feels truly authentic. -I've lost friends, I've gained friends. I've learned how to deal with a life-threatening long-term health diagnosis. I've been reminded time and time again of the power of the tools I teach to my clients (and use myself) when it comes to getting through challenging times. But most of all, I've gained clarity on what's truly important in life. -As I'm sharing these lessons that I've learned, I'm asking you to reflect on how these lessons can be used in your life too. That is why I'm sharing them, after all. Because through shared experiences we can grow ourselves, too. -So please, as you're listening and reflecting on how these lessons can be your lessons too, find me on Instagram and let me know what resonates most with you. Which lessons did you need to hear today? @kandisjames.kj-My Life Lessons from 2022:Life doesn't always go as plannedThings could always be worseYour mind is truly a powerful toolAlways listen to your inner wisdomAsk for helpOf course, I go into much more detail about each one inside the podcast. AND I share a poem I wrote right after getting out of the hospital this past August. #vulnerablemomentThanks for being here - I look forward to hearing your takeaways! Xo, KandisP.S. Sometimes Life Sucks. Right? Life can be hard. Something happens to you or in the world around you, and you can't help but think, ‘Man, this sucks!' or ‘Why is life so difficult all the time?'Perhaps something crappy has happened to you in your life recently - you are going through a difficult breakup or in a bad relationship, you've been diagnosed with a chronic or even fatal disease, you've lost your job, or you're struggling to make ends meet as inflation continues to rise. Life can be full of challenges. And at times it's very common to think “Life Sucks”. I was recently diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and there was a part of me that immediately thought, “Life Sucks”. Thankfully, however, I understand the difference between “life” and our “life situation”. It our life situation that can suck - not life itself. And that's exactly what I'll explain inside this podcast. In this podcast you'll learn: The difference between “life” and our “life situation” that when understood is the key to living a joyful life no matter what is going on around youWhy focusing on the constant change, or impermanence of life, will actually help you get through your most challenging timesThe beliefs that you learned as a child are still affecting your current realityHow to harness the power of your mind to create a better life for yourselfHow to choose a new path amidst challenging times to bring yourself to new levels of joyAt the end of the episode, I've got an epic question for you. Make sure you find me on Instagram @KandisJames.KJ and let me know your answer to it! See you on the inside! Have you ever found yourself ruminating on something you regret doing?-What about not being able to stop thinking about how someone wronged you? -Perhaps you've been stuck in a thought loop about all the bad things that could possibly happen in the future?- This is called overthinking. -Why "over"thinking? Because thinking about these things all day doesn't actually change the situation. In fact, the only thing it DOES do, is change YOUR emotions. (and not for the better). -If you've ever struggled with overthinking, you can listen here to learn from my own most recent struggle with overthinking, how I overcame it quickly - and how you can reclaim control over your thoughts to overcome overthinking and create peace of mind even amidst the most challenging times.-Let me know what you think by finding me on Instagram @KandisJames.KJ--Want to work with me? So, today my car got broken into. And by broken into I mean someone cute the soft top of my convertible. Within a few minutes I felt a rainbow of emotions from anger to compassion. And then I chose which emotion I was going to bring with me into the rest of the day. And I chose compassion and gratitude. Some people told me I should be angry. Some other people I spoke to were angrier about it than I was. I wasn't happy that it happened… I love that car. But I also chose to accept it as if I'd chosen it. And that made all the difference.–In this episode, I'll discuss with you:• The key to accepting negative situations as if you'd chosen them (so you can get over them faster)• How I was able to bring my emotional state back to the calm (despite knowing a large bill $$ was coming my way to fix the damage)• How I use the 6 Mind Traps to assess the situation and move on quickly• Ways that you too can learn to cope with negative life events with more easeNOTES: As a special THANK YOU for listening to this podcast, I'm offering an incredible discount on my 6 Mind Traps Preventing you from Success & Happiness workshop when you click here and register today: Access the Mind Traps WorkshopLet me know what you think about this episode over on the instagrams @KandisJames.KJ (url to instagram: www.instagram.com/kandisjames.kj/ )—Ready to learn more tools to take your life to the next level? Inspired by a client, in this episode I talk about when we need to “feel the feels” and when do we need to “just stay positive” and push through?Positivity is a great tool or skill to have in this world but sometimes it does more harm than good. We have emotions for a reason, and knowing when to acknowledge them fully is key to ‘success' in our lives.Covered in this episode:Acknowledging our emotions and their role in our livesCoping with things that are outside your controlWhy situations are neither positive nor negative - and what that means for your lifeLearning to allow our emotions to take us over - but on our terms. Letting things go…It's arguably the most important and one of the most difficult things for humans to do.We become attached to ideas, expectations, people, places, things… and to ‘let it go' can seem very difficult. Perhaps we've been met with trauma or people have treated us poorly - how do we just ‘let it go'? It's easier said than done, isn't it?Yet, when we hold on to these things, they're taking up space in our lives that we could be using for bigger, better things. Holding onto things that no longer serve us keeps us from growing and moving forward to create a life that lights us up inside each and every day.Which is why it's so important to learn to let it go.And yet... so many people struggle to let things go. That's why I'm sharing with you in today's episode, my three-step process for letting things go with more ease. You will:understand and recognize your attachments and what needs to be let go oflearn to use my 3-step process to let go with more easefind more space in your life to do the things that really matterAs always, please find me on Instagram to share your insights from this episode.@kandisjames.kj
