Escape the fate on a windshield AND a door! After a two month reprieve, the daily doom and gloom is back. A homeless guy was too good for my shoes. (AND socks) Who the FUCK is "Carmela Creeper?!" Chipotle Incompetence. SOMETHING IS STILL BITING ME, DAILY. At night I can't sleep, I toss & turn. Saturday night Date with Blood In, Blood Out. Real World Season 2 revisit. Bruce's show, and an accidental viewing of the god awful Roadhouse remake. I complain about Penguin and the Godfather book some more, and talk about people talking about my stupid screenplay/mini series. (It's not stupid, it's good, why am I defenestrating myself)
“Do you know how many burps I edit out?” EXODUS have been blessed with the almost uncanny gift of delivering absolutely devastating opening tracks on every album they've ever done.* There's simply nothing like the “violently articulate” manifestations of Gary Holt's riff wizardry to fuel the intensity of how blisteringly killer the opener (not to mention, the rest of the album) will be, which is why we're BUILDING THE PERFECT ALBUM OF KILLER OPENERS to convey the critical importance of “setting the tone”, right out of the gate. Discover the powerful harmonic wonder of the “Bunkerpoon Barbershop Quartet Trio” and find out which critically notorious component is absolutely essential to ensure the full enjoyment of “The Metal Nerdery Quadraphonic Experience”. Remember that even though the outro reels are often times “a little too prerogative”, generally speaking “it's easier to just not have an individual, original thought”, because more often than not, “it's not tight…it's full”. Get ready to go fast and have “meat sweats the rest of the day” and be sure to have a “moist August” as we begin our TRANSition to “Rap Nerdery” and finalize the preparations for our upcoming “rebranding & renaming”. Enjoy a limited time “voicemail jingle encore” as well as an encouraging message from a “long time listener, first time caller”, be sure to give that “French baguette fella” a break, and JOIN US as we prepare to “Nerd Out” and indulge in BUILDING THE PERFECT ALBUM OF KILLER OPENERS – EXODUS EDITION. *For the most part (sorry Force Of Habit) Visit www.metalnerdery.com/podcast for more on this episode Help Support Metal Nerdery https://www.patreon.com/metalnerderypodcast Leave us a Voicemail to be played on a future episode: 980-666-8182 Metal Nerdery Tees and Hoodies – metalnerdery.com/merch and kindly leave us a review and/or rating on the iTunes/Apple Podcasts - Spotify or your favorite Podcast app Listen on iTunes, Spotify, Podbean, or wherever you get your Podcasts. We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming to bring you a very special installment of Munch My Benson.Johnny Pemberton was kind enough to spend far too much of his time with Adam and Josh, discussing his life, career, one-man show, and guest appearance on the Season 23 episode of SVU “One More Tale Of Two Victims” which we talked about back in MMB 184 - He's Never Going to Get the Cum Blankie Back. He also talks a bit about his upcoming roles in the highly anticipated Amazon Prime series Fallout, what could have been with the Bo and Cheyenne Superstore spinoff that NBC passed on, and his upcoming leading man role in the dark comedy Mermaid from visionary Butt Boy director Tyler Cornack.Johnny Pemberton can be seen performing his solo show at The Den Theatre in Chicago February 14 - 17. Soldier Up)Three-ParterBrainmelterGraziano YearsCarisiBX9 SagaJan 28Still in Three-Parter Land, the Munchie Boys tackle the middle chapter of the BX9 saga that sends our intrepid SVUs north to the Bronx, where they have to continue fixing Bronx SVU while Liv chases down the gang that took a run at her with machetes last week. This means Liv has to trust Captain Mike Duarte (a tall order for her), and this means that Duarte has to trust that Liv can relearn how to police without getting waylaid by tunnel vision, the thing that led to this situation in the first place but which Liv won't accede to being the case. Fortunately, we continue to get new blood working cases, which actually makes for some SVU that's probably more interesting than any 24th-season episode of a television show should be.Music:Divorcio Suave - "Munchy Business"Thanks to our gracious Munchies on Patreon: Jeremy S, Jaclyn O, Amy Z, Nikki B, Whitney C, D Reduble, Tony B, Zak B, Barry W, Karen D, Sara L, Miriam J, Drew D, Nicky R, Stuart, Jacqi B, Natalie T, Robyn S, Isabel P, Christine L, Amy A, Sean M, Jay S, Briley O, Asteria K, Suzanne B, Jason S, Tim Y, Douglas P, John P, and John W - y'all are the best!Be a Munchie, too! As of this episode, we will have covered each and every era of every EXODUS vocalist, from Paul Baloff to STEVE “ZETRO” SOUZA to Rob Dukes (and back again) to ZETRO. As the 2nd vocalist for EXODUS, STEVE SOUZA's voice gave the band a distinct sonic ferocity which set them apart from their “Big Five” counterparts, spewing forth some of the most brutally savage lyrical imagery in all of thrash. While we've already touched on a couple of ZETRO era albums in earlier episodes (which you can locate in the “sizably girthy” Metal Nerdery Archives), we thought a brief refresher might be in order before proceeding onward through the remainder of the catalog. It's time to find out what the best “new R.E.M. Podcast” has in store before we flip “the whole script” and get “waterboarded” after unveiling which Pink Floyd tune had the biggest influence on Jonathan Davis's singing style. Poelie had de cadeautjes namelijk gekozen in de Movie Matters Watchlist, waar we achtereenvolgens “Bound By Honor (aka Blood In, Blood Out)” (vanaf min. 20), “Heavenly Creatures” (vanaf min. 40) en “[REC]” (vanaf min. 53) analyseerden. Blijven luisteren vrienden and enjoy! In episode 51 my two buddies Marcus Graap (Zucchini Drive) and Bleubird are giving out accolades to Adam Resnick & the movie Blood In, Blood Out. Enjoy.
In the movie BLOOD IN, BLOOD OUT, one of the characters says “life's a risk, carnal.” Life is absolutely a risk–and so is karaoke. After this episode's Karaoke Trivia Bullpen challenge, Adam and Ed talk about the risks and rewards of karaoke, and the risks associated with starting a mobile KJ business–chiefly, the cost it takes to set one up in the first place. Why business? Are the guys transitioning into the world of business podcasts? Of course not. Their guest, though, Joey Held, talks to all kinds of artists and entrepreneurs in his podcast “Good People, Cool Things,” and reached out to us because he loves talking to karaoke people as well–for nearly 20 years, he's been on both sides of a karaoke night, as a singer and as a host. They all compare notes on the progress of a goal they all share–singing karaoke in all 50 states, discuss one key rule to providing a great karaoke performance, and have a great time doing it all. Who knows–they may even end up on Joey's podcast someday, as karaoke is a very cool thing. This episode briefly mentions a karaoke charity event that took place in Pittsburgh where proceeds went to RAINN. If you'd like to contribute to RAINN, you can do that at their web site: RAINN | The nation's largest anti-sexual violence organization As always, you can find more info on the website (https://www.sungpoorly.com), and on social media--the show is @sungpoorly on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and now even Tiktok. You can reach Adam and Ed via email by sending a message to sungpoorly@gmail.com. And if you want to support the podcast and snag yourself some great karaoke and podcast swag doing it, our store has all of that and more–www.sungpoorly.com/store. Theme song: "Gasoline" by Ben Dumm and the Deviants. Make sure to check out Ben's newest music at The Ben Dumm 3. Joey Held is a writer, podcaster, and author based in Austin, TX. He's the founder of the Crisp Bounce Pass newsletter; host of the Good People, Cool Things podcast; and author of the book Kind, But Kind of Weird: Short Stories on Life's Relationships. He's never met a pun or dad joke he didn't like, and he prefers a wireless mic when performing karaoke.

I chose Persona Non Grata by Exodus, as it is honestly one of my new favorite albums of all time. It is such a strong and bludgeoning return since the return of Steve "Zetro" Souza and the release of "Blood In, Blood Out" in 2014. After significant delay due to Gary Holt stepping into the late Jeff Hanneman's shoes of Slayer and of course the pandemic, the album is absolute sonic and thrash perfection. Exodus has always been one to capture the signs of the times, encapsulate major occurrences and tackle subject matter deemed too dark for many others, always to great effect. What makes Exodus great and the Thrash titans they always have been is on full display on this record. From Persona Non Grata to Antiseed, this record fucking slams and is a MUST listen for any fan of Exodus or the Thrash genre as a whole. Hails! - Matthew Darrow
It's been a minute since we've had any new EXODUS blasting in our CD and/or MP3 players. But thanks to the Bay Area Thrash Lords' latest offering of sonic devastation, PERSONA NON GRATA, that problem has been swiftly (and effectively) remedied. And for the record, everyone who's saying “It's fine” are WAY off and could not be more wrong! PERSONA NON GRATA is far beyond “fine”: it's absolutely SICK!!! Time to stop all your “diddlin” and “get back” to the jam room for some “copper flavored flan”, embrace your inner, old school “thrash bone” and JOIN US “all day every day” as we Dive into the divine thrash bliss that is EXODUS: PERSONA NON GRATA. On today's episode, we re-enter the Afro-Latino Actors Studio with Carlos Carrasco: actor, filmmaker, and director of the Panamanian International Film Festival. Last week, in part 1 of our conversation, Mr. Carrasco took the lead on stage, then gave us the VIP tour backstage, behind the curtains, where we glimpsed into what it is like to be an immigrant Afro-Latino in acting in the United States, and how this experience impacted his identity and drove him to also dedicate his time to social impact causes for Latin actors, theatre, and film. In today's conversation, we examine the heart of art, how the sounds of things carry the emotions of things, we deconstruct language into its most fundamental pieces, and explore how art is a process of selection. Born in Panamá City, Panamá, Carlos Carrasco has appeared as an actor on Broadway and Off Broadway in New York City, as well as appearing at many of the country's regional theaters. He appeared on Broadway in the Circle-In-The-Square's production of "The National Health” and has appeared at The Hartford Stage Co., Shakespeare & Co., Atlanta's Alliance Theatre, The Arizona Theatre Co., The Folger Theatre and The American Shakespeare Theatre. Off- Broadway he appeared with The Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre, INTAR, Theatre for a New Audience and The New York Shakespeare Festival. Mr. Carrasco has co-starred in such feature films as "Speed," "Blood In...Blood Out," “Turnover,” “Parker,” ”One Man's Hero," "The Burning Season" and "The Fisher King." On television he has been a guest on many prime time series, including “Insecure,” “CSI,” "Star Trek: Deep Space 9," " ER,” "Seaquest," "Hunter," "The Equalizer" and the made for television movies "As Good As Dead" and "Have You Seen My Son?”. Mr. Carrasco has been active in the non-profit sector, serving for six years as Executive Director of the Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors, serving for three years on the Theatre panel for the New York State Council on the Arts and currently producing a Latin American film festival, The Panamanian International Film Festival, now entering its seventh season. In 2005, Psychopathic Records held a contest to find the next artist for the label. Dozens upon dozens of hopefuls sent their demos to The Hatchet, and participated in a number of live performances to be that lucky contract recipient, culminating at the 2005 Gathering. Colorado brothers Otis and Bonez Dubb, collectively known as the Axe Murder Boyz, were the very group voted on by the Juggalos to have that prestigious honor, and in 2006, they would release their first album with the label. But were they up to snuff with the heavy hitters on Psychopathic? Were they the next ICP or Twiztid? Are people STILL mad that they won the contract in the first place? And did their signing inadvertently set off one of the biggest butterfly effects in the Juggalo world? We dive IN today to find OUT, for this is... Blood In, Blood Out. ( Muerte ).

Esta formación grabó el segundo demo "Die by His Hand". Seguiremos Su Historia En El Siguiente Podcast...... rian and Cargill were bound by honor to fulfill a patron request to discuss Blood In, Blood Out. And boy did they. An insane viewing odyssey for Brian, and the movie that got Cargill his first videostore job, Blood In, Blood Out turned out to be a Junkfood classic! Thanks to Patron Jason Tull for requesting this film, and for inadvertently creating the buddy cop saga of Biff & Pangborn.Enjoy!
We covered the classic Blood in Blood Out and talk about how we feel about the 1993 movie.
I had a great conversation with Brooklyn born actor, Craig Thomas Rivela. We met up at the Bath Beach Diner in the Bath Beach section of Brooklyn to talk about things. I was a bit late to the party but I recently got turned onto the 8-part AMC Mini-Series "The Making Of The Mob: New York" from 2015 on Amazon Prime. Craig portrayed Mob boss Vito Genovese. That is the first time I've heard of him. The show was so well done that I started researching the actors. I hit him up and he was more than happy to come onto the podcast. Especially because, next week, on November 5th, his newest movie, "Bare Knuckle Brawler" gets released. The film also stars Martin Kove ("The Karate Kid I, II and III", "Rambo: First Blood Part II", "Wyatt Earp" and a ton more) and the iconic Danny Trejo. ("Machete", "Heat", "Anaconda", "Blood In, Blood Out" and a ton more as well) It turns out we have similar mutual friends and was actually in a hardcore band. Who knew. I hope you enjoy this. Thanks as always for the continued support.

I've known and worked with comedian Keith Manning for about 10 years. He opens for me in a lot of different cities on the road. I like working with him because he's laid back and cool and easy to get along with. From the deep south, Savannah Georgia, he talks about growing up in the south, idolizing Blood In, Blood Out, black fraternities in college, and how he's never met a black person who went to school with the help of the United Negro College Fund… He also talks about his side of the crazy Houston story that my friend Theo told on our 3rd episode of the Kidnapped series. If you haven't heard that one yet, go listen to it first. Thanks to everyone who is listening to our podcast. We love doing it.
