John is a marketing enigma, a “direct response customer attraction expert” who thinks way outside the box. His marketing consultancy business is called The Institute Of Wow – & John's mantra is that one's marketing needs to “wow” prospects. He's also the guy who shocked the marketing world some years back when he convinced Jerry Seinfeld to come out of retirement to be the spokesman for an Australian banking institution, The Greater Building Society. Jerry headed up a “free vacation campaign” which broke home loan lending records and remains folklore in the global banking industry…..people received a “free vacation” when they got a home loan. This was probably one of the most successful “incentive-promotions” in the world, resulting in many BILLIONS of dollars in extra home loans. John helps business owners understand how to exploit platforms like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn by implementing “incentive-based marketing offers” that can be targeted specifically to certain audiences. His client list reads like a Who's Who of business and includes the likes of Rupert Murdoch's News Ltd, 7 Eleven, Westfield Shopping Centres, Walt Disney, KFC and BP to name a few. Such companies have used his skills because they acknowledge he is “the master of creating incentives that work.” He has created done-for-you “customer incentive packages” that businesses can plug & play – including “extraordinary customer rewards” like Fuel Savings & Free Vacations. When it comes to “unique marketing concepts” that attract an avalanche of new clients for businesses, John certainly delivers. Over the last 20 years, Rajeev has worked in a variety of roles spanning software engineering, sales, marketing, and most recently in the field of user experience. He received his B.S. in Computer Science from Georgetown University and his M.S. in Human Factors in Information Design from Bentley University. This one you don't want to miss, we have Adam Sherman is a long-time San Francisco resident, graduate of San Francisco State University, environmental social justice activist, and a writer who is relatively new to the scene, having mostly done his writing on social media and public service announcements through his activism before embarking on his first published book. With past experience in public service programs and overseas internships, Adam is here with us today to talk about his book, Living Beyond Normal, how it relates to our common humanity and the need to be more accepting of those who are different from us in thinking and behavior, and who deserve all the success and life experiences as anyone else in society. As for chapters, I think it is a good idea that we highlight 3-4 chapters across the three stages of my book so we can give listeners an encompassing insight into its content. My opinion is we start with the first two chapters since they lay the foundation of what's to come, chapter 15 to highlight the struggle of expressing personal feelings and dealing with the real world effects of them, and chapter 18 to highlight the dangers of workplace abuse and the discrimination that comes with searching for work in the job market. As a kid, he drew everything he could think of, hung out with the designers at the advertising agency where his mom worked, and constantly took things apart to better understand them. Always looking for new ways to solve problems, Jeremy was the kid, and later the adult, to whom people turned to when they needed help expressing themselves and their ideas graphically. Today, as the principal of his own firm, Jeremy puts his insatiable curiosity to work every day as he gets into the heads of his clients to understand what they want and—perhaps more importantly—need to develop a memorable brand presence. Thomas Girard is a Canadian scholar. Girard was accepted to attend the University of Oxford in lectures equivalent to graduate coursework. Girard has received several Emerging Scholar awards, first at the Design Principles and Practices conference in Barcelona, Spain at the prestigious ELISAVA. At Emily Carr University of Art and Design he received his second Emerging Scholar award. Other awards include RBC Emerging Scholar, Royal Bank of Canada Foundation. Today we talk to John and I have to tell you this a good one to listen to! So John have a long-term interest in Natural Language learning and Technology. He has lived, studied or worked in Madagascar, Japan and Mexico. John was born in Massachusetts and moved with my family to Florida, where his father worked supporting the early space program. He graduated in 1989 with a BA in French and spent the summer traveling in Europe, to France, Switzerland, Germany, Poland, and Spain. In 1991, he moved to Torrence, California to join a start-up Japanese Computer company.  In 2000, John became a director of LACIT and later added an additional role as Technology Implementation Manager providing technology support to the college of Liberal Arts.
