After being exposed to the so-called bad boys of bodybuilding with Double Trouble last year, Dave decided to pick the breakthrough movie for Peter and David Paul. The Canon Films sword-and-sorcery adventure, The Barbarians. The Barbarians (1987) was a quintessential example of 1980s sword-and-sorcery filmmaking, helmed by cult director Ruggero Deodato, best known for his controversial work on Cannibal Holocaust. Shot on location in Italy and Yugoslavia, the film embraced the rugged landscapes and ancient ruins of Eastern Europe to create its gritty, fantastical world. The producers, including the legendary Cannon Group, aimed to capitalize on the success of films like Conan the Barbarian, infusing the project with a mix of campy action and over-the-top theatrics. Real-life bodybuilder twin brothers Peter and David Paul, dubbed "The Barbarian Brothers," were cast as the lead warriors, their muscular physiques and comedic chemistry serving as the film's primary draw. This one is from Chris' sweet spot of the early 1990's action movie but very few people have heard of! "Double Trouble" (1992) is an action-comedy film starring the Barbarian Brothers, Peter and David Paul, as twin brothers with vastly different personalities. Peter Jade is a tough, no-nonsense cop, while David Jade is a carefree, muscle-bound nightclub bouncer. Despite their differences, the brothers are forced to team up when they become entangled in a criminal conspiracy involving counterfeit money and the murder of a federal agent. As they navigate through a series of dangerous and comedic situations, the twins must learn to work together, combining their unique skills to take down the criminal organization. The production of "Double Trouble" leaned heavily into the physicality and charisma of the Paul brothers, capitalizing on their larger-than-life personas. The film was designed to showcase their strength and humor, with plenty of action sequences and comedic moments that played to their strengths. Your Stupid Minds returns to the bottomless well of content that is the Barbarian Brothers (at least until we run out of Barbarian Brothers movies) with 1994's Twin Sitters, a movie that rips off Mr. Nanny wholesale but posits the question “what if there were TWO big beefy guys instead of one?” Peter and David Falcone (played by Peter and David Paul, respectively, since it's entirely possible they are incapable of responding to any first name but their own) are two muscle-bound goofballs who need money to open their own Italian restaurant. When they stop a trio of assassins in a playground in which they just happen to be hanging out, the target of the assassination, Frank (Jared Martin) hires them to guard his two nephews. Frank has turned state's witness and plans to testify against an evil mob-like guy Leland Stromm (George Lazenby) for dumping toxic waste improperly. The two goons go to Frank's mansion in their monster truck to guard the nephews, but wait a minute… the nephews are also… twins??? If you've seen Mr. Nanny you know how this goes. The twins, Bradley and Steven (Christian and Joseph Cousins) enact a series of escalating “pranks” on their guardians that border on (or are) attempted first degree murder. Eventually the twin sets become friends, but can they stay out of danger in time for the uncle to testify?

Rick talks about his journey to California from Connecticut to train at Gold's alongside bodybuilders like Mike Mentzer, Robby Robinson, Casey Viator, Tom Platz and the Barbarian Brothers. Rick also talks about his time as the host of the ESPN Television show Body Shaping and his thoughts on what made Bodybuilding special during the Golden Era of the sport.

Imagine a film where the biggest idiot you could ever find is the lead, make him do a ton of steroids, be a general dickbag to his co-workers and then DOUBLE HIM!!! In typical Cannon Group tradition, this movie is what you call, "not good", yet also "completely unbelievable". It is beyond the realm of standard imagination and can only come from breaking through the doors of perception, AKA doing a ton of coke. From concept to final cut, there's no way you can do a good job here. And that falls fully on the muscly shoulders of the Barbarian Brothers. These two idiots... I can't even describe them. I'm empty on words. I guess the best that can be done is that the Jersey Shore invades a swords and sandals movie. They are terribly unlikable in either form or character. However, if you can get past how much you hate these two and appreciate them for being the worst pair in cinematic history, well... you're in for a good time. There's terrible effects and practicals, lead by a penis-dragon that doesn't just appear to be a penis but also behaves like one, the dangerous stunts, lead by getting ran over by horses, the silly costumes and hair, lead by a donut hair cut, and the nonsensical plot. At no point does it work but put together as a whole (insert donut joke) it's pure stinker magic.

If you think the moon is fake and we're living on it, then this episode is for you! Also, no Musks need apply, the Barbarian Brothers are on notice, and beware of the upcoming "Prancer-effect."

Bianca joins BFH, Gene, Libby, and Bob to preview all the events surrounding the fest and L.A. Zine Week.
