Going along with races, when then dig deeper as to how often should one race? How much comp does an athlete need to see? Speaking of competitions, when will we see the effects of the COVID shutdown? Will it be this year? Do you agree with Lucious, Lamar or Clyde about who will medal in the Women's 200 in Tokyo? Very interesting perspectives on this one! She didn't apologize, she didn't explain. Nancy Pelosi chose instead to 'accept responsibility' for being 'set up' by salon owner Erica Kious, and demanded an apology from her. Dan and Dick reflect upon the sheer audacity of such sanctimony and hypocrisy, and measure how far the Democratic Party has drifted from its working class roots toward the 'limousine liberals' we see today.
Her sheer audacity and arrogrance know no bounds, as Nancy Pelosi demands an apology from the salon where she was caught on video without a mask. Calling it a 'set-up,' the Speaker 'took responsibility' for the owner of the establishment misleading her. Attorney General William Barr holds nothing back in a fiery interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer over potential problems for mail-in voting in states that have never had it before.
Join Jim and Greg as they welcome NPR's admission that it failed listeners in its favorable interview of a radical author who thinks property ownership is a form of white supremacy, although they wonder why such a person was ever invited onto NPR in the first place. They also roll their eyes as New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo warns President Trump he would need an army to return safely to New York City. And they try to figure out why Nancy Pelosi decided to launch a conspiracy theory about her flouting of the San Francisco COVID restrictions instead of just letting the story die.

"Let them eat cake!" At least Marie Antoinette was willing to let her loyal subjects enjoy a tasty dessert. The sanctimonious, condescending Nancy Pelosi had the nerve to brow-beat President Trump and regular Americans into compliance with mask orders - only to defy San Francisco's ordinance herself, and go in for a hair styling and cut without a mask. Now, the Speaker of the House is demanding an apology from the salon for a 'set-up' intended to make her look bad. Also, Michael suggests that we won't recognize this country in four years if Biden-Harris wins in November.
Rodney the cat was adopted by the Marton ITM building supplies store a few years back and was a regular at the checkouts, soaking up pats from customers. Last week the tabby cat vanished, but after a concerned customer started digging around it was revealed a manager at ITM had taken Rodney out to a remote country location and left him there. A customer told Checkpoint she was told Rodney was "set free" because having him in the building was an insurance issue. As a result some customers have pulled their business and store staff have received death threats. The ITM branch has now publicly apologised. Lisa Owen asked store owner Rob James what happened to Rodney.

Now Samuel called the people together to the LORD at Mizpah. -18- And he said to the people of Israel, -Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, 'I brought up Israel out of Egypt, and I delivered you from the hand of the Egyptians and from the hand of all the kingdoms that were oppressing you.' -19- But today you have rejected your God, who saves you from all your calamities and your distresses, and you have said to him, 'Set a king over us.' Now therefore present yourselves before the LORD by your tribes and by your thousands.- --

"SET YOUR HOPE FULLY ON ...." Dec. 11 Is our world in a hopeless condition? The indications that it is are multiplying. The nations are too self-centred to take any effective action over global warming and the weather is getting more extreme. The United Nations are more disunited than ever over many issues, especially over Israel. The money woes of the nations increase and move from crisis to crisis; efforts to achieve disarmament are useless, the economies of some nations depend on making and selling weapons! And above all, efforts at moral reform no longer exist, instead laws are relaxed to allow many unnatural kinds of behaviour, ways of living God deplores. We saw a lesson related to that last point as we completed reading the prophecy of Nahum against Nineveh today. It had repented at the preaching of Jonah, but the following generations had gone back to their old ways; doom is now pronounced by God, Nahum’s concluding words to them are - “upon whom has not come your unceasing evil.” Through his prophet Zephaniah God said, “I will make Nineveh a desolation, a dry waste like the desert.” [2 v.13] And it happened. As we start reading Peter’s letters we see how appropriate they are for us. His urgent message is for believers to have a strong faith, to remain steadfast as trials increase. He writes of “the tested genuineness of your faith – more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire – may be found to result in praise and glory and honour at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” [1 v.7] The whole chapter is a powerful message, but we took special note of v.13, “Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” No half measures will be adequate; as the world becomes even more hopeless, Peter tells them, “you have been born again” [v.23] and then tells them how! “Born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God.” The seed of God’s message must “abide” in our hearts if we really want to prepare “our minds for action.” Jonah’s message to Nineveh had proved to be perishable, the children did not learn the lesson as their parents had. If we are to succeed where the Ninevites failed how vital it is for us to feed on and digest God’s word every day.

Original Broadcast: August 2009 Monthly Theme: King Saul [Samuel said:] "But today you have rejected your God, who saves you from all your calamities and your distresses, and you have said to Him, 'Set a king over us.' Now therefore present yourselves before the LORD." (1 Samuel 10:19) Saul Anointed King Samuel goes and does as the people demand and God approved. He goes to find the first king of Israel. He brought the entire congregation of Israel together. Starting with Reuben, he went tribe-by-tribe until God proclaimed the king to come from Benjamin. Benjamin came forward clan-by-clan until the Matrites were chosen. The clan came forward family-by-family until Saul was chosen. "But when they sought him, he could not be found" (v21). Maybe Saul had the right idea. Everybody wants a king, but they want a king who will rule their way. Millions of people demanding to be heard and followed in their ideas. Saul was probably right for running away from such a stressful job, but it was the job that God had given to him. The job he had been born for. Each of us has been placed on this earth for a specific task. Some of us find it earlier, some later. We see how God has skilled us and gifted us with certain abilities, talents and gifts that are best used in certain instances. Many times, especially when we're younger, our task is not so clear. Prayer is needed that God might show us where He wants us and what He wants us to do with our lives in His service. Join me in a prayer this morning. Gracious Lord, be with us this day and enlighten our lives so that we may see Your purposes for us that we might live and walk fully in Your ways. Amen.
