The Psalms are the hymns of ancient Israel. Jesus and His disciples sang them in worship as they traveled the dusty roads of ancient Palestine. Their words were even on Jesus' lips as He hung on the cross. The lyrics that brought so much hope and joy to Jesus continue to inspire His followers today. Join us each Sunday as we listen to a mixtape of Gospel Psalms that previewed Jesus' life, mission, death, and resurrection hundreds of years before His birth.
JT's Mix Tape Episode 34 In this episode of JT's Mixtape, the JT & @demonerasers discuss a range of topics including current events in Los Angeles, immigration policies, the implications of nationalism, and the ongoing riots. They delve into the influence of government and corporations on society, the concept of food as a human right, and the mysterious dynamics surrounding the Epstein case. The conversation touches on conspiracy theories, the role of blackmail in politics, and the symbolism associated with power and control. In this conversation, the speakers delve into the complexities of human flaws, particularly in the context of leadership within the Christian music industry. They discuss the evolution of Christian music, the expectations placed on leaders, and the importance of community in faith. Figgy's Mixtape: Harris County PSA, AI relationship & more.
Texans Offensive Lineman Jarrett Patterson spoke to Texans All Access — is this further proof that the offensive line is trending up? ITL reacts to his comments and what they mean for the trenches. Then, in Figgy's Mixtape: a Harris County PSA you don't want to miss, an eyebrow-raising AI relationship story, and more wild headlines from the world of sports, tech, and culture.

Mosley retires, Adrian Peterson gets into a scuffle, and Jose Altuve's path to 3,000 hits sparks debate. Also: ESPN's All-Quarter Century Team features only “1.5” Texans — John Lopez creates his own, and Figgy shouts out summer's unsung MVPs: landscaping crews. Speaking of MVPs, could T.J. McConnell actually take home Finals MVP? Plus, Texans OL Jarrett Patterson speaks — does it signal a true O-Line bounce back? And in Figgy's Mixtape: a Harris County PSA, an AI relationship story that gets weird, and more madness from sports and beyond.

Figgy's Mixtape: ITL becomes A&Rs on Will Smith's new song, a golfer is a Browns & Steelers fan? & more.
Based on historical trends and metrics, five MLB teams fit the profile of a World Series champion — are the Astros one of them? ITL breaks it all down. Plus, Figgy's Mixtape takes a wild turn: the crew puts on their A&R hats to critique Will Smith's new song, debates a golfer who claims fandom for both the Browns and Steelers, and more wild stories from sports and entertainment.
The Astros dominate the A's 13-3 behind a big night from Cam Smith — but all eyes are still on the KD buzz. Is a trade really in the works, and how is Jalen Green viewed around the league? Plus, QOTD: Who's your all-time favorite bodyguard, sports or otherwise? Around The NFL, George Kittle wants tight ends to get their financial due — and ITL debates whether any player in the league is worth four first-round picks. The Astros are now tied for the second-most wins in the AL — if you had to pick just two players to lead them the rest of the way, who would it be? And What's Popping covers the latest sports and pop culture stories. Pete Prisco's Top 100 NFL Players list is out — how many Texans made the cut, and was it fair? Plus, LeBron thinks it's too much Championship talk? Lunch-Time Confessions dive into the drama. Texans have addressed the CB depth with a signing. Did they get the right dude? Finally, based on historical metrics, only five teams fit the mold of a World Series winner — are the Astros one of them? ITL breaks it down. Then, Figgy's Mixtape goes off the rails as the crew becomes A&Rs for Will Smith's new track, debates a golfer who roots for both the Browns and Steelers, and more absurdity from the sports world and beyond.

Who would come out on top if front offices went head-to-head? ITL debates which teams have the sharpest, toughest, and most cutthroat executives in sports. Then, Figgy's Mixtape brings the chaos — from country radio beef to TSA-triggering items and more off-the-wall headlines you didn't know you needed.
The Astros suffered a walk-off loss and lost Lance McCullers Jr. to another injury setback, adding to their recent struggles. As the team reflects on the 30th anniversary of the Rockets' sweep of the Magic, ITL also looks back at what happened 31 years ago today. The QOTD asks: what major moment have you slept through or nearly missed because you overslept? B Scott joins to break down NFL headlines, including the Browns possibly keeping four QBs and a Cam Ward doc heading to Tubi. He also explains why the Rockets could be a real option for Kevin Durant if a trade materializes. Plus, MLB All-Star voting is already looking like a mess—especially for Astros players. Figgy's Mixtape rounds things out with country radio beef, TSA red flags, and more offbeat stories.

Music fans have been making personal soundtracks for some 50 years, starting with the mixtape in the 1970s, then changing with technology to mixed discs in the 1990s (replacing cassette tapes with compact discs), then creating playlists in the 2000s for devices like iPods as well as streaming services like Spotify. Typically, these homemade collections are just a way to put favorite and/or related songs together for consumption at particular times, such as parties, workouts, vacations or relaxation. And sometimes they're made for sharing - with friends or colleagues or a crush you're trying to impress. The hosts of "How We Heard It" have certainly made more than their share mixtapes, mixed discs and/or playlists over the years, and in this episode they explain themselves - their themes, their intentions and what worked and what didn't - and why they would have hated each other's creations. They also talk about sharing their mixes, walking the line between creating something others want to hear and creating something nobody wants to hear. (Spoiler alert: Read the room.)

What if Y2K was recast in...1999?The turn of the millennium was a cultural crossroads that perfectly encapsulates millennial adolescence—an era before smartphones but after the internet changed everything. In this episode, Cory and Nick explore A24's "Y2K," a horror-comedy that asks: what if technology actually did turn against us when the clock struck midnight on December 31, 1999?The crew talks how this compact 90-minute film captures the distinct cultural essence of late '90s high school life better than most nostalgia pieces. From the tribal divisions between nu-metal kids and pop princesses to the social anxiety of navigating high school parties, "Y2K" serves as a remarkably accurate time capsule of a period that existed between Kurt Cobain's death and 9/11.Thanks for listening; If you feel like supporting us, this is where you do that!Patreon (Just a buck to show your support!)BuyMeACoffee Check out or other content/socials here. In last week's episode, the Modern Love team shared the songs that taught us about love when we were young. But in this week's episode, we hear from you, our listeners, about the songs that helped shape your ideas about love.We heard from present-day teens streaming their anthems on repeat, and we heard from listeners who have been with their partners for over 50 years. There were stories of jazz and rap; adrenaline rushes and loneliness; and many hard-won lessons in matters of the heart. (“Don't let your friends choose your boyfriends,” Amy from St. Louis said.) We share a compilation of some of your songs and stories in the first half of our episode. And we finish our episode with an essay about the end of love. After more than 50 years of marriage, Tina Welling decided that she wanted a divorce — a decision that turned out to be liberating.Thank you to all of the listeners who sent us their teenage anthems. We've compiled them into one glorious Spotify playlist.[You can listen to this episode above, or on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music or wherever you get your podcasts.]Here's how to submit a Modern Love essay to The New York Times. Here's how to submit a Tiny Love Story.
