Its Time... For You to Sit & Write Your Book In this episode of Stories and Strategies for Women we present an opportunity for authors and aspiring authors.  Kate Brenton, author and inspired teacher has created the Sit & Write Master Class that starts October 1 (intake interviews in Sept).  Claudine and Kate explain the Master Class: who it is designed for, how it works, and why combining their unique skills will make the difference between aspiring writer and published writer.  If you have no interest in a class at this time, keep listening.  Kate and Claudine tell their publishing stories and how working together made a huge difference in successful publishing! What is the Sit & Write Master Class? It is a class "container" that runs from Oct to Jan.  With commitment to the program, the aspiring writer could come away with a first draft of a book plus the marketing knowledge to give it the best chance to be seen & sold. How does it work?Community calls, video lessons, and one-on-one calls combined with the unique insight of Kate (spiritual) and Claudine (analytical) will provide both pieces of what is needed for your book to get written and seen.   Kate provides the "tapping into the creative" side and Claudine provides the book marketing / publishing industry side to give aspiring authors what they need at the right time to achieve their publication goals. How to get started?Your process starts with an intake call with Kate Brenton to make sure of the right fit.  The call is free.  Once the connection is made, the Sit & Write Master Class begins Oct 1.  The information to start with the intake call and pricing can be found on Kate's Site.  You can also contact Kate directly with any questions at Kate@katebrenton.com.  Why Kate & Claudine? Both are published authors/teachers/mentors and they have been there and done it successfully.  They both passionately desire to help aspiring authors get their message/story out in the world and to give their book the best possible chance to be seen and sold. Note from Claudine: I am so excited for this class, listeners!  By joining Kate, my long-time goal of helping authors get their message out and their books seen & sold is fulfilled.  For four years now I have interviewed experts who have wished to publish a book or they publish quickly (and not so successfully) simply because they didn't know the book marketing side of being a published author.  We change that state of affairs with this class!Sign up to Sit and Write Master Class before 9/15/22 and use the promo code YES for an early bird discount!Claudine Wolk Substack: Get Your Book Seen and SoldClaudine Wolk Website: ClaudineWolk.comClaudine's Instagram - @ClaudineWolkThis episode of Stories and Strategies for Women is brought to you by Eyebobs.  Enter code 'StoriesandStrat10" for a 10% discount at eyebobs.comand by ThriftBooks.com, the fun site to buy and collect used books.

Author Cara Robertson is not the first writer to broach the subject.  Her take on the material is unique, though,  Cara methodically and clearly follows the trial of Lizzie Borden day by day and reports the events by also using the words of reporters at the time, a clever and effective spin.  Cara also studied law and her grasp of the law adds an extra perspective to the trial proceedings.  True crime buffs will love this careful, methodical, expertly-written report with historical background and photos added to round out the story of this mystery.   You can find Cara Robertson at her website: CaraRobertson.comI asked Cara for her favorite book.  Clarissa by Samuel Richardson was her answer.  Claudine Wolk Substack: Get Your Book Seen and SoldClaudine Wolk Website: ClaudineWolk.comClaudine's Instagram - @ClaudineWolkThis episode of Stories and Strategies for Women is brought to you by Eyebobs.  Enter code 'StoriesandStrat10" for a 10% discount at eyebobs.comand by ThriftBooks.com, the fun site to buy and collect used books.

Welcome Your Inner Wisdom Patricia Walsh Collins, founder and director of Earth School in Point Pleasant, PA, teaches children to welcome their inner wisdom and connect to the earth and to live from the heart.  When she explained her Earth School classes for children aged 7 to 12, the teacher program she offers and the new teen program she created, I was enthralled and declared, "Hey I want to go to a class like that!"What is Intuition and Why Do I Want It?In this Stories and Strategies for Women Podcast episode, Patricia shares her knowledge of intuition - what is intuition, where does it lie within us, where can it be found, and how we can heighten our awareness of it.  There is also a WHY component to energy work and that is, WHY should we seek out and practice our connection to intuition?   Patricia says that intuition is your sixth sense, your instincts.  Why is it important to connect with intuition?  What can it do for us?  Patricia shares that there are many possible benefits to connecting with your intuition.  If we tap into our intuition she instructs, we are more aligned with our own personal truth, we re-establish a spiritual connection with ourselves and the Earth, and we acknowledge our inner wisdom.  Those all are great results, but can those benefits translate to something concrete in the lives of women? The Benefits of Intuition  Yes!  In Patricia's experience, connecting with your intuition can lead to increased confidence, a decrease in stress, and an increase in new ideas and creativity. The connection can help you feel motivated to make a change in your life, try something new, or simply feel better about where you are.  Re-connecting with your intuition - heightening your awareness of it and discovering where it can be found takes practice.  As Patricia has taught children to connect at her Earth School, she has agreed to teach women in a one-time workshop how to connect with their intuition.  The workshop is coming up locally on March 20, 2022, and the details are below.   The Leading from the Heart Workshop will be held in Buckingham, PA on Sunday, March 20th (The Equinox - think: spring & renewal!)  from 2:00 pm to 4:00 at the Buckingham Meeting House. 5684 York Road (routes 202 and 263) Lahaska, Pennsylvania.  Details and registration can be found on her website EarthSchoolForKids.com.  Select the "Workshops" tab and then select "Leading from the Heart Workshop" then select: "Click here to Register."   You can also contact Patricia by shooting her an email at Patricia at ArtofSpiritWorld.comClaudine Wolk Blog - https://www.claudinewolk.com/blogClaudine's Instagram - @ClaudineWolkThis episode of Stories and Strategies for Women is brought to you by Eyebobs.  Enter code 'StoriesandStrat10" for a 10% discount at eyebobs.comand by ThriftBooks.com, the fun site to buy and collect used books.

WHO Really Pays the Price of Motherhood? Best-Selling Author Ann Crittenden Interview

What is a Wife Worth? It is an age-old question - “What Is a Wife Worth?”  Put another way, is a stay at home mom entitled to half the family's worth when the marriage dissolves? We take up that question in this episode of Stories and Strategies for Women with Author Ann Crittenden and her highly researched, best-selling book, The Price of Motherhood.  The Price of Motherhoodpublished in 2001 and was hailed as a “landmark book” by the San Francisco Chronicle.  Ms Crittenden, former NY Times reporter and a Pulitzer Prize nominee, tackles the subjects of “equitable” and "equal” when it comes to divorce settlements but the book is so much more.  Through researched stories the book chronicles the truth about the price of motherhood.   Specifically, the financial risk a women takes who decides to sacrifice a career to be a full-time mom as well as how she is treated by society in her new role.Did COVID Change Some Minds on the Work That is Stay at Home Parenting? With Covid over the last two years, BOTH parents were working AND taking care of their children together, many times at home.  For the first time in our history in the United States, maybe, both parents were stay at home parents and saw first-hand how difficult it is to raise kids.  Instead of assuming that a stay at home mom's job is easy and she is "lucky" to do it, the reality of the challenge and sacrifice of stay at home parenting is clear.  In the case of a divorce, therefore, the VALUE of the contribution of the stay at home parent MUST be more equal to the earning parent than it has been in the past. Please enjoy this thought-provoking interview on this fascinating and important subject.  I also add some personal thoughts where I try to eradicate the word “lucky” when describing stay at home parenting. I include a personal story with an excerpt from my book, It Gets Easier and Other Lies We Tell New Moms.I would love to hear what YOU think and hear YOUR story. The Netflix Documentary titled, "What Would Sophia Loren Do?" really had an effect on me.  I loved it and thought about it for weeks after I watched it.  In this quick podcast episode, I summarize the documentary (without spoilers) and share some of what I love about it and what made me think about life, love, hard work, and a woman's life.Executive Producer, Regina Scully interviews her Mom, Nancy (Vincenza Careri) Kulik, who is a life-long fan of Sophia Loren, so much so that she (Nancy) invokes Loren's name again and again when a question or puzzle arises.  "What would Sophia Loren do?" She would ask herself.Nancy was born in the States of Italian immigrant parents who frequented Italian movies that featured Sophia Loren.  In the documentary, the producer and director, Ross Kauffman skillfully interweaves the stories of the two women's lives with pictures, movie footage and interviews.  As I say in the podcast, "it is hard work to make something look so easy."  The documentary is clever and charming but does not shy away from some the most serious subjects in life - love and loss and tragedy.  It is only 20 minutes long but it stayed with me.  I would love to hear your thoughts on it and what YOU take away.  Please hop over to my blog at claudinewolk.com to comment or catch my facebook or instagram post to comment.I mention my book for new moms, It Gets Easier and Other Lies We Tell New Mothers in the podcast.  Claudine Wolk Blog - https://www.claudinewolk.com/blogThis episode of Stories and Strategies for Women is brought to you by Eyebobs.  Enter code 'StoriesandStrat10" for a 10% discount at eyebobs.comand by ThriftBooks.com, the fun site to buy and collect used books.

In this podcast episode we cover the humor and sometimes painful honesty that comes with becoming a Mom in today's world. We use Lea's character, Bells, to discuss some of the tough aspects of motherhood.   In the story Bells is a stay at home mom of two kids, one in high school, And one in middle school when she finds out that her iud has failed and she is pregnant.  Who even knew that an Iud could fail? Lea did! Bells finds herself moving her family to a small college town in hopes that her professor husband will make tenure. She is an at home who desires to be a successful writer amidst her increasing responsibilities as well as the responsibilities thrust upon her by a community of what the authors terms “extra moms.”  You guessed it.
