Starting out at the age of just 8, Danny Garwood exhibited a passion for the music of Kenny Wayne Shepherd, John Mayer, Jimi Hendrix, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Danny is based in Nashville and his self-proclaimed mission is to help keep the Blues alive and pass it along to the next generation of musicians. The teen has already had the honor of sharing the stage with the Legendary Bluesman, Buddy Guy and Christone ‘Kingfish' Ingram, but it was a chance invitation to join Ally Venable on stage that resulted in a viral YouTube video, which garnered over eight MILLION views. Danny dropped by for a chat with host, Jim Ervin about all of this and a lot more, so check it out!Website: https://dannyguitarwoodgarwood.com/homeFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/dannyguitarwoodSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/3EruRaiYxlvto2Sf8zSrC8?si=Amez00cpTq-i_ThjoGKidgYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTbycjXBy6A_________________________Facebook: Time SignaturesYouTube: Time SignaturesFacebook: Capital Area Blues SocietyWebsite: Capital Area Blues SocietyFriends of Time Signatures _______Website: University of Mississippi Libraries Blues ArchiveWebsite: Killer Blues Headstone ProjectWebsite: Blues Society Radio NetworkWebsite: Keeping the Blues Alive Foundation
Episode #311 of Blues From The Ouse delivers two hours of carefully curated blues, spanning brand-new releases, deep roots classics, powerful themes and listener-selected favourites. We open the show with fresh blues releases, featuring new music from Selwyn Birchwood, Robert John & The Wreck, Alex Lopez, and Ally Venable, including a Grammy-timed re-release with Buddy Guy. Expect modern electric swamp blues, retro revival sounds and blues-rock that bends the rules just enough. The first themed set, “The Legal Blues”, explores songs of judges, juries, prisons and punishment. From Furry Lewis and Bukka White's Parchman Farm Blues to Joe Bonamassa's cinematic re-working of Prisoner and Sonny Boy Williamson II's courtroom classic Your Funeral And My Trial, this is blues born from hard time and harder truths.Next, “Sight Unseen” shines a light on musicians who lost their sight but sharpened their sound. Featuring Ray Charles, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Sonny Terry, and Jeff Healey, this set celebrates artists whose hearing, feel and phrasing changed the shape of blues music forever. The second hour is all about listener requests, digging deep beyond algorithm playlists. Tracks come from Chicago Bob and the Blues Squad, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Hitman Blues Band, Canyon Lights, Sherman Robertson, The Zac Schulze Gang, and more — plus the latest Blues From The Ouse Gig Round-Up, highlighting upcoming UK blues shows and festivals. We wind the night down with The Great Divide, tracing the crossover between blues and country with The Allman Brothers Band, Freddie King, Eric Clapton, Mudcrutch, and Area Code 615.If you love modern blues, classic blues, UK blues radio, deep themes, and music with a story to tell, this episode is for you.#311 Blues From The Ouse Playlist:Blues From The Ouse - Show Intro - 00:00:00Selwyn Birchwood - The Church Of Electric Swamp Funkin' Blues - 00:02:05Robert Jon & The Wreck - Old Man - 00:10:02Alex Lopez - Your Lovin' - 00:13:08Ally Venable Band (ft. This week's Blues is the Truth is packed with soul, grit and powerful music from across the blues spectrum, hosted as always by Ian McHugh. There's a heartfelt tribute to the legendary Joe Louis Walker, who features heavily in the show, and Ian also brings news about two outstanding new blues films you won't want to miss. Musically, it's a journey through classics and new favourites, including the raw emotion of John Primer and the powerful collaboration between Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Bobby Rush. Katie Bradley and Chris Corcoran light up the speakers with their distinctive style, and we've got searing guitar work from the likes of Eric Clapton, Popa Chubby, Matt Schofield, Robin Bibi, Sean Chambers, and Eric Johansen. The iconic sounds of Muddy Waters, T-Bone Walker, Charlie Musselwhite, and the Vaughan Brothers sit comfortably alongside the soulful voices of Janiva Magness, Kyla Brox, Lou Pride, and Ally Venable. There's also music from Darcy Perry, Jordan Officer, and a brilliant track from Joe Louis Walker that reminds us just how much he's shaped the modern blues landscape. World-renowned guitarist Gary Hoey delivers everything a fan could hope for.Named one of the top 100 guitarists of all time, Gary thrills his audiences with action-packed shows that draw on his 22 albums, extensive touring, and mastery of the electric guitar.A driven songwriter, player, producer and teacher, Gary has worked with great artists across all generations, like Brian May, Ted Nugent, Joe Satriani, Kenny Wayne Shepard, Joe Bonamassa, Eric Johnson, Steve Vai, Beth Hart, Eric Gales, Peter Frampton, Johnny Winter, Ally Venable, Quinn Sullivan, Robben Ford, Jeff Beck, Lita Ford, Roger Daltrey, Dick Dale and many more.We chat with Gary about his first new Christmas song to be released since 2013. Gary has always loved classical composers like Tchaikovsky so he created a rockin' version of the famous Sugar Plum Fairy from The Nutcracker. He played all the instruments on this song. The artwork for the single was created by Doug Long from Orange Blossom Junction in Visalia, CA. A man with many talents, Doug always created the best posters for his venue and this was one of them. Doug's love for music was as big as his heart for people. It was an honor to play there over the years. He always treated musicians like family. This single is in his memory (RIP 1952-2018).To follow The City's Backyard Podcast to see more pics of our guests click on the link:https://www.facebook.com/thecitysbackyardTo follow Gary Hoey click below! https://www.facebook.com/garyhoeyofficialpagehttps://garyhoey.com

Making a Scene Presents an Interview with Ally VenableTexas blues-rock singer/songwriter and guitarist extraordinaire, Ally Venable, entertains wherever she goes. With her signature glitter dresses and black knee-high boots, Venable comes off of the ropes swinging dazzling crowds on tour or throughout the festival circuit. "Venable pulls off a stunner of gritty and/or sultry blues rock tunes embellished with lots of tasty guitar solos." - Guitar Player Magazine. A Kilgore, Texas native, Ally began singing at church at four and picked up the guitar at age 12. By 13, she started her own band and through her early influence of Stevie Ray Vaughan captured the passion and yearning for more in the blues genre.

Happy Birthday to the insanely talented blues artist Ally Venable, who turns 24 today! Ally, whose musical gift is deeply embedded in her soul, has been performing, singing and shredding for almost a decade now -- having first picked up a guitar when she was only 12 years old. Her latest album, Real Gone!, is a stunning collection of inspired songs and also serves as a fitting tribute to many current blues legends. A seasoned road warrior herself, Ally, who comes from a long line of Texas blues guitarists including her idol and inspiration, Stevie Ray Vaughan, is fortunate to count the incomparable Buddy Guy as a mentor — and she performed as part of the Blues legend's Farewell Tour this year. As one of Guitar World Magazine's "15 Top Young Guns," Ally is a beacon for young female guitarists and is very serious about her place as a role model for those just coming up -- she loves to be an inspiration to others and "to be part of their journey." We explore her inspiration, musical background, what it means for her to be truly at home on stage. So grab a seat on the Roadcase bus and help us celebrate Ally's birthday on this week's episode of Roadcase! For more info:https://allyvenableband.com/For more information on Roadcase: https://linktr.ee/roadcasepod and https://www.roadcasepod.comContact: info@roadcasepod.comRoadcase theme music: "Eugene (Instrumental)" by Waltzer

Sue Foley, Dallas ManThe Swamp Stompers, Goin' Down SouthJohn Mayall w Mike Campbell, Chills and ThrillsSaverio Maccne, Endless Nights BluesDion, Red HouseDion, I Got My Eyes On You BabyKentucky Headhunters, Cup of TeaKentucky Headhunters, How Could IThe Lumineers, BrightsideStarlite Campbell Band, Said SoAlly Venable, What Do You Want From MeAlly Venable, Do It In HeelsSarah Shook & the Disarmers, Talkin' to Myself
