Megahnn DeWees (@meg.citrinehair) is a Salon Owner, Extension Specialist, and Co-Founder of Citrine Hair & Skin here in Columbus, OH. If you've ever walked through the Franklinton Arts District in Columbus, Ohio, there's a good chance you've passed one of the coolest-looking salons in the city. Lots of plants, moss-covered walls, glowing neon, I'll say, unmistakable vibes. That space is Citrine Hair & Skin, and this week, I'm sitting down with one of the minds behind it all: Meghann DeWees! In this conversation, Meghann walks us through her journey into the world of hair, skin, and entrepreneurship. From breaking early industry misconceptions and even experimenting with makeup FX work in LA, to building a deeply supportive client community and opening Citrine in the middle of the pandemic. She talks candidly about surviving toxic hustle and grind culture, the realities of running a business, navigating motherhood alongside entrepreneurship, and the emotional responsibility that comes with helping people feel confident, comfortable, and seen. We also dive into her passion for extensions and hair loss solutions, the value of shared positive energy between stylist and client, and the evolving chapters of a creative career that refuses to stay in one box. Whether you work in cosmetology, are curious about salon life, or are building something of your own, this episode feels a little like a masterclass. Full of honest stories, grounded advice, and a reminder that success doesn't have to come at the cost of yourself! ----THIS EPISODE IS PARTNERED WITH: PromoWest Productions - @promowestlive For all upcoming shows & event info of who's coming through Columbus, OH, visit promowestlive.com  or to purchase tickets directly, visit AXS.com Makers Social - @makers.social Maker's Social is a DIY Project Bar located in the Franklinton Arts District of Columbus, OH! To book a reservation, go to makerscolumbus.com.

Jeśli Wy też lubicie takie rytuały, to przesłuchajcie odcinek do końca, ponieważ mam dla Was prezent.  A tymczasem zapraszam na rozmowę z moją fantastyczna gościnią Olgą Drendą.Olga Drenda – antropolożka, pisarka, eseistka i tłumaczka. Laureatka Nagrody Literackiej Gdynia i finalistka Paszportów „Polityki”.Menu wiedzy do odcinka: Oldenburg, Ray. The Great Good Place: Cafes, Coffee Shops, Bookstores, Bars, Hair Salons, and Other Hangouts at the Heart of a Community. Uncommon Grounds: The History of Coffee and How It Transformed Our World. The Penny Universities: A History of the Coffee-Houses. Secker and Warburg, 1956. The World Atlas of Coffee: From Beans to Brewing (Autor: James Hoffmann) - Choć jest to przede wszystkim kompendium wiedzy o ziarnach i metodach parzenia, zawiera szczegółowe sekcje poświęcone naczyniom i sprzętowi (filiżanki, kubki, drip, chemex, aeropress). Your income is directly tied to the value you add—whether as an employee, business owner, or consultant. 2. Leadership is the key to scaling any service-based business; investing in your team unlocks growth and profitability. 3. Clarity about your desired lifestyle and business model is essential—don't climb the wrong mountain chasing someone else's definition of success. The Government is set to trim hairdressing red tape. Cabinet has accepted all the Ministry for Regulation recommendations, returning decisions on offering drinks during cuts, and allowing dogs in a salon to the business owner. Changes come into force in July. Kevin Milne may not be a huge fan of ACT, but he'll say David Seymour is good at identifying silliness in rules and regulations. He reminisced on the “pointless bureaucracy” that surrounds the hair styling industry. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We believe all neighborhoods deserve to be covered in a meaningful way.We amplify positive stories, cover development and local school council meetings and serve as watchdogs in neighborhoods often ostracized by traditional news media.Ground-level coverageOur neighborhood-based reporters don't parachute in once to cover a story. They are in the neighborhoods they cover every day building relationships over time with neighbors. We believe this ground-level approach not only builds community but leads to a more accurate portrayal of a neighborhood.Stories that matter to you — every daySince our launch five years ago, we've published more than 25,000 stories from the neighborhoods, covered hundreds of community meetings and send daily and neighborhood newsletters to more than 130,000 Chicagoans. We've built this loyalty by proving to folks we are not only covering their neighborhoods, we are a part of them. Some of us have internalized the national media's narrative of a broken Chicago. We aim to change that by celebrating our neighborhoods and chronicling the resilience of the people who fight every day to make Chicago a better place for all.
